URGENT!! I seriously have to WARN YOU!! The KJV BIBLE has been CHANGED! (Look up the #MandelaEffect) The Lords Prayer in the KJV is not correct anymore in the KJV (how we remember "tresspasses" changed to "debts" and "those who tresspass against us" changed to "our debtors" and "ON earth" in Mt6,10 changed to "IN earth" - look it up!!!) and John8:32 has changed, as well as Isaiah11,6 changed from "Lion and Lamb will live together" to "Wolve(s) and lamb will live together"

No at least i don't know maybe some one else knows
Does anyone here know of a group in Wyoming or somewhere close to Wyoming memorizing the book of Proverbs?
@Sean: That's an interesting point about reciting along with an audiobible. I'll try that...
Thanks all of you! Your tips were VERY helpful. I really feel like I can tackle my memorizing effectively now. I can memorize verses pretty quickly, but it was the routine for reviewing the verses that I was stuck on. All of your advice really helped. Thanks!!
I agree with SeΓ‘n and gutenburg as to technique: listen firs (your voice or some elses), say out loud to learn, then ST it, and do daily reviews or more for a week minimum,...
As to timing I do it early straight after MTD's or if my brain is foggy, I review first to get my brain in gear (a tip from Rebekah). I spend 30-45 mins most days on reviewing and memorising, but those who pick it up faster and type more quickly, can do much more than me in that time. :) I find once my day starts with other things it is difficult to find the time.
Setting a pace helps, not that I have been good at that lately! I try to memorise a chapter in a week (several verses a day) and then review it every day the next week as well as other review. You will find what works for you. And memoring does become easier over time.
Brenna, From my experience the way Sean does it is one of the best ways. The only thing that I would add is that if you can read the chapter/section/verse aloud for several days before trying to memorize it helps alot. I read that if you read a passage aloud fifty times over a period of time you will almost have it memorized without memorizing it. That was a tip from a man who memorized almost the whole Bible. So I tried it and it works great. I never got up to 50 times but I read the chapters about 15 times over a week or so before memorizing and it was very easy to memorize after that. I try to read the chapters/passages aloud for a week or so before memorizing on ST. After that I try to do what Sean does. I also generally read the passage before I review it. The big problem I have is that sometimes I will skip days and get behind!
Hi Brenna!
Here's two cents. :) I usually try to memorize a verse (saying it out loud) before I ever try to ST it. Thereafter, I master it every day for ten days. (even though it doesn't come up for review) I find I do better with the more concentrated time spent on a passage, and after 10 days I can afford to take ten days off without forgetting it. I usually do a chapter at a time that way. That's in addition to reviewing 4 chapters a day in my review stream (the average I have to do to stay up to date. I usually do a number of chapters instead of just what's due on a particular day because my review stream is otherwise a bit lopsided. (two to three chapters a day in a given week, 7 chapters a day two weeks later.) I find that if I keep up with review, and listen to (and or recite along with) already memorized chapters via audio bible in my leisure time, I don't have to spend much time reciting out loud...
I'm having trouble finding a good daily routine for memorizing. Do any of you have some good "routines?" Like whats the balance between typing on Scripture Typer, and just reviewing out loud? And do you first memorize a verse repeating it out loud, or typing it out? I'd love to hear from some of you on some ideas. Thanks!
I have added the last four chapters. May God's blessings be upon you all as you continue memorising the precious Word of God. :)
What a great story! The conflict between this Jesus and the Pharisees seems to be coming to a head. I just can't see this ending well, but I'm dying to find out!! Do you think you could post the last four chapters? Thank you so much. I really appreciate all the work you put into setting up this group/book.
Chapters 11 and 12 are up... four chapters to go.
Chapter 9 is up. That's all I have time to do at the moment... will do more later.
Sure Liesl we will get to that right away. Should be done by tomorrow evening (Australian Time).
Good morning Scripture-typer friends! Would it be possible to please have the rest of John put up?
Thanks everyone, that was very helpful! I settled on memorizing the verses by the chunks. I found that when I did it verse by verse, it ended up chopping up the chapter in my head. I think this new way will be better.
@Brenna, ditto what Kerrilyn said. I've done both too, but have finally settled for just memorizing the references to chapters/chunks. That makes any given verse easy to find, without chopping things up too much. I like to think in paragraphs anyway...
@Brenna, I do it the same way Kerrilyn does. But if you know it well enough you will remember what chapter it is and probably where in the chapter a particular verse is (but maybe not the exact verse number). When memorizing chapters and books this is how I do it but if it is individual verses or several verses I do try to memorize the reference. I figure if I can at least get it memorized then I can work the exact references later.
Brenna, i have debated that too. For now I just learn them by the groupings within the chapters here but my focus is on the chapter. Not that I have done much in this group. :) Rebekah has done both, but she focuses on the chapters these days. You are correct that when it comes to recall of a particular verse learning verse by verse is more useful. But for me having it in my head so that it can change my life has been my focus. In that respect verses don't matter. So whatever suits you/meets your needs.
I was wondering, are any of you memorizing the reference for every single verse? Or do you memorize by the chapter? It takes much longer to memorize the reference for every single verse, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. It would be nice, because then you would be able to say any verse out of John right off the bat. How are the rest of you doing it?
I am so happy to find this group. I memorized John as part of my homeschooling in 7th through 10th grades. Most of it is very fuzzy and I am eager to get it back. ScriptureTyper is amazingly helpful for this!
Morning fellow memorisers. Like you all I want to memorise this book and retain it. In my hunt for the best way to approach this I came across this book written nearly 100 years ago by a man who actually memorised the whole Bible...it is very comprehensive, though not long, and I am sure you will all gain someting from it. You can view it free here http://memorizethebible.com/ Press onward toward the goal. :)
Happy New Year to you, too! To change the name of a collection, go to the "enter or import verses" page. On that page, just under the verse box, you have a list of your collections. Click on the name of the collection that you want to change, and you will be able to edit the name. To change it on the app, choose the collection that you want to change. On the collection page there is an "edit" button in the top right hand corner, click on that and you can change the name.
Happy New Year Group! Does anyone know how to change the name of a collection from John 1 to John 01? I tried adding the collection, but the name stayed the same (John 1). Thank you!
I will work on chapters 13-17 as soon as possible. :) Oh, and by the way, if you were interested, you could edit the passages for the first four chapters to align with how they are divided up on the group, and you will still have the same amount of reviews.
Can't wait to start. :) I can't bring myself to start over on the first four chapters (too many reviews already on my own collections) but I'll pick up here from 5. One thing: Could we get the rest of chapters 13-17 next? Those are my favorites. :)
Blessings to you through Jesus Christ our Lord. I thank God for this group. Let us encourage each other as we meditate and memorize this powerful Book!
