How to Memorize Scripture as a Family
Lead your family into the heart of God. Memorize Scripture together! Here are some tips on how to do it effectively.
1. Establish a routine. Set a specific time every day to memorize Scripture together. Whether it's first thing in the morning, during a meal, or before bedtime. Whatever time works best, start with it and stick with it. Be consistent. The more you do it, the less you'll have to think about it. It will just happen naturally.
2. Create a Bible memory group for your family. Get your family involved in selecting passages or verse topics to memorize together. You will be able to track each other's progress and even compete for the top spot on the leaderboard!
3. Reward. Award a prize to the first one to reach your family's memorization goal, or reward the entire family when everyone reaches your goal. Rewards can be simple or grandiose. Get creative, and have fun!
You may be amazed at how quickly your family can memorize extended passages, like the Sermon on the Mount or The 10 Commandments. Just take a verse or two at a time. Your family will carry it with them for life, and you will leave an inheritance that can't be taken away.
"And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV
