lol nvm I just did it anyways😁👍
hmmm well, are you currently memorizing it? Because if so you can add it yourself. But if you really want me to add it I will. 😊😉👍Pls respond.
hi, JJ, could you add the book of James to the collection please? you don’t have to I was just wondering 🤗
🎊Happy 4th of July!🎉🎇🎉🎇🎉🎇 I could not send this greeting if it had not been for the sacrifice of brave men who literally stood up to evil to obtain the freedom we now enjoy in this country. Their faithfulness is a reminder of how hard it was for the United States of America to come into being. Here is the story. https://youtu.be/YaxGNQE5ZLA?si=IP8Of2BRQUaKZvRT
like my family without me lol.
nope, they are still kids. my oldest is going into 7th grade next year.
Hey JJ, yes I have 4 kids.
Larissa, do you have any kids? jw
lol Welcome, Bible Learner!
Happy Sabbath! To anyone who is SDA on here! No personal barbed comments! Just saying Happy Sabbath no barbed comment who believe what I do!
Addison, go into this group’s verses to memorize page, click on verses that prove SDAs are false and click on The State of the Dead.
hmmm yes that is partly true
But I know there have been many stories of people who have had near death experiences and went to heaven right away 🤷♀️
I’d say that’s not true because that’s what I believe but I don’t have any scripture to back me up so I’ll probably do some research later
Or some believe that God takes back the breath that made you and its breath plus body equals soul.
We could talk about the state of the dead. SDAs believe that when you die, you fall asleep and stay in your body until Christ comes and wakes you up.
so what shall we talk about now?
I understand what you mean
No, I agree with you Berean.
but the act of doing it when you believe it to be wrong is wrong. but pig and alligator and octopus and things they weren’t supposed to eat aren’t bad
Yes, but there are no foods that are wrong to eat.
eating the food itself isn’t wrong, but eating it and thinking/knowing it’s a sin is wrong
if you believe it’s a sin and someone who doesn’t believe it is for instance, and they tell you it’s alright, and you eat it while thinking it is, that’s a sort of sin I think
Btw, it can be wrong to eat some foods
See, I said I’d check the descriptions! 😁
The description is a good move though. I don’t see what could offend anyone opposing your view in there necessarily.
I’m not going to say just now whether I think SDA’s are wrong or not. But I, along with a lot of others as I see in the messages, would like the name to be changed. Going around and saying their beliefs are wrong isn’t going to encourage them to listen and possibly come to see it your way, but rather the reverse.
When the Holy Spirit indwells us, he helps us not want to sin and not sin anymore. We become more and more like Jesus everyday. We will never succeed in this lifetime, we will still always sin in this life.
Before I go on, I just want to underscore that Jesus and the gospel is the most important thing here. The gospel is this: Jesus, the only son of God, came down to earth as a baby, he lived a perfect life that WE CANNOT live. He was crucified for our sins just like the spotless lambs of the Old Testament. Except that this time the sacrifice is once for all time and all sins. Our sins under Jesus are utterly cancelled. He was raised to life again and was seen alive by more than 500 people. The he went back to heaven where he sits in the Most Holy Place. When we believe that Jesus came to die for our sins and accept that he sacrificed himself for us, we are hidden in Christ. When God the Father looks at us, he sees Jesus. Not part way, all the way. So in a sense it doesn’t matter what we do any more, we are hidden in Christ. Does that mean we should sin all the more so that grace abounds? No way! the Holy Spirit seals us and lives in us. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, self-control, etc and against such things there is no law.
I agree with Addison, she (and I) will not be worse christians by eating unclean foods or going to church on Sunday. As far as once saved always saved goes, I just talked about that. Scroll down to see the verses I listed.
Addison he was talking about gentiles
Check out these verses as well. “One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.” Romans 14:2-4
Also this verse, “For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)” Mark 7:19
as far as unclean meats go, check out this passage of scripture, “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:1-5
This verse is talking about the second return of Jesus. We believe that our souls are separate from the body and that we will be in heaven as our souls until Jesus returns. at that point, we will come back with Jesus and be reunited with our glorified bodies.
Hi Emma, welcome back. So about 1 Thessalonians 4. read a little earlier in that chapter specifically verse 14. It says, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
it's great to see some deep theological convos on this group
I’m not gonna go to hell or not be a Christian if I eat pork or go to church on Sunday
And about the Sabbath, we should be keeping every day holy, not getting caught up in days of the week.
Emma, there is no such thing as clean or unclean animals anymore. In Acts 10:9-15, it talks about how Peter had a vision of unclean animals and God told him to kill them and eat them. Peter told him no and that he had never eaten anything common or unclean. And God told him not to call common what he has made clean.
and tell me where in the Bible it says once saved always saved
another where in the Bible does it say the sabbath changed, tell me. and where in the Bible does it say the dead go to straight to heaven when they die? tell me .
the Bible also says for dust we are and to dust we return, that’s when we die! and another reason we can’t eat unclean meat is in levitacis ,god was not just being mean and saying you can’t eat this because I don’t want you to eat good meat it’s for our safety and protection, pigs are disgusting animals! they wallow in mud and eat garbage! is that rlly what you want to eat? thay also Cary a number of diseases that can make people sick,God strictly forbade any eating of what’s listed in Leviticus 11 read the whole chapter!
okay you believ you go to heaven as soon as you die ?right? well 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18-19
welll I guess I am back once and I guess whatever I will do my best to prove!
Notice the tense of this: we HAVE eternal life. Right now! Not when we die, not when Jesus comes back, now. When we believe in him and trust him for our salvation we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and have eternal life from that point on. What an extremely blessed hope we have!
“I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13
Here Jesus says that we cannot be taken from him. We are in his hand and God the Fathers hand!
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” John 10:27-29
It is God’s will that Jesus shouldn’t lose any of us once we come to him. Does Jesus do God’s will? Yes!!
“And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.” John 6:39
Notice here Jesus claims that those who believe will never be condemned for their sins! What mercy!
““I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.” John 5:24
Thank you Addison for sharing more about what you meant. I can understand what you are talking about because I used to believe the same way. However, these verses were brought to my attention and I’ve had to change my mind.
Revelation 3:5-6 says, “‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were that either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Once saved always saved means that once you are saved, you can never be lost again. So you can sin all you want and because you’re saved, you can still get into heaven. That’s what the scripture means when it says you’re lukewarm. You can claim you’re a Christian and that you’re saved, but you don’t truly know God and have a relationship with Him. You can’t live for the world and for God at the same time. There have also been many Christians who were saved, but didn’t stay saved because they backslid and started living for the world instead, including King Solomon. It is definitely possible to be saved and be lost again.
Hi Addison, welcome. Do you have any scripture references to back up what you are claiming about once saved always saved? Thanks!
I apologize for any typos 😅
It doesn’t mean sin and turn back to God, it means sin and you’re still saved I even if you don’t repent.
I was reading some of the chat and there was a conversation about once saved always saved. I don’t think y’all understand what that means.Once saved always saved means that once you’re saved, you’ll always be saved no matter what you do. Once saved always saved is not true! We don’t live in a perfect world, and we will sin, but we still need to repent and turn back to God. Once saved always saved is a lie from the devil that we can sin and do whatever we want and still get into heaven. I just wanted to make that clear😊
KL, I'm not trying to offend anyone but even if I do it doesn't mean I should stop telling the truth.
JJ, I really think you should change the name of your group. I'm not going to try to convince you whether we are right or wrong. I know what I believe, and that's up to you to decide. If you think SDA is not the Right religion that's what you want to believe. I'm just going to say that calling it "SDAs are Wrong" isn't getting the message across. This isn't teaching or challenging a belief system. It's bullying a people group. If there was something wrong with the Catholic belief system I wouldn't go outright and say "Catholics are wrong " because that's attacking a person, not a religion. The belief is wrong, not the people so "Catholic religion is a false religion" (No offense, this is an example.) It's the same with other religions. Just say "_______ is not the true faith" It's the belief that is wrong, not the people. So if you believe that the SDA faith is wrong, at least just say that. I believe it is right, but I can't change your beliefs.
Paul and the early Christians did not keep the Sabbath. Maybe you are referring to Paul’s habit of visiting the synagogues in Sabbath (that’s not actually keeping the Sabbath) for the purpose of speaking to the Jews. He at first was a minister to the Jews until they utterly rejected him, then he stopped visiting the synagogues. You see in Acts 15 the Jerusalem Counc where Peter and Paul were talking about what rules the new Christian’s should follow. They decided, ““You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell.”” Acts of the Apostles 15:29
I don’t think Paul is saying that in Colossians. He specifically says, “…for NOT celebrating…Sabbaths”. Paul talks about the different covenants in Galatians. I’d take a look at that book if I were you.
