I just noticed that Nahum chapter 1 has verse 3 listed twice: chapter 1:2-3 and chapter 1:3-4
URGENT!! I seriously have to WARN YOU!! The KJV BIBLE has been CHANGED! (Look up the #MandelaEffect) The Lords Prayer in the KJV is not correct anymore in the KJV (how we remember "tresspasses" changed to "debts" and "those who tresspass against us" changed to "our debtors" and "ON earth" in Mt6,10 changed to "IN earth" - look it up!!!) and John8:32 has changed, as well as Isaiah11,6 changed from "Lion and Lamb will live together" to "Wolve(s) and lamb will live together"
Check out the Mandela-Effect-Wiki for more Information! http://mandela-effect-wiki.tk

PS: i'm not joking, i'm totally serious!
PPS: even wikipedia censors this topic... (see discussion on startpage in the wiki)
I think one of the things I am looking forward to most about this trip is getting to spend time with friends and meet new ones! I can't wait to meet some of you. :)
I don't think this will help anyone now, but for future study, there is a free downloadable program called E-Sword, that you can then download other resources to, many of which are free. I just found that they have the Greek Septuagint with Strong's numbers. This would have been helpful for finding Greek words that correspond with the Hebrew.
Thank you so much! I really needed this cause I'm super nervous. :)
Thank you, Boots-n-Lace! Keep pressing on, and I look forward to meeting you at Nationals!!!
Thank you for the reminder, Boots-n-Lace!
Hey Everyone,
Its less than one week until we are all in Florida. Stand strong, work hard, and give the glory to God. Nothing else matters about the contest, if we have given the glory to God.
As in, thirty minutes before the Quizlet meeting or an hour?
When, where and I'll try to be there. :)
Hey let's have a ST meeting at Nationals!! We have Memverse and Quizlet meetings, so why not a Scripture Typer meeting??:)
That's a good idea (though I suppose mine is rather obvious :))!
Hey everyone, my mom gave me a good idea. Some of us don't use our names on ST, so when we get to Nationals, it might be a good idea if we put our ST name on our nametag or something so we can meet each other. :)
Anna and Light4theLord, I haven't done any oral rounds, but it is true that saying your verses out loud is more important than ST, though I understand some people may use ST to learn their verses.
@Light4theLord: I definitely agree! Last year I didn't do much more than ST, and I didn't do very good in orals.
This is a random fact/tip: Make sure you can not only type your verses, but also be able to say your verses. It doesn't really help if you can only type them. Just a friendly reminder!
Hi do you guys want to do a pool meeting I heard there was one for quizzelt already
biblestudytools.com is something that I use a lot. Actually, Quizlet has a lot of good sets - Everett C. and MemVerseFanatic (Zach) both have some really good ones.
Thanks Kelsey! There is a program I have been using besides Blue Letter Bible. It is a free program you can download from the internet. It is called E-Sword. You can download various versions, dictionaries, and commentaries to it for free. Everything that is not Public domain, however, you have to pay for. But, there are still some useful things there.
My family has the Logos program which is nice for looking up Hebrew words, and searching for cross-references. It also has commentaries on what you're reading and compares translations. (but Logos isn't free, sadly.)
I would totally recomend the scripture typer app.
Anyone else have any study tips for Nahum or learning verses?
I really like Blue Letter Bible, too! :)
If any of you are looking for more Bible study resources, Blue letter Bible is a good (timesaving) resource. It has Bible Dictionaries, search engines for looking up Hebrew and Greek words, and cross-reference tools. www.blueletterbible.org
If the verses are in your uncategorized list, yes. Below your verses on that list should be a bunch of small type. One should say verse reference test.
Can you do a reference test on verses not in a collection?
@Kelsey, if you go to your "My Verses" page and click on a collection, at the top of the collection with the add verses button, there is one that says verse reference test.
@Boots-n-lace: Really? I did not know that. I'll have to try that sometime.
Also, when you have all of your passages memorized here on Scripture Typer, they have a function that tests you on your references. They will display the verse passage and you have to type in the reference.
I also made a graph sheet with all the verse references listed down one side. Then, when I say a verse to someone, I have them (or me) write in the little boxes next to that passage, a "P" if I said it word perfect, or a "R" if I didn't. Then, when I go to review to myself, I pick all the passages in the most recent column with "R"s first, so that way I am focusing on the passages I have the most trouble with.
What really helps me learn which reference belongs to which verse is to create flashcard sheets with a list of verse references down one side and the first four words of the passage, who is speaking to who (if applicable), and a basic summary of the passage on the other side. This really helped me last year. I haven't been doing quite so well with it this year yet, but I'm still creating the sheets and learning the verses.
I really like to pace while I say memorize. Though oddly, I think it helps me to focus better :). If I'm pacing, my mind doesn't wander as much.
@Boots-n-Lace - I'm quite the opposite. :P I cannot memorize unless I am fully concentrated on my verses. I agree with Kelsey; figure out what kind of learner you are and learn that way.
I have to say my verses out loud, too.
Depending on what I am doing I am an auditory, visual, or action learner. For memorizing verses, I have to repeat it out loud to myself, so I am somewhat an auditory learner because I have to learn verses by speaking if I am going to say them to others. I have also found that, unless I am really focused on my verses, I have to be in some sort of perpetual motion. I'll crochet, pace, work on dinner, just do something to keep my brain from being focused on just one thing. So Emma, I don't think what you do is weird, since I do about the same thing.
I heard that walking around was a a good idea, so I tried it and liked it. I also like soccer and so now I have found what really helps is walking around my room playing around with my soccer ball... :P Sounds weird, but works for me!
@Boots-n-lace: Good idea! :) My tip (for memorizing) is to learn what type of learner you are. Do you learn by seeing, hearing, or action? Once you have figured that out, it's much easier to memorize. I learn by hearing, so what I do is record myself doing my verses and then listen to those recordings. I also say my verses out loud with other people so I can hear myself say the verse, and if I mess up, I can hear the person tell me the verse correctly. (My brother learns by action, so he paces while he does his verses.)
How are you all going about your studying? What are you doing to study? Maybe we can all give one study tip to help each other.
Congrats.Its my first year also.
I made it. This is my first year and I am a senior.
Did you make it?If so what age grouping are you in?
Hi all,are any of you primary,I'm one and I made it
Those are all great insights. Nahum and Jonah are bookends in so many ways. We see in Jonah that God gives mercy, but Nahum shows us that God also does judge. He only gives mercy to those who repent.
I really how the complete sovereignty of God is clearly displayed in Nahum. He says what will happen with certainty, His character does not change, and His judgement is inevitable. My favorite verses from Nahum are 1:9, 12. Verse 9 shows God's omniscience and tells us that our plans are nothing compared to His (Proverbs 19:21). I really like verse 12 because it reminds me that although certain situations may seem impossible, and though it may seem that the world is against us, God has the ability to destroy His (and our) enemies ( 2 Thessalonians 2:8)
Anyone else got any things of note from Nahum?
@Everett: Thanks! We were very surprised! @Boot-n-Lace: I think that it's interesting that Nahum means comfort, and that his message was supposed to comfort Judah.
@Kelsey: That is absolutely correct. It is also interesting to see that God is giving consolation to Judah. So while we want to take warning not to provoke God's wrath, we also can receive consolation from the book of Nahum, that God will bring justice to those who work against Him.
@Boots-n-Lace: Thanks! :) I've learned that God may be slow to anger, but that doesn't mean that we're not punished when we do wrong.
Congratulations to Anna's family for getting 5 qualifiers!!
Congratulations to all who qualified for Nationals! What is something someone has already learned from studying Nahum?
Congratulations, everyone!
