Hi, I‘m memorizing the letter of Paul to the Romans. But I‘m using a German Bible translation. Is there a way that my verses can be included in the number of verses current in this Group?

I only see three collections for this group, and they are all identical (chapters 1, 8 and 12 of Romans). Yet, some people in the group have more than the combined number of verses for those three chapters memorized . . . please explain!
I just started memorizing Romans today!
Please join MemorizeGod'sWordTogether, it is a very encouraging and active group. Thanks for the consideration!

For the anonymous person asking how to change your profile picture and name, you do not have to have the full version. It is under settings but you just need to find the thing that says profile. You click that and it has everything about your profile that can be changed.😁

Hi everyone is it OK if I join the group
hi guys I am new to the group but this will be hard cause I am learning Hebrews and Galatians so its just going to be hard ☺
I just started. How exactly does this work?
I am new to this group. Thank you for explaining how groups work.
Hey guys! Just joined and I’m currently working on Romans 8!
4 (B). An admin may add verses on that group. Press the button group verses then scroll to the bottom to show you the button, add verses. Then it will give you the list of all your collections and you can press the checkbox if you want that one added to the group. There is more i may be able to tell later if you want. Bye!
4. The leader (or the person that started the group) may make members admins. It is like promoting someone's rank. It gives the member more freedom with being able to do stuff in the group. Let me branch off on what an admin can do:
3. This one you most likely know but if you don't, I will explain. Press on 'message wall' and this message chart thing will show up. Then start typing in the box on the left side of post, and when done trying lightly tap the button that reads 'Post.' That is how you post a message. You can scroll down to see other messages and it shows their picture on the left, their nickname on the top left/middle, and the date and time on the top left.
2. If you press the button 'group members' it will show the long, or not so long, list of people in the group. This group has thousands of people. Most groups only have like 1 or 2 though.
1 (B). Then press on the collection with the deck mark to start memorizing. It will show up as a normal collection and work for he most part in the same way.
1. If you want to memorize group verses press of 'group verses' then it will take you to a screen with lots of few group collections. if you press the a heck box on the left it will ask to keep this version or choose another version which I would recommend choosing another version. Then, after choosing your version then it will ask about importing the verse(s) and press the button that says 'import verse' or something like that and then it will take a while to load and the verse will show up with a check in the checkbox.
Saint Jow A. Adu, so you are wondering about how this group works? I think I can tell you a little about groups in general:

So is anyone else in here and I am just starting. How far you?
Please can someone help me. I have been memorizing verses for a few months and now I wish to join the Romans Project. However I still wish to continue with my other verses. How can I keep the two separate?
@LeahinTexas: So sorry for the trouble. The stats you saw were based on the old review system. This has now been fixed and all of your group should have accurate stats based on the new review system. Thanks for your patience during the transition. Blessings -Brett
For every group that I am a member of, my verse count is wrong. Yet, it seems that other people's verse counts are correct, because some members are getting credit for every possible verse they can memorize in the group.
Specifically:
The Romans Project
It says 34 verses current, it should be 122
Memorize the Mount
It says 7 verses current, it should be 50
Isaiah: Eight Chapters
It says 12 verses current, it should be 58
Psalm 119 Word Lovers
It says 0 verses current, it should be 12
Jesus Project
It says 4 verses current, it should be 14
Psalm 51: Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God
It says 0 verses current, it should be 2
As silly as it may be, I use my ranking in groups and my overall ranking as a motivator. So this is de-motivating! And it make me wonder if my overall ranking is accurate as well.
Is this something that Scripture Typer can fix?
Welcome, A Fellow Disciple! If the Romans verses you have already memorized are broken out identically to those in the Romans Project group (e.g. Romans 1:1-2, etc.), then Scripture Typer will automatically merge them. However, if the verses are broken down differently, then you will essentially have duplicate entires. The best way to work around this, if you want to track with the group, is to delete your previously memorized Romans verses, and "re-memorize" them with the group. You can manually change your review frequency with the free Scripture Typer app, so you won't have to feel like you are starting over. We will have this feature available on the web in the near future, as well, but you will need to use the app for this for now. However, whatever changes you make on the app will sync to your account online. Hope this helps and answers your question. Thanks for memorizing with us! We are glad to have you!
I have several Romans verses memorized on my own and have recently Joined the Romans Project. How can I get the work I do on my own verses to sync to the Project? Or do I have to "master" the verse twice?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi! I'm trying to memorize the entire book of Romans and I figured that here is a good place to start!
Hi everyone! I am planning (Lord willing) on writing about book about memorizing Scripture. I would like to include some of your tips and testimonies to encourage my readers. I have a forum here that you can answer some of my questions, in the hopes of benefiting my future readers. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PWlE8XDune0oge-V4lary_7DOGOeld66s28Ck7eOroE/viewform?usp=send_form Thank you so much for taking the time to be a blessing and an encouragement to those who desire to pursue the knowledge of the Lord through the habit of memorization.
I apologize for the confusion. You only need to select one of the sets. We can't delete the other two sets, or it would disconnect any members who have memorized from those sets.
I was also interested in joining this great group but having same set of verses in three sections is bewildering
This group was created before it was possible to auto-convert verse collections to a different translation. The 3 collections were for 3 different translations.
That is cheating because you guys are memorizing the the same verses over and over again since you have three verse groups but there all the same verses
Yes, there is a Jesus Project page in the group list.
Has anyone created the new memory project for 2014 started by Ann VosKamp called "the Jesus Project"? The focus is on select verses from the gospel of John. Scripture Typer made all the difference for me last year in being able to memorize Romans 1, 8, and 12 and I want to continue with this for this year's new project.
I'm so excited to be in the final verses of Romans 12! I have put tunes to each week's assignment--everything from hymns to Elton John to Abba. I am ready to make another booklet for 2014!!
Memorizing Romans over the past year has been a life saving thing. When I could not do anything but cry, it helped me put my mind on my Savior. When I could not do anything but lay in bed at night and fear, taking my iphone out to type out the Scripture was amazing. We should praise Him that we can have Bibles. Susan
Welcome, Sherri! Don't let the enemy discourage you. It's never too late to memorize God's Word! This group will be around for a long, long time. :)
Is anyone else just staring? I just came across this and am thrilled. I am starting today but know that most of you are half way done.
Hi, LeahinTexas, regarding your most recent post, you probably had trouble seeing everyone in the group because your browser wasn't able to pull up that many people at once (almost 5,000 people!). When you get that message, if you lick "continue" and wait awhile, it should eventually finish loading. You can also always see your overall ranking in the bottom navigation bar. While this ranking is not specific to The Romans Project, it can also help to motivate you! It helps me!
When I try to see the list of all the people in the Romans group (to see where I rank -- this helps motivate me!), I get this message:
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Correction to previous posts (sorry!): 1) look over verses to be memorized in the Review section. 2) notice lowest-numbered two-verse passage from Romans in list. 3) click the Romans Project on the right side of the page. 4) Click on the red "The Romans Project" to have the list open of all the verses open. 5) select the two-verse passage that I noted in #2 to review. 6) after successful review, select "Next Verse" and it will go to the next verse in Romans (because that is where you are reviewing -- within The Romans Project , not in your review). Then I continue to the end of all my verses that I have memorized. Again, sorry for the wrong info earlier.
I should have said: and after I review that one, click on "Next Verse" and it would go to the next verse in the passage. (Example: Romans 1:15-16, Romans 1:11-12 and Romans 1:17-18 are due -- in that order. I would start with Romans 1:11-12 then click "Next Verse." It would go to Romans 1:13-14, then when I click "Next Verse" it would go to Romans 1:15-16.
Regarding verse order (winslowlady and McKenzie G.):
I realized that I could scan my verses that are due for a review, pick the earliest one from a passage (the one with the lowest verse number), and after I review that one, click on "Next Verse" and that keeps them in order. I had the same issue: verses being out of order in review because I had reviewed some less frequently. ***I think that I will try a suggestion from the forums, the memorizing section. I will pick a day of the week and start at the beginning and review all the verses, one after another.
Hi, winslowlady! There are only two ways I know of that your verse order could get out-of-order like that. 1) Based on your review schedule. Verses that need to be reviewed sooner will appear on top in your review library. On the Review page, it will show you the total # of times you have typed a verse from memory and how many days until review is needed. You may need to review certain verses more frequently until all your verses are on the same schedule. That way, they will appear in order. I hope that makes sense! 2) If you are using the app, there is an actual "Rearrange" button that will allow you to reorder verses in any collection. You may have accidentally hit that. If so, you can fix it by going into the collection, hit the "Rearrange" button, and select "Bible Verse Order", and the verses will be put back in order. I hope that all makes sense and that one of these scenarios will fix it for you! Blessings, McKenzie
Hi, debacon! This group page is specifically for Ann Voskamp's The Romans Project group. You can get started by following the Instructions at the top of this page. First, select one of The Romans Project boxes (it doesn't matter which one) on the Memory Verses tab. A pop-up will appear with a drop-down menu to select your translation. Now you are ready to start memorizing! To get back to your verses in the future, simply login to the website and go to Scripture Memory>>Verse Library. Your verses will appear in the right column. Let us know if you have any other specific questions! Happy Memorizing!
Becky that is awesome. I keep thinking I have Romans 1 and most of 8 memorized but those little "ands" or "if" or "but" keep me frustrated! And I seem to have verses memorized but the review verses are messed up and so I don't review one after the other. So when I go from the top down, I don't know what verse comes next sometimes. I don't know how the review verses got scattered up.
I read about this project on Jacque Watkins site the button leads to here. I joined here, but I am not sure what I am to do. I have left Jacque a comment as requested on her blog, indicating I would like to join her group. Is this a landing stop for all groups going for encouragement and prayer? Blessings
Romans 1:29-30 and 31 are tough with all those descriptive words!
....filled with wickedness, evil, greed and depravity....
....full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice.....
.....are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful....
....invent ways....
....disobey....
....senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless....
21 descriptions to remember!
Becky -- Wow! The whole book! Good for you and good luck!
I just finished Romans 1 last night. I want to memorize the whole book, so I'm moving on to Romans 2. Maybe if I go quickly, I can meet y'all for Romans 12?
Thanks, McKenzie G. That is amazing! No, I am not one of those people, either.
Hi, Leahin Texas, sometimes people memorize the verses in multiple translations! That takes a lot of talent! I am not one of those people. :)
PamOBrien thank you for the visuals for computer screen! (Maybe put your blog address on photo?)
I'm curious why some of the members on the Leaderboard have more verses memorized than are in these three chapters. Maybe they have memorized additional chapters? Just curious!
Hi Cynthia! When you select the verse collection from the Memory Verses tab, there will be a drop-down list where you can choose your translation. NASB is in the list. Blessings, Brett

Is there any way we can add a different version to *this* project? I use the New American Bible and it's not on here...
Natalie, we are currently on Romans 1:25-26 until the 10th. I am a bit behind, but I hope to catch up. You can read the schedule here- https://s3.amazonaws.com/a.voskamp/BlogFiles/RomansOneEightTwelve.pdf
Hi Madre! First, check out the Getting Started page on the main menu under Scripture Memory->Getting Started. Then, come back to the Romans Project group page and select the verse collection from the Memory Verses tab. The verses are already entered for you, and you type them to make memorization easier. Please let us know if you have questions! Blessings, Brett
where can i find the Romans "cover" in a printable format?
I don't think I understood correctly..does this mean I am to type in the passage from my bible repeadedly on this page in the effort to memorize
How many verses are we to have memorized by now?
Has anyone else had a prayer request disappear from the prayer request list? Mine has been on there for a week and I went to update my request, but I can't find it anymore.
Thank you Pam. I love these and make them my wallpaper every week.
Posting scripture pictures to enhance memorization. Feel free to download to your desktop:

Hi, Sarah, I am not aware of a Twitter hashtag for The Romans Project. You could check on Ann Voskamp's site, too, to see if she has created one.
Is there a Twitter hashtag for this project?
Jennifer, P.S., the option to check the Romans Project box should appear during the posting process when you click on the "Add a New Prayer Request" button on the "Prayer Requests" tab. Hope this makes sense! But that button should guide you through the process with everything you need to post your request to this group.
Hi, Jennifer, you may have already tried this, but click on the "Add a New Prayer Request" button under the Prayer Requests tab, and it will guide you through the process of posting a prayer request. Blessings!
Alison, we have tried to duplicate the problem to fix it, but verses 15 and 16 appear for us, so we're not quite sure what is causing the problem for you. However, you can add (or import) Romans 1:15-16 on your own, then add it to your Romans Project collection by checking the Romans Project box when you import the verse. Your progress on those two verses won't be included with the group progress, but at least you will have all the verses in one place for review. Sorry for your trouble!
Hello,
I'm having trouble posting my prayer requests! They do not appear when I post them. The first time, I ended up Contacting Scripture Typer and Brett responded to me and posted in for me. I have since tried two more times, and cannot figure it out. Once, I managed to find a place where it said The Romans Project with a box to check, but I cannot find that place again. Today is a hugely critical day in regards to my request, and I covet your prayers!!! Please help me, as I keep trying to succeed and cannot.
Hi :) I'm using the NIV 1984 version and it seems that verses 15 and 16 are missing. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it possible to add them to the Romans Project group of verses? Currently I just added those verses as stand alone verses. Thanks! :)
Hi everyone, I just found this site today and am anxious to get started. verses 1 and 2 took me an hour. Hopefully tomorrow i won't be so slow. Looking forward to keeping up with how everyone is doing. blessings to you all, Kim
Hi Lu! The iPhone/iPad app is available in all regions. Be sure you have iOS5 installed on your iPad. It's a free update. Just install/open iTunes on your computer and plug in the iPad to update it. Blessings, Brett

Hello,
I have started using this website last week and I really can see how helpful it is - somehow my verses feel more "solid" in my memory now :-) I would love to install the app on my ipad, but I cannot find it through the apple store - is it because I live in South Africa? Is it not available here? Many thanks
Here is my schedule through March. (Dates are Sundays)
Week 1, 12/30: Rom 1:1-2
Week 2, 1/6: Rom 1:3-4
Week 3, 1/13: Rom 1:5-6
Week 4, 1/20: Rom 1:7-8
Week 5, 1/27: Rom 1:9-10
Week 6, 2/3: Rom 1:11-12
Week 7, 2/10: Rom 1:13-14
Week 8, 2/17: Rom 1:15-16
Week 9, 2/24: Review/Catch-up
Week 10, 3/3: Rom 1:17-18
Week 11, 3/10: Rom 1:19-20
Week 12, 3/17: Rom 1:21-22
Week 13, 3/24: Rom 1:23-24
Week 14, 3/31: Rom 1:25-26
I have typed up the schedule and the verses from NIV84 in a (very plain) format to fit in a Moleskine Cahier (spelled right! I thought it was supposed to be cashier, but Cahier is correct.) I will try to put that on Scribd and then others can use it.
Link to the Moleskines:
http://www.moleskineus.com/moleskine-cahier-notebooks.html
Let me know if you see errors, please!
deidre, I was scheduled to learn Romans 1:15-16 this week. I try to start on Sunday. Did not get to work on it as much as I had hoped, so it is still not mastered, but that is where I am.
I have gotten off track, can someone tell me what verses the group is currently on? I want to catch back up.
Thanks
Thanks, Brett! That makes sense. Thank you for your work on this program. It has been such a help to me!
Hi @RaisingEbenezers! You are correct on the way the app/website currently function. We will be updating the website to also only increment review counts once per day. This keeps the review list from getting jumbled up, and also keeps verses from being pushed way out in the review system. We've found that pushing a verse out 10 days because you memorized it 10 times in one day is not beneficial for long term memory. It's just taking a little time to get the website updated. Blessings, Brett
I realize this is a First World suggestion, but I have found the iPhone/iPad app definitely worth the price of $5.99 (think that is what I paid) because it allows me to practice no matter where I am. If you have both iPhone and iPad, you only need buy it for one of your devices b/c of the sharing by iOS. So glad to be part of this group. Blessings!
Am I doing something wrong... I think the app only records one successful attempt per verse per day but I think the website counts each one no matter the day. I was hoping the app would count each one. I find the tally to be encouraging to review it more than once a day.
A heads up for anyone who wants an alternative way to practice: I just bought a Keeplets bracelet last week, and this is an *awesome* way to keep your verses on you throughout the day. I'll be buying one for my sister, who is also doing the Romans Project (shh! don't tell her!) :) Thought y'all might be interested. http://www.etsy.com/shop/keeplets
Thanks, Brett G. Great directions. I now am set up with the version I wanted. Appreciate your help. Blessings, RLC
Melanie and momofmany, the hyphen and spacing problem should be fixed now, but please let us know if you have any other problems! Spacing errors caused by hyphens usually happen if there are two spaces after a hyphen. If anyone runs into this again, you can edit the verse (click on the pencil next to the verse), remove the extra space, and save the change. Blessings!
Hi @RLC! To change translations, first you'll need to delete the ESV collection that you selected. To do this, go to the scripture typer home page (home link at top left) and then you'll see the collection on the Right Panel under The Romans Project Group. Click the tiny x icon that appears when you move your mouse over the collection name. Then come back to this group page and re-select the collection, choosing the translation you want from the drop-down list. Please let me know if you have any trouble. Blessings -Brett
Hi @Carla! There was a bug in the system that put the text from subsequent verses in with verses 1-2. You'll need to edit the verse (tiny pencil icon to right of verse reference) and delete the extra text beyond verse 2. Sorry for the trouble. Blessings -Brett

Thanks, NanJ. Appreciate your help. Now, I need to know how to change my version selection for the Roman's Project. I mistakenly picked ESV and want NIV and just can't figure out how to change it. Thanks, RLC
Also, I am trying to learn verses 13-14 and they are not in the list anymore. I see 11-12 and 15-16, but not 13-14.
I am having trouble reviewing verses 1-2. It always makes me do 1-6. I can review verses 3-4, 5-6 by themselves, but not 1-2. I am using the ESV version.
I am having the same trouble as Melanie.I am using NIV1984 version.
Melanie, what version are you using?
Is anyone else having trouble typing in the current verses (1:11-12)? I get verse 11 in with no trouble, but after I hit that hyphen after "strong" the words don't line up. They still show up as correct, but it looks as if I'm missing a word when I finish.
Here's a wonderful web site that I use every day and I highly recommend it. It is what I used to discover what translation Ann was using for The Romans Project. :)
http://www.biblegateway.com/
I discovered (the difficult way) that Ann Voskamp's Bible memory cards are from the New International Version, not to be confused with the New International Version of 1984! Hope that helps, RLC.
I am trying to figure out what translation Ann Voskamp is using in her Romans Project. New to this website I just clicked into the ESV but that is not the version, and I am unclear how to change to another version. Appreciate any help. Thanks.
Hi, Krista, sorry for the problem with your verse count. There was a bug that was throwing verse counts off for a few days, but it is fixed now. Let us know if you still have any problems!
Scripture Typer pulls verses directly from each translation, but it's always a good idea to read through them and make any necessary edits before memorizing. If you need to edit a verse, just click on the pencil icon next to the reference. Happy memorizing!
Hi, everyone! Several of you have asked how to find the verse schedule. You can find it on Ann Voskamp's website at this link: http://www.aholyexperience.com/2013/01/the-1-habit-god-really-wants-for-your-new-year/
Enter the Type It mode for the verse. Hit the edit button on the top right corner of the keyboard. This will open a window that allows you to modify the text of the verse. Change it to match your bible
I picked ESV but have come to memorize vs 13-14 and notice Scripture typer is different than my ESV bible. Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks for the link for the year's verses. I needed that too.
Blessings,
Janis
the last two days I've been typing verses and it says congratulations you have the verses memorized but they are not being added to my current verse count??? I should be at 34 now but it still says 30. I'm glad for the practice but am I doing something wrong?
https://s3.amazonaws.com/a.voskamp/BlogFiles/RomansOneEightTwelve.pdf
Here is a link to Ann's PDF file. It has a calendar with the verses for each week and cards that can be printed out. I find this very helpful too
Thanks Diane K for your response - that makes a lot of sense and will be easy to follow! Blessings!!! :-)
To all who asked about the schedule: it is 2 verses per week for the year so you can figure out where we are by how many week into the year we are.
Like Kenna I have also been wondering how everyone else seems to know the schedule that Anne's set out. Where do we find this? Thanks!!! :-)
I started late and had almost caught up when our whole family got very sick for over a week. I'm just starting 7-8 and trying to catch up! Thanks for all the inspiration I see on this wall it has helped me keep going when I felt like I was too far behind and should quit. :)
Hi Everybody! I hope you are having a great day! God bless you!!
Thank you Pam. Love your scripture pictures.
This week's scripture-picture is available for your desktop, if you like... http://thankfulexpressions.blogspot.com/2013/01/romans-1-9-10.html
Scripture picture is up for Romans 1:7-8 ~ http://thankfulexpressions.blogspot.com/2013/01/romans-17-8.html
Feel free to put it on your desktop if it will help.
Carlab, in answer to your prayer request, if you go into preferences and under punctuation check 'Keep going if I miss it' it should really help you. That way you can just skip all the punctuation and don't have to worry about capitals at all. After all if you're saying a verse to yourself or anyone else they're not going to check punctuation so I don't think it's really necessary anyway ;)
Also with the speed, if you type a bit more slowly when you do the 'type' option it will lower your average words per minute and then it won't require such a high speed for you to pass it as memorised.
Hello sisters,
isn’t the verse of this week from the Roman Project wonderful, so exactly pointing want we’re doing: “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.”
Thank you Jesus that we can says thanks through you
Thank Ann for challenging me into this project
Thank you all because we share this faith in Jesus
Question:Is there anywhere I can see the verse we are supposed to be on at any given time, as per Ann's schedule?
Complimentary resources...I lOVE Michael Pearl's teaching on Romans. It's available as a free audio download from his site www.nogreaterjoy.org or as a book. It's really long, though, and I'm not an auditory learner so listening is hard for me...but I just listen to a piece at a time as I memorize :) Here's the link: http://nogreaterjoy.org/audio/romans-audio/
I have also listened to Dr. Vernon McGee and am glad to see someone else has already recommended him. On another note, I'm having trouble with the "Group Versus Current" too. I clicked on it when I had "mastered" the first two (1-2 and 3-4) so it groups those together. But now "Group Versus Current" doesn't appear at all so I can't include vs 5-6. Thanks for any help you can give.
I have a Life Application Bible and was studying the verses I have memorized, reading the notes that go along with it.
I also thought I should listen to Dr. McGee (ttb.org) as he goes through Romans. I love Dr. McGee.
This program has really helped me. I normally struggle at memorizing, but this has really encouraged me. I have my verses at my place at the table and also taped to the bathroom mirror- constant reminders.
TO ADMIN: I think there is a glitch with the "Group Verses Current" count. When I choose to review all verses together it changes my verse for Romans 1:1-2 to Romans 1:1-20 and then ups my current count to 38 when it really should be only 20.
Stacey: in a much earlier message here, Penney answered your question with the following:
To add Romans in your preferred version: Remove Romans from your verse list if you have already added it. Go to preferences (hover over "Scripture Memory" at the top to see preferences). Choose your preferred version and also check the box beneath it so all verses are chosen in this version. Save preference at the bottom of the page. Come back and choose the verse list and it will auto translate to your version for you. Hope this helps.
magician59, I had that problem at first too. If you click anywhere on the screen (even in the box) before you start typing, it won't pick it up. It was really frustrating until I figured it out.
I would like to change the translation I picked. How do I go back and do this? I didn't notice I choose a different translation than the cards that you can print from Ann's site until it was too late.
Hi to everyone.
Ann, thank you for this.
Another complimenting resource to the memory work are the sermons from Don Patterson at
A Reason for Hope - sermon # 1071 - A Change of Heart and sermon #1067 - What is Your foundation - sermon #1061 - God, what are you doing? - all around Romans 8
Sermon Index - just click on the expandable links to look for sermons. Free mp3s.
I started a couple of weeks ago and have just memorised 4 verses. I have discovered a commentary by Douglas J Moo on Romans. A terrific book to read as I progress through the scriptures.
And as per Raising Ebenezer's request for sharing more complimenting resources to our memory work, I'd like to share about the sermons by
Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Here is a brief description I lifted off another web page about him:
The Welsh evangelical preacher Dr. D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones was pastor of London's influential Westminster Chapel from 1938 to 1968. Perhaps his greatest achievement was his series of Friday evening Bible studies on the Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans, a series which took him some 14 years to preach and which he felt was so important that he began to publish it in printed form from 1970 onwards.
Over 1600 of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones sermons can be downloaded and heard for free at the
MLJ Trust website.
366 of his sermons from the Book of Romans are located here: Romans Sermons
Raising Ebenezers: I used html code as described on this page:
HTML page
I just joined. Nothing appears in the window as I begin to type the scripture. What's up with that?
.. and Nikki, how did you insert a link? I can't figure that out. Thanks for yours!
I've enjoyed reading some commentaries & listening to resources pertaining to the passages we're memorizing. This sermon from John Piper was such an encouragement: http://www.desiringgod.org/resource-library/sermons/by-his-grace-for-his-name-through-the-obedience-of-faith talking about Romans 1:1-5. Such an amazing grace we've received for our callings (motherhood, singleness, nursery worker etc.)! Thought I'd pass it along. Anyone else have any good complimenting resources for these passages?
WPM is only calculated when typing verses on the website in "Type It" mode and with your Typing Settings set to "Type Everything". Don't worry too much about this, it's just there because we have some Typing Classes using our system and the students are trying to improve their typing speed.
Managed to memorise the first verse... I think
Jenny, and all, I just started this week too. I have a pretty good grasp on the first 4 verses. I love the ScriptureTyper - it suits my learning style. I just pray I stick with it. I desperately need God's Word in this cold, black heart of mine :-)
Jenny, there's a WHOLE group of us just starting this week...so you are in very good company!
Here are the audio versions of the current Romans Project verses for the auditory learners out there. The verses are from the ESV Bible translation:
Rom 1:1-2
Rom 1:3-4
Rom 1:5-6
Hey Jenny ~ I sure think it's a great time for you to start! I'm struggling with the memorizing the first two verses, so whether I'm right on track or a week behind - I'm going to do this! :)
Dear Liz,
Thanks for the wonderful post yesterday. I felt myself yearning for Christ! I feel so empty and of no value but I know that if I keep my eyes on Christ and listen to Him and do His will, He is and will continue to redeem me and use me for His glory. God Bless, Kim in NC
Is it too late to start?
i did start a week ago but stopped because of stuff going on. havent memorisezed anything yet so i want to start again. is it too late? am i gonna be too far behind.

I like to read in the NKJ and so selected that, but I wish to change this study set to NIV to follow along with comments - how can I do that, short of exiting and rejoining?
When I decided to start this Romans Project for 2013, I decided to use the ESV and I printed out the business card-sized cards to use. Then I saw Ann Voscamp's 3.25" x 4.75" cards and liked how those included neat tools like check boxes when learning and reviewing verses, so I printed those out only to discover those used the NIV version. So, since I have an NIV Bible that I am more used to, I decided I'd use the NIV version instead of ESV to memorize Romans 1, 8, & 12. So I redid the small cards in NIV(1984).... only to discover that Ann's cards were in NIV, NOT NIV(1984)! There IS a difference! I began to think this was the evil one's attempts to frustrate me at the beginning of this venture! :/
Final solution: I printed out the verses in NIV(1984) and glued those onto the cards I had printed from Ann's site! So after all of that.... I'm on the road to memorizing Romans 1 and I'm "on schedule" up to verse 6. :)
Rough start.... but I'm so excited to be on this journey of "hiding God's Word in my heart!"
Hi Laura! Scripture Typer has reminders for review. You can turn on daily or weekly reminders from the main menu under Scripture Memory->Preferences. The iPhone App also has daily notifications that you can enable from Settings->Notifications within the app. These pop up like a text message. Blessings! -Brett
Is there anyway to get Scripture Typer to send you a reminder to memorize your verses? I keep forgetting! Which says a lot about my memory and what a challenge this is for me.
Hi, Raising Ebenezers and all other auditory learners out there! You can also record your verses and play them back on the Scripture Typer iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad app. For visual learners, the app also has a flash cards feature and will even let you draw illustrations to go with each verse. Check it out on the app store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bible-memory-verses-memorization/id496790833?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4
Hi Jennifer! The system only requires you to type the first letter of each word by default. You can change modes and type everything if you like. Just click the Typing Options button at the top left of the Typing Screen. Blessings! -Brett
Hi Everyone! I am just getting started with the Romans Project. I chose the NIV option. When trying to type the verse out in it's entirety I am getting a 12% accuracy, yet if I only type the first letter of each word I get 100% (I figured this out after typing it multiple times and watching the words turn red/green). What am I doing wrong??
I started using your desktop pics I find them very useful as I am on the computer alot. Thanks Pam! I am now working verses 3-4 and hope to be caught up to the schedule by the end of week 3!
There's a new scripture-picture today! http://thankfulexpressions.blogspot.com/2013/01/romans-15-6.html
Feel free to use as a desktop pic... or whatever.
Pat and Liz - we can hang together down in the guadruple digits!! ;-)
FYI there's a new translation selector on the flyout where you select your collections. You can also now type sequential verses as one long passage for review. Just click on any collection with sequential verses and look for the "Review All Verses Combined Together" link at the bottom of the pop-up. Please note, the link only appears after you've memorized the first two sequential verses in a collection. Happy Memorizing!
Pat I just joined yesterday and am trying to catch up too! Just follow ann's tips about basically putting the verses everywhere haha its worked well for me in the past. We can do this :)
I'm just starting my memorizing and am a little intimidated by how far along everyone is :) I'll limp along behind you but will be filled with the Word no matter how long it takes!
For any other auditory learners out there: Romans 1 from the ESVBible.org read by Max McLean, http://audio.esvonline.org/mm/45001001-45001032.mp3
For some diversity, I am memorizing in The Message version...just a heads up for folks: the scripture that comes up is actually verses 1 through 7, not just 1 & 2 :)
For those of you memorizing NIV, I'm making scripture pictures and posting them to my blog each Wednesday. Feel free to grab it for your desktop.

Hi everyone! My name is Aileen and I just wanted to say hello. I am very excited to embark on this journey with all of you. I am an AWANA alumni, so I'm going to stick with the KJV. Blessings!
Hi, Karen, thanks for catching that! Sometimes hyphens create problems, but we've fixed that. Let us know if you need anything else!
For KJV learners, I have a set of KJV memory cards I created that are in the same style as Ann's - with the check boxes and the week numbers. I've only done Romans 1 so far but will do the other two chapters when we come to them. If you'd like me to email you the PDF file, just send me a quick email to jeni@theblogmaven.com. Thanks!
In the ESV, I am having troubles typing Romans 1:11-12. There seems to be a glitch after the word "that"
Hi, Suzanne! To print Bible memory cards for this group, first select The Romans Project category of verses in your Verse Library. There should be a small link at the bottom that says Print Scripture Cards. Click on that. A new tab on your browser will open up with additional instructions. Let us know if you have any more questions on how it works!
Hi, Cindy, after you deleted the versions in your memory verses tab, did you go back to import them again? Once you have changed your preferences so that any verse you import will be in the KJV, go back to the Memory Verses tab on this group page. Select one of the versions again (ESV or NIV). But this time it should import them in KJV, since that is your preference. Let us know if you still have troubles with that.
For anyone else that also would like a different version, select the "Other Version" link above, and it will guide you through the process.
I have selected KJV in my preferences...deleted the versions in my memory verses tab. But still no KJV. How do I get the verses in KJV?
God is SO awesome! Just this morning I read Romans Chapter 1 & 2 and thought that I would like to memorize it. Our Sun School classes memorized books and portions of Scripture. I "happened" to run across this and Ann's blog and here I am! Praise God for providing me just what I needed on the day that I was looking for it!
How can I print my verses out on cards? I clicked on print your verses but it just gives me a message box.
In order to add the NLT you need to first delete te Romans project verses from your collection. Then scroll to the top of the page click on the tab that reads scripture memory, when the drop down menu appears click preferences. From there select the version you wish to use. Save the changes. Then add the Roman Project. The verses will automatically be changed to the version you selected in preferences.
Hi all, how do I get to my prayer list? Also, is there a way to see what verse everybody is supposed to be on, like a calendar?
I dunno how to add NLT :(
Would someone create a KJV collection under the memory verses tab, please?
Scripture Typer should be running much faster now! Thanks for your patience everyone!
To add Romans in your preferred version:
Remove Romans from your verse list if you have already added it.
I also like to memorize KJV :)
How to convert verses to other translations:
From the Main Menu, select Scripture Memory->Preferences. Select your Preferred Translation and check the box to Auto-Convert my verses to this translation. From this point forward, any verses or collections you select will be auto-imported in your preferred translation. Be sure to proofread the text!
I agree...so much easier for memorization. So excited about the Romans Project.
Is it possible to add a KJV version of this Romans Project?
