Bible Verses About Change to Memorize

Change is the one constant of human life — new cities, new jobs, new diagnoses, children arriving, children leaving. The Bible’s answer to all of it is a striking contrast: "For I am the LORD, I change not." Jesus Christ is "the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Everything around you may move; the One beneath you does not.

That unchanging God is also, remarkably, the author of change. He declares, "Behold, I will do a new thing." He makes believers new creatures. He began a good work in you and will keep changing you until the day of Jesus Christ. So Scripture neither fears change nor worships it — it anchors you for the changes you did not choose and emboldens you for the ones God is leading you into.

These eleven KJV verses hold both truths together: the steadiness of God and the newness He loves to bring.

Each verse below is shown in the King James Version. Read it slowly, then use the note beneath it to see why it is worth carrying with you.

  1. Malachi 3:6

For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

"For I am the LORD, I change not" — six words of bedrock for every season when everything else is shifting.

  2. Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever — the New Testament’s anchor verse for changing times.

  3. Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

"Behold, I will do a new thing" — God Himself initiates change, making a way in the wilderness.

  4. Lamentations 3:22-23

It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Mercies new every morning mean each changed day arrives already supplied with fresh compassion.

  5. Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

He who began a good work in you will perform it — the change happening in you is God’s project, and He finishes what He starts.

  6. Ecclesiastes 3:1

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

"To every thing there is a season" gives you permission to let one chapter end and another begin.

  7. James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

The Father of lights has "no variableness, neither shadow of turning" — His goodness does not flicker when your circumstances do.

  8. Psalm 102:27

But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

"But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end" — the psalmist’s contrast between a perishing world and an unchanging God.

  9. Isaiah 46:9-10

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

God declares the end from the beginning — no change catches Him off guard, because His counsel shall stand.

  10. Proverbs 19:21

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Many devices in a man’s heart, but the counsel of the LORD stands — comfort when your plans are the thing that changed.

  11. Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Be strong and of a good courage; He will not fail thee — the charge God gives at every threshold of change.

How to memorize these verses

In transition, memorize the contrast: pair one "God does not change" verse with one "God brings new things" verse each week — Malachi 3:6 with Isaiah 43:19, Hebrews 13:8 with Philippians 1:6 — so your heart holds both the anchor and the sail. Moving boxes, commutes to a new job, and the first weeks of any new season are surprisingly good review times; reciting Deuteronomy 31:6 on the way into an unfamiliar building steadies you measurably. FAQ

Questions about Bible verses on change

What is a good Bible verse about change?

For change happening around you, Malachi 3:6 ("For I am the LORD, I change not") and Hebrews 13:8 ("Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever") are the anchor verses. For change God is leading you into, Isaiah 43:19 — "Behold, I will do a new thing" — is the classic.

What does the Bible say about God never changing?

Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8, James 1:17 ("no variableness, neither shadow of turning"), and Psalm 102:27 all teach God’s immutability — His character, promises, and purposes do not shift. That is why changing circumstances cannot undo what He has said.

How do I trust God during a big life change?

Anchor yourself in what does not change (Hebrews 13:8), remember that God already knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10), and take the next step with His promise in Deuteronomy 31:6 — "he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." Memorizing these verses puts them within reach in the disoriented moments transitions always bring.
