URGENT!! I seriously have to WARN YOU!! The KJV BIBLE has been CHANGED! (Look up the #MandelaEffect) The Lords Prayer in the KJV is not correct anymore in the KJV (how we remember "tresspasses" changed to "debts" and "those who tresspass against us" changed to "our debtors" and "ON earth" in Mt6,10 changed to "IN earth" - look it up!!!) and John8:32 has changed, as well as Isaiah11,6 changed from "Lion and Lamb will live together" to "Wolve(s) and lamb will live together"

I know a family who didn't print it out
I prefer the SS. But the SG is okay. I do wish you didn't have to print it out though.
I don't know,it might be fun!
Yeah, I know. I totally liked it the other way (Like in 2013) better than it sounds like it will be now! :(
Yeah, we listened to the webinar. There're a lot of changes!
My brother did, and told us the changes. Did you?
Did any of you guys listen to the webinar today?
That was quite odd, being in an Awana bee without knowing it. Oh, and Anna, Kelsey, and Victoria, me too! Turning 15 this month and out of the Juniors. Wow.
Well, good bye, everyone! See some of you in Seniors! @Kelsey: I know. It seems like I've been a Junior for a really long time! :)

I'm going to be a Senior, too. :( I can't believe that that was my last time as a Junior! Time went by too fast!
I'm going to be a Senior, but I'll prolly stay in this group anyway. =)
Yes, we sat next to each other for the Awana thing (I think you said you weren't in Awana, either :)). It was nice to meet you! :)
Me too, Anna. Hey, I remember you from Nationals! I believe I ended up sitting next to you at one point. :) I'm so shocked to have been a Junior for the last time!
Before I leave this group, I wanted to ask how many of you will be Seniors next year. I will.
I'm leaving on Wednesday because I live an hour away! Really nice. I can't believe it's in less than a week! Aaaahhh!
We're leaving on Tuesday (which is way too soon)! We'll probably leave a little after supper, drive through the night, and then get there on Wednesday before registration. It will be nice to be there early. Last year we got in line for registration at 4:58 :). When will you leave and get there? And are you going to the Quizlet meeting?

Thanks! :) When are you leaving to go to Florida? I can't believe how close nationals is!!!!!!!
I may have already told you this because I was so excited with how well it worked, but when I was memorizing Jeremiah 50:22-46, I posted it in my room and every time I went into my room I read one of the cards. It worked really well, and when I memorized it, it wasn't too bad. Hope this helps!
Do you guys have tips for learning 5-card passages? When I go to work on it, I get bored, and then I don't pay attention very well. (and Jeremiah is so depressing.)
I'm doing it today, too. :)
When is everyone doing the Webinar? I'm doing it tomorrow.
I have the iPad app, and sometimes it doesn't show up verses that I memorized on there. Uh oh! I didn't mean to do Type a Message Here!
Do any of you guys have the phone app for Scripture Typer? For some reason the phone app messed up my Scripture Typer account and doesn't count my current verses correctly. Has it done that to any of you?
Do any of you guys have suggestions on choosing key words? I can't ever decide what words are the key words and then I end up with 20,000 key words... so, yah. I need help.
Oh, yah she told me you were there! I wish I knew you were going to be there. :( I'll have to just make sure I see you at nationals!
Ok. I knew that she was traveling, because they're going to be driving through, so we'll get to see them in about a week :)! Did she tell you that we went to one of the Hive meetings when we were up there in August? I was really sad that you weren't there :(. But hopefully I can meet you at Nationals!!!

No, she's not. GermanCello is actually taking a vacation then, and she said that they would be get home not long before the game show and she didn't want to have to hurry to get ready for that. but she thinks the game show is an awesome idea and encouraged me to do it. :)
I've auditioned! My sisters and one of my brothers have, too. My other brother who qualified still hasn't auditioned, but is planning to. Kelsey, do you know if GermanCello is auditioning?
Well, I'm going to audition for it. But so far I'm the only person I know who's going to audition for it.
For me I think it still would be. The awkward thing is that a lot of people would be watching. Especially if you got put on TV, the whole country would see you! :0
If you know your verses solid it's not awkward.
I agree. It would be even MORE verses to memorize, and awkward. I'm not really shy, but I have really bad stage fright when I'm talking. I'm fine playing piano, but giving speeches or reciting, it's just, well, awkward.
@Anna: Yes, I did. I think it would be really fun, but it would also be kind of weird (and scary!) to be on TV. I'm trying to decide whether I would want to audition or not.
@Ellie You're welcome. =)
@Anna I saw it, but I probably won't try out for it. Don't really want more work after Nationals if I do well.
Has anyone else seen the thing about the National Bible Bee Game Show?!
Has anyone else seen the thing about the National Bible Bee Game Show?!
Thanks for announcing, Victoria! I'd given up looking. :)
Ok, now I see. Everything on there is all the same verses. Weird.
Wait, the divisions are mixed up?
Hmmm. It looks like the Junior collections have the Junior and Primary verses, and the Senior collections have the Primary, Junior, and Senior verses!
Y'ALL. They've put the Nationals passages!!!!!
@Victoria: There sure are!
@Kelsey Oh hahaha! Really? That's awesome. =D There are a lot of ties this year. 0.o
That's pretty neat! I tied with a few people.
@Victoria: I heard from GermanCello that you and I tied with our local test score! GermanCello thought that was hilarious! :)
I think Nahum contrasts well with Jonah, and has some interesting things. But it will be harder to study than Ephesians was.
I think they should put in the Nationals verses. I remember they put them a little later last year.
Does anyone know if Scripture Typer is going to put the nationals verses on here, or do we have to enter them in ourselves?
People do ignore those attributes a lot because they don't want to have to admit the fact that if you're not saved you're not getting into heaven. People want to be able to go to heaven by good works.
I actually like Nahum, even though it is rather dark. I think it well portrays the attributes of God which everyone nowadays ignore: His wrath and jealously on wickedness.
Ugh. It's so easy to double post by accident!
Yeah, it is. I actually don't like it that much.
Yeah, it is. I actually don't like it that much.
So what do you guys think about studying Nahum? It's kind of a depressing book.
Thanks, Anna! I'm pretty excited! Congratulations to you too!
@Kelsey: My mom looked at the Oregon Swarm facebook page, and I was looking over her shoulder :). I had already been pretty sure that you and GermanCello had qualified, though, because you had both placed. I really want to meet you. I didn't get to last year :(. @Ellie: Congratulations on qualifying!!! @Victoria: Oh, good! I thought you would be a Senior. Well, maybe since our last name starts with the same letter, I'll get to see you when the test is over :).
@Anna: Whoa! How did you know I qualified? I'm so excited that you made it to nationals! And congratulations to everyone who qualified! Does anyone know when the verses for nationals will be on Scripture Typer?
I hope they do, 'cause I'll need it. 601 verses.... wow.
@Anna: Thanks, I can't wait!!! This is my first year going to Nationals, so I'm REALLY excited. (:
I'm still a Junior. =D Yes, congrats to everyone!!!
@Victoria: Yay!!! I was hoping that you had! Are you a Junior or Senior this year? @Tessa: I don't know. I don't think I'll be memorizing the Nationals verses on here this year. Congratulations on qualifying!!!
Is anyone going to put up the National verses?
Yes I did, Anna!!! I am so excited! And I'm really surprised at how well I did despite the fact I didn't study that much during the summer. And good job to your entire family! Orlando, here we come!
@Victoria: Yes!!!!!! Did you? @All: I looked at the scores on the Bible Bee website, and I can't tell about all of you, but congratulations to Kelsey, GermanCello, and Everett on qualifying for Nationals!!!!!! Lord willing, I'll see y'all in Orlando!!! I was so excited to qualify. After the long wait, I was really thinking that I might not have made it, so I was really surprised with how I did! And my sisters, Joy and Delie (Seniors), qualified, again!!!!!!!!!! And my brothers, Samuel and Thomas (primaries), qualified, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know, that was so annoying! Friday, seriously. About a month, it seemed like!
Good job, Anna!! I really hope I qualify, I miss so many people already!
Our contest day was great! I got 1st in Juniors, but my Bee wasn't very big, so I don't really know how I did. Congratulations to all of you for your hard work and diligence! I'm counting down the hours till the scores are released. I thought that the test was a lot easier than last year's, but I didn't have much time left to check my answers. @Kelsey: If anyone in my family qualifies, then we are going to Orlando!

I know. I'm dying to see my score! Why can't Friday be today? :(
WHAT?!?!?!?!?! O.O Can't even... I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG!!
They changed the day they're releasing the scores. It's now Friday. :( That's way too far away! And I'll be at my church's family camp. :(
Oh, man! Wednesday is soo far away!!!! What's terrible is that my sister and I will be driving to piano lessons when the scores are released. :( That means I have to wait 30 minutes after 4 pm to see my score! :( I am so impatient.
Oh wow, a day and a half until scores are released. I cannot wait that long.
Yah, the CRs were the hardest part. I got second at our hive. And if I qualify, I am so going to Orlando! I hope all of you guys qualify and can come. I didn't get to meet everyone last year!
Well, I thought the test was super easy, however, one thing I struggled with was the CRs. I hardly studied them during the summer, and I don't think I did well on those questions.
But nevertheless, I got first in my division at our Local Bee.
If y'all qualify, will you be bound for Orlando?
It was easy at the beginning, but it got really hard afterwards.
I thought the test was super easy. Though the day felt weird without the oral round. Congratulations, GermanCello, for getting 3rd place at our hive! :) How did you do, Victoria?
How did all of you do? What did you think of the test?
It's so sad. It's impossible to study everything! I guess I'll just have to go with what I know. I'm praying for all of you. Do your best, but remember that God is in control with however you do. And also remember to give ALL the glory to God.
I'm really freaked out. I feel like I want to either laugh hysterically, or cry, or scream my head off. And I get stuck not doing any of that. And it isn't even contest day! Aaaahhh!!
You pretty much explained how I feel! I want to take the test, like, right now, but I still want to have an extra week to learn as much as I can! The day before the contest is the worst day, I think.
Oh my word! The test is tomorrow!! I feel like I know everything but I also feel so unprepared! How are y'all feeling?
Hey, guys! 2 days until the contest! :) I'm praying for you guys!
I remember that question. :) So weird. My sister said that in the Senior test they had some question about getting hit by a semi truck.
The rotten apple spoils the whole barrel (or something like that) question (not sure if y'all remember it) was weird, and I'm pretty sure I got it wrong, too. I don't use a very wide vocabulary, so that was hard.
The closer it gets to contest day, the more I freak out, because you don't know what the test is going to be like! Last year the test was so weird with all those sayings and stuff. I hope they don't do that this year.
I know, I'm really scared. There is way too much stuff left to study!
Is anyone else freaking out? Contest day is only 20 days away!!!!
@everyone: I made a group for memorizing the cross references for Jonah. (I'm having a hard time figuring out how to invite people, so I'm just telling you.) I'm not finished putting all the cross references on there yet, but I have some of them, so if you want to join it's called Bible Bee-Jonah cross reference verses.
@Kelsey It did now. It just took a bit longer than I expected, I guess. Thank you!
@Adeline: Doesn't it change it to your translation automatically? That's what it did for me. (I'm not the admin.)
@Whoever is the admin: Why is there not a NKJV version for the summer passages?
Oops! I always have trouble removing messages, so I'll just leave it here. I didn't know that I was even on here at 1:18 yesterday.
I don't really know, this is just me thinking, but maybe it was because Jonah didn't want to encourage and build up the people in Nineveh, but we're supposed to encourage and build up others. I don't really know.
It seems like some of the key words from chapter 4 may be similar, like gracious (I think that's a key word, but haven't got that far yet). Does anyone really know why 1 Thessalonians 5:11-13 is a Focus Passage? I can't really see enough similarity to Jonah for it to be a focus passage.
I'm not sure. I haven't gotten there yet... We're a week behind because our grandparents came to visit.
I went through my sword study and found all the Greek and Hebrew words that they want us to learn, and I didn't see compassion in there. Did I just miss it, or did they really not choose that as a key word? I always thought that compassion was one of the main themes in Jonah.
@Kelsey: REALLY? awesome! i'm glad you liked it. sorry for not replying sooner. i just got back 2 hours ago from chicago.
@Anna: i'm glad they didn't! if they did there might be some complaints... :)
@TheTawKids: We went to Yakama Washington. We just got back this week. It was awesome. :)
They didn't include that in my Sword Study! :)
He was supposedly insane or something like that.
Did you guys know that Horatio Spafford died in the Middle East thinking that he was the Messiah?
@Kelsey: Have fun on your mission trip! where are you going?
Wow! You guys are fast! I'm on schedule with the SS...not so much with the verses. :(
@Anna: I've finished all my verses. I'm trying to get ahead in my sword study because I'm going on a mission trip, but so far I haven't actually gotten ahead at all. Oh well. :)
Oops! I did it again. @Kelsey: Memorizing is great. SS is good, but I wish I was more ahead. How are they going for you? Thank you for praying for us!
How is everyone doing on their verses and sword studies? I'm praying for you all!
That would be a good idea.
@GermanCello: Are we going to have this years bible bee verses for this group?
Our box came on May 30, which was really good because if it had come 26 or 27 hours later we would have been gone on vacation, and we wouldn't have been able to open it until the 7th. We were still on the road at midnight on June 1st so we pulled over on the side of the road and opened our box! I'm really excited (and surprised) that the book is Jonah! Does anybody have any ideas as to what the nationals book will be:)?
@Kelsey: Lo, I rejoice with thee!! Our box just got here! Yay!
My box came!!!!!! :) I'm so happy!!!!!!! :)
@TheTawKids: I feel your pain. :( But my mom says our box should hopefully come today. :)
I live on the west coast...so the shipping is delayed by several days. Argg! I'm so glad the book is Jonah! That is one fun (well, slightly depressing for the prophet Jonah) book!
@Bookworm Cook: Lol that is so hilarious!
:D Caleb was throwing little Popsicle stick bombs at it. Of course they didn't smash it open. I also thought, "We could open it with a pocket knife. Then we could say, 'We didn't open it; the knife did!'" XD
One way was to put it in a pinata and have the neighbors smash it open. Another way was to take of the Please do not open until June 1st sticker and put it on the neighbor's porch. Then we'd ask ever-so-innocently, "Do you happen to know what the Bible Bee study book for 2014 is?"
Me too! We got our on Friday too. Me and my siblings had lots of fun thinking up ways to "accidentally" open the box! We didn't though.
Oh seriously. Ours got here on Friday and we had to wait and wait and WAIT all through Saturday!
We opened our box at 6:00 AM. That was the earliest we were allowed to wake Dad up to open the box. XD
But still, I'm totally excited! Bible Bee has begun! We're studying Jonah! :) That'll be fun. :)
My box never arrives on time. :( It's always a day or two late. :(
We got it! We just opened it before breakfast.
WHO GOT THEIR BOX?!?!?! WE DID! Remember: Do NOT open it until Sunday, if you have it.
Bible Bee starts on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!!! :)
Of course, I know it's BIBLE Bee, but that doesn't meant the kids won't lie. I hope none of them will, but you never know...
Kelsey: What Everett said. But really, I mean, couldn't the kids just lie and say they did it when they didn't?
We registered, too. I can't wait to see which book it is this year!
I can't wait for Bible Bee to begin!!!!! :) My family is registered.
I like the oral round better than the written, but I get more nervous for orals:). I'm going to miss being nervous. Bible Bee begins in one month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many of you are registered?
I guess we'll all find out exactly how it is going to be during the summer.
It's going to be quite different than other years. *sigh*
@Kelsey: I heard that there will be a question or something on the written test asking if you completed the informal oral round. Honor system...
@Hannah: So, to go to nationals you have to take a non-graded orals? How is that going to work? Do you just say the verses to someone and then they tell the headquarters people that you did it?
@Kelsey: you're so right... I'm glad that the Bible Bee is the BIBLE Bee! :P @Hannah and Anna: That makes sense why they would take out Orals...but to tell the truth, I think I liked that better than the written test (true confessions...now y'all knows the real me...). I mean, the written test was more stressful for me than the oral...
Yeah... I heard the two main reasons they took it out is to take some stress off the hosts and because it is potentially scary for children. :P
I guess I'm not the only one disappointed about orals! But maybe more people will be in it and maybe more will enjoy it because they won't have to be embarrassed by messing up in front two people.
@ Kelsey: Also, it would take time to look up the things... but still. The host decides if you get together or not, and you do have to take non-graded Orals in order to possibly make Nationals.
@TheTawKids: It does seem like it would be easy to cheat if you did it on your computer, but since we're all Christians and we're supposed to be trust worthy.... I don't know. And why remove orals? That's sad. :(
I AGREE!!!!! WHY DID THEY DO THAT?!?! Now I'm really confused...who would go to a local contest if you can just take it from your own computer? and plus how do they know if I don't have my study materials right in front of me at home? it just doesn't make sense to me...
Who else is astonished and disappointed that they removed Orals?
Oh...wait...never mind. I just figured it out. :) They release the MATERIALS on June 1st. You can probably tell I'm tired...
WHAT?! They changed the registration date to April 1st? I thought it was June 1st!
Only 5 days until registration opens!
Only 5 days until registration opens!
I thought so, but I'm really curious. :) Oh well. 66 days till June 1st! :)
I believe that you have to wait till June 1st.
Does bible bee tell you how many verses are going to be in the summer and in the fall ahead of time, or do you just have to wait to find out?
We talked to one of the staff and he said that it has to be within a certain radius of headquarters. And I live 15 minutes away from Disneyland. :)
That annoys me. But anyway, does anybody know if they have a choir?
@Hannah: I guess we do have a shorter drive than some people, but I wish it was in TN again :). Florida will be neat to go to in October (I've only been in June). @Ellie: I agree! @Lydia: I've done it two or three times (on accident)!
I know Kelsey, that is so weird! And they put it in Disney World..... awk.
Hi everybody....I haven't been on here for while. And no Kelsey, I did not mean to post "Type a Message Here". I don't even know how it happened since the last time I was on here was feb 2nd. :)
Happy Valentine's Day!!!!
*snorts* Long drive? We're in Ohio...
I think our family will probably come, but I'm not completely sure. I wish it wasn't in Florida. It's such a long drive even though we live in Tennessee!
You only live an hour away?! No fair! I live on the other side of America. I wish they'd come closer to where I live.
I think I'll go if I make it. We live an hour away from next year's site! Yay!
Did you mean to say that?
Oh, that's to bad that you wouldn't be able to go. :( If any of my siblings or I make it, we will probably go to nationals.
I concur! Especially as we get older we tend to have more schoolwork....so shouldn't we in theory be assigned LESS verses? If y'all make it, are you planning on going it to Nationals next year? My family can't :( because it's too expensive and too far away.
I wish I knew, just so I would know if I should get ahead on school work or not. Also, I just like to know what to expect :).
No, you're not the only one. :)
I kinda wish they would let us know earlier...am I the only one?
I emailed SKF and they said "We are in the process of discussing the schedule and changes for 2014, so I cannot answer your questions at this time."
Does anybody know how many verse the Juniors will have for Nationals next year?
Oh I will still be Junior. One of my sisters will be Junior and the other will be Primary.
oh. Cool. :) Yes, my sister will be in Junior. My brother and I will be in seniors.
@Lydia: none of my brothers qualified but my whole family came. I hope he makes it next year (I mean this year). Next year my family will have (at locals) two Seniors, two Juniors, and two Primaries :). Will your sister be a Junior next year? @Everyone: Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!!!!! (one day late!) :)
@Anna: was your brother at nationals?
@Ellie: Oh. :) It'll always be me unless otherwise noted, since i'm the only Junior in the house and this is a junior grouup
@TheTawKids: And I thought you were probably Lydia but I wasn't sure, so that's why I said I think.
Thanks for all the Happy Birthdays, and Merry Christmas!
@TheTawKids: Because there are three of you.
@Ellie: Happy Birthday! @Kelsey: Your Daddy has a lot of cousins! On one side of the family, my grandparents have 15 grandchildren but only 6 of them are my cousins (the rest are my siblings). @Everyone: Merry Christmas! I still have one more year in Juniors. My sister is moving up to Seniors, so I'm going to miss her. My brother will be in Juniors with me again this year.
Merry Christmas everybody!! @Ellie and Everett: what's with all the "I thinks"?! :P Happy Birthday Ellie!
@Ellie: Happy birthday!!! :)
@TheTawKids: Yes he will. @Ellie: (I think;) My uncle's birthday is very close to Christmas also. But he only gets one set of presents. :)
@Lydia(I think): Yes, I do. It's really weird. My sister Miriam's birthday is in July, so she's right in the middle. I get presents all at once! :) And, next year Miriam is going to go against me! she'll be 12. Awk!
@Ellie: so do you get two sets of presents in two days? My sister's birthday is on the 27th, and some times we give her a Christmas present that we count as an early (and only) birthday present. :) @Everett: is your brother going to be competing against you next year?
@TheTawKids: Yes, it does. It's so weird! At least we don't open Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. That would be weirder. :)

@TheTawKids: I know! I hope so!
@Ellie: Wait a sec...does that mean your birthday is on Christmas Eve?! @Everett: I feel sorry for your friends! Do they have second cousins, though? @Kelsey: That's funny how Louise pretends to be their cousin! :P
i have 0 years left in Juniors. :( But I'm glad because next year i can go against my brother!! @Ellie: Happy Birthday!!!!
I have one more year in Juniors. I'll be 14 in 4 days!
Two of my friends have 0 cousins. @Kelsey: I have two more years in juniors. :)
How many of you guys are going to be juniors again next year?
You only have two cousins? :( That's sad. My sister's best friend only has one cousin, so Louise pretends to be their cousin. :)
You guys are so lucky! I only have two cousins, and they live in New Zealand. :(
Don't ask me how many, I don't know all of them and I didn't count.
Wow! I have a lot of second cousins but not that many.
I have 13 (soon to be 14) first cousins. :) I have tons of second cousins because my dad has 42 first cousins.
I have a lot of cousins too. I have 15 or 16.
@TheTawKids: It is amazing! I once met this girl who knew a bunch of cousins of mine, and I think I freaked her out because I was related to all the people she was talking about. :) (I have a lot of cousins!)
Isn't it amazing when you meet someone on the other side of the US who knows the same person you do from almost a completely different thing?
I'm sure! That's like how I felt when I found out that Tabitha Boulware knows my friend Esther, who I met in Chicago in 2010!
@ Ellie : yeah, I'm super excited about it!! @Josh: thanks!
Wow, that is weird that you both know that same person!
@ Josh: WOW!! I can't believe it!! I only asked because my brother said he saw someone who looked a lot like Matt at one of our quiz meets (the one in Rose City) and I decided to take the chance and ask!!! I'm surprised Patrick remembers me...I barely quizzed against his team at all. I only remember him because of his sisters :), and because I played basketball with him on a two-person team. Plus when I asked him to sign my quizzing book I gave him a pen that had no ink. :) Can you tell him (and his sisters) that I said hi and that I miss quizzing with them? Thanks.
@Lydia I texted Patrick and he says he remembers you from Trinity the church in washington, is that right? He said he you did bible quizzing.
@Lydia, our family and their family have a lot and common. Actually. Patrick plays the viola! We live about three and a half hours away but we get together for the day once a year. His dad, and my dad are both pastors too.
Wow! I know him, but I am not related to him as far as I know. What a small world! How do you know him?
@Ellie: yeah, as soon as they announced the reference the entire conversation on here about Prov 30:1-4 came to mind and nearly made me laugh. @Josh: it is embarrassing! Can you imagine how immature I appear in that picture?!!? BTW, I know I asked you this question before :), but do you happen to be related to a Patrick Cooksey who lives in Myrtle Creek?
@Lidya, I wouldn't say the picture is embarrassing, I would say it's cool!
@Kelsey: That's weird that everyone had the same verses. And, that was really funny that they gave us Proverbs 30: 1-4. I almost grinned, but I was too nervous.
@Ellie: Everyone had the same verses during the oral round. @Anna: I was sooo happy that they put Proverbs 30:1-4 in the oral round! I love that passage (and I know it better than a lot of the other ones they asked!). I was grinning the whole time I said that passage. :)
Does anyone know where I can find videos of the closing ceremony choir? I looked on Google and YouTube but couldn't find anything. The real choir sounds so much better than the recordings. :)
I had both those passages, Anna! do you suppose they have the same list for everyone?
@Lydia (I think): If I try to remove my posts, it usually takes till the next day to work. Awk.
@Anna: I didn't see the message. :D Don't you just hate it when you accidentally post something wrong and can't get rid of it?!
@Josh: I joined the other class! Thx for the link. Ooooh my goodness!!!! That picture is soooo embarrassing!! I remember her taking pictures, but I didn't realize that she actually took a picture right then! ;P
@Ellie: yeah, that's just me and my sister in the picture. My first profile picture has my brother and my sister, but my brother didn't actually use ST so we took his picture off. :)
I just accidentally clicked "post" and so if the message that it sent is still there then I didn't mean to send it (it said "Type a Message Here"). Very embarrassing! @Kelsey: I was expecting after my oral round to have gotten a 280 but every time I thought about it later it went down about 10 points, so I ended up being 3 points higher than I was expecting right before I found out! I didn't pass any of them but I really should have passed Ezekiel 33:30-33. And I started laughing during Proverbs 30:1-4! I just felt weird telling Mrs. W. that I was too stupid to be a man, so I may have gotten a zero on that one.
Hey Lydia, you can see the other bible bee group at this link http://scripturetyper.com/Group/View/40d337bc88/. I like it because it's not bias toward seniors, Jk. Have you see this picture? http://photoshop.biblebee.org/p/processional3/openingceremony-42_28_1_3
(Your sticking your tongue out at the camera, Lol)
Oh, okay. You must have done WAY WAY better than me on written, then. I thought there were two because there are two in the picture.
There's actually three of us. :) but it was Lydia.
@TheTawKids: Who's I? There are two of you.
Yah, matching the references with the verses is hard.
I probably passed around five. Those references mix me up so much. I got a lot of hints.
I probably passed 3/4 of my passages. :) I got 63rd.
I think I made mistakes, but I was so just not thinking that I didn't notice any except one in Jeremiah 17:5-7. I got Revelation something twelve through sixteen, and passed halfway through, I was so panicked. Oral with a ton of verses has never been my thing.
I completely freezed out to at the oral. I didn't pass any verses, but they were all full of mistakes that just blurted out.
I know. On my oral I got completely panicked and passed a lot of verses. It's so nerve-wracking!
I got 68th. :( I was hoping that I did better, because the test was so easy. I did really horrible on my oral. I like, completely froze and passed on verses that I actually knew. :( I'm kind of mad at myself.
I got 55th. @WarriorGirl: I expected worse for my score too.
I got 5th! Congratulations everyone!
I got 43rd. O_O I expected something way worse...
I saw my score! And I am super shocked. I was expecting to get somewhere near last place but I didn't actually place as low as I thought I did. My oral is really bad, though. How'd everybody do?
@Anna: that video was so funny! My siblings and I really enjoyed it. @Ellie: yea, my dad grew up on Taiwan so he's bilingual.
I enjoyed getting to meet many of you at Nationals! I thought y'all might enjoy a video by a Bible Bee family called "You Know You're in Bible Bee When..." It's very funny and I can relate to a lot of it! Here's the link: http://vimeo.com/80671101
Oh. Your dad knows Chinese and English? Impressive.
@ Ellie: we're also here so that my dad can do voice-over for Bill Gothard. I don't know if you have ever heard of him, but apparently he's this famous guy that gives seminars. They are broadcasted in many different languages, and they asked my dad to do the Chinese broadcast because of his previous involvement with Institute of Basic Life Principles (that's the name of thing Bill Gothard started)
Yea, my grandpa and grandma and uncles live in Taiwan. My other uncle and his family actually live in New Zealand, but they're coming to Taiwan for a "family reunion" type of thing. @Hannah: why don't you like turkey?
Having relatives there would explain it.
@TheTawKids: You have relatives in Taiwan, right?
@TheTawKids: That is so weird! Why are you in Taiwan?
You're lucky... I don't like turkey.
You guys are lucky that you're in a land that actually celebrates Thanksgiving....I'm in Taiwan right now and when we attempted to celebrate Thanksgiving we could only find duck and chicken-no turkey.
Happy (late) Thanksgiving everyone!

@Joe and Everett: I concur! Great job at semis and finals!!!!
Thanks, I'll tell her! :)
Wow! Congratulations for making semis, and tell Bethany I said congratulations! (also tell her I wanted her to win. :)
Thanks bro! You did great as well! It was awesome to finally meet you in person, but competing against you was not very funny... :) Congrats on getting 3rd! :)

Great job, Joe! I really liked your recitations.
@Kelsey: Thanks! You all were a great motivation to keep studying - and the countdown...talk about pressure!! @Hannah: Yes :)
@ Joe: Wait.... you're Joseph X., aren't you?
@TheTawKids: I'll be on here! :) By the way, it was nice meeting you. I didn't think there would be any other bible bee-ers on the plane! :) I wish that I was able to meet all of you at nationals! I saw some of you guys there, but I didn't have much of a chance to meet everyone. @Joe: Good job at semi-finals! :)
I have a ton of review, my verses are down to 347! Yikes! And I'll be on here some, whoever posted on TheTawKids. (It was probably Lydia.)
Hi everybody! I guess not many people will be on here now that nationals is over...:(
Well, y'all, we'll be leaving in several minutes. I will be praying for each one of you for a safe journey, and I look forward to meeting y'all! God be with y everyone!
I'm staying in Stone Hill Lodge. We are leaving tomorrow as close to 7:00 AM as possible and getting there hopefully before 5:00 PM
Each building has a name, so when you get a room, it should tell you which building you're in. One building has smaller rooms and is attached to the place where the competition will be. The other building is across the street and has larger rooms with a living space and kitchen, and can be attached to another room if you have a large family. Does that tell you which building you're in?
@WarriorGirl: Do you mean which buildings you're in?
We're staying in the River Lodge, because we got a great deal on a big room for all of us. We leave tonight to sleep in a hotel near the airport. They have a deal that if you sleep there, you get to keep your car there for free. We leave th hotel tomorrow morning at like, 4 am.
We're leaving tomorrow!!!! I saw the countdown.
How did y'all find out? Because we are trying to find out.
@Everett: I'm leaving on Tuesday, too. @AnnaM: Hey, that's the same building my family's staying in! :)
@Everett: We're leaving on Wednesday. We live in TN but we're in the other end of the state, so we won't be getting there until the afternoon. @Lydia: I'm not sure. It's the one across from the road from the convention center.
I'm leaving on Tuesday morning and getting there in the afternoon. Which building is everyone staying in?
When is everyone leaving for Nationals? My family is leaving and arriving on Tuesday.
Thanks so much Everett! It's such an awesome test!!!!
@Kelsey: I so agree with you!
I can't believe how close nationals is! I'm leaving in 2 days! I feel like I could use an extra 2 weeks or so, and yet I can't wait to go to nationals. I'm excited about meeting everyone from scripture typer. :) Nationals is going to be awesome! :)
Sorry, I don't think I did.
@GermanCello: is your last name Cooksey?
@Everett: did you get my email address? i deleted it and then realized that you probably didn't get it yet. sorry!. :)
Same here! I can't decide if I'm more nervous than excited!
The countdown just scared me bad! My family's not going until Wednesday, but that's is still so soon! I'm kinda nervous because I'm not going to know my judges and commanders. My Daddy was out host so I knew almost all the volunteers. I'm also very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have eight siblings. Two older sisters and six younger brothers :).
We have a family in our church who just had their eleventh child. That's the biggest family I know of, besides the Duggars. :)
How many siblings do you have, Anna? GermanCello has a lot of sibs too.
@Kelsey: sorry for not replying sooner. Yes, John Philip was born on the 7th. He seems so small compared to my two year old brother. He's actually the smallest of all of my siblings (when they were born). So I guess I win for the most siblings! If I don't win for that then I'm sure I win for the most younger brothers: six!
that's okay! i can wait. :) thanks so much for makin' it.
Ok, I'll send it. It might not come right away because I have some computer problems...
@Everett: It's you'RE. :) Sorry, but I am a grammar nazi...

It's okay, but it's really hard to do with Bible Bee. I didn't get as much study time in this year as I did last year because I have more work. I
@Everett: How's balancing all your studies and extra-curricular activities going?
Nope, not last year. It kinda defeats the purpose, I guess, but in Semi-Finals they'll probably use them (to nail everyone that didn't review them! :(
do they typically ask any summer passages?

Yep, that's what they did last year. It made me really nervous in the beginning because I didn't think I was going to finish in time.
yikes! i really need to work on my long passages....
@TheTawKids: My sister said that they did a bunch of long ones first, and then they had some short ones at the end of the round. (That was last year, but I don't think you can really say for sure whether they'll do long ones or not.)
But Nationals two years ago was way different than I think it's now.
Umm... I know they wouldn't be on of the three-card long ones. When I was there two years ago, they asked a two-card passage, with a bunch of short or medium passages.
that last question was for everyone. :)
Ok, happy 10th birthday, hannah! :)
By the way, how long are the passages they typically ask you to recite during the oral round?
Thanks, TheTawKids! I'll be 10. :) BTW, everybody can just call me Hannah, instead of typing out my long username. :)
i think my favorite part will be actually meeting everybody from ST or quizlet and seeing them in person. That and the orchestra, and the water park. :)
HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY proverbs_4:20-27!!!!!! How old will you be?
Everything. :) I love every part of Nationals and can't decide which I like best.
What excites me most is that it's on my birthday! There, now pretty much everyone in the world knows that Nats is on my birthday. :) @ GermanCello: NO FAIR! i've never ridden an airplane! :(
Probably seeing all the people I've met on Quizlet and ScriptureTyper face-to-face, the Orchestra, the Water Park, and riding on an airplane. I have ridden on a billion Airplanes, but I haven't been on one for a while.
I think just being there with so many other like-minded people and fellowshipping is what I'm most looking forward to. I also cannot wait to see how well I have studied this year.
That question is for everyone. :)
What excites you most about nationals?
I just took a picture of the bible bee button on the website and squished it together. I am so excited about Nationals!!!
@GermanCello: You switched the group profile picture?! :) Actually, I really like it. :) I can't believe how close the competition is! I'm freaking out!
Thank you so much everyone! I of course don't know them all perfectly yet, but I still am happy!
Yes, we will be going to the fair, it sounds like it's going to be really fun! :)
I think this new one accurately portrays our purpose. ;D
nice group profile picture, GermanCello!
I think we are. My whole family is coming, so we need something to entertain my younger siblings. :)
No - we're going to be going out with some friends. :)
is anyone going to the family fair on Friday night?
Oh yes - forgive me! Congratulations, Victoria!!! Now if I can just get this one verse.....:P
Congrats WarriorGirl!
I'm nowhere near that.... I have 132 verses...
@GermanCello/WarriorGirl: Amen! But at least remember them until Nationals! :D JK, I know you will. Hoping to finish before the wee hours tonight! :D
Party! Confetti! Fun Music! High Five! Whoo-Hoo!! Great Job, Victoria!!! You will be forever blessed with those verses, even if you don't remember them. Think of all that time you have "redeemed", as Paul commands the Ephesians to do in the book we have studied. Quizlet is a great place to study ephesians and even review you passages on.
@GermanCello: Thanks! sorry i didn't see that before! you didn't scare me...i'm impressed with your "detective skills". :)
@Victoria: Great job finishing your verses!!!!!!!
@GermanCello: Wow! You really have a big family! I'm the youngest of three. :)
Yay!!!!! I finished all of my verses! I am so happy!
@TheTawKids: I was praying through the bible bee list of juniors, and I saw you. I also saw your name on the email, with the instrument you played and where you were sitting. I hope I didn't scare you. :)
@WarriorGirl: I have seven siblings, 20 yrs. to 3. six of us have played violin, though my brother went on to play viola and me to cello.
@TheTawKids: I added the summer verses. Even though they say NASB, you can choose the version you want them in. Sorry about the confusion!
Thanks GermanCello for saying I could join! I didn't see till now, thanks!
@AnnaM: Has the new sibling arrived?
@GermanCello: How many siblings do you have? :)
@GermanCello: can you add ESV summer verses? i'm forgetting all of them...:(
Yikes! Identity crisis! :)
How'd you know that I was third violin and how'd you know my name?
Yes! I think I know who you are, too. :)
cool! so is your brother Josh? is Hannah playing violin?
@TheTawKids: I do have a sister named hannah. I have two siblings in the Choir, and you will be sitting a stand away from my brother, who plays viola (for real). :) You will be a third violin, or "viola". I am actually the only Cellist whatsoever. :(
oh! that makes sense. :)
my family's attending on Thursday.
@TheTawKids: You can also ask questions and the bible bee people will answer them.
@TheTawKids: Pretty much you listen to a person talking and explaining about slides that that person is showing on a program. We attended the one on Monday, and what they did was they showed slides with maps of the lodge and the event center, and the lady explained where each event is to take place. I hope that makes it clear. I'm not very good at explaining. :)
What exactly do they do at a webinar?
Sorry...the period in the last sentence was supposed to be a question mark, not a period. :)
@Anna: CONGRATULATIONS!!! Having a new baby is always nice :)
I'll be praying for you guys! Are you going to have a brother or a sister.
@GermanCello: I took my violin as a carry on. It wasn't damaged beyond playability, just that it's quality was all gone after being banged around by some careless people on the plane. Minor things happened, like the bridge moved and the sound post slid a bit. BTW, do you have a sister named Hannah?
@GermanCello, Kelsey, and WarriorGirl: Thank you for praying! We are very excited!!!!!
I just found out that we will actually be doing it tonight. I should have asked sooner. :)
Awesome! I was just wondering which webinars y'all would be attending. @Anna Congrats! I've been praying for your family for sometime now. :)
@WarriorGirl: My family already listened to the webinar. @AnnaM: That'll be so much fun to have a new sibling! :) I'll be praying for your family, too. :)
Congratulations, Anna! babies are always fun. I will be praying for your mom.
@WarriorGirl: We're listening to it tonight. Monday wasn't going to work and so we are listening tonight. On Thursday, I will have a new sibling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, you all take your instruments everywhere! :) Comparatively, my cello is a couch potato! :D Hope transporting it goes well
@TheTawKids: Did you take it as a carry-on? Like your purse? I don't think it would have gotten broken. How bad was the damage?
@WarriorGirl: I don't know yet. My parents haven't told me. :)
@GermanCello: i hope all goes well with your cello! I had to bring my violin with me to Taiwan a couple years ago on the plane...things didn't go too well...at least my violin wasn't broken beyond repair. :)
BTW, which National Bible Bee webinar are you attending?
Yeah, we've done similar things when we've had to carry my brother's violin on airplanes. :) Although with a violin it's probably easier, since it's smaller.
I know! We are planning on stuffing it full of clothes, like using it as my suitcase and duct taping the whole thing around just in case the clasps come undone.
You're going by plane? I hope nothing happens to your cello...
Sorry, TawKids, I had a busy weekend. But yes, I am playing Cello. I am kind of scared about bringing it on a plane. There are a lot of scary stories out there about guitars and cellos breaking on a trip. :\
@GermanCello: Congrats on getting a part in the orchestra!!! :) :) :)
You're not the only one...
16 days!!! That scared me!!! I feel nervous. I still need to do a lot more studying and a LOT more perfecting of the verses.
@TheTawKids and Kelsey: Thank you! That's of me about ten years ago :). It's hard to believe I've been alive that long... :)
@Kelsey: Great job to your sister! I got a part in the orchestra, but I don't know which violin part I'm playing.
@GermanCello: That's so true...I just wish I realized that earlier. Did you get a part in the orchestra?
@AnnaM: Your picture is cute. :)
So did you get a part in the orchestra? My sister's one of the pianists! :) She's very excited. :)
Hey, thanks! I really think that people can memorize any amount of verses, as long as they can convince themselves that they can (or that God can help them).
@GermanCello: that's an awesome way of memorizing!
Are you playing cello for the orchestra?
When I freaked out about my verses, I would set aside a huge number in rubber band bundles, and would tell myself that with God's help, I really could memorize it. Then I would read the passage over and over in a secluded room, and then see if I could remember certain words. It works!
yea...but the problem with me is that i have so many verses left that i couldn't possibly cram all of them! :(
What freaks me out even more is when you think about how many weeks you have left. We only have, like, 3 I think. Scary!!!
Freaking out is good, kind of, because it tells us:" Hurry up! Work hard! Cram, whatever is needed!" which is probably good to be told once in a while.
Ah!!!! i just looked at the countdown and freaked out!!!! that's rather unusual.....i didn't get freaked out before....:)
I really don't think so, but you might be able to ask them (scripturetyper).
i got the app, but it only lets me type the first letter of each word. Is there a option to change that?
@germancello,Anna, and Everett: thanks for the advice of the app!
@kelsy: wow! Your sister has been playing for a looooooong time!
@ Germancello: thanks for being so precise. I think it's only freaking me out more now. :) :) :D *_*
When we get there, and it is also like a timer that will say 10 min. 59 sec. instead of 11 minutes, so we actually have more time than that. :)
What day is the countdown for? The competition day (Thursday) or on Wednesday when we get there. @Kelsey: I was wondering if your sister was Hat Lady :).
@Kelsey - That's cool! My sister has been playing for that long too! @GermanCello - I know, I am freaking out too! It doesn't feel like it's so little time!
AAaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!! 19 days! I was my turn to freak out.
There should be the option somewhere to do term then definition, or definiton and then term, if that makes sense.

It's probably confusing because they just changed the whole format, so it's pretty new to everyone.
Okay, people on quizlet: I went on there to see what it was and everything, and it's really confusing! I tried to do a quiz, and it was giving me the answer and was telling me to give the question! Is it supposed to do that?
@WarriorGirl: Louise... I mean Hat Lady is 15.
The only downside is that it only lets you memorize/review a passage once a day and have it count as a successful attempt.
It really has a good system for typos, because it will allow you to type the key right next to the right key, and still get it right.

@TheTawKids: The app is pretty cool, as it comes with a lot of features. It's really helpful for review on the go, especially like in the car. I really like it because you don't need an internet connection, so you can use it anywhere you want. I have it on an iPod, but I can see that it would work better on a larger device...
@TheTawKids: The app is really nice to have. It's got neat stuff like flashcards and you can draw pictures to help you remember the passage (if that's something you enjoy doing :)). When you're done you have to click "sync with ScriptureTyper.com for it to show up on here that you reviewed/added verses.
@everybody: do those who have the scripture typer app find it helpful? right now i'm trying to decide whether i want to get it or not. If it is good, what device would it work best on?
@GermanCello: do you think that you could add the summer's verses as well? because i really need to review those 24 passages.
@Kelsey Wow, I never knew that.
Piano. She's an amazing pianist! :) She's actually playing piano right now. :) She's been taking lessons for, like, 10 years.
@Kelsey: what did your sister audition for?
@GermanCello: thanks for adding ephesians!
i auditioned for violin, and my sis auditioned for choir. @GermanCello: you didn't audition for cello, did you? :D
>_<
@GermanCello: I think I know! :) I didn't audition. If I hadn't qualified but one of my siblings had I might have. All I play is the piano, so I don't think they would choose me for the only pianist.
I don't know... Violin? :)
I auditioned for the orchestra (guess what instrument). :)
@theTawKids: I thought about auditioning, but decided against it. My sister auditioned, though. :)
Yeah, I auditioned for the choir. Did you audition for anything?
is anyone auditioning for the celebration ceremony orchestra or choir?
i think it's a great idea.
Yeah, though it might not be exactly right because we are supposed to be Juniors memorizing the Junior passages.
You mean like, memorizing Ephesians?
@TheTawKids I mean Ephesians by chapter, unless you object or unless you don't want Ephesians at all.
Thank you! My sister took it. I wanted to have the picture that I have on Quizlet but I couldn't figure out how to get a picture from ipad to ST :(.
@Anna: you have a pretty profile picture!
what do you mean by Ephesians? like verse by verse, or chunk by chunk?
Hey, thanks! I memorized them in order of card number, so I really do not do very well with connecting the one-verse passages to their references. I made a set with them, though probably no one else is a Junior and uses KJV.
Congratulations "GermanCello"!!!!! Has anyone else on here finished yet? I'm not done yet, but hope to be in a week.
No, but we're both from Oregon and are in the same hive group. (We meet during nationals.)
congrats, germancello! BTW, are you bethany's sister?
Congrats to GermanCello! I happen to know she's done all her verses too! :)
Good job everyone! I've only done like 400.
Yikes! Just saw the count down and ignored you appropriate warning and actually almost died of fright...:D Congrats, Kelsey! That's reaaaaally awesome - I'm about a hundred verses behind you...:(
Thanks you guys! :) I don't know them word perfect, just good enough for ScriptureTyper. :) And thanks for telling me about Quizlet. I'll try it out soon. :)

Congratulations!
Yeah, I just noticed that. Congratulations!
The reason why I asked about Kelsey's verses was because of her status. It says she finished. Party! Confetti! Celebration! Congrats, Kelsey! :)
Neat! I always memorize in the morning, because our afternoons tend to be busier.
By the way, I tried this memorization technique that I saw somewhere, where you memorize your verses in the evening, and it worked out a lot better for me than what I had done before!
I haven't finished all of mine yet. Have you?
I really recommend it. You can study without making an account, but it is free to have one. BTW, did you just finish all your verses?
A question for those of you who are on Quizlet: I've been planing to look and see what was on Quizlet, but do you have to have an account to do it, or can you do stuff without having one? And do you guys think it's really helpful for learning?
The count-down looks really cool, even though it's like, super scary!
Your count-down is less scary than my little sisters, though. She's always saying how many weeks are left. Yours makes it seem father off! :)
Exactly the same feeling I have! I only have band, church on Wednesday, church on Sunday, and church events like baby showers whenever.
@GermanCello: I'm really not that busy compared to everyone else. Before reading what everyone else has going on I thought I was busy, but now it doesn't seem like I'm busy at all! Our church meets on Sundays and Wednesday, but that's pretty much all I do outside of home.
I can see the countdown now! The Bible Bee is so soon!!!!! @TheTawKids: I'm usually on Scripture Typer around 7:00 AM and Quizlet in the afternoon. Oh, and on Friday nights I'm usually on both between 10:00 and 12:00 (at night). I'm pretty much never on either from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (since I'm homeschooled I don't have school hours, but I'm usually doing school at least during those times).
what time of day do you guys usually study for bible bee on Scripture Typer or Quizlet or Memverse or stuff like that?
@GermanCello: The countdown is super cool!
I have Government and Economics, Geometry, American Sign Language, Bible Study Fellowship, American History, Grammar, Japanese, Karate, Volleyball, Violin, Literature, AWANA, Biology and Chinese. Plus I'm studying for 3 CLEP tests.
It may be a problem with your browser. What browser do you use?
I went to Announcements but there was just a black box. How do I see the countdown?
Oh my! I seriously freaked out a little!
By the way I put the countdown in Anouncements. If you don't want to look, you don't have to (I took out the milliseconds on purpose).
I have boy scouts, AWANA, piano lessons, basketball lessons, tennis lessons, golf lessons, an online math course, and I'm going to start guitar lessons soon. :)
@GermanCello: a countdown sounds cool! i might freak out sooner or later, but i'm already freaking out now so i don't think it's gonna matter! :)
yea, i have a lot of stuff too. :( that makes me sad because now i wish did bible bee a couple years earlier, when i didn't have as much stuff as i do now. i really wish that i could make bible bee my priority, but with all my homework i usually end up doing bible bee studying at 10:00PM :(
Wow, you're busy! And I thought I was busy! I don't even have half as much to do as you! That's awesome that you're still willing to do bible bee!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I have swimming four days a week. >:(
@GermanCello: Yeah, I know. I have homeschool choir practice on Mondays, in the morning, and I have an online class for grammar and composition, and those are already to much for me. I would love if you do a countdown. I think it would inspire me to study harder! :)
Sorry, but I think I'd freak out! :)
I know! But hey, would putting a countdown until Nationals in the Anouncements make you guys nervous and on edge, or would it help you plan out your studying and such?
Same here! I have a lot of things unrelated to Bible Bee happening.
It is hard if you have things happening during your week that are unrelated to Bible Bee, like Homeschool Orchestra, because they take time away from studying. I feel sorry for all those kids that are private/public schooled and made it to nationals. That must be really hard!
Me neither, but we might as well know, right? :)
I'm not exactly sure what to study for Finals, though I don't think I'll get that far. :)
okay, thanks for clearing that up. I heard someone say that you did, but I actually haven't read the emails. :)

I think they said in the email that you won't get marked off for misspelled words.
No, you don't get eliminated for misspelling words. From what I understood if the judges are able to understand what the answer is, it counts.
Did you guys know that there's more than one way to spell Greek words? Mystery can either be spelled musterion or mysterion. In the final challenge round you can get eliminated for misspelling a word. What about words like that?
@Everett - I'm at about 450
@TheTawKids - thanks for the links! I'll check them out :D
@Kelsey: You mean you know them all decently? That's great! :)
Yeah, I looked a lot different when I was three. Not as chubby but still cute. :)
oh, by the way, she's not as chubby anymore. she's ten now. :)
thanks...i decided that a picture of my brother as my previous profile picture did not accurately portray me. :) My new profile picture is my sister and me over her 3rd birthday cake. She's so cute! I have the best sister in the world!
@TheTawKids: You have a cute profile pic. :)
@Everett: i'm really running behind, i haven't been spending as much time on it as i should have. :( i'm only around 200 verses
another link for the journeys of paul:http://www2.luthersem.edu/ckoester/Paul/Main.htm
This one has a "tour" that shows the places he went. it's not very detailed, though.
and here is a link for interactive maps of paul's journeys: http://www.apostlepaulthefilm.com/paul/journeys.htm
i found a pretty good link describing the journeys of paul: http://www.matthewmcgee.org/paultime.html
@Everett: I'm trying to get familiar with them all, and I'm almost done with that, but I have a long way to go with getting them perfect!
I'm doing something one of my bible bee friends recommended, but it's not a study book, it's more like a guide. It works really well. The lady who gave it to me said it was something from BSF, so if you do BSF you probably already know what it is.
How many verses has everyone memorized? I'm somewhere around 350-400.
Is anyone doing any studies or anything on Ephesians? Can y'all recommend something? I just feel weird being the only one recommending stuff... :)
i got one too...and i love it!!!! it's super great and one of those things that you can't find alot in regular stores nowadays. Plus, the price for that thing is like 50$+, so it's a great deal to get it free! :)
I got one. It says that it doesn't expire until December.
I think so. I think every Bee got one, but maybe it was just our Bee. You get a few certificates when you place but one should be a coupon sort of thing :).
Is that the certificate you get when you place at locals?
If y'all got the discount for the "To God all Praise and Glory be", I would encourage you to use it. I'm not sure when it expires (maybe it's all ready expired), but if you haven't lost it you may want to use it. It is currently my favorite CD (actually six CDs) :).
In mine it says rear guard, too.
I think it's a printing mistake. I saw it on BibleGateway and it said "thy reward" in KJV. In my version (NKJV) it's "rear guard".
Has anyone memorized Isaiah 58:6-8? At the end of verse 8 it says "And the glory of the Lord shall be your rereward." (KJV) Funny word, huh?
No problem! I want to help first-time go-ers as much as possible. :)
never mind, I just saw that you and anna are both in it so I assume that it's the right one. :) Thanks for asking me!
@WarriorGirl: thanks! um, about the class, it says not to ask to join because it is a private class. Is that your class? I just want to make sure before asking to join a random class. ;)
it's called "Private National Bible Bee Study"
@TheTawKids: Yeah, I'm glorylight on Quizlet. Good job on getting 61st! It's rather embarrassing, I got 95th.:) Would you care joining another class I made, for my friends and others who are going to Nationals for the first time? http://quizlet.com/class/757283/
@Everett: studying greek words had really helped me understand first john, so even if i don't remember them all on the test i'm still glad i studied them. :)
just curious...does anyone know ANYBODY that is a Junior going to Nationals from the state of Washington?
I'm not glorylight but I think I know who they are. Yes, I am biblebee-a. Oh, and I did see the message.
@Anna M: are you biblebee-a on quizlet? if you are, i left you a message earlier today on one of your sets. I don't know if you saw it yet, but it's pretty cool that we should bump into each other...um, again!
@Anna M.: Thanks! Good job yourself!
@WarriorGirl: Are you glorylight on quizlet? i'm ChiaMei (even though that's not my name) ;)
Congratulations on making it your first year! It's really hard to make it the first year because you don't know what's expected of you. I was very surprised that I made it since I was pretty far from it last year. I think I said about ten times ( no exaggeration) "I can 'to believe it!"
@WarriorGirl: Yea, this is my first year doing Bible Bee and i wasn't exactly prepared for locals..so i was kinda surprised to find out that i was 61st. And by the way, i'm not a guy as my profile picture suggests. Neither am i the girl in the background...in fact, i don't think i am in my own profile picture.
@ Everett: What do you mean? I think that the "Bible Bee-ers" probably put to much emphasis on that rather than other things, but it's fun and it helps to see how the passages connect. The test doesn't seem to have very many questions on it. Still, it's not about the contest so if it helps your walk with God, then it's worth it.
Question for everyone: Who thinks that studying Greek words is a little overrated?
Thanks so much for joining. I'm trying to get as most people as possible. :) Is this your first year going to Nationals?
It means that you have to wait until the people who are the administrators of the class have to let you in. I already did that. :)
@WarriorGirl: I noticed that you made a class on quizlet...so i joined but it said i needed to be accepted by the admin. what does that mean?
Does anybody else use KJV on here?
@TheTawKids: Get a bunch of studies on Ephesians. I shared some links earlier back on this chat wall, to give an idea what to get. Hope they help. :)
Oh, and you just read all the wall posts on here. :) We have already put a lot of tips on here. This is my first year at nationals (second at locals) so my tips may not be all helpful for the test.
Here's the link to a (easy) practice test that I wrote: http://quizlet.com/27579603/bible-bee-practice-test-for-ephesians-revised-multiple-choice-flash-cards/
I read at least one chapter from Ephesians a day, so that I'm familiar with it. Here's the link to a bunch of study tips: http://quizlet.com/13281942/bible-bee-hints-tips-things-to-remember-for-next-year-flash-cards/
hi...i'm new here, if you haven't noticed. :)
do you guys have any tips for studying for the written test? i started studying kinda late and haven't exactly started studying Ephesians yet. Any suggestions?
By the way, BibleMinded is a really great app for memorizing, memverse.com is wonderful, and, of course, scripturetyper.com is fine, too.
Hi, everyone! I've been memorizing on an iPad, so I haven't looked at any discussion, silly me! BBLover, You can join! I can put the primary verses on for you, too.
I always use a watch :) It's the only electronic device that you can bring in. Just make sure that it doesn't beep at all.
I don't know, you'll have to ask GermanCello.:)
I never thought about wearing a watch! I have one that is digital and has seconds but I usually don't wear it. Let me guess by the picture... did GermanCello create this group? And can I join, even though I'm a Primary who made it, not a Junior?
Anna: Yes I am. Usually you want to be sure that it is wrong, but on the Bible Bee test...anything can happen. :) Also, eliminating wrong answers increases the probability of getting the question right.
@Anna: I know, I'm so glad I joined. :)
@Everett: Are you saying that we should look at our four choices and rule out any that we know (or think) are wrong? @Everyone: Quizlet is great! I have already learned so much by writing tests even though I have only been on there a couple of days.
@Joe: It's just a certain process of thinking. There are lots of resources out there like brain games on the internet, mind benders books, math, or anything that you can think of. :D As far as test taking goes, if you're good at logical reasoning, then the test shouldn't be very hard. I don't know of any particular resources for test taking, but you can create your own system. For me personally, the key to test taking is process of elimination. It helps a lot.
@Everett - What resources are there out there that teach test-taking skills/logic? That sounds like it would be helpful... :)
Yeah, a watch has been really helpful for me before. :)
If you have a wristwatch (preferably digital with seconds), wear it. It is so helpful to know how much time you have left. Someone in my family calculated that you can spend 18 seconds on each question and finish on time. I'm not sure if I would have made it to nationals without my watch.
@Kelsey: I've never experienced those type of questions before. :) But it is obviously no accident that the memory passages are cross-references. You should probably spend just a minimal amount of time on that. :D
Another tip is to really know how to take a test. If you have experienced the test before, you will know that many times, a lot of what you didn't study is on there. I highly recommend learning how to take a test and to study logical reasoning, as those two are very important. Also, making a paraphrase or reading a paraphrase of Ephesians is helpful. :)
Great! You can also join classes and access stuff that other people can't. This is one I created : http://quizlet.com/class/707626/
I just signed up on Quizlet right before I read this. Here's one of the tests I created: http://quizlet.com/27499929/greek-in-ephesians-and-1-john-flash-cards/
I still haven't finished it (and probably never will).
Just so you can see how it works. :)
@Kelsey - Quizlet is pretty much a free resource for anyone to study anything. There is a really big community of Bible Bee-ers there who make study sets for stuff like Greek words, cross references, and questions. If you join, you can make your own sets. Here is a link to a set that I've made: http://quizlet.com/24545666/1-john-greek-words-bible-bee-2013-flash-cards/
@Kelsey: I've never seen that on the test, and hopefully it won't be (I haven't studied that!). My sister's been in it a few years (and won in 2011 :D ) and she's never mentioned those questions.
@WarriorGirl: I'll definitely consider that...It sounds pretty cool, especially for the practice tests.
PS: I might not be on this forum much more...I find it's taking away from my study time... :D Still, it's been fun chatting with you all, and hope to see you at Nationals!
What is Quizlet? Everyone keeps talking about it. Also, is it helpful to match up every memory verse to which ever chapter it cross-references to, and to memorize that? Is that sort of stuff on the test?
It's a very helpful resource. :)
@Joe - Yes! People make some very useful (and not very useful) sets. And when you sign up you can make your own sets, which I have found is very helpful for remembering things. You can join classes, (there are a ton of Bible Bee classes on there), because some of the better study materials are visible to only certain classes. There are some really good practice tests on there, and fun games, that are extremely for Greek words and the such. You should definitely join! *end advertisement ;D
@Anna - I know, right? KJV says "brutish" where NASB says "stupid." That would have cracked me up, too! :)
@WarriorGirl - Should I be on it? :)
Someone put some memorization tips on Quizlet (some of these apply more to locals than nationals): http://quizlet.com/13281942/bible-bee-hints-tips-things-to-remember-for-next-year-flash-cards/
Bible hub has a lot of great commentaries as well as other study tools: http://biblehub.com/commentaries/ephesians/1-1.htm
My Daddy just told me that Proverbs 30:1-4 is funnier in other versions, so y'all probably didn't know what I was talking about. I use the ESV, so it is a lot different. I just read two of the other versions and I think I would have laughed while I was memorizing it, too.
So pretty much there's good stuff anywhere. My mom and I just went to a Christian bookstore, took all the studies for Ephesians there were, looked through them, and decided on a couple. If you're buying you just have to be careful to get the right thing so it won't be a waste of money. Hope this helps :)
http://www.mardel.com/shepherds-notes-ephesians.aspx
And you can go to a Christian bookstore and find some really good studies:
http://www.mardel.com/nt-wright-for-everyone-ephesians.aspx
There's also some very good ones you can buy: http://www.amazon.com/Message-Ephesians-Bible-Speaks-Today/dp/0877842876/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1380671327&sr=8-2&keywords=john+stott+ephesians
You can pretty much find commentaries anywhere online for free, like this one that I use:http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/asbury-bible-commentary/Ephesians
@WarriorGirl and Joe: Thanks! Where do you find these commentaries? Just online? I've heard other people say things about commentaries too.
@Joe - Are you on Quizlet?
Definitely. And also another thing I think everyone is forgetting is to polish up our knowledge on 1 John. :)
@Kelsey - WarriorGirl is definitely right, the commentaries are very helpful. Also, since the test is primarily on Ephesians, we should know Ephesians REALLY well so that when the test mentions something in it, we can instantly recall it. Also, it's good to know the context of our verses (e.g. 2 Kings 5:13-14 - the servants were talking to Naman, even though it does not say in the passage.) Those questions can be tricky if not studied. Try to learn as many greek words as possible, and memorize as quickly as you can so that you can review at the end.
Happy studying!
@Kelsey - I would suggest finding commentaries and studies on Ephesians. And not just one or two, but a lot. Because the test is really the stumbling block. The year that I went, I got an almost perfect oral score but my test score was terrible; so it's the test you really have to prepare for the most. Hope that helps. :)
So, those of you who've been to nationals before, do you have any memory or study tips? Do you have review tips?
@Anna M - Yup. Sometimes it feels like my brain can't hold another verse, and then it does! I don't understand how the brain works and why we never run out of memory space.
@Kesley. Yes, I have memorized it. I like to say the "I am weary" part when I'm feeling like I can't memorize another verse :D. I'm sure you all know the feeling.
@Kelsey - I know, I always want to laugh every time I see it! :D I've made it to Nationals twice before in 2011 and 2012, although I went only in 2011.
@Kelsey - you're right - Proverbs 30:1-4 does have some abnormal names...:D I made it to nationals once, last year.
Have any of you guys been to nationals before? I barely missed nationals last year, but my sister made it so I did it with her. @WarriorGirl - When I memorized Proverbs 30:1-4, I was giggling so much! My family and I think it's so funny!
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean! I have reviewed them only once since the end of summer... :)
About 285, but I'm a bit rusty on the local verses...
@Joe - A lot! I would say more than 250 verses so far. How about you?
@Kelsey - Yeah, I've memorized it. Pretty interesting verse, isn't it?
How many verses has everyone memorized so far?
have you memorized Proverbs 30:1-4?
hmm... someone likes cellos. :)
Are these all the verses?
