Sophomores. Jesus is so cool. Harper & sophomore boys - thank you for inviting us Sophomore girls & leaders to partake in a NONcompetitive journey to knowing scripture. Not so oddly, because God pieces everything together, I have been SO frustrated with memorizing scripture. I am just convinced I cannot. I try and I try and I try and I try and it just doesn’t sink in. Or stay. I asked my best friend to give me a positive spin to chew on when I’m tempted to be frustrated and just stop trying to memorize. After some thought, she returned with: Even if I don’t memorize scripture word for word, if can’t recall exactly, I am meditating on truth. Renewing my mind so that it is equipped for every good work. I am hiding His word in my heart (and holding myself accountable to truth) even if it’s a paraphrased version or ‘simply’ familiarity with scripture. There is immeasurable power and value in ANY time spent in the words of God. This has been of incredible encouragement to me. I figured I’d share if you get stumped. Or if you’re kicking yourself because you miss a comma. Or swap some words. Or misspell something. Etc... I hope it’s an encouragement for you as well!
