Aw... hey, who wants to read my book? tell me if there is anything confusing or not right.
understanding, Chapter 1
Why was she here? Just looking up at the sky, trying to figure out why she could not see the God that her parents believed in? Why can’t she just go to a supposed heaven because her parents believed? How does it work? Where was the God that supposedly created everything? Who was in control of everything? Why didn’t He stop sin? Too many questions, so little time. She wanted to believe, it was just she couldn’t believe until she figured it out. That was what she did with all religions; she tried to figure it out. Like the theory of the big bang, the evolution of humans, and all other religions. But somehow this religion was different, for once; she could not figure it out. She wanted to find out how this religion worked, the one weakness that made the religion false. Her, being twelve, wanted to understand everything. But somehow, she could not find a break in the religion. Yes, these people believed in a God that was invisible, but somehow she could sense His presence. It was like He was there, but He was also not. But if He was real, why wouldn’t He show Himself and stop all sin? Samantha was confused; it was strange being confused for someone who usually was not. Her parents had been believing in God for only four months, and they had trusted in the “Savior” and gotten baptized. Now, Samantha was the type of person who wanted to figure things out (by wanted I mean needed). The sky clouded up.
“Samantha, come here before it rains!” her mama said.
“Coming, mama” she said.”
Why did she have to obey? She liked the rain. But then, she might miss supper. And her mama’s food was delicious. She came in the house. She was still kind of in awe of they had moved. It was the most beautiful place in the world!! They had bought a private property, and it had a waterfall!! Not that is was not expensive, but Papa had promised that they were staying there for good. Papa had a “traveling foot”, that’s what Mama had said. Papa had been an archeologist before Samantha was born, and he missed exploring the world. They moved about every year. It was hard on Samantha. She sat down at the table.
“Hey, mama, what’s for supper?” she said.
“Sweetie, its Just spaghetti.”Mama said.
“Oh, I like spaghetti.” She said
“Sam, what were you doing outside? Not trying to catch one of those helpless baby rabbits, hopefully.” Mama said.
“Really, Mama? I already have a kitten.” She said, laughing.
“I’m kidding, Sam.” Mama laughed.
Mama handed Samantha the food, and then got some herself.
“Mama, when is Papa going to get home?” said Samantha.
“Well… before you came inside I got a call from him. He said he would be home at ten.”Mama said.
“But he said he would be here early today, and we would go to the movies!” She said.
“Well, I’m sorry, but you know how important this business meeting is to him. He could be promoted. Then think what a much better life we would have. You would get a better painted room, and maybe I would get a new kitchen” She said that a bit too excited, so Samantha knew she was exaggerating a bit.
“But-”she said
“No buts, huts, or coconuts” Mama said that with a twinkle in her eye. Samantha knew that there was something else going on, but she didn’t say anything and went to her room. Her room was a deep greenish color which Samantha hated. Samantha hated that color ever since she threw up all over the floor, when she was eight. She lay down on her bed. Her bed was the nicest bed in the world. It hanged down from the ceiling, kind of like a hammock but a bit different. It was aqua, and was sort of tilted up. It also had a mattress that was meant for that bed. She loved her bed. She flipped the TV on. There was nothing good on. She switched the channel to Netflix. Not anything good on, either. She shut the TV off. She looked at her bookshelf. She was in the middle of Island Of The Blue Dolphins. She liked Scott O’Dell’s books. She picked the book up. She suddenly sank into the world of Karana and her brother being left behind.
………………………………………….
The next time she looked at the clock it was nine forty-five. She was delighted! “Now Papa will be home soon!” she thought. She had finished the book, so she went downstairs to find her Mama.
“Hey, Mama.” She said.
“Hello, Sam.”Mama said.
“Is Papa coming home soon?” she said.
“Yes, he is on his way.” Mama said. Just then Papa walked in the door.
