Select Verse Collections to memorize with this Group.
Sorry if I messed up anyone's verse count. I accidently eliminated
2 Peter 2: 17 & 18 from the Collection list when I meant to stop reviewing them myself. But I put them back in and they may show up now as unmastered on your list! Sorry!
The "T" Letters Group is up and open if anyone is ready to work on them also. All are welcome but no pressure to do so.
hello everyone I am inviting everyone in this group who is active to my group I just made named Active members ONLY. I am hoping to make a very active group. I am a very active person and I go on multiple times a day. I wan to have this active group to be able to share stuff and get answers quickly and that when questions are asked they get answered too. we can memorize together in a healthy environment of people from all around the globe!! I would gladly promote anyone who has verses to add or just them for you if you tell me which ones. thankyou for your consideration for joining my group!! may the Lord bless you all!!
Thank you Charlotte-- so glad to join!
Great ... WELCOME, Kristin, may this Group of scriptures be a blessing to you and your family. Yes, Loved by Jesus, I saw from one of your Group's message wall posts that you were 12 and it's been an encouragement to me to see so many young people memorizing the Word!! Hopefully, it won't be a "put off" if I tell you that not only am I old enough to be your Mom but am old enough to be your Mom's Mom!! And that's one reason I push myself to memorize as much as I can WHILE I STILL CAN! The Lord has graciously given me a good mind and I started memorizing Scripture as a young girl in my church's girls' mission organization. As a young adult I used pencil and paper to write out Scripture that I had learned and a tape recorder to quote it into and play it back to check for accuracy. I am so appreciative of how well ST is set up and what a blessing it is!! You can tell I am not very tech savvy and so appreciate any help in how best to use it!
That's OK, we all have different schedules, responsibilities, & goals. It's not a race (except sometimes against TIME) and it's not a competition (except against myself when I want to do my best but let other things get in the way!) The points and rankings are nice incentives to keep us motivated BUT not the reason we joined ST or memorize the Word!!
I did just review my Woman at the Well verses this past Mon & I will look at your passages tomorrow & be glad to share comments. One exciting thing I ment to tell you was, after I had checked out your Group earilier in the week, I was really impressed with your heart for witnessing to and caring for the outcast that I googled Mission Outcast Ministries (& there are several ministries with similar goals and name) and there was your group: Mission Outcast - ScriptureTyper! I knew ST could be found by googling but was really surprised to find a group on ST would!
It took the major portion of last year to work thru The WORD and His words in the Book of John which concentrates on the major teachings of Jesus rather than memorizing every verse, altho we did learn all of Chapts 14-17 &19,20. It was Easter Sunday 2016 when I memorized the Resurrection Story of Jo 20 and I reviewed the Crucifixion & Resurrection chapters this Easter season. The Gospel of John naturally led to the letters of 1,2,3 John, then Jude which follows, then James, Jude's brother. It was this Spring before I finished James.
Ok, thanks for the info about the "review combined"! I didn't know about that option but that makes sense why most people impute their Group's Collections in just single verses. The way I have organized my Collections with smaller chunks combined together into larger chunks and the the whole may not allow you yo do that. Once I am proficient enough in a larger grouped section, I usually find it harder to do the indiv. verses and "reset" them on the my Review page to unmastered and just review the groups sections which I like to read outloud to myself first and then practice typing thru once while saying it back to myself.
What you do, Loved by Jesus, sounds like a good way and works for you! Hopefully my imputed grouped verses won't mess you up. Does your option say "review combined"? I had tried a "review all verses" option once awhile ago but it just brought up each indiv verse blank in sequence one after another. That was why I started imputing grouped sections. The only difference in our ways is that you learn all individual verses first then review grouped. I learn in sequence also but review a smaller grouping as soon as I am comfortable with them as I progress in sequence with the following indiv verses that are related until I can also review them in a sm group. However we do it repetition is the key!! In this Group, I have mastered 1 Peter1:1-25 and am about midway thru 1 Pet 2 and at same time have done Philemon. I am also working through a monthly review of major portions of John, plus 1,2,3 John, Jude & James. I started on ST in fall 2015 and learned Ps 34 & Isa 40 then the Christmas Story from Luke & verses from "The Messiah". As you can see, I don't type very fast and am in awe of you all who do the mastery by perfection rather than tying speed which because I don't type well & make a lot of typing errors which I have to correct even though I know the verses well!
Loved by Jesus, when you use the ST review combined option, does it have the verses in a paragraph form with sentences following one another, or is it reviewing one verse at a time followed by the next verse then the next verse, etc ?
I too learn a passage one verse at a time and then after I've reviewed them individually 3 or 4 times, I master them grouped together and usually review the indiv verses first then their grouped section, and after reviewing several grouped sections many times, I master a larger passage of several grouped sections (which would be 1/3 or 1/2 of the chapter) & after becoming comfortable with that, I master them together as a whole, still reviewing the grouped sections. I find it easier to remember the order of verses and to understand the concept of the teaching when I can see the flow of them in paragraph form. It's just how I best learn. It takes more time in setting up the Collections for a group but it's worth for me. I'm reading and re-reading the Word while I am deciding what verses to group together and that's a good thing in itself!! Many people do like just learning individual verses and that's OK too.
We are glad to have you join us, Loved by Jesus! If you have already learned some of James & Jude from other groups you will be surprised to see many very similar verses in Peter's letters but still some wonderful teachings and concepts we need to learn! My passion is learning larger passages and whole chapters in order to better understand and hide the word in my heart so you will see my verse count change as I eliminate the indiv verses from my review once I am proficient in the larger section. But I am always glad to see others pass me up in verse count! If you haven't done larger sections before, you might try it and see how much easier it is to remember the words when they flow from one sentence to the next. Either way, be blessed in the learning and WELCOME!
Great... so glad to know someone checks for & reads the posts on our Message Wall! I had memorized James 1 in the first group in was invited to Join on ST so I was glad to make the opportunity to finish it when I finished Jude. Like you, I had learned a few verses from 1 & 2 Peter on my own verse page so they dictated to me what version to learn the letters in so I could incoporate them into my review here. I usually read the chapter in several versions before I decide what I want to use to memorize it! Keep up the good work ... you have the hardest ones already under your belt - so rich and encouraging but also so convicting! But the others, tho' short are packed with exhortations and good teachings!
Yes, I just went back and read through them both when I saw your post. That's a good idea to do both Jude and 2 Peter at the same time. I haven't memorized either yet. Just bits and pieces from them. I have only memorized 1 John and James in the "J Letters" so far.
Hi, Susan, so glad you are joining us in this endeavor! Be sure & read my note below about Jude & 2 Peter! I was amazed and plan to go back and learn the similiar verses in the same version to more fully see their comparison.
WOW! In imputing 2 Peter, I saw the similarities to or direct quotes from Jude (as well as some similar to some in James)! If you haven't done Jude yet, you might want to do it before or at the same time as 2 Peter!! And even use the same version which I might go back & do. My Chronological Study Bible said it is inconclusive as to who wrote first, but what I read in Jude seems more detailed and expansive with Peter more of a pharaphase.
Yea! So glad you are joining me in this adventure! I will add more Collections for 2 Peter then Philemon & Philippians soon!
