Hello West Ridge Bible Memorizers.
We have 4 people on the board memorizing verses with us. We have lots more lurking. I pray that they will soon go from lurkers to memorizers. If you have any questions about how to get started using scripturetyper email me (see email at bottom).
Brian gave us lots of good scripture today. I will summarize before I tell you which one I chose to put on our Bible Memory list.
1. Jesus grew up in a poor home to regular earthly parents, but he still chose to submit and obey. That was God's plan for him.
Luke 2:52 "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man."
As Brian said, this isn't a bad life plan for young people - don't rush God but keeping growing in his plan.
2. Jesus was God in the flesh.
Colossians 1:15-16 "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whetehr thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities -- all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together."
Colossians 2:9 "For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,"
3. Jesus was also fully human.
Philippians 2:5-8 "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross."
4. We are called to tell others:
1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness ito his marvelous light."
Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared before hand, that we should walk in them.
5. Main points:
-Hardship is not a handicap. See James 1:1. Jesus learned obedience from what he suffered. Hardship is where our roots grow deep.
-Timing is everything. Jesus lived in obscurity for 18 years.
-To lead well, we must first learn to follow well. See Luke 2:51
Great verses. You may add any of these to your personal verse library. But for the group, I am choosing a pretty simple one that gives a great life plan. Luke 2:52. May we be like Jesus and grow in wisdom and stature (healthiness - my translation) and in favor with God and man.
