Wow. Thank God for his gradual progress in his health. I pray that God may strengthen you and your husband. I suggest you to take paracetamol (tyrenol) for cold. May the Lord be with you and comfort you. Psalms 103 1. Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3. who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4. who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5. who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagleʼs.
I have not visited him since last Sunday, a week. My son and I were exposed to some kind of cold-like illness the Thursday before that. Our son began feeling sick on Sunday with a 3-day flu, and I became sick by Wednesday. I have not had nausea or vomiting, or even a temperature, just a severe headache due to sinus congestion, a lot of sneezing, and a drippy nose. So, my husband and I do FaceTime so we can visit each other and see one another face to face. I will visit him in person once these cold symptoms pass; he is okay with that. But he is receiving visits from friends and family, and they bring him things that he needs from home.
The doctor felt that the MRI showed that he might have had multiple mild strokes earlier in the month as well. But Fred is doing better now that he is in rehab since Tuesday. He sounded much better by Thursday. He was very weak and tired before that, but seemed to be getting strength back in his voice. He usually does his therapies in the morning: first he tackles occupational, then speech, and finishes with physical therapy. By noon he is exhausted. He says he will be there 2 more weeks. By the way, this is the only hospital rehab in the area that has a doctor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech therapist in house.
@Yongseog Ko: Those are some of my favorite verses! Thank you for sharing them. It is good to remember the goodness of God. He stays very close to us when we allow him.
@Marilyn: I really feel sorry for you. My mother also had faced similar situation. she dropped food from her mouth when she had ate. we took her to a hospital and after scan, she took surgery on her brain. There was brain blood vessel swallowing. after her surgery she had abnormality on her right hand and leg. She is now 85 years old. God may comfort you with his unfailing love and faithfulness. (NIV Joshua chapter 1) 7. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
@DHL: Great insights both in your scripture text and on your T-shirt.
Encouragement to memorizing God's word: I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psa 119:11
Please also pray for me that God will give me strength to deal with my daily burdens. Besides my personal challenges (caring for home and garden, work responsibilities, now adding daily visits to see my husband across town, etc and etc), my two lazy and selfish adult children have chosen the way of the world! My son (46) has PTSD and lives with us. They both watch TV all day long or play on their computers. He is afraid to go out in the public and find a job. They have both adopted leftist ideologies since before covid. I cannot talk any sense into either of them. Fortunately she (37) does not live with us! I pray for them often. Please pray for Clyde and Beth (middle names for privacy) that God will be able to soften their hearts and guide them back to Him.
My husband, Fred, has recently had more than one light stroke on the left side of his brain. We just admitted him to the hospital where he will remain for a few days. Then he will go directly to a rehab after that. I stayed overnight Saturday night in the hospital with him. He is favoring his right side somewhat. He can still walk (praise God), but with assistance. No facial droop or slurred speech, but those brain bleeds have slowed him down significantly both physically and neurologically. He has some loss of right hand grip and control, and he walks with a slight limp. So he won't be coming home for a while. Please pray for Fred.
@Yongseog Ko: I was blessed by reading your words on scripture memorization. My thoughts exactly! They are such a blessing to store in the mind. Thank you for your insights. They will help me much in the next several weeks as I have heavy burdens I am facing.
I have memorized 600 verses until now which costs more than 600,000 dollars. 🤣
What if I offered you one thousand dollars for every verse you could memorize in the next seven days? Do you think your attitude toward Scripture memory and your ability to memorize would improve? Any financial reward would be minimal when compared to the accumulating value of the treasure of God’s Word deposited within your mind.
Gather the riches of God’s promises. Nobody can take away from you those texts from the Bible which you have learned by heart.
I know of no other single practice in the Christian life more rewarding, practically speaking, than memorizing Scripture… No other single exercise pays greater spiritual dividends! Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be sharper and much more effective. Your attitudes and outlook will begin to change. Your mind will become alert and observant. Your confidence and assurance will be enhanced. Your faith will be solidified.
When the heart full of God’s love can draw on the mind full of God’s word, timely blessings flow from the mouth.
One of the most valuable aids to meditation is Scripture memorization. In fact, when I encounter someone who is battling discouragement or depression, I often ask two questions: “Are you singing to the Lord?” and “Are you memorizing Scripture?” These two exercises are not some magical formula to make all our problems go away, but they do have incredible power to change our perspective and attitude toward the issues we are facing.
You are commanded to put aside the sinful practices of your old self, to be changed by a renewing of the mind, and to put on Christlike practices of your new self. Memorizing God’s Word is foundational to that process.
To memorize Scripture effectively, you must have a plan. The plan should include a selection of well-chosen verses, a practical system for learning those verses, a systematic means of reviewing them to keep them fresh in your memory, and simple rules for continuing Scripture memory on your own.
God’s Word must be so strongly fixed in our minds that it becomes the dominant influence in our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. One of the most effective ways of influencing our minds is through memorizing Scripture. David said, “I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You” (Psm. 119:11).
The word, stored in the heart, provides a mental depository for the Holy Spirit to use to mediate His grace to us, whatever our need for grace might be.
Revelation 21:22 - And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
God is our refuge, our Rock, our tabernacle, and He will be present with us as we offer our sacrifices of praise unto Him. He will have mercy upon us and answer us. We have only to ask.
Psalm 27:5-7 - For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
I have become a content creator on YouTube, and hope to have a video about 1 Samuel 17 up and running by tonight. Pray for me. I have to do a little research about copyright, regarding some of the stock images and videos I will be using in the video, before I can move forward. My channel is @thehighrock247 on YT.
