Bible Verses About Spiritual Warfare to Memorize
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood." Paul’s words to the Ephesians reframe the Christian life: behind the visible struggles lies an invisible conflict, and God has issued armor for it. Notably, in Paul’s inventory only one piece is a weapon — "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." A memorized Bible is, quite literally, how Scripture says you fight.
The New Testament is sober about the enemy — "your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about" — but never fearful. Every warfare passage lands on settled confidence: "greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world"; "in all these things we are more than conquerors." The believer fights from victory, not for it.
These ten verses are armor you can put on by heart. They cover the reality of the battle, the resources God supplies, and the certainty of the outcome.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Identifies the real opponent — "not against flesh and blood" — so you stop fighting people and start fighting properly.
Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Names your one offensive weapon: "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" — the verse that makes memorization a military necessity.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
The weapons are "mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds" — including the thought-level battle of "casting down imaginations."
James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
The order of operations matters: submit to God first, then resist the devil — "and he will flee from you."
1 Peter 5:8-9
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Sober vigilance against the roaring lion, with the command to resist "stedfast in the faith."
1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
"Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" — the balance of power in one line.
Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
"More than conquerors through him that loved us" — the believer’s standing in the conflict is victory already won.
Isaiah 54:17
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper" — God’s protective promise over His servants.
2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
"The Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil" — your defense rests on His faithfulness, not your vigilance alone.

FAQ
Questions about Bible verses on spiritual warfare
What is the main Bible passage about spiritual warfare?
Ephesians 6:10-18 — the armor of God passage. It identifies the enemy ("not against flesh and blood," v.12), commands believers to "put on the whole armour of God" (v.11), and lists each piece: truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer.
What is the sword of the Spirit?
Ephesians 6:17 defines it: "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." It is the only offensive weapon in the armor of God, and Jesus modeled its use by answering Satan’s temptations with quoted Scripture (Matthew 4:1-11) — which is why memorizing the Bible is central to spiritual warfare.
How do I resist the devil according to the Bible?
James 4:7 gives the sequence: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Submission comes first — resistance without submission is just willpower. 1 Peter 5:8-9 adds vigilance and steadfast faith, and Ephesians 6 supplies the armor for the standing fight.
