Select Verse Collections to memorize with this Group.
Since we are now studying Philippians I have added it to the collection. Happy memorizing!
Hi everyone - don't give up now! Keep at it.
Which Psalm shall I add next?
So once you get to a week then it will take you to two weeks and it won't be nearly so hard to keep up.
Keep working every one. It will pay off.
Thanks for the motivation!
How is the memorizing coming everyone? Don't give up!
Thank you! I think this is more navigable, if that's even a word. (-:
I made a change. I have removed the other psalms and added instead Psalm 23 and Psalm 63
and some more... have fun!
Good morning! Do you think we could maybe add another Psalm to work on? I really enjoy memorizing a Psalm along with a new testament passage.
Hi Pieter and John for your verses to register in the group count you have to click on each of the collections and then add them. then it will automatically sync
Tricia, I believe you said you had previously memorized much of if not all of James. You should be able to add those verses relatively easily.
Yes. When I added Sermon on the Mount my numbers jumped up because I had already memorized part of that sermon. So Isaac's 50 are from Psalm 103 and John 17. My 38 are from Psalm 103, John 17 and the Sermon on the Mount. Again, the challenge is retaining it and keeping it current. Also, I have been recommending to my kids to try doing all the verses combined.
So group verses means that Isaac, say, has 48 verses down from the selections that our group is memorizing ie. John 17, Ps. 103, etc combined?
I have added the Sermon on the Mount.
Welcome Pieter! Glad to have you here.
Tricia, once you type out what you remember from James I expect your numbers will soar and it will be the rest of us in the dust
Don't be discouraged Tricia. The challenge isn't memorizing but retaining. We may be ahead at the moment but it will be interesting to see where we are at in a month. Notice it is "Group Verses Current". It takes work to keep it up. I will add James then. Caitlin/Jon what would you like us to memorize next?
Wow, you guys are leaving me in the dust. lol And Steve, you're such an eager beaver. (-: I think that it's a neat idea to learn different passages and be able to verbally share them around. (This really sounds like we're making plans for what we're going to do in prison...)-:) I have learned the book of James with the boys 2-3 years ago, and reviewing it has been smooth so far. So I'll have James to share, well at least the part that I have reviewed, which is about 6 verses. haha My plan is to carry on though, because it's discouraging to have a large chunk memorized and then forget to review it.
Here are some possibilities: John 18, another Psalm, 1 John 1, James 1, Matthew 5-7. You decide. If there is something else you would prefer name it.
Ok we will keep doing the same passages. Shall we pick another chapter in John?
No, not finished yet. I like to work on the same passages, but doesn't matter that much!
Not to discourage those whose pace is a little slower... but I am wondering what you would like to memorize next. One thought I had is that we might consider memorizing different passages so that if ever the Bible were taken from us we would compile our efforts. Or if you prefer we can keep working on the same parts of the Bible.
Yes memorize Psalm 103 as well if you wish... some of us had already started. Why are you already finished John 17??
Are we supposed to be memorizing Psalm 103 as well?
It's a very helpful website!
Great to see your progress Scharringa family!
Yes it is encouraging. Don't you find that Bible memory work is some of the most rewarding work? Slow and steady and we will have John 17 memorized - and once it is there it will always be there!
Hi all! It's exciting that this group is growing! I really like this program because I can add other verses to my list. I've had to help the boys learn verses for various Sunday school classes that they were in, and so I got to learn them too. I've added some of those to my list (Ps. 103) to review. Also, I find that often I have to go back to the first stages of typing the verse out because by the next day, much of the 'newest' verse memory is GONE. lol Slow and steady wins the race. And it will be worth it. (-:
Glad to have you all here! Hope you are encouraged to work at your own pace. By 'littles' big things are accomplished. It may take time but eventually we will have John 17 memorized.
