Justification Through Faith.
Romans 3:23-31
23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24. Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood for the remissions of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
29. Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also
30. Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumision through faith.
31. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
A Plea For Mercy
Psalm 6:1-10
1. O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2. Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
3. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?
4. Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies sake.
5. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
6. I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
7. Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
8. Depart from me, all ye working of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping .
9. The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.
10. Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
Thomas Sees Jesus
John 20:26-31
26. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, and believing.
28. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.
31. But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name..
The Lord's Good And Mercy Endureth For Ever
Psalm 118:1-9
1. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
2. Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
3. Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
4. Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
5. I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.
6. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
7. The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
9. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
Praise And Bless The Lord
Psalm 113:1-9
1. Praise ye the Lord, Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
2. Bless be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.
3. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.
4. The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5. Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
6. Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in the heaven, and in the earth!
7. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
8. That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
9. He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.
In The Body Of Christ
1 Corinthians 12:27-31
27. Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30. Have all the gift of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
31. But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
A Crown Of Glory And Honour
Hebrews 2:1-7
1. There we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3. How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4. God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
5. For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak.
6. But one in certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the Son Of Man, that thou visitest him?
7. Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crowned him with glory and honour.
God Abundantly Pardons
Isaiah 54:1-7
1. Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travial with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord.
2. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
3. For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
4. Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame.of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
5. For thy Maker is thy husband; the Lord of host is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
Mighty Weapons of Warfare
2 Corinthians 10:1-6
1. Now I Paul myself beech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent and behold toward you:
2. But I beech you, that I may not behold when I present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be hold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
3. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but might through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exhalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6. And having in readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Samson Pray To God For Strength
Judges 16:28-31
28. And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
29. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
30. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
31. Then his brethern and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
God's Righteousness
Psalm 72:1-8
1. Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son.
2. He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
3. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.
4. He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
5. They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
6. He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
7. In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth
8. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the rivers unto the ends of the earth.
Plans For Hope And Future
Jeremiah 29:11-15
11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end.
12. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.
15. Because ye have said, The Lord hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;
Be Kind And Compassionate To One Another
Ephesians 4:29-32
29. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with malice:
32. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Psalms 51-1-10
1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2. Wash me thoughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me know wisdom.
7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
God's Is Faithful To Forgive Us For Our Sins
1 John 1:5-10
5. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declared unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sins.
8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
The Lord is My Shepherd
Psalm 23:1-6
1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Resurrection Of The Dead
1 Corinthians 15:12-22
12. Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you there is no resurrection of the dead?
13. But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14. And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
15. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so that the dead rise not.
16. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
17. And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
18. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
19. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
20. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept.
Defending Your Faith
1 Peter 3:8-
8. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethern, be pitiful, be courteous:
9. Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrarwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing
10. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11. Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensure it.
12. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14. But and if ye suffer for righteousness sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that askest you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16. Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
Saved By Gods Grace
Ephesians 2:3-10
3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lust of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus;
7. That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Jesus Christ.
8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Rest For Your Soul
Matthew 11:28-30
28. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
When Thomas Believes In The True Son Of God
John 20:26-31
26. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless but believing.
28. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31. But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing might have life through his name.
Keeping Yourself In God's Love

Trust In The Lord Shall Be Safe
Proverbs 29:25
25. The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
When Trying Of The Faith Worketh Patience
James 1:2-6
2. My brethern, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4. But let patience have her perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him.
6. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a waver of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
Christ Has Begotten US Again
1 Peter 1:3-5
3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
4. To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.
5. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time
Be Of Good Courage
Psalm 27:11-12
11. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
12. Wait on the Lord be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Your Hearts And Minds In Jesus Christ
Philippians 4:4-7
4. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
5. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6. Be careful for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.
7. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus
Jesus Heals A Man With The Palsy
Matthew 9:2-7
2. And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4. And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5. For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7. But when the multitude saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.
We Should Love Everyone
Matthew 5:38-45
38. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
41. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43.Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.
44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Example That Christ Is The True Son Of GodJohn 11:38-44
38. Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41. Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42. And I knew that thou heardest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice Lazarus, come forth.
44. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him let him go.
He Want Let Us Go

22. And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
23. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
24. Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed me not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26. But ye believed not, because ye are not my sheep, as I said unto you.
27. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30. I and my Father are one.
Standfast In The Faith
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
13. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
14. Let all your things be done with charity.
Death Is Swallowed In Victory
Isaiah 25:8-9
8. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.
9. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
Hope in God
Psalm 43:1-5
1. Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitiful and unjust man.
2. For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
3. O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
4. Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.
5. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Teaching of the Grace of God
Titus 3:1-8
1. Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
2. To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
3. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6. Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7. That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
8. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
I've done all of James in Bible Quizzing
Nice profile picture, Noah! π
Iβve started chapter 4 now.
Iβve almost memorized the whole 3rd chapter of James!
I actually started memorizing James before I joined. Iβm on chapter 3 now.
Thanks for the welcome π€
good morning, yβall. just looking for my first group to join.
For those who are serious about memorizing the Word of God, feel free to join my group, "Gird up your mind!" Thanks!
Steve, you can memorize verses under "my verses" and then you have to review them under "review". The more you review them, the less frequently they will be due for review.
cckborg, open the verse and click on the three horizonal lines in the upper right corner. then click on "edit verse" and then add as many verses as you want. then save. you will want to delete the single verses after you make sure it got done correctly. βΊοΈ I think there are several ways to do it, but this is how I do it on my phone.
I am curious. The first two chapters group verses together but in the last 3 each verse is separate. It is harder to focus on the flow of thought when each verse is a separate element. Is there a way to merge verses into larger thought units?
I am new to this app somebody please explain how to use it
Warriors for Jesus looks like a pretty good group. Funny thing is, all but one of its members is admin!π They seem to have good discussion on the message wall.
If anyone wants to join my group I would be glad. It is called Warriors for Jesus!
As self - appointed group checker, I must say that Bible Brigade looks like an awesome group! It has lots of verses to memorize, there is a lot of healthy competition, and the members keep their group active and up to date. Good job! π π
And also, as Bible Memorizer said, please do join Memorize God's Word. π
Hi, everyone! Over on The Bible Brigade, we are having and are planning to have fun activities and events. We would love for you to come and join us! π I hope to see you there!
please join my group memorize Gods word! thanks
Thank you! I do the best I can, but itβs only through Him can I do that.
Good job! May you be a doer of the word!
yay! Iβve finally got it all, praise God! itβs been a work but so worth it.
yes that makes sense. I know I have them memorized in sections like that but I just have uncategorized.
I think that they are either memorizing them in different versions or they keep passages current that have different amounts of verses in them, such as memorizing James 1:1-7 and then separately having James 1:1 and James 1:5.
hey everyone! Iβm so enjoying memorizing the Book of James. I love the challenge of it and the challenges of the Lord as I go through it. But Iβm not quite understanding where those who are at the top have 130, 134 verses memorized when there arenβt that many in the book. So is it that we can add sections and labeling them under this group? Iβm just wondering. Thank you
this is probably my third time/effort to memorize James. it is easier even as I get further into than before. and it still hits home, Hebrews 4:12.
Hi everone!
Several years ago I took a Beth Moore bible study on the book of James and she suggested memorizing the entire book. I think I got through chapter 2 and then things happened and I didn't get it all memorized. Recently I felt God urging me to get back into Bible memory. The website I had used is
no longer available so I started looking and found The Bible Memory app and BibleMemory.com which is very similar to what I had used before. So here I am starting over in James. although as I work through chapter 1 some of it is coming back quite quickly.
Hi, anonymous and Faith! Welcome to the group! I hope you'll glean a lot of wisdom from God's word. π
Hello everyone! I am new to this group. just wanted to say hi! Iβm excited to memorize Godβs Word with you all.
Hi I'm new to this group please join my group called God is good.π
Psalm 17 :1 may talk about the blessings of having lips that are free of deceit. God will listen to you.
@Andy I found the verse right before that one interesting βA man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.β I believe he was presenting the fact that what we say can often affect our feelings, even deep feelings. It works the other way around as well, our feelings can affect what we say. In life, when we are tempted by the wrong feelings, I personally think the best way to handle it is by applying the counter feeling. This is not a Psalm but a proverb showing the power of the tongue for good or evil. Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) βDeath and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.β
Well, who can tell me whatβs Psalms has to say about the blessings of taming your tongue? James has a lot to say about doing so, but Psalms mentions the benefits of it.
Who can start some helpful, edifying discussion about James on this message wall?
please join my new group called help in difficult times
Joanna, check out the Group called The β J β Letters. Itβs the letters of John with Jude and the book of James. Charlotte, the creator of the group combined verse so you learn the single verse first. You have already, that so great. But then start memorizing the smaller verses groups like 1:2-3, 1:7-8 then 1:1-8 after you have all the smaller group verse memorized then itβs much easier to do the whole chapter. Charlotte has created groups on the Gospel of John called The WORD and His words in the Book of John as while and Pauls letters. The best advice is just keep reviewing your verses. Blessings!
I have all the verses of James memorized individually, but I cannot say them together in order. Any suggestions?
It might be the group for you
Hi yβall hope you are doing well.
SallyC, how are you doing on memorizing James 1:1-27?
my youth group is memorizing James 1
hi, I am new. I am so exited to finish memorizing James with you all!
@whynotchika Did you add the verses that are linked to this group? I found that when I added the verses from James in my own they did not count.
so after the app makes you go through the verse enough times that you have to fill it out completely on your own, it should have a green check mark next to it as well as an indicator of when the verse expires. In other words, when you need to review. is that what youβre asking?
Can anyone tell me how to show that Iβve memorized a verse? Thanks!
Hi Nick and Sawyer - Yep, still out here and still memorizing. The key is to do a little every day - I do a verse or a half of a verse (if itβs long) each day and pause at least once a week to just review the new section Iβve been learning. I put every chapter Iβve learned on a weekly rotation to review as well. This app has made all the difference for me. Iβve found it all to be useful. Mostly I use the typer but when Iβm stuck learning a verse, Iβll use the draw function. I also switch up review by using the flash cards, typer, or sometimes just play the chapter on You Version and say along with it. One of the greatest blessings in my life is memorizing and meditating on Godβs Word.
Is anyone still out there???π€
Hi! Iβm totally new, and I donβt know a lot... but, Iβm working on it. Thanks for making a group!!! Itβs definitely nice to have other people working on this, and not just doing it alone. Hi Kimmy Ann!
I was challenged to read James 50 times s few years ago. I didn't set out to memorize it, but by the end of reading 50 times, I was well on my way! I want to be more intentional now and get it down. But as a hint in memorizing large chunks of the Bible, sometimes just reading it over and over is helpful! You'll eventually have it memorized and won't even realize it! π
Thank you for the tips Cynda and Hikergal. Appreciate it. I have made up index cards and take them with me where ever I go. I am memorizing this in NIV 84 and was so glad that this site had that translation as it is not very common anymore. Our AWANA clubs use that translation a lot. I am at 98% on 1:1-12 so far.
Iβve also found saying the verses aloud with the audio on YouVersiln is great for review once I know several verses. I do that weekly to review whole chapters I have memorized.
@SallyC In addition to typing my verses using this website, I've found that saying the verses out loud is very helpful. I keep my note cards in my car and try to say the verses on my way to work each morning.
Doesnβt seem to be too active, but maybe if you post a bit as you go along, others will comment. You will definitely be able to memorize James chapter 1 by April 2020. Just take it a verse at a time (maybe one verse every couple of days and, before you memorize a new verse, review what youβve already memorized). This app was especially helpful to me in memorizing. When you encounter a verse that seems hard to βgetβ, donβt get discouraged. Just keep at it and youβll get it. The Flashcards and drawing out the verse (and Iβm NO artist!) really helped when I came upon a difficult one. You will be so very blessed by hiding this chapter in your heart!!
Good Evening. Is this group still active? I am memorizing James 1:1-27 as a challenge from my AWANA club. I have until April 2020 to do it.
James 3:17 (what wisdom IS). I always thought of wisdom as the application of understanding (as in making decisions). That verse has shown me that if how I am acting/what Iβm deciding/what Iβm thinking isnβt pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere, then Iβm not walking in wisdom. Wow.
I agree. I've done that, too.
Hi Joanna! I have found James 1:2-3 very comforting. I repeat it to myself eveytime I get frustrated - it really helps.
Hi Joanna! My most comforting is James 4:6, and my daily reminder verse is James 3:5.
What's everyone's favourite verse in James? 4.17 is helpful for me.
@Shanna, yes, just delete the collections, re-select them from the group, then, for the one's you've already memorized, long-press the collection (or individual verses) and select "Change Review Frequency" to set an appropriate review frequency. (This will also check them off as memorized)
@Brett Golson, you seem to be knowledgable about these things...
How do I go back and redownload the verses from the group board. I have memorized through 4:10, but am only showing 54 current (probably because I combined some verses from chapter three into sections rather than leaving them as they had originally been downloaded)
Do I need to deleted them all and start over?
Thank you very much for the advice @Brett, I was struggling a little with that!
Welcome to the group @AmyLaurenGreen!
@SvenE, only verses selected directly from the group verse list will count in the stats. Even if you've memorized all of James, you should still bring in the verses individually. You can mark the entire collection 'memorized' by setting a review frequency on the collection. Then it will allow you to review the verses combined as a single passage. The benefit of this is it still tracks stats by individual verses, so you can see which ones need more work. Also, you can review smaller chunks of the passage if needed.
Hello Brothers and sisters in Christ. I am new to this App and group. But am so excited to be memorizing scripture with other believers...it feels like we're all family without even meeting.
it shows that i have 0 verses curet in this group because i had the same problem and decided to delete the group verses. i do have all of jame memorized in single verses but it donβt show up here. do i need to redownload?
Joanna. Here's what's happening, I think. I did this by accident with one of my collections. After I had memorized the verses singly, I edited some of the verses so that they were combined, for example I combined whole sentences or whole thoughts. Then I would have to go back and delete the single verses. But if I don't it will double count. This could also happen if you after you memorize the whole chapter as a single verses and then you add that chapter as a whole, not broken up. I think it will show that you have double the amount of Scriptures. But you will also have to do them twice as well. Hope this makes sense.
l live in Az and just joinedπ
Really? I don't think that works. db was telling me that they had memorized more than one version. In that case, some people would have to have memorized the whole thing 3 times!
Hi Joanna, I was wondering the same thing. I don't know how someone can have more current verses than there are in the book. I guess they have those same verses in other collections, but haven't combined them.
I live in North Carolina, near the SC border.
hey yβall! anybody in here from SC?
P.S. I live In Michigan. πΊπΈ. π
Hi, Iβm so glad to see group memorizing James! I already started memorizing James and I think this will help me keep going. Thank you.
do sny of you live in Alberta Canada?
Hi! I just joined the group
Do any of you live in Waxhaw, NC?
Hi everyone!! Please join the "Prayer Requests" group where we will be displaying prayer requests on the Message Wall. Please join, add your prayer requests, and pray for others(!!) ...see you in the group π
good morning fellow memorizers. Iβm struck by the importance of the first word of each verse as I strive to re-memorize James.
hello fans of the book of James! what do James 1:10-11, 2:8,11,23. and 3:9 have in common? they all quote the Old Testament! Iβve started a group: βOld in the Newβ to help memorize commonly quoted Old Testament passages. I hope you find it a help!
Thank you, db and Steve Evans!
Joanna, some folks have memorized different versions so they have more verses. btw, great job on memorizing!
congrats Joanna! you are an encouragement to us all!
Wow! I've finished James!ππππππβΊππππ
Same with godwalker, servant sue, danl, and others.π
I'd like to know if there are more so that I can memorize them. So please tell me.βΊ
How did you get that many group verses current? There aren't that many verses in this group, I don't think. Correct me if I'm wrong.βΊ
you can group passages after you have memorized all the verses. Just go to one of the verse, edit the verse range and import the text. then delete the single verses. voila youβve got it! Iβm not admin but that is what I do.
I said administrator because i didn't know who made the group.
Administrator, I'd like it if you'd make some collections with separate verses, because that's the way I've been memorizing them.π
You just memorize verses together and get to know each other by sending messages to each other. By the way, I like your profile π·picture.
So what do you do in this group? I just started using scripturetyper to memorize the Bible, so I don't know what the groups are for.
Okay! I like The New King James Version the most, but my Bible is The King James Version. So I started memorizing James 1 in The King James Version. I don't know if I should switch to The New King James Version or not. That might be kinda concussing. Maybe I'll stick with The King James Version until I'm done memorizing James 1.
Hi Lilly, use whatever version you are most comfortable. ππ»
Hello! I'm memorizing James 1. What version do you think I should use? Right now I'm using The King James Version.
please join the group the talk
Hi Charles, Just tap on the 3 little red lines in the top right corner. A menu will drop down and you can tap on instructions.
or what do I do to memorize stuff
Yes, I did the Beth Moore Bible Study and memorized James with this app. The app helps review and keep verses fresh. Welcome!
hi Iβm new to the lpad and new to this app. Does anyone happen to be memorizing James by your doing Beth Mooreβs BS on it?
Then, once you've memorized the book, use this app to review! It's fabulous for that! And I've actually found the "typing" element to be too time consuming for review. I can recite the book in about 15 minutes, but it takes almost double that to "type review" it. So instead, I used the microphone tool to record myself saying the verses and review it that way. If you follow Davis's technique, you end up saying the verse the same way every time, with the same inflections and cadences and you can actually recite along with your own recording! Lol. God bless and hope you all have a great new year!
Hello everyone! I've already memorized the whole book and wanted to share a tip with you. I actually don't use this app for memorizing but for reviewing what I've already memorized. If you want a faster more solid way to memorize, there's a free PDF online called "An Approach to Extended Memorization of Scripture" by Andrew Davis. It's a fantastic technique that's enabled me to memorize not only James, but Philippians, 1 Peter, the last 4 Chs of Job, and many Psalms. Check it out!
Hello dear brothers and sisters, Iβve just joined and so excited and blessed to be here. I love the book of James. I know a lot of it but not word for word. so Iβm starting James 1:1-12. I have requested help for learning how everything works. I purchased the pro because I want to get all the help I can. Anyway, again so thankful to be here. I need Godβs word to bring light to my life as darkness threatens me daily. Love to all, Debbie
Welcome! You will be blessed! ππ»
Iβm just starting to memorize the book of james. mastered the first 6 verses! lol! long ways to go...but itβs a great distraction from life! this is my first book Iβm trying to memorize...going to be tough, but excited about the learning along the way!
what a great book! I've been working at it for a year and a half I'm starting chapter 4 now. Love that there are others memorizing this. memorizing James has changed my life! πMary
Finally finished memorizing James but the other chapters have become foggy. I guess I will go back and review more frequently. I did find it easier to memorize the single verses first. it took me all summer. it is so worth studying!
book of James memorized! still going to review it tho
So glad to have you join us Isaac!
Thanks! I already have four chapters of James memorized and I am working on chapter five right now!
We'd love to have you, Issac!
Can I join this group? The book of James is my second favorite book in the bible
You can choose the Bible version when you select each collection from the group. Just select "New American Standard Bible" from the list.
I would join this group if I could switch the version to NAS I learned some in 30 years ago. is there a way to change this in my ...account?
How do i change bible version
Love this book. Memorized it with a Sunday school class I was teaching when I was 18. Still learning from James 20 years later:)
finished!!! started February (I think). hallelujah! looking forward to my first full reading without prompts (husband promised he'd be patient!). can't believe how much more I have gained from a book I thought I already understood, by memorising it. praying encouragement and blessings for everyone,
James is a very inspiring book. I tried to memorize it in high school. Now that I have an empty nest, I have time to memorize all the scripture that I can stuff in my head. Blessing to those who created this website and those who have contributed.
woo hoo. Finished the last verse of chapter 5 this morning. Still need some review but have all the basics down.
Hi Tammy, I working on Chapter 3 too! Only a verse or two at a time until it is ingrained.
Hi Kat. It's my favourite too- I'm on chapter 3 at the moment, learning about chapter a month as I want it to stick so I'm using a lot of repetition rather than going for huge chunks at a time. Praying for your success and everyone else on here- well done!
oops, wish they had a way to edit comments. I had a bit of a stutter there. I guessed I could just proofread my comments before I hit post.
Kat, it does not look like anyone responded to your request. Of course you can join. We hope you do. James is a great book. I am plugging away at it but keep it but keep getting distracted with chapters from elsewhere in the Bible.
Can I Join? James is my favorite book.
Kat Ingalls
congratulation Danielle. keep it up.
Reached the halfway point!
well the memorizing the book of James in a month plan didn't work out. the plan was a bit difficult for me to follow although I did find some of his principles helpful. I was difficult for me using a different version than the program. plus I got side tract with a chapter from Psalms in the middle. I was still happy with a chapter and a half from James and a chapter from psalms in a month.
that is typer not Tyler. Auto correct gets me every time. π
in addition to his system I am using scripture Tyler and a few other techniques to review.
if you search masters of memory James course. He uses the memory castle method of learning. in theory you should be able to recite it as a whole or any individual verse when called out by itself when finished. the only thing I am adapting is I do my memory work in KJV. I am old and it is hard for me to unlearn or adapt what I already know without confusion.
sdaTim β where do we find the "system"? I finished James some time ago but would love to read about this.
Have any of you see the system for learning the book of James in a month? I am going to give it a shot.
Congrats, Joy! I'm working right with you! π
I am glad to see so many people really working this collection!
I've recently started memorizing the Book of James a few weeks ago. Just mastered the first chapter! Looking forward to mastering the entire book by May/June of this year!
@Daughter - After I mastered the individual verses, I added whole chapters. I've got chapter one down, 4 more to go!
I have never seen a Bible translation that has more verses than 108 verses in the Book of James. Chapter one has 27 verses, chapter two has 26, chapter three has 18, chapter four has 17, and chapter five has 20. Go to your collection and look at each collection. if you have more or less than that, you either have repeats or are missing some verses.
Thanks, Cynda. Now that I mastered all the individual verses, I'm working on whole chapters. I didn't realize that you could add verses to the list, so I added whole chapters.
@momforhim - Some have memorized the verses in different versions of the bible and that's why they have more than 134 verses.
I have mastered all the verses in James! I'm wondering why it shows I have 134 group verses current and there are others who have 162 and 178. I selected all the group verses and have them all mastered...are there more somewhere?
Last message for tonight. I've changed all my Collections to say Memorizing... It seems folks don't like my including the version. I've included it in the description. Blessings!
For those of you who would like to review all of your verses at one time, here is the answer that the support dept. from ScriptureTyper gave me when I asked them the same question. It works beautifully! Because of his answer, I have continued to import the verses one at a time. It's much easier for me because it is parsed out automatically. Here's the support guy's suggestion: We recommend creating a collection for each chapter that you memorize. Then when importing, select the entire verse range for the chapter and allow the system to split it into individual verses, as you mentioned. Then, after mastering the first two verses, you will have the option of reviewing the verses combined into a single verse. When reviewing combined verses, you don't have to type the verse reference. We also recommend that you review your sequential (chapter) collections from the My Verses screen, instead of from the review system. This way, you can use the combined verses feature. I usually review my chapters first from "My Verses" and then go to the review screen to review any miscellaneous verses. Hope this helps!
Hi everyone! I am the original author of this Collection - Memorizing James. This is the first time I have checked the wall, because, frankly, I didn't expect anyone to use my collections! I'm so excited to see so many people love the Word as much as I do. I have another collection entitled Memorizing Ephesians. All my new collections start with NASB. So, NASB - Philippians, NASB - Psalms, NASB - Psalm 119, etc. I only add the NASB to separate my collections from all of the others. You can, of course, memorize the verses in your favorite version. I memorized most of my collections before I had ScriptureTyper, so they don't show I have mastered them all yet. My goal this year is to memorize the book of Psalms. I'm so excited about doing that. I've spent years studying it, so I'm looking forward to meditating even more on these wonderful verses. Let me know if you need anything, and I will do my best to check the wall more often. And remember - hide God's Word in your heart - don't just memorize it! Blessings to you all.
please join my group called screaming potatoes! invite others please
Join my group guys! its called christmas! please invite others! Thx! the location right now is inchelium wa. It'll prob change to everywhere.
Corina, I love the idea of having the whole chapters posted. I once tried to modify the verse settings so they were in paragraphs rather than individually, and while I long ago finished all five chapters, it will never show that here because I changed those settings. I love the book of James!
I have another question. Would the admin mind making the chapters available to memorize as wholes. As in, James 1:1-27 etc.?
Hi! My name's Corina and I have memorized four out of the five chapters of James and am looking forward to finishing the book! Is this group mostly from the same area geographically or from all over?
Hello everyone! I'm excited to start memorizing the book of James. God Bless
thanks very much! I've memorised the first 20 verses of James 1 so far! even got my husband to start memorising it with me now! it's such a blessing to learn God's word off heart!
Welcome, Engela and Rob, good to have you here. The teachings in James are so practical and you will be glad to hold them in your heart.
i began memorizing a few verses in James a year or so ago and eventually decided to try and memorize an entire chapter. recently I finished chapter 1, but had moved on to other verses. Now that I found this group I may try to learn another chapter.
I've always wanted to memorise a whole book! Thus far I've only memorise individual verses! I love the book of James and are excited to start! So grateful for this group!
So glad to have you join us Erin!
This is awesome! I started working on the book of James a little while ago so I'm excited to find a group of others memorizing James as well.
hello all! I am really excited to get the book of James memorized!
Good for you Karen. I agree about James. So much practical wisdom in there!
Thanks for the encouragement. It is coming back. :-) I am sure it will get a lot harder once I start the new chapters. For now I am re-doing what I did before. James is such a rich book!
Just begin again, Karen. The verses that you memorized in 2012 will come back to you with a little work. You can do this!!
You can do it Karen! I am rooting for you!
I started memorizing the book of James in 2012 but got bogged down and only got through the first chapter and a half, which I can't remember now. I would really like to get this done.
aha, I get it now. Answered my own question. Wish I knew this when I was learning Philippians! lol
Question- when I do review, do I have to do it from my main review list that includes everything I've ever mastered or can I go straight from the "James Chapters" that I've imported from this group?
I keep skipping around my review list because I want to do the James verses in order, but it breaks concentration.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks Cynda! Great to be here!
Feels like I've been having a conversation with God about Memorizing the book of James for about six months now. I toyed with the idea that New Year's would be a good time to start. Them I showed up for church this past Sunday, turns out our new series will be on the book of James. hmmm, sounds like a prompting to me. Glad to be joining with all of you.
Hi Karen, There was a bug with the system that we recently corrected. The # of successful attempts should only increment once every 6 hours. This allows you to type a verse as many times as you like with out pushing it way out in the review cycle. Note that your # of successful attempts is also the # of days between reviews. Hope that makes sense :)
Hello Brett ~ I've successfully done verses 1 -3 of chapter 1 of James and yet it is only registering me with one successful attempt though I have done several more besides. I've just finished the Romans Projects and am used to seeing the # of successful attempts rising with each time. ~~I LOVE this site and am so thankful for it. It has made all the difference for me in memorization.
Thanks! This is really hard! I am trying to memorize three verses a day. I am just not used to it I guess.:)
Yay! Have the first 6 verses memorized!!! 108 to go!
Thank you so much, Brett... that DID work. :)
Best app ever.
@RansomedOne, try adding it back in from the app. I think it will let you do it from there. Just open the James 2 collection, choose "Add Verse" and select it.
I have a small problem here, I took 2:18-20 out to fix the place with a dash so it had a space... and now it is in my separate list and I can't get it back in the James 2 collection to review straight through... is there any way around it? I see too late that now I can edit it directly on the page. Sorry about that.
Don't give up! Keep pressing on. God's Word will not return void! You can count on it/Him!
Suddenly James 2:18-20 is not lining up correctly when I type it.
Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
I just updated the website with a bug fix. There was a problem with the message displayed after successfully completing a verse in "Memorize It" mode. New verses must be typed successfully in "Master It" mode before they will be checked off and added to the review cycle. Everything should be working properly now. So sorry for the trouble.
and me again... today I tried doing the verses in chapter 3 separately from the esv block in this group... it does not credit me for them... Thanks for your work here.
? for you, Brett... I have gone through in ESV and added James to my list by paragraphs. Now today I memorized Ch 3 verses 6-12 but they just do not credit... it still shows them as undone on my page. I deleted it and re-imported it, but it still doesn't work... any ideas for me?
I love this site... it is my favorite site of any. :)
Brett, all of the sudden, I am being asked to type the entire first chapter of James in addition to the verses as I memorized them. That's not a problem, except that when I get to the word 'double-minded' the rest of the chapter will not match with the words that I'm typing. It's quite annoying. Could you fix it please?
Thanks!!
Hi Janet! You'll need to select the verses from here in the group. As of yesterday, there's a new feature on ScriptureTyper that auto-converts the group verses to any translation you like. Just look for the translation drop-down list when selecting a collection from the group. Blessings! -Brett
I memorized James several years back, but haven't kept it up. I"d like to review it, but want to do it in the NIV. How can I join the group for encouragement and acceptability but still do it in NIV? I've uploaded the verses on my own, does taht work?
James 2:18-20 has changed. The spacing is completely different. It wasn't like this last week. Thanks for fixing it!
I'm working on James 5 and some of the spacing there is really off; I think around verse 9 and following. Thanks.
James 1:5-8 has a typing issue beginning with the word "double-minded." Thanks so much for fixing it!
Is there a way to group the verses in chapters 3-5 into two or three verse segments like the first two chapters, rather than going to individual verses?
Hi Julie, there have been intermittent problems with this. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. What web browser are your using?
Thanks for letting me konw Cynda. There were extra spaces in those two verses. I just removed them, so they should line up now.
I'm still having trouble with James 1:5-8 (starting on the next to the last line and going through the end of the passage) and James 1:9-11 (it starts on the first line but is fine the rest of the verse). Thanks!
Just fixed the typing alignment issue on the site. Please let me know if there are any specific verses that still aren't aligning for you.
My typing is not lining up with the words on the screen either.
Yes, I noticed that on a few verses. I haven't figured out a way to correct it though.
I've just begun work on the book of James and have found that some of the verses do not track correctly. In other words, when I type a word it shows up behind other words on the page. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you correct it?
In my personal collections of James 1 and James 2 which are all checked as memorized, most of my divisions of verses are the same as this group but it doesn't recognize my previous work.
Brett - this rocks - i just realized that if my personal verse groupings match the Group, it recognizes my individual group, including the verse numbers! For example, i have James 1:5-8 memorized already and when i added the whole collection it check marked that one and had the verse numbers!
hi James group - I saw this group and thought i would check it out. Do you know each other from a church or other group? I agree with Rebekah and LoveRules - i have a slightly different schedule on the other James verses; i also add the verse numbers. Blessings to you all!
I agree with you LoveRules, I would also like that feature included. That way, if we had already memorised a passage we wouldn't have duplicates if we did it with a group afterwards.
Alex, you can also change the translation of any verse you have imported by clicking on the "edit" button next to the verse in your verse library. The edit button looks like a pencil next to the verse when you are on the website. Let us know if you have any other questions!
When I added this group's ch 1 & 2, it doesn't recognize that I've already memorized them in my own collections, so I have to start over with these. I'm thinking this will mess with my review schedule also (I'll have two of every verse)? I suppose it never hurts to review more, but it would be nice to have ST groups recognize the record of verses already worked on in other personal collections.
Chapters 4 & 5 are on the way. McKenzie will be adding them in the next couple of days.
Alex, I clicked on the tab, "scripture memory" at the top of the page. then clicked on "preferences", then chose KJV. When I chose to add the collections to my review it automatically put it into the KJV for me. I hope that helps. By the way, how do I add chapters 4 and 5? does anyone know?
I like the idea of groups but would like to be able to chose my own translation for the verses I am memorizing with the group.
For example I am currently memorizing James in NIV 1984 but this group is based on ESV. I am not sure of this is a possible change for the site or not. I have left the same feedback on the site Contact Us page.
