FACT: The nails in Jesus’ hands probably went through his wrists and not in the center of his hands as is traditionally shown. That is because the wrist has a cluster of nerves and bone that could support his weight on the cross. The nail would rip through his hand if put through the center.
Keith. Thanks for checking in. I too am behind at about 22vs. but grateful to have gotten this far! Likely will go at an even slower pace moving forward.
If I remember correctly, we started memorizing 1 Thessalonians after Jim spoke on Sept 12 (almost 5 weeks ago.) His challenge was 6 verses a week (I think) to finish with the sermon series. That would mean we would be 30 verses in by Saturday. That would take us to the end of chapter 2. How are you doing? I am 25 verses in, so a little behind.
Chapter 1 done, 4 verses into chapter 2. This has been real meaningful to me. Today, "approved by God and entrusted with the Gospel, so we speak" Wow, I am overwhelmed.
On the lighter side, my typing is getting better. Which has caused me to give thanks. My fingers and my mouth just don't work in sync.
Our Bible Memory group has grown to 8 app "users". This is a no-pressure, no-performance, no-commitment group. Use the app in whatever way is helpful for you. Whether you memorize a handful of verses from 1 Thessalonians or memorize the whole book, we want it to be a blessing. I have used the app for 4-5 years now, almost daily in my QTs. So having invested in the "pro version" made sense - the $9.99 over 5 years = $2 a year. Not bad investment. The pro benefits I appreciate include: heat maps of words that I miss when reviewing (they become highlighted in red), history charts showing how many verses I have learned or reviewed or missed each day, and occasionally customizing my review schedule on a verse. Pro features I don't use include the voice recorder with audio playback (though Jim is using this), the Scripture Memory Bibles (I have other Bible apps I use), the flash cards (I occasionally tried this, but end up just using the typing first letter for review function). Hope this helps orient you a little more. Let me know if you have questions.
Welcome into the CrossWay Orlando group! If you have questions about the app, send me an email and I’ll try to answer. I have been using it for about five years and so am pretty familiar with it. Keith
Hi. this is Barb S. I'm also working on my verses in the nasb as is Jim.
Hey all, I will be memorizing with you but I will be using the NASB. Couldn't figure out how to use that version and be part of the group. Looking forward to doing this with you all.
During the fall of 2020, we are going to be memorizing 1 Thessalonians together. You can memorize all or part of it. This collection is using the English Standard Version. You can create your own collection in another version, if you prefer.
