How to Memorize Scripture with Kids

School is back. Whether your kids are in public school, private school, or home school, Scripture Typer wants to equip you to help your kids (or grandkids!) memorize God's Word, grow in the Lord, and stand firm this school year. Here are some ideas for memorizing Scripture with your kids.

 

1. Create a Scripture Typer account for each of your kids so you can track their progress and create a library of Bible memory verses that will stay with them for life! If you have Scripture Typer PRO for iPhone, iPad, Android, or Kindle Fire, you can even create up to four PRO accounts for your kids FREE! See "How to Create Scripture Typer Accounts for Your Kids" for more details and step-by-step instructions below*.

 

2. Select a verse collection for your kids to memorize from the Verse Library. See which verse collections pop out at them to memorize. Kids will be more excited if they choose their own verses. Pray with them before they start though, and ask for the Lord's guidance on what to memorize.

 

3. Have your kids record their verses using the Scipture Typer PRO App's Audio feature for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Kindle Fire. Have them play their recordings while running, doing homework, or just hanging out. They can even set their audio recordings to music! Just click on the record button ("Rec") on any verse screen to record a verse. To add music, select "Play" on any verse screen, then "Music".

 

4. Have your kids draw pictures to represent their memory verses using the Scripture Typer PRO App's Drawing feature for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Kindle Fire. Select the menu button in the upper right corner of any verse screen, then select "Draw". The pictures will appear on the verse screen and on the verse Flash Cards, which can also be accessed from the same menu button.

 

5. Have your kids join a Bible Memory Group. Bible memory groups provide healthy competition, accountability, and a safe way for kids to memorize with other believers.

 

6. Have your kids start their own Bible Memory Group for their friends, and lead others to memorize Scripture with them.

 

7. Reward your kids' effort! When your kids reach their goal--whether it's memorizing an entire verse collection or staying current on all of their verses for a month--whatever it is, reward them. If you have multiple kids, you can even make a competition out of it!

How to Create Scripture Typer Accounts for Your Kids

Scripture Typer loves kids, and we want to make it as easy as possible for your kids to memorize God's Word. If you want your kids to memorize Scripture, you can start by creating a FREE Scripture Typer account for each of your kids on ScriptureTyper.com*. Or, if you have the Scripture Typer PRO App for iPhone, iPad, Android, or Kindle Fire, go to Settings -> Pro Accounts -> Create a New Account.

 

Anyone in your family can access their verses on the Scripture Typer App, even from the same mobile device. To switch between accounts on the Scripture Typer App, go to Settings -> Change Accounts -> Use Another Account.

 

If you have the Scripture Typer PRO App for iPhone, iPad, Android, or Kindle Fire, you can even choose up to four family members' accounts to upgrade to PRO, at no additional charge! To select which accounts you would like to upgrade to PRO, go to Settings -> Pro Accounts. All of your Scripture Typer accounts will be listed on this screen, and from here you can turn PRO on or off of each account. Now it's time to create accounts and pick some verses to memorize with your kids! Happy memorizing!

 

*Note: Must be at least 13 years of age to create a Scripture Typer account. Children under 13 may use a parent's account with adult supervision. Each Scripture Typer account requires a separate email address. If your kids are under 13 years of age or do not have an email address, you can create a new email address for yourself and use it to create a new Scripture Typer account for yourself, for the dedicated purpose of your child's Bible memory.
