This part of the story of David and Goliath reveals to me that God has equipped each one of us with certain specific tools or abilities that enable us to fight the giants in our lives. David was familiar with the sling and stone, so he chose those over a sword which he had not necessarily been trained to use. God asks us, "What is that in your hands?" We don't have to look for some skill or other thing that we are not prepared to use. Just trust God like David did, and go forward knowing that God is in charge, leading the way, and that you will have good success!
Have you ever thought about 1 Samuel 17:37, 45-47 regarding your own experience? - David said.., The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee. Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, Whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and... the host of the Philistines...; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.

@jamie: Remember Roman’s 12:2. Be transformed by the renewal of your mind. Also Col. 3:5:10. Put to death what is earthly in you. When you feel tempted read these verses. and go to war with your sin. put it to death like the righteous kings in scripture, tear down the idols. remove the computer, get rid of the phone or put controls on it if you cannot get rid of it. do everything you can to remove the temptation and pray pray pray. I will pray for you to have the strength and for the Holy Spirit to help you dwell on things that are pleaseing. take ever thought captive and give that thought to Jesus the second it enters your mind. Do this as much and as often as it happens. He is with you and for you. The more obedience you have the less often you will get attacked. We love you and are praying for you!

Well, it is warm again. Because our air conditioning has been out for a week because of a broken fan blade, by last night it was sweltering in our home again. I slept on top of the bed imagining I was camping. Haha! And I am sure that tonight will be the same. But things will be looking up soon. The part that my husband is waiting on, to fix the air conditioning, should come today. All my poor cat can do is lounge flat on the bed or the floor, wherever she feels the most breeze from our circulating fans. Bless her heart... She turned 15 today!
My review this morning included one of my favorite passages in Psalm 118. Verses 8-14 say, It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them. They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

so this group is called Share Your Faith. Anyone have any ideas on how to share the gospel more effectively? I think of the story of an old preacher who just told it like it was. Someone criticized his way of presenting the gospel, so he asked the critic what her method was. she responded that she didn’t really share the gospel very often. So the old preacher said that he still liked his way of sharing it better than not sharing it at all! Folks, Jesus is coming soon. There are so many who have never heard. Let’s get right with God and tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

@Everyone: The Seventh-day Sabbath of the Lord is just a few hours away. The devil has tried over the last several days to cause me grief and stress, and steal my upcoming blessing. However, a very special blessing is in store for me tonight. I get to participate in a sing-along Handels Messiah! How I miss those days when I sang the long score every Christmas for years with our local Symphony Choir and Orchestra. Then tomorrow afternoon, my family and I will witness the local Journey to Bethlehem program. They put a lot of effort into it, so I am sure that it will be great.
