Val, thank you for all your encouraging words about memorizing the Bible. I hopped on board here. Hope nobody minds :) I will just say that for ME, I switch em all over to the King James Version. WAY easier (and more fun) to memorize in. And I've done a fair amount of research about the issue of translations and I'm stickin with this one. If interested in this issue, here is an article to get started : icr.org/article/should-creationists-abandon-king-james-version/
Have a good Bank Holiday!😀
There are many situations we might find ourselves in during the course of our lives when having God’s word in our hearts and minds will be of great value-either to ourselves or to others: when we’re poorly-maybe too poorly to read; if our eyesight goes in old age; in conversation with other people etc. etc. And we must remember it’s God’s LIVING Word-so it is EFFECTIVE-it brings comfort to us and others;it is the TRUTH, it is LIGHT and LIFE; it shows us what God Himself is like in His character-His holiness, His loving kindness, His compassion and mercy. The Bible is amazing! So full of everything we need to know about God and how to live to please Him! Let’s encourage one another to value it more highly; read it more often and use this really helpful aid to commit it to memory 🤓
Here’s a quote from a lady who was imprisoned with all kinds of others (not just Christians)”We had no Bible. we ourselves hungered for it more than bread. How I wished I’d learnt more of it by heart!...we repeated daily those passages we knew...while others quarrelled and fought, we lay on our mattresses and used the Bible for prayer and meditation, and repeated it’s verses to ourselves through the long nights. The youngest Christians and the weakest had more resources to call upon than the wealthiest old ladies and the most brilliant intellectuals(“resources “also include prayer and Gods Holy Spirit living within)
how’s everyone getting on? don’t give up! your young brains are still like sponges, so it’s easier for you! and if you’re ever persecuted for your faith and don’t have access to a Bible, a situation that many believers have been in and still are in other countries, then the Lords word (which they have already memorised) comforts, strengthens and helps them.
Oh, OK, Annie tells me it was the wrong verse! That makes sense now
feels weird learning a verse that quotes Satan!
make sure you clean them teeth
