Thy Word have i hid in mine heart that i might not sin against Thee. This verse and all the verses in this chapter did really help me to overcome temptation. Such a wonderful chapter. This should be a must in our memory bank.
Looks like there's hope for me then. I'm a baby at 63! How AWESOME is God's Word 😄
(Adriana, I went to school in Grahamstown)
Hi Judy, I am 70 and am also trying Ps 119. I have never posted anything on the group before. am Afrikaans speaking but also love the NKJV. I find memorizing with music very helpful.
hello i would like to ask if u can join gods univese
Hello Judy, welcome to the group! You will find that this page has not been very active. But I am so glad to see you working to memorize the Word at 76!
I am looking for a current group memorizing Ps 119. I am just starting and in looking for help I found Scripture Typer so am very excited but struggling. I will soon be 76 so that may be part of the issue as I could memorize well when I was young. I am using NKJV and am telling others about Scripture Typer.
Can you please join my group national bible bee 2018. It is very very active.
Hi, I just joined!!!! I am very active and I memorized all of psalm 119 !!!!

Finally up with the party.....Thanks for the competitors especially mom2five. We had great time memorizing together in many number of groups. Now it's time for cementing. Hope it will catch up from 6 months to a year most probably.
URGENT!! I seriously have to WARN YOU!! The KJV BIBLE has been CHANGED! (Look up the #MandelaEffect) The Lords Prayer in the KJV is not correct anymore in the KJV (how we remember "tresspasses" changed to "debts" and "those who tresspass against us" changed to "our debtors" and "ON earth" in Mt6,10 changed to "IN earth" - look it up!!!) and John8:32 has changed, as well as Isaiah11,6 changed from "Lion and Lamb will live together" to "Wolve(s) and lamb will live together"
Check out the Mandela-Effect-Wiki for more Information! http://mandela-effect-wiki.tk
See here the page concerning changes in Bible-Translations: http://mandela-effect.bplaced.net/doku.php?id=changes_in_bible-translations_overview
PS: i'm not joking, i'm totally serious!
PPS: even wikipedia censors this topic... (see discussion on startpage in the wiki)
@Leah: I'm not sure why it would do that. If you sometimes use the Scripture Typer app, you may need to make sure that you have synced it with scripturetyper.com.
For every group that I am a member of, my verse count is wrong. Yet, it seems that other people's verse counts are correct, because some members are getting credit for every possible verse they can memorize in the group.
Specifically:
The Romans Project
It says 34 verses current, it should be 122
Memorize the Mount
It says 7 verses current, it should be 50
Isaiah: Eight Chapters
It says 12 verses current, it should be 58
Psalm 119 Word Lovers
It says 0 verses current, it should be 12
Jesus Project
It says 4 verses current, it should be 14
Psalm 51: Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God
It says 0 verses current, it should be 2
As silly as it may be, I use my ranking in groups and my overall ranking as a motivator. So this is de-motivating! And it make me wonder if my overall ranking is accurate as well.
Is this something that Scripture Typer can fix?
Uhhh.... guys, did you know that you don't have to add the psalm in each translation? Because if you click on the button for the psalm, no matter what translation it says, there will be a place for you to choose what translation you would like to memorize it in. Just so you don't have to go to any more trouble, adding KJV and NKJV.
I have succeeded in getting all the verses on the app, but it will be a long time before I really have them memorized. This psalm really speaks to me. The author is like many of us. When in trouble he went to God for help and he found more than help.
I edited the verses and condensed them in sets of 8 verses that correspond to the alphabetic sections shown in the Bible itself.
I have it roughed out on an initial mastery run, far ahead of schedule! Now to cement it into long term memory!
I think my personal goal will be to finish this Psalm by my birthday - April 09th, that's one 'section' (one Hebrew letter portion) per week or so (for the ones I have remaining. I think that's realistically doable for me at the rate I can typically memorize with a song.
I've learned my first verses in KJV with this music, it does the whole psalm if anyone else could benefit: http://www.shepardmusic.com/ps119cd.php
So, I have 40 verses so far - does anyone want to sent an end date goal with me for finishing this Psalm? :) I think it would help if I had a buddy to work with and pray for as well as an end date.
Hi Smile4Me! If you go on the memory groups page, there is a map down at the bottom and you can zoom in/out to find a group in your area. I took a quick look and didn't see any in Wyoming - but what's to stop you from forming one yourself?! It's encouraging to memorize with a group of other people who love the Word as much as you do, isn't it? (I noticed you're working on the book of Proverbs too - wow, there's a lot of them to keep straight! Keep up the good work!
Hey, everyone! Do any of you know of a group in Wyoming that I could join or that could be formed?
Thanks! I'll do that! My existing memory work is KJV and I'd like to keep going with it since the language has more odd memory hooks to grab onto for me since it's a different cadence than modern speech :). I have been tempted to do their versions when I find full books in music in NIV for example, but I have a lot of loose ends to tie up and a big to do list before worrying about that :).
HigherGroundMom, You can do KJV. (That's what version I am currently typing Psalm 119.) Just click on add any of the versions and then you can manually change it to KJV. I've done that w/other groups I am members of.) You can also set a preferred version somewhere on Scripture Typer. I either memorize KJV or NKJV. I'm trying to switch over to NKJV, but in the past I've already memorized certain passages in KJV so I will keep reviewing those passages in that version.
Hope this helps!
Rachel
I know around 25% of Psalm 119, and I'd love to finish it some day! Could we add a KJV collection? You ladies insire me with your memory work! MIW - I have often wanted to learn all the Psalms, but I think I only know 8 or so :).
Maiden-in-Waiting, keep up the great memory work! I too would love to memorize the whole NT. I'll be 47 soon, and I know that to accomplish that goal, I will be an old lady :) Even if I never accomplish it, I know that I will know much more of God's Word than I do now. I really do enjoy ST, and I know what you mean about sharing memory goals w/others. It's great to have friends who will hold you accountable, but like you I don't want to be boasting about my accomplishments. I haven't told others that I would like to memorize the NT, partly b/c I fear I'll not memorize it or that I'll be bragging. How true what you say that we wear the king's cloak of humility. P.S. I love hats, and the one in the picture is one of my favorites.
Wow, that's wonderful, mom2five! Those books are some of my goals too... My great aspiration is to memorize the enitre New Testament; but I have to beware starting too much at once, or I feel swamped and don't do any of it :) I have already memorized Ps. 1 - 16, but haven't reviewed them for a while (that was before I started ST) Oh, and I did secure Colossians and 1 John in the past, but it's time to wipe the rust off of them. It's such a blessing to have a a whole "community" of friends who know and love the Scripture in the same way! I often feel hesitent to talk about my memory goals or "sticky places" since I'm nearly always met with the response "Wow, that's so amazing! You must have a really great memory. I can't memorize like that!" ...and then I have the tricky job of encouraging them to memorize, while not seeming to boast about myself! *smile and sigh* May we always wear the King's cloak of humility and His garment of praise! P.S. I love your hat!
Maiden-in-waiting, I also love this chapter and was excited to find this group. I originally memorized Psalm 119 in 1989 (KJV), but of course, I need to review it. It was one of the most challenging portions of Scripture I have memorized. I had memorized James back in 1980, and have since rememorized it as part of the James group.
I joined Scripture typer in January, and have really enjoyed it. In addition, to James, I've also typed Colossians (which I memorized last year & am now reviewing) and 1 Thessalonians (which I memorized the beginning of this year). Currently, I'm working on the Sermon on the Mount and 1 , 2 , & 3rd John, plus some other small passages. I also plan to relearn Philippians this year and we'll see what else.
It's encouraging to see others memorizing Scripture, too! I regret that I didn't keep up with Scripture memorization over the years
Ah, Psalm 119!
I love this chapter - often when I read it, I find myself reading it back to the Father as a prayer; of yearning, of neediness, of love.
Thanks for creating this group! I had the grand ambition some time ago of memorizing the whole book of Psalms... but I think I'll start with just the longest chapter, and finish James, and Hebrews and Matthew first :D
Not sure when I'll get started on it, but great job to the rest of you! Faithfulness to His Word is a sweet incense to the Faithful One.
Thank you! I have started working on the first set, verses 1-4.
Hi Leah, I will go ahead and do a few sets of verses for you to get started with. I'll add more a little at a time, when I come to review. If you're taking it slow, you should have plenty to go on. Welcome to the group, and God bless!
Would you consider adding NIV 1984 version? I would like to memorize this psalm, but I would probably do it much more slowly than you are.
