TWO MOVIES ON MEMORIZATION w/ BLACK LEADS
1. Denzel Washington plays Eli in The THE BOOK OF ELI. Wonderful music and cinematography, good action, and good story. Very watchable.
2. FAHRENHEIT 451 with Michael Jordan. An update on Ray Bradbury's classic about censorship and people of the book. Smart and contemporary.
NAMES OF GOD -- The three verses in Exodus 14:19-21 are the source (in Hebrew) of the 216-letter, or 72-part name of God. Those who practice Bible magic and/or hoodoo will often substitute the verse that references a sacrifice or offering for the sacrifice or offering itself. In this case it is best to memorize the verses. Because they can substitute as a sacrifice or offering they are thought to have additional power.

As for other verses that reference the "name of God" or his "namesake" or other such references, this is a clue for special meditation on what this name might be and how our behavior and thoughts contribute to its creation.
What should I memorize first. Ask your spirits. I would recommend Isaiah 55:11, "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." This is a great verse to end a working. Let me know how this worked out for you. <3
I would tart this place up, but I only have a Chromebook, and the site is not optomized for Chromebook. None of the graphic commands work. =(
What am I memorizing now?
I am working on the following;
Psalm 35
This is a wonderful cursing chapter, and I've used verses 5 and 6 for a long time to make hot foot powder. They're the first verses that I memorized in the chapter. People have had excellent results praying this chapter in the workplace to bring situations under control. The chapter has a subtle and powerful means of elevating YOUR spirit and putting you into right relationship with Spirit. Right now, for me, the most powerful line in this chapter is verse 3b, "say unto my soul, I am thy salvation."
I have still to memorize verses 17-35.
Psalm 18
This is a long chapter at 50 verses. I have memorized 1-11 and 28. Yes, I started with 28, because it was so lovely. "The Lord my God will enlighten my darkeness."
The chapter starts in love and quickly changes to a terrifying vision of God coming to your defence. Much more powerful in cursing than chapter 35, this is cinematic in its horror.
Psalm 19
I learned the last verse of this chapter when i was a child and have prayed it often as a morning prayer. The entire chapter is a Hebrew morning prayer. I've memorized verses 1-3 and 7-14. The first half of the psalm is an intriguing, almost animist, calling of creation. I'm going to sit with this and feel that it would have use in ceremony. I memorized the second half first because it has a list and lists are easy for me to remember. I don't have too much more to memorize here, but spirit leads at her own pace.
Psalm 10
I am memorizing this through recital. I am doing justice work on family separation, child detention, and ICE. This is a cursing chapter that I am pointing to the evil in power. I recite it every morning at my justice altar. I am at the point where i can glance at a verse and recite most of it from memory. In a month or two it should be commited to memory through recital, and someone or more should be seen in a cast: "Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none."
I hope you'll join me in memorizing. Please let me know how I can support you.
