Memorization is not required, but there are several different wuestions that are asked and a few of them are memory verse questions. Nazarene Bible quizzing is a really great experience for all youth. Those who memorize a lot in quizzing get a lot of Bible knowledge even after they graduate from quizzing. There's a regionals and a National you can go to if you qualify. And there's even an event called "Q" every other year that anyone can go to Nationals without having to qualify. There's even Bible quizzing for those under 6th grade called children's quizzing.
Bible Quizzing is a great activity for youth grades 6-12. My quizzing team I'm in gets together at our church and study a chapter of the Bible each week of the year. Then, each month we get together with other church Bible quizzing groups to quiz on questions from the Bible. There are lots of people who memorize scripture that join this community.
