I did. But now it's not May. It's sometime else.. Katherine doesn't know and she was in it.
URGENT!! I seriously have to WARN YOU!! The KJV BIBLE has been CHANGED! (Look up the #MandelaEffect) The Lords Prayer in the KJV is not correct anymore in the KJV (how we remember "tresspasses" changed to "debts" and "those who tresspass against us" changed to "our debtors" and "ON earth" in Mt6,10 changed to "IN earth" - look it up!!!) and John8:32 has changed, as well as Isaiah11,6 changed from "Lion and Lamb will live together" to "Wolve(s) and lamb will live together"

PS: i'm not joking, i'm totally serious!
PPS: even wikipedia censors this topic... (see discussion on startpage in the wiki)
I haven't heard about it being aired in May, but I know that I can't figure out how one of my friends did either!
Did you hear something about the game show airing in May? I haven't heard anything, but May makes sense because of BB registration.
One of my best friends is in the game show and I can't find out how she did until May! And she can't tell me either. Confidentiality agreement.
I think they only sent it to people who got an interview at Nationals (who had previously sent in an audition) The Game show is over now (they finished taping it)
They announced it? Where?
please join my group called screaming potatoes! invite others please
Join my group guys! its called christmas! please invite others! Thx! the location right now is inchelium wa. It'll prob change to everywhere.
They have announced who made it to the 2015 (2016, I guess) Game show.... They chose 24 people out of each category!!
Hi the sword of truth thats FINe
*can't wait to watch NBBGS tonight*
I already knew that the SS was Ruth. :P Yep, Delie, I have lots and lots of friends I was too shy to meet in person. :P Actually, I only met one guy I knew from the internet! Most of the people I met were girls. :P The other guys I saw, but I didn't go say hi. :P
Yes, you're right, Delie and Everett... they really should know better than to send Sword Study advertisements on June 1, like Mom said! That was so confusing! And now it's John 1-6 which has about three times as many verses in it. Ugh.
The Sword Study book is Ruth, but the Sword Study now is a separate ministry from the Bible Bee. The study passage for BB Locals is John 1-6.
@Kelsey: Each episode is shown Wednesday and then replayed Saturday. As far as I know, those are the only times you can watch unless you pay $5 to NRB to watch anytime the week that the episode aired. @Hannah: HaHa! What a Bible Bee statement! I know what you mean about friends you have barely met. @Ellie: I believe that Ruth is the SS book written by Mrs. McMahan, but that we will have a different book for BB.
I'm not sure. I hope so, because I didn't get to see the first episode (and it had two friends in it!) (Well, the one I had only met once, the other I hadn't even met! :P)
Will the BB game show be available to watch after it airs? We haven't been able to watch it.
YAY! Daddy told me about that this morning. I wonder what time it will be announced. Not that it really matters, but it would be nice to know.
I believe Headquarters sent out an email confirming that the book will be announced on June 1. =D
@Hannah: I don't think that we can tell you... :)
Did you win, Delie?
I've heard of that too! I hope it's not a rumor!
@Ellie: Thanks!
@All: Did you hear about the book being released June 1st? Maybe it's another rumor. (I haven't seen anything official on the website.). Either way, I'm excited about it!
Haven't been on in awhile. Congratulations, Delie!
@Emma: I just sent a game show message to your post office! I wanted to let you know here in case you didn't check your mailbox. :)
It's fine. It didn't really matter who aired first.
Well, I guess I was wrong about Primaries airing first. Sorry for spreading a Bible Bee rumor! ;)
Can't wait to watch Saturday, because I couldn't watch on Wednesday.
@Hannah: Yes, I'm Delie M., and I was in Senior prelims for game show. (I can't say anything more than that.)
NRB says that each episode is 28:30. We live in CDT, so the shows will be over at 5:00.
Can't wait! I really hope they aren't too long, because I usually leave at 6:00 on Wednesday nights.
Thanks, Delie! Can't wait to watch you in it! (You were in the NBBGS, right?) Are you Delie M.?
@Hannah: It looks like each Saturday morning there is a replay of the same episode that aired on the last Wednesday night. So if Wednesdays don't work for you, you could watch it then.
I sure hope it hasn't! But this Wednesday I won't be able to watch anyway, because we have to leave probably before 5:30 to go to a Mother-Daughter thingy. :( :(
@Hannah: At some point, I heard that they would air for less than half an hour, but that could have changed.
Yup! Can't wait! How long will they be on? Because on Wednesday evenings we have to leave at 6:15 to get to prayer meeting.
No problem, ladies! We are counting down the days (and sometimes I count hours) until the first episode airs! :)
@Hannah: The shows are on Wednesdays at 5:30 EDT and Saturdays at 9:30 EDT.
@Emma: We don't know which contestants will be in each show, but I wish we did. Mr. Upton said in a webinar that Primaries air first. I'll keep you posted if we learn more.
Thank you, Delie! I can't wait to watch! What time exactly is it on?
How do you know who will be aired first? Do you know which contestants will be on which show? We have been trying to find out. Thanks
You can watch online at http://nrbnetwork.tv/Pages/watch_online.aspx. Daddy learned from a webinar yesterday that it will be on a couple of other networks too, but we don't know which ones yet. The Primaries will air first. Be prepared to watch some really cute young children recite and answer questions about the Bible!
OKAY! I REALLY can't wait to see it! Where is it online?
NBBGS is going to air on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings beginning May 20. You will be able to watch online or on DirecTV through NRB network. We are so excited about this opportunity to proclaim God's Word in homes all across the nation!
Bible Bee Nationals will be held in San Antonio TX, Nov 18th-22nd.
According to the webinar the other day, the NBBGS should air in May.

Kelsey - BB said before June 1, 2015. They weren't too specific. Also, we don't know what channel it's airing on; it may be on national television, or it may only be certain areas of the country. It depends on what station they contracted with.
Does any one know when the Bible Bee game show will be aired?

@Katherine: I was hoping I could join your group, but I couldn't find it...
Thanks! It's called Memorize the Bible - Genesis to Revelation.
i will and i don't think you sound rude...
Hi, Ellie! @BibleBee1215, would you like to join my ST group? I sort of need other members... :) Sorry if I sound rude or anything!
...trying to memorize Matthew...
Hi Katherine! I was wondering that too but wasn't sure how to ask. :)
Thank you so much for that encouragement, Everett! I'm planning on studying James this year too. It's one of my favorite books in the bible. I'm not sure what else I'm going to study this year...I guess I'll just figure it out as I go. :D
Congratulations everyone! No matter how well you did, remember that you are all winners in God's eyes because you have engraved His Word on your hearts and have studied it and made it a priority in your life.
I have had a lot of ideas on how I wanted to continue studying the Bible, but this is my plan so far: 1. Retain all the Bible Bee verses from this year 2. Do an inductive study on James. 3. Memorize and study famous portions of Scripture (Psalm 119, Matt. 5-7, 1 Cor. 13) 4. Create and execute a 2-4 year plan to memorize Romans-Jude. Ambitious ;) but I want to make sure that God comes first in my life.
I've just started a study on Daniel, with the intention of doing Revelation afterwards. I've also started on a project of (Lord willing!) eventually memorizing the entire Bible. I made an ST group on it called Memorize the Bible - Genesis to Revelation.
@Hat Lady, yes, I am Katherine Forster.
@Anna, Good for you. It can be easier to memorize knowing that you have to do the next chapter instead of trying to figure out what you are going to memorize next. I am going to study the book of Esther with some friends of mine, the hope being that I will also memorize Esther.:) It was good to meet you too, and maybe will be see each other next year. ;)
@Boots-n-Lace: I've started memorizing John. I'm not sure that I'll finish it by June, but I'm hoping I can get a nice chunk of it done, and then finish it later. I enjoyed meeting you! I'm Anna M. (Joy and Delie's younger sister).
I have some ideas of how I am going to continue studying now that Nationals are over, but what are some of the ways you all are going to do to keep in God's Word? I hope we can encourage one another by sharing ideas and can help each other stay in the Word.
The 2014 nationals pics are up now.
@Katherine: I think it went pretty well. I had a lot of fun! Do you happen to be Katherine Forster?
The same thing happened for me too, no idea
Hey everyone- I clicked on the National Photos and it popped up but all it was was a red screen- can anyone see the pictures yet? Thanx
Great! Orlando is quite a bit different than the smokeys! Does anyone know when they put up the pics of nationals?
Hi! How'd nationals go for everybody?
Contest day is tomorrow! Remember these verses when you go to testing/oral: John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." The Holy Spirit is within us and will help us remember what we've learned during the contest. May God use us for His glory! I'm praying for you all! Have an awesome day tomorrow! :)
@Boots-n-Lace and Katherine: I'm not either. :p But I guess I'm probably as ready as I'm ever going to be.

One day till prelims!!!!! Do your best!
I don't think anyone is ready!
Two days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am really excited, but I'm also not ready yet - working hard!
Cool!! I wish i could do that!
Now I am 3rd on the group leaderboard while being 15th yesterday. I don't know how that happened.
That's too bad RBB5. If I have a lot of passages to review, I just get what I can done and then leave them in review for the next day or days. ST doesn't penalize you for leaving them un-reviewed for several days.
Wow! Guess what! Don't expect something good. In my review section I had 112 memory passages to review, and that, of course, is impossible, so I checkmarked some of them and clicked Reset (un-memorize), and I thought it would put those memory cards for tomorrow's review, but really it made those passages not memorized. Oh, well, now I am #15 on the group leaderboard when I was #5 before!
I don't think this will help anyone now, but for future study, there is a free downloadable program called E-Sword, that you can then download other resources to, many of which are free. I just found that they have the Greek Septuagint with Strong's numbers. This would have been helpful for finding Greek words that correspond with the Hebrew.
I like your's dancer4Him557 and her's!!
BTW, Anna, I love your profile picture!
Hi Anna and Light4theLord!
@Light4theLord: Yes, I'm biblebee-a :). Hi, dancer4Him! @Ellie: Yes, it's really hard to keep them all current :(.
@Anna: I'm not ready either. So many verses... and I only have 50 current because I'm too busy to keep up with it all!
Hi dancer4Him557!!!! It's so good to see you! :P
Hi guys! I just got a Scripture Typer account! :D
Yeah, I'm super behind. We went on vacation and I didn't get anything done. I've got, like, seventy passages left. I'm not going to have all of them done unless a miracle happens!
Hey, are you on Quizlet as biblebee-a? I connected your profile picture on here with the one on the BibleBee website with the name on Introduce Yourself! and put one and two together!!! :?D
I'm not even done with all my verses. :S Ugh.................
No. I am NOT ready AT ALL. My verses have improved a lot in the last few days, but I still have quite a lot of Nahum study to do, and my verses still need a lot of review anyway. See everyone in ONE week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Everyone- Does anyone know how to look up people on here? I thought I did and then...
Are you kidding? I am so not ready. But it is exciting!
Oh no! I don't think I'm ready! Actually, I know I'm not ready :(. But I am still very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, this is not as bad as I thought... I'm reviewing all these at once. A little overwhelming but...
Oh no! I was on vacation for four days and now I have to review ALL my verses!!! Great... not.
I know!!! I think the statement "time flies" is actually literal... =)
Nine days! I can't believe it went by that fast!
@Everett: Yes I heard about the changes to the oral round. I have not been to Nationals before, but I don't like the changes. I don't like standing in front of people.
@Boots-n-Lace - Did you hear about the change to the Oral Round? The time is proportioned differently, giving an average of 42 seconds per verse instead of 30. They may ask some long ones, but hopefully not the super long ones! @Anna - Thankfully Nahum is three less chapters than Ephesians :P
I already know that I am not going to have all of my verses memorized. But I am making sure that I know all of the shorter passages that they will be more likely to ask during the preliminary round.
@Everett: Neither am I! I should be by Nats, though (hopefully... Lord willing) :D @Anna: So am I! I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody!
Wow! Last year seems easy compared to this (though it didn't at the time). Then we had three more weeks AND an easier study book. But I am looking forward to Nationals, even if I do horrible! :)
I wish it wasn't so close.

WOW. That came quick.
I'm not done with my verses yet!!!! Yikes.
:D :P :O :S =)
I know, it's too soon! Goodness sakes. Oh, and your idea is a good one.
Oh no!!! It doesn't seem like it should be that close! :)
I like the memorizing the Bible thing. That sounds like a great idea.
Bible Bee is in two weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys, after Bible Bee I'm thinking about making a group on here for memorizing the whole Bible (or getting as far as we can!) I know there's already another group on here that's similar, but this will be set up a little differently - and it'll let us keep in touch after BB! What do you think?
That sounds good. Give me the time and place, I'll be there. (Hopefully! No promises however..) :) (:
I guess in the hotel lobby.
@BibltBee1215: That would be awesome! :)
Hey let's have a ST meeting at Nationals!! We have Memverse and Quizlet meetings, so why not a Scripture Typer meeting??:)
Notice to all Seniors, I just found an extra verse in the National collection. Colossians 2:2-4 is not supposed to be there.
Hey everyone, my mom gave me a good idea. Since some of us don't have our real names or ST, when we all get to Nationals, we won't know who are ST friends are. So we could put our ST names on our nametags or somewhere else visible so we can recognize each other. :)
Everett-What are the primary passages?
For Primary's and Junior's, there are 10 long passages that stand out among the rest. I assume that those 10 will be asked in finals (Five contestants; two recitations).
I think those three long ones will probably be those ones they ask in the Finals.
You seniors and juniors... I'm so glad I'm still a Primary. :)
All these pronouncements of doom this year! I see why though, of course.
@Joy- I think you're right, actually.
I think Revelation 18 looks like the longest one the cards (at least in ESV), Romans 9 is the longest one in verses, and Ezekiel 31 feels like the longest because it is so difficult.
Yeah, I don't really like the Ezekiel passage, probably just because I don't know it as well.
So Romans 9:1-33 is probably the longest. I just memorized that one yesterday. But Ezekiel 31:1-18 is definitely harder.
@ Katherine, Ezekiel 31:1-18 is a five card passage, Revelation 18:1-24, another 5 card passage, and last but not least Romans 9:1-33, another five card passage which also happens to be the whole chapter. :)
What's our longest passage in cards/verses?
@Katherine: I didn't know you could do that! Perhaps I should try it sometime.
@BibleBeeDogs: Yes, I tried to do that yesterday and it wouldn't let me. I ended up putting the whole reference in the "book" part, and just zeros for chapter and verse.
@BibleBeeDogs: I will add it again, and then for those that already have it can just delete it.
Is anyone else missing Zechariah 2:1-13?
@Boots-n-Lace: No, it won't let me add it. I have a Zechariah 7:5-6, 8:3, and 12:1-14, but no 2:1-13. That's very strange that it's on yours and not mine. I've never touched it or any of the surrounding passages, so I couldn't have deleted it on accident. I don't know how it disappeared.
@Katherine: I know you were talking to Boots-n-Lace, but ST won't let a passage cross chapters. It was the same way last year with a lot of memory passages.
@Boots-n-Lace: Hebrews 6:19-7:21 is split into Hebrews 6:19-20 and Hebrews 7:1-21.
That is funny. I just memorized that and it was on my list. Can you add it?
@Boots-n-Lace: Zechariah 2:1-13 is missing from the Senior list.
Hmm... I guess I just need to get on there and try it out! :)

Well, when you review, you rate each verse, not each passage. So I guess it would count it as a passage but it would still give it to you as individual verses. It's kinda nice because you only review the verses within a passage that need review.
Thanks, Everett! If you input several verses in a row, will it put them all together as one passage?
Katherine - Memverse is much different than ST and can be hard to figure out. If you go under the "help" section there is a video tutorial that's pretty helpful. Memverse only lets you input one verse at a time; if you want to add a whole passage you will have to add it one verse at a time. When you review a verse, you estimate how difficult it was on a 1-5 scale. If you click 1, it might tell you to review it the next day; if you click 5, it might tell you to review in in 5 days. Also, if you type the first letter of each word it will count it too.
Could anyone explain to me how to use Memverse for BB verses? I tried to use it once, and it would only let me input one verse at a time.
@Boots-n-Lace: I'm highly visual, too. I actually used BLB all week last week, as I was away and didn't have the Bible Study program we have on our computer. Looking up Greek/Hebrew is so easy on there!
I know this has nothing to do with learning verses, but a great study help for your Nahum study would be www.blueletterbible.org. I know some of you know about this, but it is a great resource for Bible dictionaries, looking up Hebrew/Greek words, and also cross-references.
@Katherine: I listen to the verses as I fall asleep too. My dad records them for me. I'm pretty auditory, so it really helps me.
I am not auditory either, I am a highly visual learner. :)
No, I'm not auditory, but last year I recorded all of them to listen to as I fell asleep; I started this year, but I still need to finish.
Oh, and if you are an auditory learner, if you recite a verse perfectly on recording, you can save the recording and just listen to it as a kind of review.
Yeah, it would... but good idea! I'll have to try that when I get home.
@Katherine: I wish I did. If you don't have someone to listen to you, you could record yourself saying the verses and then listen to them and find out if and where you made mistakes. Obviously, that would take more time than having a parent or sibling listen to you.
@Boots-n-Lace: Yeah, you really need to recite to yourself or another person, as well as use ST; I really wish there was a program like this, but where you could speak the verse into it and it would check you. Do you know of any?
I use ST in a weird way. I only memorize the OT verses on here, and I do the NT verses on Memverse. Memverse has a better review system but all the verses are inputted into like a database by the users, so they don't have the more unknown parts of Scripture on there.
Thanks Katherine. I fixed the Psalms. I use ST in various ways. I will sometimes use it to memorize verses, but mostly I use it to review. I use their review schedule, partially because I find it annoying if I let all the verses accumulate. It is a fast way to review, but I also need to review them out loud. I can't depend on ST because it gives me visual cues and I won't have those reciting to someone.
By the way, how do you guys use ST? Just for review? And do you follow their review schedule at all? I have an idea of how to review, and I was wondering if I should incorporate their schedule at all. Of course, they have you reviewing too often for the amount of verses we have!
I've got John 16:28. You might just want to check all the Psalms passages, though, to make sure they don't have intros, because Psalm 40:1-17 did.
@BibleBeeDogs: Thank you!, if anyone finds anymore verses missing please let me know and I will add them as soon as I can.
John 16:28 shows up on mine.
@Ellie Borah: I don't know if you noticed, but the verses aren't split into the age divisions like the say. The senior collection has a lot of verses that don't belong, and then don't have all the verses that do belong. I am assuming the other collections are pretty much the same. I do know that the primary one at least has verses that do not belong. So if anyone still needs to download the national verses, they would be best doing it directly from this group.
They put the National verses up!
Calling all Seniors, could you please let me know if John 16:28 shows up in your collection? I found it missing when I went to memorize it so I added it and I want to make sure everyone has it.
Yes, that is the senior collection. Depending on when you downloaded it, I know there were some verses that were doubled. I changed the collection from having the long passages split to being one long section, and I might not have deleted all of the shorter sections of the long passages.
Okay! Just wondering, the verse collection that says "National Bible Bee" is the Senior collection, right? I downloaded it, and it says I have 761 verses to memorize. I thought it was 750, but I never actually saw the numbers on the site, so is it really 761?
Thanks Katherine! I should edit that out, but all of you that have already downloaded the senior collection will have to edit that yourself, Scripture Typer won't let me do it for you once you have downloaded the collection.
Hi! Just thought I'd let you know, Psalm 51:1-17 (Senior verse) in the collection here includes the intro, which isn't on the card. I edited it for myself, but I figured someone might just memorize it on here and not check the card.
No, they're not last year's verses. I think whoever put them up started with the Primary, and then did like it has been in other years, added the Junior, and then the Senior, memory passages, to the subsequent collections. I think you're right; it was a mistake. It had me scared there for a minute ! :)
@BibleBeeDogs: Are any of the Genesis passages ones you memorized last year? The collections are different on the Bible Bee page, but it looks like they added (accidentally?) extra passages. I double checked Bible Bee's website and nothing has change there. My recommendation is that everyone just use the collections they have already downloaded from here. I think that someone screwed up when they added the verses.
Has anybody seen the verse collections on the Bible Bee page on ST? It looks like the collections combined all the Primary, Junior, and Senior passages into one collection. That's not what it's supposed to be, is it? I mean, it's still supposed to be separate passages for each age division and we Seniors aren't supposed to also memorize the Primary and Junior passages, right ?!?!
Anyone who wants to memorize this year's Bible Bee Nationals passages can join this group!
Can anyone join this group?
Yah, I memorized Jonah over the summer too. It's really nice that they made Jonah part of the memory verses. (:
I know! I memorized Jonah over the summer, so it isn't quite so much, but still. I have to do 11 verses a day, not counting Sundays, and even then I only finish the day before competition.
@Ellie: Yah, it's totally a lot. Last year it was 600 verses, and this year when I saw it was 601, I was like, "Nooo!" (Yah, I'm crazy that way.) But it's kind of stressful to have less time for more verses...
@Ellie Borah: I totally agree...601 is definitely a LOT to memorize! This is my first year going to nats, so it's quite a challenge. (:
Yeah, this year is pretty difficult. Last year we had the same amount of verses to learn and two more weeks to study. Even then, I ended up learning my verses on our airplane flight... I will make sure that it doesn't happen again :P
@Ellie Borah: I know what you mean. I think no matter what age division you are in, 450, 601, or 750 verses is a lot. I am a quarter of the way through 750, but I am still feeling overwhelmed. :)
@BibleBeeDogs: Yes, thank you!
@Boots-n-Lace: I'm a bit overwhelmed... 601 verses is A LOT. I think it's going okay so far.
Thanks for putting the verses up!
How is everyone feeling about their studying?
Sure thing, Kelsey! My pleasure! :)
@BibleBeeDogs: Thanks for putting the junior verses on here! :)
@Boots-n-Lace: That's fine! Thanks for your help! =)
@BibleBeeDogs: I have added those verses again, so hopefully you will have them again. :) Sorry, to anyone else who will have duplicates of Job 40 and Psalm 40, just delete the second one.
I hope that makes any sense at all. :)
I'm really sorry, Boots-n-Lace, I don't know if you can fix this, but I accidentally deleted Job 40:1-14 and Psalm 40:1-17 from my list while trying to delete them off a different list and I can't put them back on. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't create the collection, but it won't do it. We figured out you can add verses to your collections, but I don't know if you can fix it because it will still be on your collection, unless you just try adding it again. I don't think it will add it twice on your own collection, but maybe if you do that it will reappear on mine. Do you think you could try?
Mine was missing verse 33 too, but I just went to my collection and clicked the edit button and changed it to add verse 33.
Oops. I originally had all of the long passages broken up like on the verse cards, but then changed them so it was all one passage, like we will recite them. Are any of the other long passages broken up? Sadly, if you find any other errors you will have to fix them yourself. BibleBeeDogs and I worked through a lot of things to find out what we can and cannot do as administrators to fix any problems that are found. We found that once a collection is uploaded onto a group and someone has downloaded it, the only thing we can do to change their collection is add verses to it.
Hmm. That's odd. =p It says its Romans 9:1-32, but obviously, broken out in the different verse cards sections.
Is anyone else missing verse 33, of Romans 9?
@His Servant: I looked through my verses and I have verse 33. There must have been some glitch on ST's part. Does the reference say Romans 9:1-33?
Romans 9 is missing the last verse, 33, it looks like.
No problem. My younger sister kept asking if they had the National verses up. I eventually gave in and did it myself. I figured there was no point in everyone having to put them up.
Thank you for adding the Primary verses! My brothers (Reepicheep and Thomas C. Moss) really appreciate it.
Thank you again, Boots-n-Lace, for all the work you have been putting in on these verses! I really appreciate it. I can work on the Junior verses if you like.
Alright, the Primary verses for Nationals are up. Again, these verses are in ESV, but just select your translation when you upload the collection. The senior verses are the collection called National Bible Bee.
Okay. I didn't realize how much time it would take to fix the passages, but it is all done.
If you wouldn't mind, Boots-n-Lace, it's easier if whole passages are kept together, as it helps it to stay continuous in my mind when I am studying it instead of thinking of it as two separate passages. And then when it comes up for review on ST, it will always be together instead of split. :) But, don't do it just for me either. If it really helps you to have them split like that, or if it takes too much time to fix it, that's okay.
Don't worry about changing them to whole passages for me. I don't plan to use ST for my nationals verses--last year I did and discovered that it just doesn't work for my brain :). I was just using the list to make my own checklist of verses. Thanks for taking the time to get them all on here!
Yes, I split many of the longer passages up into smaller sections, similar to what is on the verse cards, to make it easier for those of us who like to memorize on ST. I will consider changing them to the whole passage.....
Thank you for adding these! Btw, I think that Job 40:1-14 is one passage, not two (Job 40:1-7 and Job 40:8-14). :). Happy studying to all of you!
Oops. I had to fix another one earlier, I didn't catch the fact that one of the verses was entered as John 40:3-4, (I never knew that John had 40 chapters!) :) oops. That passage has been removed.
Never mind; I was able to fix it!
Thanks again so much! I know this is quick, but 1 Peter 3:3-12 is actually supposed to be 1 Peter 1:3-12. :)
I use ESV, so that is the translation the verses are posted in, but when you select to add the verse collection you can also change the translation.
Senior verses are up everyone!
Great! Thank you so much, Boots-n-Lace! You are now an official administrator! :)
Bible Bee Dogs: I have uploaded all of the Senior verses for nationals. If you add me as an administrator, I can upload that here.
I've started one, but I am hoping I don't have to enter them all. I am hoping that Bible Bee releases a collection on Monday like they did for the summer verses

Has anyone created a collection with the Senior verses for Nationals?
Okay. Thanks! That helps me a lot!
I had no problem, I have my settings set to automatically download the verses in the correct version. But, I have found before, that all you have to do is when you click to add a collection is change the version in the little drop down box above the verses and then click add at the bottom. :)
I haven't tried loading it here, but on another group I added a collection that was originally NKJV and had no trouble making it ESV when I added it. As far as I know one version should work fine for everybody as long as they know to change the translation when they add it.
Congratulations to everybody!
I posted, for experiment, one summer verse collection. Does anyone want to download it and see if it will automatically translate to your translation? I couldn't figure out how to make it so anyone can choose a translation. If someone would be willing to try it, it would help me when it comes time to download Nationals verses, so I know whether I have to download all the collections in all the versions, or if only one in each age division will suffice. Thanks!
Congratulations! Whoops, I double posted down there.
Congratulations to everyone who made it to nationals! Although I'm not sure if I'll actually end up attending nationals, it was exciting to see that I made it! :)
Some of it was super easy. Yes, I had a lot of fun!
Some of it was super easy. Yes, I had a lot of fun!
Did everyone have a good day yesterday? did anyone else think the test was super easy?
So did I! Well, a while ago now.
The big day is tomorrrow!!!
I FINISHED ALL MY VERSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm only 4 weeks ahead. 3 more weeks to go! :D
Week 7!? You're almost done!
Thanks! I'm on Week 7 now. :)
That is to say, Bookworm Cook, you are amazingly fast with that Sword Study.
I am NOT halfway through the Sword Study but doing fine with passages.
:D:D:D:D I have 13 passage done now, and am halfway through the Sword Study!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am missing everyone so bad! I hope to make it to nationals so I can see everyone again. :)
Oh seriously. You are SUPER fast! :)
I am? Thanks! Now I have 11 done! Today I will start Week four Day four in my Sword Study! I'm going fast so I can do it over at least 2 times. 11 passages = 25 verses.
I have seven verses (three passages) done, but I really should work in my Sword Study now.
Wow. I only have one! You're quite fast.
YAY!!!!! i already have 5 passages done! One of them was part of a Primary Nationals passage.
So... who's ready for Bible Bee? Yesterday was the last day of registration if you want to get your box on time.
@Jordan Strang: Hey, good job performing at Christian Heritage Conference! Your performance was amazing! Personally, I thought you were the best piano player there...:P
@GermanCello: On June 1st, I am going to be in a music recital. The song I will play on the piano has a cello part, and I was wondering if you would like to learn it and play with me. I do know that it is on a Sunday evening, so if that won't work, it's okay.
I'm not... especially since registration started today...
We might not even do Bible Bee this year. :(
Is anyone else counting down the days until registration? Our family can't wait!
*rubs tummy* Umm... numm nummm..... yummy..... mmmmmmmmm....... That pudding was GOOD! :)
You've never been on here before? Because you said you haven't been on here in forever... But I've seen you post on here before! Or was it a hacker? :P Well... we just got a dozen chicks for eggs this summer! Besides that, nothing really out of the ordinary... Except I did make pudding today... which is VERY out of the ordinary...
Whoa! I haven't been on here in forever.... What's been going on with you all?
Hmm... cool! I would LOVE to go snow boarding or skiing...
@Mat is my brother. Yes, we ski a lot. Actually that picture is not really skis... it's not really anything. It's like a mix between a snowboard and skis. Kind of weird...
Happy birthday to my loving father! :) @Mat: Are you skiing in that picture? I've never been on skis, though we have some. We might go skiing if we get a good warm snow!
Happy Birthday, people whose birthday it was!
Caleb's was the 27, and Mom's was the 28. :)
Happy late birthday to my brother Nathan! (It was the 11th.)
@Hannah: When are their birthdays?
Happy early birthday to my mom and brother! Happy late New Year!
Hmmmmm... Matt? Are you sure you're okay? Just checkin'!
jk Good to have you on here... (even though I questions your credibility! ;))
Haha!! Welcome Matt! Great to have you on here!
Yea... Okay... Not sure where that came from... Sorry guys we're just having fun. =) lol
Buttoned my shirt wrong. I laughed so hard I had to go outside. Brilliant!
Had an interesting conversation with my friend Steve about moss-resisting tile grout. He didn't seem interested. Crazy days, right?
Highlight of 2013 was putting a knife in the spoon compartment! On purpose, I was out of control...
Hip Hip Hooray! Introducing my bro. Mat. Get ready for some roll on the floor humor, actually he is super boring ... ;b
Well, they are kind of short but it's really neat to see the orchestra! But, I can't see myself because I'm too short, and I can't see my sister because the conductor is standing RIGHT in front of her!
@Ellie: No, I have not seen the videos yet. How are they? @Everyone: Happy 2014!
@Jordan, I just reached six feet and just was wondering if you had too. @everyone, if people say merry X-mas, than happy X-year!
Happy New Year, everyone!!! On another subject, I just started a new ST group, called "Bible Bee Graduates". My friend Anna L. (horsejumper2) and I decided to make it because we will both be graduates next year! It is still in progress, but we hope to have all the previous Bible Bee verses on there eventually. BTW, does anyone know how I can add another "administrator" to the group? I started the group, but I want Anna L. as an administrator as well.
Oh my goodness, how did you do that?! I mean stay up that late. But yes, Happy new year!
Happy new year everyone!!! Although I'm two hours late since it's about 2:20 am right now! ;)
I was standing next to a tall girl and you can see her but not me, so it looks like there's no one next to her but actually I was there and sharing her book!
@Josh: Me? Yeah... I'm six feet. It's not super tall though... I do have a friend who's a year younger than me and already 6' 5.5". He's tall! What picture did I look pretty tall in?
@everyone: Happy new year"s eve!
@Jordan are you six feet tall? You look pretty tall. =)
Hat Lady, did you see the orchestra videos?
@Josh: It is hard, today I got on and I have 27 passages to review!
@Ellie the few verses I have is really hard to keep up to date it must be really hard to have hundreds! Btw, @Carissa, thank you for your Birthday blessing, sorry I didn't reply earlier... @Everyone happy new year
@Ellie: I agree with you! =)
@Rachel: I guess you're right, but I still want to stay caught up! :)
I have kind of given up on staying up to date on here...I figure that as long as I know them, well, it doesn't matter if Scripture Typer knows that I know them!! :)
It seemed harder before Nationals, I think!
@Janae, I'm sure you have more verse than me. I have 124 verse altogether, most of them are counted on other groups.
@Josh: Yeah, I have a lot of verses that need to be reviewed. No matter how many I review today, I know I will have a bunch tomorrow! :P I have spent the past three review sessions trying to catch up... it didn't seem this hard before Nationals!
I had and still do have a lot of verses to get up to date!
You guys were on on Christmas? I just didn't have the time.
Thank you for the happy birthdays and Merry Christmas to you too!
Happy Birthday Ellie!!! :)
@Ellie: Happy birthday! :)
I'm turning 14. Thank you!
Happy Birthday, Ellie and Josh! I pray that in this new year you will draw even closer to the Lord. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you both.
Happy birthday Ellie, I turned 16 three days ago. How old are you turning?
@Ellie: Happy Birthday!!!!! I have 2 other friends who were born on Christmas Eve... one likes it and one doesn't! :) Anyway, Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas!!!
It's my birthday tomorrow! Yay!
@Abbi: Okay, good. I was hoping you got it by now.
@Josh: Nice shirts you guys have there!! :P haha! I'
ll have to check that movie out! Looks like..... Something you would come up with!
@Ellie: yes we did. I will try to reply soon, but with Christmas and all, I don't know if I will be able to before the middle of January...
@Jordan, speaking of videos here is a link to another one. https://vimeo.com/82258541
@N. Janae: It's actually not as amazing as it sounds. If I start Jan. 1 and end April 31 (that would leave one month before locals) then I would only be memorizing 2 verses a day. With Nationals, I was memorizing 9 or 10 verses a day. @Everyone: we have 424 wall posts now!
Abbi and Tabitha, I sent you a letter, did you get it?
Whoah, everything looks so different on here now!
That is so great! I probably won't be able to see myself :( but at least I can hear it, and I can probably see my sister! :):):)
Whoo Hoo!!!
Thanks, Josh!
@everyone. Here is a link to the national orchestra videos, you don't dropbox to view the videos. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hvpoc4t7wei1ch1/Alm6hnOqb8
Oh. Well, they sure made it harder! i have to do Memorize It review because the long passages I can't do without hints.
Isn't it? I think Scripture Typer has just been "updated" like websites do, changing little things here and there.
Help! Does anyone know what happened to ST? I reviewed a long passage and it says I have to be at 90 percent with no hints. It never did that to me before. I was at 97 and got maybe 4 hints. That is so annoying!
@Josh I think I've done that before. It is really easy. :)
@Ellie: You don't need it to view the uploaded files or even to download them... It's really simple!
I don't have dropbox, whatever that is.
@Josh: I looked at mine last night... Basically, you upload the files via your computer, then go to dropbox.com and make a shared folder of those files... Then you can get a url for that folder.
@Josh: Jordan mentioned a good idea. Dropbox would be a great way to send it. It's something I would recommend downloading for other purposes. I have it for some work I do, and it is an easy way to share things without emailing, posting, etc. I haven't really figured it out, as I don't use it much, but I found it to work well, especially for uploading large files.
@Jordan, I do have dropbox! Not sure how to get it to you...
Josh... Do any of you guys have dropbox? If you uploaded them to there and post the link on here. You can keep it private and hey.. it's free!!!
@Josh: You could upload them to your computer, and from there you could upload them to a website (YouTube is an option, as Ellie mentioned) and share the link here on Scripture Typer. They could also be uploaded in an email and sent.
I have no idea, unless she put them on YouTube.
My Mom took five videos, but I don't know how I could get them to any of you. Any ideas?
@Jordan: No, I don't have them, I was asking if anyone knows where I can find them. I know it sounds better than the demos because I was there. :)
Sorry Jordan, just giving you a hard time.
@Josh: I kinda wanted to watch all my friends cause I didn't actually get to see it cause I was in it.... And I couldn't really hear bc the sound really bounced around on stage.
@Jordan, why the senior semis? Sorta seams random.
@Ellie: You have movies of the choral?!?! I want to see these! Okay... so the problem is, they didn't actually archive the closing ceremonies on lifestream because the only reason they live streamed it was so the rest of my family could watch at home. (My good friend was running the cameras!) So unfortunately, there's nothing online from those ceremonies. As of yesterday, they've also taken down all the semi and final challenge rounds... Bummer because I wanted to look back over them and especially the senior semis!
Does anyone know where I can find videos of the closing ceremony choir? I looked on Google and YouTube but couldn't find anything. The real choir sounds so much better than the recordings. :)
@Josh: Okay, that makes sense. @Anna: I got higher place and lower scores than I thought, too.
@biblebee-SR: Sometimes it's nice to be short, like playing soccer, but other times it's not, like when nobody sees you. Which is good in soccer, actually! :)
@Anna: Congratulations on how well you placed! That is amazing that you are memorizing so many whole books! In the meantime before locals, I have decided to review all my previous verses... all the way back to 2009! Maybe I will choose a short book to memorize as well... that is such a good technique! Hope you have time for 2 Thessalonians as well!!!
@Ellie and Louise: I'm really short as well :) But I wasn't in the choir...
@Ellie: okay, whenever you get a chance is fine! I look forward to hearing from you!
I had decided that the book must be Philippians the night before I heard what Jordan said about it being 1 Thessalonians, so now I'm not sure what to think! Even though I hope it's James, it's probably not because (not counting 2009) the pattern of the authors has been Paul, not Paul, Paul, not Paul (I think). Since I'm going to be done memorizing James in about a week I had decided to memorize Philippians next but I think now I'm going to memorize Philippians and 1 Thessalonians and (maybe 2 Thessalonians if I have time). I'm so glad they announced the scores! I placed about 30 places higher than I was expecting and got 40-70 fewer points than I was expecting :). Congratulations everyone!!!!!
@Ellie, a viola is a bigger violin, with the highest string removed and a deeper string added. It's basically a deeper violin. Actually, we had three violins playing the viola part with the violin. One of three is Lydia Taw who is on scripture typer (Taw kids). I think she is in the Bible Bee juniors group.
@Abbi: I'll write a letter sometime. I'm really busy; it's Christmastime and we have tons to do, and I have like 5 letters to write, so I'll write when I get the chance.
I was in the last rehearsal (we were having a birthday party at a friend's room for me during the practice on Thursday) but then decided I didn't want to be in the choir. :P It got my legs tired, and since I hadn't been at the first practice, I sounded horrible and out of place. :P And that one song was especially hard for me, because the tenors had the melody. I absolutely CANNOT sing harmony. :( So I just didn't sing at all. :( And I would be in the front row, so I would look really weird not moving my lips. So, I decided not to do it. :\
@Ellie: Oh, yeah, I'm Louise. I just have a reputation in the McMinnville hive as being the Hat Lady, so I chose that for my Scripture Typer name.
@Ellie: I was an alto, too.
I don't think there was any of me in the choir or on the piano either... I think last year's pictures were better!!! For one thing, there was WAY more! Course, my friend was the photographer last year and his tons of pictures he takes probably accounted for part of that!
Okay I know, 4 posts in a row. If Abbi and Tabitha are reading this: Hi! I didn't know you were on here.
Who's Louise? I don't see her. I guess she has a different ST name.
@Hannah: You didn't do horrible. I saw a few Juniors who got 0 on the Oral. That doesn't mean they did bad, it means the test was SUPER HARD. Which, of course, it was.
@Josh: What exactly is a viola? I play piano but I wasn't piano I was alto in the choir. That was really fun!
@Nicole, thank you, and you are right. @Ellie and @Louise I played the viola, but I saw you both in practice.
Were you playing the piano? That was funny at practice when the conductor called you Miss Piano Player. I was in altos. What part were you?
@Ellie: I haven't looked at the pictures yet, but I doubt I'll be able to find myself in the choir! I'm also short, but I had to stand in the back so I could get to the piano.
@Josh: Thanks! I've been in the Bible Bee since 2009, but this was the first year I qualified, so I know how you feel. Also, remember that whatever place you get, you have more of the Word of God hidden in your heart than you did last year, and that is worth more than anything the Shelby Kennedy Foundation could give you! :) I hope you make it next year!
There were pictures of the choir, but I couldn't see myself! I could see where I was, but I was behind other people and I am SO SHORT.
@Nicole, you did better than I did, I didn't even qualify for nationals! My two sisters did and hope to as well next year.
@ Ellie: I'm a Primary. @ N. Janae: Thanks! @ biblebee - SR: I did horrible on the written test and horribler on orals. @ Jordan: I might get to meet you then! (But we might not go, it's soooo far away.... :( :( :O)
Okay... So I going to agree with Joe and say that if there's a year that they would do 1 & 2 Thes... It would have to be 2014 because of the shortened study time from locals to Nats... My inside sources tell me they're supposed to decrease study materials next year.... I also think James would be a great choice for locals BC it's so amazingly practical for Christians... the type of book that would be great for thousands of Christians to study... so James wouldn't surprise me at all. Sure! I'll let you guys know if you want, but since Nathan is super busy, I'm not sure if anything will happen.... I hope so though, bc we're all such good friends from studying together and it would be really sad if we couldn't all get back together! Course, there is next year at Nats!!!! I'm going to be there I found out!!!!!!! WHOOOOOO!
Wow, I've missed a lot!
Y'all did great!! I wish I could have met more of y'all but I just didn't see any of y'all...
My placement was 43rd place in seniors...I did dreadful on the written test but good on the orals....
@Jordan: Do tell us!!! :) I REALLY want to know! Also, if Nathan T. (or anyone else) sets up another study group could you please let me know?
@Hannah: 49th isn't horrible! Its wonderful! And that is awesome that you placed 17 in locals. You've got to remember that with Nationals, it's a new competition. You've got a chance to change your ranking nationally, which is the whole point. You can't expect to get the exact placement you did at locals. No one can, really. I certainly didn't keep my locals ranking (which is a good thing). I was 118 at locals and 93 at Nationals! I am just glad I improved, no matter how small the improvement was! Stepping off my soapbox now. You did AWESOME! Be proud of yourself!
@Jordan: Ok, now that you've said something, you have to tell us what you think the books will be. What makes sense, anyway? 2nd and 3rd John? Galatians??
But I am alright with that now.
there were no good picturs of the orchestra!
You did better than me. I was 38 at locals and 55 at nationals. Wait which division are you?
@ Josh: There are probably 18 short (enough) books in the Bible to study, Then they'll start over. (that way, no one will get to have the same BB book twice! Wow, I've missed a lot on here! Time to catch up! @ Jordan: I wasn't in any of those pictures! :( Tell us the books! I want Hebrews, because it starts with H..... go figure. :) I placed 49th. HORRIBLE! In locals, I placed 17. I did horrible (at nationals) with an oral score of 60 :\ and a written score of 396. :\ @ Jordan (again) Why don't you just make it final and make yourself a new account on Memverse? (and chat on the forums, of course :) @ All: I felt very confident on the written test, I thought I would do much better! But whatever, at least I wasn't the worst one there... BTW, I'm just saying things as I think of them. That's why they're so jumbled. :)
I'm serious now, what if in the future when they run out of short books, they will do passages? What do you guys think?
I placed 37th. I placed higher than in the summer, but only by three as I placed 40th in the summer. This time I did better on the written test, but that's not really a surprise since the test was easier than the summer. But my oral round was worse than the summer. But overall I did better. But I'm really glad I was able to go to Nationals.
@Everett: Oh okay! Since this is my first year I didn't know what was done in the past. :) James would be cool! I like that book. @Hat Lady: I don't think Lamentations would be depressing...it may seem like that at first glance, but really, it is a book full of hope! "You have taken up my cause, O Lord; you have redeemed my life." - Lamentations 3:58 i find that pretty awesome and hopeful, anyways! :)
That would be neat if it were James. I know a ton of verses from that because of going to Nationals.
Yes, you should say! Written test is always really hard. I get so annoyed because they ask questions that weren't in the study.
Maybe 1 and 2 Thessalonians?...
I think I might know what the books are............ Should I say? Could be wrong, but this makes sense.....
@Josh: That would be hilarious! Actually, it would be depressing. Ecclesiastes would be more so, though.
You guys are all wrong, it laminations for sure. :P
@Ellie: Good job! That's awesome!!! :D
@Hat Lady: I feel the same way! I thought the test was super easy, but I was 93rd. I can blame it on the college classes I'm taking. The homework took up a lot of my time! :) @Everett: I didn't even think about James! That is such a fun little book. It would be great to do that one for Bible Bee!
I did way worse than I thought on the test! I was 98th. I agree with Everett, I think it will probably be James.
@Rachel: We did 1 Peter in 2011. I hope it's James or Philippians!
@Anna: I'll take a random guess here... 1 Peter maybe! :)
55th place. Better than I thought I did!
@Jessica: I know what you mean about not meeting very many people because you were with your family, because that's exactly what I did, too! I met one person from ST, and a few random people that I had never talked to before, but mostly my mom and I hung out (my mom is my only immediate family, besides grandparents). @Anna: Mom and I were just speculating about the locals book! We think Philippians would be a fun one to do, especially since there have been a lot of Philippians passages in Bible Bees past! What book would you want to do?
Whoops! This is actually Jordan on Eden's account!
@Anna: They just posted them!!!!!!!!!
@Rachel: It's really hard to choose a favorite part of the Bible Bee :). One of my favorite things was meeting a lot of the people that I know on ST and Quizlet. I also enjoyed the square dance. People kept on saying that it was so much fun, but I just thought that they just liked that sort of thing. But I ended up really enjoying it! The Junior's final round was fun because I could guess the answers to the questions and the final round was exciting, too. I liked the dessert reception, too, because I got to see everyone one last time. I know I said just about everything but I haven't talked about everything that I liked :). @Everyone: We just got an encourager that says that we should know the scores by the week's end (I'm not sure if "week's end" means Friday, Saturday, or Sunday)! @Hannah: I'm memorizing James! (I already know 41 verses from it because of Nationals, so it shouldn't be too hard). @Everyone: What do you think the book will be for locals next year?
@Rachel: I liked meeting new people. That was fun! And I loved how everyone was so encouraging. After the written round, when we walked down that hallway and everyone was clapping, I couldn't believe it! It made me feel good, knowing that everyone was proud of us no matter how good we actually did. I definitely wasn't expecting that!
@Rachel: one of my favorite parts was, like you, being around other teenagers and children who are excited and willing to study and memorize God's Word and strongly desire a relationship with Him. That I just don't get around most teenagers in my town. That's why I love Bible Bee. I also kept everyone at home updated on our trip through Facebook. Before we left everyone was really encouraging and supportive. They prayed over me before I left also, and talked about me so it was a little embarrassing, and I wasn't in a great mood, as my best friend was moving right then. But I definitely received love and support! So many people prayed for me and told me that I just needed to go and have a great time and do my best and it didn't matter how I did. They told me that just having the verses in my heart and knowing them and the Bible was reward enough. And the trip was just a great family time for my family. I actually didn't get to know many people because a lot of the time I was with my family. Another fun thing was the square dance!
@ Jordan, nice pics. Nice smile too.
The fellowship has to be my overall favorite part! Seeing old friends and meeting new ones is just priceless!
@Kelsey: I agree, and I can't wait either! Bible Bee is one of the big events I always look forward to.
@Rachel: I think the best thing was seeing so many other Christians who care about learning God's word and memorizing it, and everyone was so encouraging. :) I can't wait until next year. :)

@Rachel: I think my favorite part was the fellowship. I really liked being around other Christians, meeting new friends, and seeing friends from previous years.
@Everyone: What did you guys like best about nationals? I think my favorite part was being around other teenagers who desire to follow Christ and have a passion for seeking Him. I also loved the support. After preliminaries, I checked my phone and had texts from friends and family wanting to know how I did. Throughout the weekend, my family received multiple texts, calls, Facebook messages, and emails wanting to know how I did. :) Before I left, my church prayed over me to send me off. I mentioned that I was worried about my performance, and I was left with the words of my pastor, "Rachel, our only expectation of you is to go down there and love people." What a blessing that was to me! I pray you all received the same love and encouragement I did. So what did you guys enjoy the most? :)
@Jordan: cool! I didn't take any photos at Nationals. At all. I was in some, but I never take photos. I am not a good photographer. D:
hey everyone... If anyone's interested, I posted some pics from nationals on my blog... Okay, so some of them are just me, but you never know, you might be in some of the pics! ;)
anyway, here's the address: jordanstrang.blogspot.com
@N. Janae: That's a good idea!
@Hannah: Wow, so organized! Great idea! I'm hoping to memorize one "long" passage (15-20 verses) from each book of the Bible before locals. There may be a couple exceptions, because I can't choose just one from 1 Corinthians and I can't find any from Song of Solomon!
It seems so weird that it's over! The other day my sister found a Bible at our hotel and was happy because "now I can read Ephesians!" Whatever will I do with myself?
Yeah, I know, six months away! I have a Bible memory challenge I made for myself starting today and ending Dec. 31, then starting up a new Bible memory and reading challenge Jan. 1, ending that May 31, then starting BB again the next day!!!!!!!
Locals being six months away is a scary thought! I have so much stuff to do in the time being. :) That's crazy!!
Yikes, six months to get caught up in school! It's so weird not having to carry a bunch verses in a huge stack everywhere I go... I hope I DON'T get used to it!
Great! It's weird, locals is only six months away!
We chatted with the Bible Bee person and they said that the scores will probably be up by Friday.
@ Josh and N. Janae: I think they will post the scores and pics at the same time. They were going to post them on Dec. 1, but I don't think that worked out. They should be up by Wednesday, dad says. @ Jordan: Yep, I thought I saw you looking at me sorta like, "hey, I recognize you!!!!" :) I was way to shy to say hi... sorry. Maybe if Eden makes it next year, we can actually "meet" each other! LOL!
@Josh: I don't know when they will post the pics, but does anyone know if they post the scores from preliminaries? I've just been telling people that I scored somewhere between 16th and 120th! (That answer doesn't satisfy most people!)
Well that's really cool! :)
Looking forward to it. By the way when will Bible Bee have this years pix posted?
Yikes, I didn't even think about alligators! Definitely time to stock up on repellant! :) @Rachel: Yeah, they said it will be at the Disney Hilton in Orlando, Florida. Built in family vacation!!!
@Josh: Haha I got that repellant was a joke....but still! I didn't really think of alligators as being around there..
@Rachel, I don't think the alligators ever go far into the city, but my brother went there last month and he said that there were signs at all the lakes warning of alligators. You actually never know which lakes they are in because they migrate.
But in case no one realized, repellant was a joke.
@Hannah: Yep! I thought so!!! You should have said hi! I would have, but I was shuffling around with the stage and such so I never caught you after that!
Thay announced it after each of the finals. So I heard the announcement thrice. :)
@Josh: Did they announce that at the ending ceremony or something? I didn't hear anything about that. I left on Saturday about 11. Does that part really have alligators? I'm not a big fan of them...
It was very, very easy. It was about as easy as the locals test. @ Jordan: Did you realize that during the Celebration Ceremony, you were sitting right beside me? haha... I was too shy to say hi...
@NJ: Thanks! @Anna: It was easier than locals for one thing and I think it was an easier test overall... (I actually know why, but I shouldn't say online!) Hey... I saw you and meant to say hi but I think I missed it!
@Joe: I meant to say hi to you as well but the closest I got was asking you how to say your name!!! Did talk to your sister quite a bit though!
@Rachel, it is going to be in florida. I hear they have alligators (be sure to bring repellant)! :)
I agree! I thought the written test would be much harder. It was a nice surprise. :) @Nicole: Wait...it's going to be in Florida?
Although I didn't compete I still has fun at Nats (especially the water park!). Thx giving popped up. Time for Pa to get the old axe and pick out the biggest turkey, so much for survival of the fittest! :{)
@Anna: I was very, very surprised at the written test because of the level of difficulty. The test overall was the easiest test I've taken, although, I guess we probably think it was easy because the local test was very challenging.
@N. Janae: I hadn't thought about being in Florida in November. I just wish it wasn't at Disney World. @Everyone: What did y'all think about the written round? Almost everyone I talked to thought it was easy. @Jordan, Everett, and Joe: Congratulations!
@Hat Lady: I know what you mean about the oral round. They asked some really similar verses back-to-back, and I wasn't prepared for that! :P I'm convinced that we all tried our best, which is really all we can do, right? :)
Wow, Nationals was over so quickly! Is there anyone else who wants to make it to Nationals next year just so they can go to Florida?!? :) I was really excited about the new format for Finals. I even knew the answers to a couple of the Senior questions!!! @Jordan: Great job at semifinals! I'm surprised they didn't give you the Oratory Award! :)

@Rachel: This year they added the Bible knowledge questions. In previous years, it was just recitations of Bible verses. I really liked the new format because it was more engaging for the audience. :)
Yes! I like the reverse alphabetical order, because my last name starts with W. I was 2nd from last!
@Joe: What changed about the format this year? @Jordan: I'm glad it was awesome! I think I could use a few tips as to how to memorize all of it. :P That's okay! Since I saw you got to semifinals, I am sure it was a very busy time! I wasn't sure if people would recognize me...I wasn't sure how much I look like my picture!
It was a blast! Great people, competition, fun! (not to mention stress?) I think it was the best one yet, with the new format and such, and I really enjoyed meeting new people.
Nats to me was amazing, awesome, special, and a whole lot of other things!!! (I'm just hoping my younger sister makes it next year so I can come again... I'm coaching her now!)
@Rachel: I actually never got to introduce myself to you... I was so busy the whole time and I did see you a few times though!
I found that funny too! I liked it being that way....since both my first and last name are in the second half of the alphabet, I generally don't get to go anywhere close to first.... it was weird sitting just a few rows from the front! :)
It was great! I agree with Rachel, I want to study more next year! I didn't do as well on my oral round as I wish I had. I found it interesting how they went in reverse alphabetical order. I suppose it was nice, but it felt weird trying to find my seat in the written test room!
@HatLady: Thanks! I watched part of the semifinals, and I was very thankful I didn't get there. It was too stressful! I was tense just watching it. :) @Jordan: Yes, congratulations! That is awesome that you made it to semifinals. I really loved it. Since I had never even heard of the Bible Bee or SKF until this year, it was a totally new experience for me. I enjoyed being there and am excited for next year (assuming I qualify)! I think going this year was motivation to study and memorize more next year!
@everyone: What did you think of Nats?;)
Thanks, Louise! It was a great experience and I actually had a lot of fun doing it!
Thanks, Louise! It was a great experience and I actually had a lot of fun doing it!
Congratulations to everyone who competed!
And to Jordan for making it to semifinals! If any of the rest of you did and I don't know it, congratulations to you to!
We're leaving tomorrow!!!!! I have a huge, big (can I say beautiful?) long flowing skirt that I will wear to the square dance. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it, but my dad has to say yes and he hasn't decided yet. I have a feeling he'll say yes, though. :) @ Jessica: No, you're lucky, you have to fly!!!! I'll be stuck in the car for 7 hours with a bunch of boys. :P Though I may study with my friend....
@N. Janae: I think that we just can't wear jeans during the actual competition.....I hope it is that way, at least! I don't really wear skirts, so I had to find some for the competition! I think whenever we aren't competing, we can wear whatever. :)
You mentioned that you are from Indiana as well...are you driving down today or tomorrow? My family is leaving today (we are from the northwest part of the state) and staying in Kentucky tonight!
@Hat Lady: Yikes, I hope jeans are allowed at the square dance on Friday night! I don't have any "long, flowing skirts" (at least, none that I can dance it!)
@kir: Yeah, it's on the family control panel. If you printed out the contest schedule, it might be helpful to write in the margins what you are expected to wear for each event. That's what my mom and I did! Hope it helps! :)
@Ellie: I agree completely. It is way too early! You're driving and getting there in one day? Lucky. We would not be able to get there in one day driving. We're in Oregon, so we're one of the farthest state away.
@kir: the dress code is in your family control panel. You go to it, then you click on "contestant family resources". It's in their somewhere.
@kir: The dress code is in your family control panel, but I could never find it. These are the main things they say: No jeans. On Thursday the contestants are asked to wear khakis. If you make it to semi-finals, then you wear khakis again. Saturday they ask the finalists to wear black pants/skirts, and the celebration dinner is semi-formal. The shirts for Thursday will be provided, and a polo for Thursday night opening ceremony and semi-finals, and if you make it to finals, they give you a white oxford shirt.
Does anyone know where I can find the dress code?
@Kelsey: Definitely not what!
@Ellie Borah and GermanCello: Aren't we all excited? :) Is anyone else freaking out or what? I can't believe how close nationals is! I'm so excited about being with so many bible bee-ers, though. :) It's so cool to see how many people actually care about and try to memorize God's word. I can't wait to see you all there! :)
YIKES, Jessica! WAY too early! Anyway, registration is Wednesday. We're actually not flying, we're driving. Our grandparents live about an hour away, so we're staying with them tomorrow night. We have to drive all day though. @GermanCello: We're excited too! Today was packing day.
We leave tonight to sleep in a hotel near the airport so we can keep our car there for free. We are so excited!
@Jessica: Our flight is about the same time as yours, I think.
I'm a Junior. Its my last year as a Junior. What division are you? You're leaving at eight? Like to go to the airport or your plane takes off at eight? Either way, you're lucky. We're leaving our house at about 4:30 and our plane takes off at 6:20. Its too early!
us too! We're getting up early adn leaving at eight. What division are you, Jessica?
@Ellie: yeah, some I just don't understand. Those are the ones I couldn't memorize. Well, if I had more time, I could memorize them, but my family and I are leaving tomorrow, early.
Wow, everyone, it's almost here! I can't wait to meet you all! Keep up the great work! biblebee-SR is right: we are all winners, no matter how the scores rank! PRESS ON!!!
@Delie: Thanks so much for sharing that! I can't wait to meet you!
My family and I are leaving tomorrow so this will probably be the last I talk to y'all on here. I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you! And remember that no matter how you do at Nationals you are still a winner! I look forward to meeting y'all!
Adam- I've got all my scriptures memorized, and I memorized the last one on Nov. 10. I hope all you have your scriptures memorized. I pray and hope that you all do well. I am having the most trouble on Acts 20:18-32 by swip-swapping verse 27 and 29
This morning we sung When I Survey The Wondrous Cross. Here's the first verse: When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died; my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride. This is what I want to be thinking about Thursday morning. I can't wait to see y'all then!
I caught on to the Greek words. I have two friends whose Greek names would be Charis and Elpis. Can anyone guess?
I eido a lot of them, but don't dianoa some.
@Jessica: I have a checkmark next to all of them on my list. I'm not sure how many I know word perfect, though. I guess don't really ginosko a lot of my verses :).
@Jessica: I have nearly all of them memorized on Scripture Typer, but that's not the same as memorizing them out loud.
@Ellie: Okay :) No...my name is Carissa. I know!!!!!!!!!! Nationals has come so fast this year!
@Jessica Dawes: Hey! Great to hear from you! Keep up all your great work!
My verses are going okay. I'm hoping by tomorrow to have all of them perfect. I have *almost* memorized all of them. :)
@Jessica: Nice to hear from you! That's great that you know almost all the verses!!! Congratulations! :) I have over 1/4 of them, which I know really well. I am trying to at least become familiar with the others before Preliminaries. My strategy wasn't very well thought out!
I've been on this group for a while, but never posted anything here, so, hi!
Does anyone have all the verses? Do you have them pretty good? I initially memorized all of them, but three of the long passages were so hard for me to really learn well, so I gave up on them. But I have almost all the rest pretty good.
We're third on the group rankings!
And about Nationals being in five days: :o :o :o :o :o!!!!
Me either! And you can just call me Ellie. What is your name? I don't think it's biblebee. ;)
@Ellie Borah: I know!!! I don't know where all the time went!
And thanks for welcoming me.
@Jordan: We'll miss you! Hope your studying goes well! See you in 5/6 days!
@Ellie: Welcome! :)
Welcome, Ellie! I only joined a few weeks ago.... this group is very welcoming, though! :)
Oh. Thanks. Maybe they took it off already.
The 2 Thessalonians passage is fixed, but I didn't see Psalm 16:9-10--only Psalm 16:9. But thanks for pointing out mistakes!
And yes, it's okay to join this late!
Yikes. Not meaning to criticize whoever put the BB verses on here, but 2 Thessalonians something, verses 12 and 13, is missing verse 11, and Psalm 16:9-10 shouldn't have verse 10. I had problems with that.
It's okay if I join this late, right?
I would hate that! I so want to make it next year, now that I know what I should and shouldn't do, and now that I know what way of memorizing suits me best. I still have a lot to learn about the contest itself, though.
Is anyone with the app having trouble "syncing" it with ST? My family was without Internet for over a week and when we got it back yesterday my account wouldn't sync. My sister was able to sync her account with ST. My ranking says that I'm #1000 place, but I have enough verses to be in the top 500. @Hat Lady: I wish that they had made our passages overlap because then my family probably would have memorized more as a family. @Bethany/GermanCello: It would be so sad if they didn't have the Bible Bee next year :(.
@Jordan: And hopefully your studying is going just as well!
Okay....... Time for me to leave. I'll miss you guys, but hey, I get to see you all in less than a week! Hope your studying is just awesome and you're all learning a ton in the se final few days! Keep on working hard and glorifying God everyone!
@bibebee-SR: Is your name Carissa? People keep talking to someone named Carissa, and I was assuming it was you.
Yep :)
@ Carissa: I knew, I was just being silly.
Haha! I forgot that your name was Hannah too!
@Proverbs 4:20-27: Jordan was talking to Hannah C.
Wait a minute Jordan...... I'm 9 years younger than you!
:) We're not doing the waterpark probably. :(
I never went to the water park either :)
@Jordan, I know, my picture looks so old. Jk... My birthday is in April so even though I graduate from hs this year I still get another year of Bible Bee! Yay!
@GermanCello: That's what my little sisters are excited about too! :)
The waterpark is great! I would suggest that if you have extra time before registration (or afterwards, even) it's a great way to relax a bit. Not that it's quiet or anything, but it gets your mind off the competition so that you aren't quite so stressed, or at least for me.
@Hannah: I didn't know you're a year younger than me!
@bethany: It's funny, I never went to the watermark last year!!! I was so busy being with friends that I never actually went!
I know! Sorry, guys. That's kind of depressing. On a lighter note, Nationals Registration day is in 9...8...7.. 6..5..4..3.21 days!!! My little brother is so excited about "the waterpark hotel". :)
@GermanCello: That would be so sad! I hope Bible Bee never has to stop!
@N. Janae: I made it to Nationals last year, but that was my first time. It's a little harder this year in my opinion because each age category has different passages, and they don't overlap, so I can't study with my sister, who also made it to Nationals, because she's a Junior.
If Bible Bee doesn't get those needed funds, are they going to stop? Because then that would make this the last year for everybody. I just wish I had all the money in the world to give to Bible Bee!
@Hat Lady we could make up our own traditions for people who get too old for. Bible Bee. :) I could start selling t-shirts that say Bible Bee Graduate or something... :) Next year is my last year
@Hat Lady: Yes, 2009 was the first year of the Bible Bee. And no, I wasn't even close to memorizing all those verses! It was overwhelming for me, too! I've done Bible Bee since the first summer, as well, but this year is the first year I have made it to Nationals! What about you?
@N. Janae: Was 2009 the very first year that Bible Bee started? If it was and you learned all those verses, then I'm proud of you! I've done Bible Bee since the first summer, but I didn't learn even half of the passages because it was too overwhelming for me.
I think they should arrange something special for all the last-year seniors, as a sort of consolation for not getting to come next year, and celebrating their hard work!
@Jordan: Aww, sad. Maybe you can volunteer! My mom and I did that a couple times because we wanted to go but I didn't qualify. Next year's my last year... I won't know what to do with myself after that because I've done it since 2009!
@Jordan: I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope Eden makes it next year!!!
@Hat Lady: Yeah... It is. It's kinda sad, but right now i'm trying to figure out a way to come to Nats next year since I won't be competing! I'm hoping Eden will make it and our whole family can come!
@Jordan: Oh, this is your last year, huh? Even though it's so hard, I'm going to be so sad when I turn 19! :(
So it's 1:30 am and I'm fixing a printer carriage jam... I want to do BB study right now! Haha... I think I've got it fixed now.......
@Carissa: Can you please type in a few more exclamation points????? :P
@Bethany: Yeah, I have mixed feelings too... specially because in just two weeks, Bible Bee ends for me. But hey, enjoy it while you can, right? ;)
Over all though, I'm just really looking forward to Nats!!!!!!!!
@GermonCello: I feel the exact same way!!!! :)
Right? Sometimes I feel like Nationals would slow down so that I'd have more time to study, that it would come faster because it's always such a blast, and can't wait till it's over to have a break! :D
@GermanCello: I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way!
Me too! Though with mixed feelings! The :? :) :'( kind of mixed feelings. Scared, Excited, Happy for a break, crying, I'll miss it. Weird, huh?
Nationals is in 12 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D =D =D =D
Yes it does, thanx N. Janae!
Hey! Do any of you know of a group in Wyoming that is memorizing the book of Proverbs?
@Proverbs_4:20-27: A webinar is when you log onto the internet and watch or listen to something live, like a class. I think usually webinars can include videos of whoever is talking or powerpoint slides. Its a little bit like Skype, but for many more people, and only the people who are in charge of it can talk or control the slides. Does that answer your question?? @biblebee-SR: I signed up for the Thursday one, and I can't wait!
I attended the one today.
Yeah, I attended one last night.
Thanks! @Carissa! Looking forward to seeing you guys!
I have not gone to one (I was babysitting last night), but my step-mom went to one! :)
I'm looking forward to meeting y'all in two weeks!!!! Just wondering...have any of you gone to the webinars yet?
Wow, biblebee-SR, thanks! I needed that encouragement!
@ Rachel Shields: I fixed the Hebrews 5 verse. It should be Hebrews 5:8-10 now.
Thanks, Biblebee-SR! I appreciate the encouragement. :)
I'm praying for y'all! Just continue studying and leave everything in God's hands. No matter how you do you are still a winner!
I'm definitely getting nervous and excited both! I still have quite a bit to memorize too. I'm definitely praying for everyone! It's so easy to get discouraged! Rachel, thank you for your encouragement! I love how everybody here is positive with each other. That's encouraging too! :)
@HannahC: I'm pretty sure that you can get cellos on a plane with no problem. (If the piano guys can do it with a metal cello, then I think you're fine!)
That's crazy! :) I focused more on the number of verses to memorize - I am thinking that I'll try to work on about 20-25 a day without getting legalistic about how much I get done! That's hard for me. :P It think it will get better though, and I hope to memorize all the long passages!
@Rachel: At the rate I'm going, I should be able to memorize 10 passages a day. That should get me done the week before Nationals, so I will have Monday-Wednesday of that week for intense review before the prelims! Hopefully I will be able to stick to my schedule, now that I've plastered it on Scripture Typer! :) How's your memorizing going?
@N. Janae: It's crazy! How much are you memorizing a day?
I am playing violin, Josh is playing viola, Bethany is playing cello, Matt is singing tenor, and Drew is singing soprano. Side note- anybody have tips on checking cellos on airplanes? We are kinda worried about that... Louise, congrats on making it for playing piano!! That is exciting. :)
Great reminder, Rachel! I feel excited, but I'm also super nervous because I don't have very many verses. I am really bumping up my study, and if I keep with this schedule, I will get them all memorized (barely). I will definitely pray for peace for you, as well as for all of us!
Thanks, Jordan! I know that God can do anything, but I really don't have a lot memorized. A few hundred verses? Yes, but I need to review a lot of them! It's so crazy and hectic. I need God's help with this!
Don't worry! You'll do fine! You should have seen me rushing around last year right before trying to finish everything up..... I was amazed that I scored where I did last year. It was all the Lord! I'll be praying for everyone on here for the next few weeks... We all need the Lord's strength to see us through.
Things are getting really close and I'm starting to get nervous! I'm praying for the peace that transcends all understanding! :) I need it!
Thanks for the encouragement, Rachel! Things are getting really close and I'm starting to get really excited!
Again, all, I just wanted to remind you to press forward. These words are for myself as well! It is so easy to be discouraged, but the Lord is saying to you: "Do not be discouraged. I am here for you, and I will continue to be with you." I have struggled with a lot of discouragement through this, but with the very first passage I memorized (1 Corinthians 15:50-58), God assured me that He would help me all the way through ("But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ)! Be blessed, friends! :)
@Jordan: I'm glad you get to do it, both piano and singing! This should be fun! :)
@Hat Lady: Well... I wasn't going to do any of it at first... but then my friend emailed some guys asking them to join bc they were so short on male voices... when I read the email, I decided I wanted to do piano but then he asked me to sing as well! I'm excited bc I haven't been able to sing with a choir since april and I absolutely love doing that! That's awesome that you'll being playing too!
@Jordan: I thought about doing it, but I am not! It's just a busy season of life for me. :) @Hat Lady: Thanks! I am praying for you (and all of us) also! What an encouragement!
@Jordan: I would have liked to audition for the choir but I'm too busy studying to practice for it. Well this week I'm going to perfect all my verses...and then the last 1 1/2 weeks I'll review them a lot!
@Rachel: I haven't got all of my passages done yet either! I'm not doing many subjects in school yet, but I'm still really busy! I'll definitely pray for you.
@Jordan: Yes, I'm in the orchestra too! I'm playing piano and singing both! Why and I not surprised that you made it? =D Actually, for quite a while I was afraid I wouldn't get the part because I knew you would audition! :)
So... Is anyone here playing in the orchestra or singing in the choir? It ends up I'm doing both! I'm playing piano for one of the pieces in he orchestra and then Im singing the rest of the performance... I didn't even audition to sing!!!
@hannah and Carissa, I thought the Gal 3:15-4:7 was hard till I recited it ne day for my Mom and was like, "did I get that right?' she said yeas and since then I haven't had a problem with it!!! I'm glad that you think Gen 15 is hard too, carissa...! jk I still couldn't get it quite straight when I did it before dinner this evening!
Also, I came up with a tip for remembering all those Genesis (and some Exodus) passages for the Seniors. I noticed that almost all of the Genesis passages and some Exodus passages fall into storylines of different Bible people: Noah, Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph. Thus, whenever I recite one of those verses, I remember the first few words, and then I remember who the passage is about, and that is usually enough to get me through the passage. Just a thought for others who are overwhelmed by the abundance of Pentateuch passages this year! :)
@N. Janae! Oh awesome! That's so neat. :D It is encouraging to hear that I am not the only one who hasn't memorized all of these!! We can encourage each other. :) I have to memorize about 45 a week if I want to get them all done!
@Rachel: I used to do co-ops every semester. This is the first year I don't get to do one, because of the college classes I'm taking. I haven't really run into any hard verses, but I keep forgetting a couple of phrases on 1 Corinthians 12:7-27. I just have to remember to think about what I'm about to say, not just go on autopilot! I am behind in memorizing, too. I will have to memorize 70 passages a week in order to catch up! I will definitely pray for you. I know how stressful it can get!
I've spent like an hour on it, but I've only memorized like 1/4 of it.
@GermanCello and Everett: Daniel 9:1-19 may be my hardest, but I'm not working on it very hard. I have "memorized" it but I'm just hoping they don't call it out :). If they do I'll probably just pass it, since I'm going to get a zero on it anyway!
@Jordan: My hardest passages are Gen. 15:1-21 and Galatians 3:15-4:7. Also I keep getting the resurrection passages confused. I work on Matthew 28 till I get it perfect then I work on John 20 till I get it perfect and then I go back to quote Matthew 28 and I mess it all up! :( It's so annoying! :(
@everett any method that I ever try for memorizing/reviewing Daniel 9:1-19 takes so long! :'(
@Anna M. and Jordan: Thanks! I am technologically challenged. :P I still haven't figured out how to do much of anything on here! :)
My hardest passage (that I have gotten to) is 1 Corinthians 12:7-27. Weird, huh? I know what it is about, it's just harder for me to memorize. Honestly, I am really behind on my verses. The first month I did really well, and then last month, well, not so much... I would appreciate if you guys would pray for me about that! I have a lot to memorize! I just have an extremely busy schedule, and it's hard to find time to work on memorizing sometimes. When I see that you all have so much done, it makes me feel even worse! I'm just going to memorize as much as I can and not worry about the rest. Even if I get last place at Nationals (which isn't very improbable), I'm happy that I got to Nationals in the first place, especially since I have never done the Bible Bee before. :)
My hardest is definitely Galatians 3:15-4:7 because it was one of my last nes to memorize :) I have a few that are almost as hard, too. Those long ones can be tough!
I haven't gotten to most of my long passages yet, I'm a little behind, but I'm really dreading Acts 13:16-41! Once I've learned the long passages I remember them really well, but I really don't like the initial memorizing!
Daniel 9:1-19 is my hardest passage. I just can't memorize it for some reason.
@Rachel: If you click on the collection (under the group name), there should be a pencil next to each passage. When you click on the pencil you will be able to edit the verse (you may need to click "Import Scripture" once you have changed the reference). I don't think it counts the passage on the group, since it's a different reference. @Jordan: Are you just asking the Seniors, or everyone? For me it's been Numbers 16:20-35. It's not a very long passage but I can't remember when to say earth and when to say ground, and it kind of repeats itself but not exactly (just repeating the idea and rewording it), and it just hard!
@Rachel: I checked and it's Heb 5:8-10 for KJV... I've heard that there's some way to change the text if there's an error like that, but don't ask me how!!! I still know how to do hardly anything on here!!! (Course, I've never actually sat down to learn Scripture typer!)
All these extroverted introverts..... You guys are starting to make me feel left out being the only full time extrovert (at least that what it sounds like!!!) alright... I'm just kidding! (something I do a lot!) So I have an interesting question.... What is the HARDEST long passage for you? ( i mean the ones that are all around 20 or so verses) For me, it's that Gen 15:1-21. ARGH! I've gone through it a ton of times and I still get tripped up! It makes Acts 13:16-41 easy! ....Well, not exactly! ;)
Did anyone else notice that Scripture Typer only has Hebrews 5:9-10 instead of verses 8-10 for the senior division? That's the way it is for ESV, at least.
@N. Janae: Do you do one too? I absolutely love it!
@Biblebee-SR: Your sister sounds like me! I'm shy but I really enjoy social things like the Bible Bee!
@Rachel: Co-ops are so fun! That's neat that you're doing "public school" and a homeschool co-op! @biblebee-SR: That's great. I hope I will too! :)
@Jordan: Bethany is very extrovert...though not quite so much as you :) It's hard for her to go up in the first place to meet people but other than that she is very socialize. I can see that about your family :)
@N. Janae: Yup!! Through Bible Bee I have found some many friends that I correspond with :)
I consider my schooling to be home-school as well, but the technical term is public school (blah). I do a home-school co-op too, which is kind of like a mini school! :) @Jordan: Nice! I love music. Math isn't really hard, but I don't like it very much. It bores me. Schoolwork doesn't challenge me enough; it seems like busywork that consumes so much time. Intense work like that is great! :D Calculus does not interest me either. I agree - music should take precedence! :D I was just practicing guitar!
@Rachel: I know someone else who has done school online like you are! I consider it homeschooled! :) I'm homeschooled too, but I'm taking a couple classes at a local Christian college, so my schedule isn't as flexible as I'm used to! @biblebee-SR: That's so cool! I love the way Bible Bee unites us from all over the nation! I'm also an introvert, but with occasional extrovert tendencies! The Bible Bee might be one of the few times I come out of my shell! :)
@Rachel: Yeah... I'm homeschooled! So it's nice to be able to do BB and really focus on it. After Nats though, I'm going to be doing some intense physics! And then I'm thinking I might just CLEP out of math rather than do a whole other textbook before I graduate next spring. I've gone through most higher mathematics except for Calc 1 & 2 which I really have no interest in doing anyways! Now music... that's something that's more important!!! ;)
I'm kind of unsure about whether or not I want it to be here right now! I was reading through the messages on here, looking for study tips, and it seems that most of you are home-schooled. Is that so? It's so nice that you are able to switch your schedules around to accommodate studying for the Bible Bee! I am technically in public school, but I don't consider it that. I do public school online through the state, and I therefore cannot switch my schedule around. With an intense schedule, including college-level English, it's a lot of work to maintain a balance! It's a very busy time!
Last week I was about ready for it to be over because of all the stuff I've been doing and some of those really hard verses... but this week I feel awesome about it! More than anything, I'm simply looking forward to it!!!
@Carrisa, Wow! I knew you were introverted, but I didn't know that very, very, very was on the front!!! That's funny cause Bethany seems like a total extrovert!! Everyone calls the entire Strang family extroverts... we're crazy, laugh a lot, and and talk all the time (although I'm the worst offender of talking, I don't care!!!)
@Rachel: I'm not sure, but I think I may have heard that the dress code would be on your family control panel. Nationals is so close!!! Is anyone else looking forward to having it over with? I am really enjoying it, but sometimes I feel ready for it to be done.
@Hat Lady: Thanks so much! :)
@Rachel and Joy: I'm kind of like you with the whole introvert/extrovert thing! =D
@Rachel: For last year, this was the general dress code: on Thursday you wear khaki pants/skirt with your Bible Bee shirt you bring. The next day you wear the same thing, but they give you another shirt to wear, and on Saturday you wear black pants or skirt with a Bible Bee polo shirt that they give you. I haven't been able to find the dress code for this year, so I am assuming that it's the same as it was last year.
@Joy: Thanks! I generally just wear jeans and stuff like that so I wanted to make sure that I get clothes that they approve of! Thanks! @Delie: What a great reminder! Thank you for the encouragement! :)
@Jordan: An extrovert heaven??? :) Well, I'm very very very introvert and I still have so much fun there...even if it is just listening to other people talking :)
@N. Janae: I'm from MO :)
This morning I was reading Matthew 22 and was challenged by verse 29; I wanted to share it with all of you. "But Jesus answered them, 'You are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God.' " It is easy to focus on an academic study of the Scriptures without stepping back to look at the amazing power of God. We need to be studying for something greater than a contest.
BTW, you can look at the BB's online photo gallery to see what it will look like. The bee is at the same location as last year, so things should be pretty similar.
@Rachel: I can't wait to meet another people-loving introvert! We tend to be in the minority ;). About the dress code...I think girls can wear slacks during any part of the Bee. I have never qualified for Nationals before, but my family has gone to it for the past two years, and I remember seeing young women in pants during all parts of the completion (i.e., preliminaries, opening ceremony, semi-finals, and finals). Dark colored or khaki slacks for Thursday, khaki for Thursday night and Friday (if you qualify for semi-finals; otherwise wear whatever you want to), and black for Saturday (again, only if you are on-stage). Basically, pants are fine, just no blue jeans during the competition. I hope this helps!
@Jordan: great! I kind of ride the line between introvert and extravert. I am an introvert who loves social interaction.
Does anyone know what the dress code is for the Bible Bee? Specifically, are girls required to wear skirts for all activities with the Bible Bee, or just for the actual competition?
For tad introverts??? Ammm... I'm not sure...! haha! JK... Yeah, there's introverts there too! ;)
Um....what does this make Nationals for those who are just a tad introverted? D:
@hannah: Thanks for the consolation! It helpful to know that people feel sorry for us seniors!!!! ;) Okay, just kidding!!!
@N. Janae: Oh yeah!!! Can't wait to not only meet a bunch of people, but also to see all the friends I made last year!!! Nats is extrovert heaven!!! ;)
@Everyone: Nope... Not just Oregonians! I think I know most of the people in this group either from last year's bee or the internet... and there's people from several different states.
@Rachel: Well, in the end, that's the best mindset to have... Doing your best and leaving the rest up to God! Yeah... competition is stiff at the national level... but God always gets the glory! There really is some amazing young people who do this thing!
@Rachel: Thanks! I feel the exact same way! @everyone: I can't wait to meet you all at Nationals! :)
@N. Janae: Awesome! I didn't see anyone else from my state on the list, so it's nice to know that there are others! :)
Hey, I was checking out your group and saw your discussion that all are welcome, not just those in Oregon. I hope it's okay for me to join your group at sort of the last minute like this! @Rachel: I'm from Indiana too!
I'm from Tennessee, but I think that most of the people in this group are from Oregon since their Bee had a LOT of people who made it to Nationals. But I think this group is for all national qualifiers :).
@Rachel: I have heard that it does help to study before bed too, but I don't usually have time to study before bed. Anyway, last year was my first year at Nationals, but I've done the summer competition since it was first started in what, 2009, I think? It gets easier the more you do it, so Nationals this year is much less intimidating than it was last year.
I also appreciate your mindset! I tried to think that way both last year and this year, but it is difficult to remember when the competition is so tough!
No, I don't think so, Rachel. I'm from Ohio, I just think that the person who made it is in Oregon. @ Jordan: I agree! I looked at your passages to know what you were talking about - I feel sooooo sorry for you guys! ;) Jk
And is this group just people from Oregon? I'm from Indiana. I honestly have no idea how I even got in this group anyways....
Well, I can't say I'm really going to be that competitive with this. I'm going into this with the mindset that if God wants me to win or get to the semi-finals or whatever, I will. I don't have time for intense study because I am very active. I do public school online and I am very involved in a lot of activities! It's great, but I don't have much time for studying for the Bible Bee. Yeah I am excited to see what it is like! I have never really done a competition like this one before....as long as God gets the glory, the outcome is whatever! :)
No problem, Rachel! The absolute best thing you can do to help study for BBis ask questions... Especially if you're interested in being really competitive. (which is me!;) This is my second (and last) year of BB but I still find the best people I can and ask them all kinds of questions to understand how to work and study better! So if it's your first year... You're in for a surprise! You're going to LOVE Nats!
@Jordan: Thanks! I too have found that reviewing/memorizing right before I go to bed helps me remember them better. I think it is because it is the last real thought the brain has, and so the brain dwells on that. I know it is something like that anyways! I use ESV, so it isn't quite as difficult to know which word to use ("spake" isn't one I have come across there!). Genesis and Exodus...I wish I had the diligence of a devout Muslim! Thanks for the advice! This is my first year doing the Bible Bee at all (local and national), so I really have no idea how this is set up. Thanks!
@Rachel: Okay.. here's my Genesis and Exodus deal... First off, those are HARD books to memorize. It's right up there with Psalm 119 for me! (all you second year seniors who were at Nats last year know what I mean!)
So basically, I write down one to three words or so at the top of the card next to the reference... Since I use KJV, it usually ends up being stuff like spoke, said, spake or something like that, and then some other words that really help me to remember what the passage is about.
After that, I drill... and drill... and drill... and you get the picture! ;) When it all comes down to it, the best thing you can do to remember which one is which is to know the similarities between the passages and also know how to differentiate between them by their subjects.
Also, I find that reviewing the really hard ones directly before I go to bed has a good effect on remembering them better... Sounds weird, but it works for me! ;)
And last of all, I'm trying to incorporate some ST for reinforcing but I'm not sure how well it's going to work bc I always learn them from the card.
@hannah: You guys are so lucky! ;) jk
One thing that helps is to study the passage. When someone calls it out to you then you may remember it faster because you learned something about it. I still have a lot of trouble remembering the references, but this has helped.
I only have 1 Genesis passage (Which I already memorized) and 0 Exodus ones. The main ones I get stuck on are the Proverbs passages. I have like a gazillion.
@BibleBeeDogs: I agree with Hat Lady. That sounds like a great idea! I might have to try that! :)
@BibleBeeDogs: That's a great idea! I might have to do that!
I created flash card sheets folded down the long side with the verse reference on one side and the first four words of the verse, who is speaking to who, and a summary of the verse on the other side. It has really helped with remembering which Genesis verse is which--at least for the ones which I actually seriously studied.
Same here (about the Genesis and Exodus passages). If anyone has any ideas on how to memorize--and keep memorized--especially for the Gen and Exo ones, I would love to hear/read them!
@Jordan: You want to share your tips with the rest of us? Generally Genesis and Exodus are not my favorite books to memorize from, although I do like to read from them. :) I (although I cannot speak for the others) know that I would love to have a more efficient way to work on those!
Hmmm... Well, it looks like I'm not leaving after all... I thought of a good way to incorporate some review of all those ridiculously hard Genesis and Exodus passages on here... So we'll see how things go!
Yes! We're up to #4 (on the group rankings)!
????? We only received the first email from BB and that's it! ???????
Thank you so much Rachel! It was really encouraging to hear (oops - I mean read) that! I just started Ephesians over - yes, you read right - completely over, starting with chapter 1! I made a sechdule yesterday but I'm ALREADY behind on it. :( :( And I'm WAY behind on my verses as well. :( :(
@Joy: Yeah, I did see it! It was so encouraging to know they were willing to do that!
@Rachel: Thank you for your sweet words of encouragement! I am so thankful for my bible bee family in Christ. @All: Did you read the national email for this week? A Knoxville, TN church is praying for all of the contestant families individually! It is such a blessing to me to know that people are lifting us up in prayer to God. An added blessing is that I have friends who worship there often. It's good to know that they will be praying. P.S. I look forward to seeing you all in LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS!!!
@Rachel: Thank you so much!! That is so encouraging! I'll be praying for you as well!!
Wow, thanks Rachel! How encouraging. I really needed to hear that! :)
Hey all! I just wanted to let you know I am praying for you! Like Psalm 119 says, hiding God's Word in our hearts is so important! When you seek Him, He will bless you. There is no doubt about that. I can personally testify to His goodness through memorization over the past several years I've memorized verses! As Paul wrote, "Let us press on toward the goal to win the prize to which Christ has called us heavenward!" I just wanted to remind you all of the real reason we are in this competition - to grow in our relationships with God! Blessings to you! :)
Okay, thank you BibleBeeDogs. Bye Jordan! @All: We are #5 on the rankings!!!! Let's push up farther!
Hey everybody... Just wanted to let you all know that I'm pretty much leaving ST for good until Nats... Probably won't be on here at all till after that. (Not that I've actually done anything on here lately!) Anyway, keep studying hard and glorifying God, everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing you all VERY soon!
(In fact, I'm going to make a list of everyone I need to either meet or spend some time with!... Yeah, I'm a total extrovert!;)
Yesterday, I planned our family's meals for Nationals. I can't believe it's so soon!
That was a good suggestion! All the summer verses should be added now.
I think that would be good, too. I still review my local verses on Scripture Typer but I'm not quite as eager to review them because it doesn't help my ranking on here!
I have a suggestion: Since we're suppossed to be reviewing our Summer verses too, could you add those? I'd be a whole lot more help getting the group higher on the rankings if you added the Summer verses!
Thanks! I still didn't see it, and when I tried adding it it only showed my personal collections and not group collections. It probably doesn't want me to mess with the collections others use which I understand. But instead I just deleted the Primary ESV from my account and add Primary KJV in the English Standard Version which worked fine. :) Thanks!
Hannah: I checked the Primary ESV list, and 1 John 2:21-25 was on there. . . You can check again, and if it still doesn't show up, you should be able to add it. On the "My Verses" page, under "My Memory Verses" (right column), click on "Add or Import Verses". Then type in the verse reference, select your Bible version, and click "Import Verse Text". Then select the "Collections" box and Primary ESV should be there. Click on that and then click "Save Scripture". It should add it to your verse list.
Hope it works okay!
In Primary ESV, I do not see 1 John 2:21-25 anywhere.... can someone add it? Thanks!
Okay, thanks for the info!
Yes, it does. But you have to "sync" it with ScriptureTyper.com. I'm not sure how long you can wait before syncing it, though. The app is nice and there is extra things you can do like flashcards (if you get it right you click "I Got It") or you can draw a picture of what the passage means to you. I prefer doing it without the app, but that's probably because it's easier to type on the laptop.
For everyone who has the Scripture Typer app: Does it work without an internet connection? I'm thinking about buying the app and was wondering if I can do it in the car. Thanks
@BBLover: Yes, I did. Thank you! :)
Soo... you made Nats your first year even doing BB? Good job!
@Joe: That does clarify things up a bit, thank you! :) As I said, this is my first year with the Bible Bee, but it still sounds like things are changing a little!
@Jordan: Yup, the email made it a lot more clear!!
So apparently, there's going to be a stylus or something! The email that just came from SKF clarified things a lot for me!!!
And if you're not, then everything is the same as last year (the same as locals).
Does that answer your question? :)
@Rachel: If you're referring to the final challenge round, which we've been discussing, this year, for the top five contestants that prevail after semi-finals, there will be a new style of on-stage testing. There will be 2 rounds of oral verse recitations, without sudden elimination elements. Instead, the judges will keep score. Also, those who are contestants at finals will be using iPads to answer bible knowledge questions for 4 rounds.
I'm new to the Nationals. This was my first year doing the Bible Bee, and I have heard that they have made a lot of changes. How exactly will this be set up?
@biblebee-SR: Jeapordy is a trivial trivia game show. They write the answers and the contestants have to answer with the correct question using an iPad. Use caution and wisdom if you watch any--I recommend kid's week on YouTube, as the topics are not as worldly.
@Joy: I don't know what "jeopardy" is... Disqualified for misspelling a word?!?!?!?!?!?! I hope they don't do that in Finals!
@Joe: Okay :)
@Jordan: No? I guess finger writing shouldn't be too bad.
@biblebee-SR - It's actually quite easy. It's maybe...like finger paint? :D But seriously, it will be quite easy to get used to.
@biblebee-SR: I'm not a gadget person either, but the iPad is really not to bad (I'm using one now, as a matter of fact :D ). Hey, if you make it to finals you could practice on it!
I also suggest that you watch a you tube clip from jeopardy-- they use iPads on it. One person was disqualified because they misspelled "emancipation". I guess we should make sure that we can correctly spell our Greek words.
I think they do make styluses for iPads. I don't know how it works, though :)
@Jordan: I don't know...I'm not a gadget person...
I don't know if anyone uses Senior NKJV, but I just discovered that there was a mistake--Isaiah 53:8-10 should be Isaiah 63:8-10.
@joe: well do they even make a stylus for iPad? As far as I know, iDevices are controlled by the heat from the finger.
@Carissa you'd like the iPad!!! Trust me!
@Hannah: not a bad idea... Anyone have an extra few hundred sitting around that they don't want??? ;)
@Joe: Thanks for the suggestions :) I would ask someone to let me use one but only problem is that I don't know who has one...
Hey this is a good excuse for all of us getting iPads, right? ;)
This is my first year at Nationals so I don't know whether to like or dislike the changes.
@biblebee-SR: I'm thinking they might let you use an electronic pen, so maybe it's a bit like writing on paper....but it might be an idea to ask someone you know to let you at least try one.
I don't really like the changes at all! I've never even touched an iPad before. In fact, the only time I've ever used an Apple thingy is the iPhone for it's camera. Even though I don't like talking in front of people that would be SO much better then having to use an iPad to answer questions!
@Joe: I thought the same thing!
Yeah... well, I like the idea of using the iPad bc I'm a tech nut and I LOVE apple and iPad!!!! But I'm also good at talking on stage, so I would probably have liked that better!
It seems like it will go fast, but I'm still not quite sure how it's going to work. It scares me a little bit to think about the new format with writing on an ipad, but I would be very, very, shocked if I made it any way. I've already been told that I'm not going to make it to finals because I'm talking too much in the car :).
Is it just me, or does it seem like 2 rounds of verses and 4 questions will go by a bit fast?
It sounds like we're writing our answers, because it says that you get zero points if it's illegible. Anyway, I don't know whether I like it or not. I guess I'll find out when we're there!
@Everyone: What's your thoughts on the new final challenge round format?
I think I like it, but if I'm end up in finals, I sure hope I don't have to type paragraphs on an iPad cause I'm not very good at typing on things like that!
@joy: As far as I know, the deadline is for your pic to be included in the program... However, they also do a raffle after that deadline so I'm not sure if you have to complete that too... I always have, but then I didn't win the raffle anyway!!! ;)
Does anyone know if I am supposed to have my entire profile completed by the deadline? Is my picture sufficient, or should I write why I love the Bee, etc.?
Yeah... It normally takes a little while for the page to refresh... Or you could clear your cache of cookies.... But you've already got it up there! ;)
Actually, I'm surprised how few people have their pics up this year (at least in seniors) there's only a few days left before the deadline and there was way more last year.
@Anna: I had trouble at first but then I realized I wasn't doing it right.
Never mind. My sister got it on there.
Is anyone having trouble uploading their picture and profile to the National Bible Bee page (not Scripture Typer)?
I tried several times yesterday but I couldn't get it.
@BibleBeeDogs: Actually...the mistakes aren't with these verses on this group but on the other ones on the Bible Bee page (if that makes sense).
I actually added all of mine myself. When I was trying to get the National verses, they weren't loaded on here yet, so I just entered them all in. I had to re-add them for this group though.

@bible bee: I didn't add these; actually, I started to but did not know an easier way than one verse at a time, so I gave it up. I'm very thankful to whoever started this group and put all the verses on here. Thanks for the tip on how to put verses on....maybe next year ;)
Joy, did you painstakingly add all those verses yourself??? Next year, if you make this group again, an easier way to go is to click on the bible bee logo at the top corner of the screen, then add all those collections, then add those to the group the same way you did when you had added them. (the way I noticed that you did this is because in one of the verses, you spelled "through" like "thru", and the collection the Scripture Typer admin added spelled it "through".
@biblebee-SR: If you could kindly point them out, we would be glad to fix them for you (unless you already fixed them!)
@Rainbow: Probably ST made a mistake. There are several mistakes on the senior verses...
@Rainbow: Thanks for pointing that out. If you find anything else wrong you can always edit the verse by clicking on the green pencil.
@Rainbow: They probably made a mistake on Scripture Typer. The Bible Bee card says Psalm 16:9. ;)
is the abbreviation for Primary PY or PR? Oh no Jordan!!! Same here, Anna! But I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
Isn't the Psalm 16:9-10 passage in the Junior verses supposed to be Psalm 16:9?
@Anna: Yeah... well it's especially bad for me bc in less than 2 months, it'll be the end of BB for life! (My last year... :()
Okay. I know who you are then :)
@Everett: No, we don't live in California. We live in Oregon.
Two months from now it will all be over (for the most part)!!!
Actually, I should be putting a sad face instead of exclamation marks.
@Kir: I would suggest that you really understand what Ephesians means. Using a commentary (like the one that BibleBeeDogs uses) is very useful. Also, look for cross-references in the memory passages. Some of them will be really hard to find though.
(Bible Bee Dog #1)--I would suggest really understanding key themes and what Ephesians is about, especially in words other than exactly what Ephesians says. I have been reading John MacArthur's commentary on Ephesians. (Note: I have never made it to the National level before {Bible Bee Dog #2 has}, but those are suggestions I learned from other veterans and also from summer's test. Hope it's helpful to you.

Other than learning Greek key words, what should I be doing to study Ephesians? Are there likely going to be a lot of questions on cross-references? What are some study strategies you would suggest?
My mom says I should probably only memorize half of the verses, so I don't get too overwhelmed, but the ones I know, to know them well. Same here, Anna! I need to remember it's NOT THE CONTEST! It's to get closer to God. "Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me."
Thank you, Bible Bee Dogs #2. I need to remember that it's not about the contest. I need to memorize God's word "that I might not sin against you." (I hope I'm not messing up any of the juniors with my translation). "Let us press on to know the LORD!"
@Anna: I would definitely encourage you to memorize all the verses. I memorize two more-than-one-card passages each week and the rest of the time I focus on the passages that take up only one card, since you most likely aren't going to be asked passages that take up more than one card in the oral round. But I do plan on memorizing all of them.
(By the way, this is Bible Bee Dog #2. My older sister and I share this profile. We are both Seniors and we both qualified for nationals.)
I'm excited about Nats! And the MV meeting, and all that. And my birthday, which happens to be on that thursday.
This year, I'm cutting down my study time to do more schoolwork. @Jordan, okay
@Anna: IKR!!! Last year I had to (sorta) keep up with Algebra 2 during BB... *that* was hard!!! Thankfully though, I didn't have to start Pre Calc till after Nats!
@Everret: Well... teaching doesn't really appeal to me that much cause so many people aren't dedicated to their instrument... I LOVE performing and I'd love to do it full time, but I'm not sure if that's what God has for me. So I'm working on all the aspects: Composition, performing, Recording, writing lyrics..... Ya know! ;)
oh no, everett!
I like piano sorta, I definetly DON'T want it for a career, though.
I know, Anna, schooll can be pretty hard to balance with BB! :P But for me, it's pretty easy.
@Jordan: Are you going to teach or preform?
School can be hard to balance with the Bible Bee (especially when you're doing Algebra:). I was also wondering if I should try to memorize all my verses. So far, I'm on track but I don't have much time for studying Ephesians. Since it's easier to guess right on the test than in the oral round, that's how I've been spending most of my free time. What ever y'all tell me I'll probably just keep on trying to memorize them all :). I was just wondering.
@Joy: Well, for me, music is a bit more of something I'd like to have as a career... so I always have to keep practicing!
@Everett: Your mom and I should get together.... I think we'd get along famously!

Yeah, music can really interfere with Bible Bee. (Especially since my mom is majored in piano and makes me practice a more than I want!)
Yeah, I really wish I wasn't taking piano lessons... but we already paid. :( I think the school subject that takes up most of my time that I could be using for studying is science and history.
About school...I think the hardest part about studying for the NBB is studying biology (just kidding...sort of). @Jordan: I've decided not to take piano and violin until after nats. Music and Bible study, two things I really enjoy, are hard to balance and still do well on both.
Wow.... Just wow! Haha J/k
Oh, ok Jordan. Just making sure I didn't have to contact the BB headquarters and tell on you. :D (I wouldn't do that anyway. :D)
@Hannah: IK... I've read that, but basically, BB is a huge part of school for me and I'll be starting physics and econ really soon... So yeah, I'll be doing school! Plus, this is kinda what my mom has me do for the most part during the fall

Okay. I've been able to fit in a decent amount of school time, but I do have to sacrifice some studying time.
Not very bad Everett. Especially today, I was sick and didn't have any school to do. (i'm homeschooled.)
Jordan: Did you know, that's not allowed? The rules say, normal school schedule must not be changed because of Nationals....... Next year, we should persuade Mom to, even before we find out if we qualify, decide no school until after November. Hehe. Wouldn't that be nice!
@Everret: Not too bad.. but BB tales precedence for me! ::whispers:: I haven't started school yet! LOL! But then I'm almost done anyway! I'll power my school work after Nov!
Now piano and BB... well, that's a different subject!
Yeah, it is difficult sometimes. I'm home-schooled, so that makes it a little easier. I scheduled in time to work on verses in the morning, and then I do my study after I'm done with my other things. Then if I don't have anything else I need to do in the evenings, I can always work some more. I went to Nationals last year, and even though I have more verses to learn this year, it feels easier because I'm more organized.
And about the key words. I haven't looked up the Greek yet, but considering how many passages the seniors have from Proverbs (I'm not sure about juniors and primaries) one of mine from chapter one is wisdom, even though it's only mentioned once.
Is it hard for everyone to balance Bible Bee with school?
Your welcome. thanks for your words, too. I feel way too overwhelmed this is my first year at Nats and I feel way too overwhelmed. I just found out today that I have 25 passages down, though, and many more that I am very familiar with. *sigh of relief* What I do, so I know which verses to review and which to memorize, I put a mark on each verse card (a red heart stamp if its memorized, nothing if it isn't) and then I put the memorized ones into other categories (blue heart if I know both sides of card, tall, purple heart if it needs two or more cards and leave the others I don't know both sides on and that don't need two or more cards just with the red heart.) I am enjoying studying though, well sorta. I'm glad I'm learning so much! But it's sooooo much, even if I am a Primary, I have 450 verses to memorize, just glad Olivia Davis (who won in the Primaries 3 times in a row) is in the Juniors now.
Thank you for the words. Here are some of mine: redemption (629), (God is) blessed (2128), (anyone is) blessed (2127), will (2307)and glory (1391). I would recommend looking up words like love and know (that we had from the summer) to see which one it is. One thing that I noticed is that (usually) the Greek word for saint and holy (40) are the same. I hope y'all are enjoying studying and not feeling to overwhelmed.
I have been using http://www.olivetree.com/bible/index.php for Greek word study. You can change the parallel to Strong's.
Good idea Anna M.! My Greek words for chapter 1 were purpose, inheritance, and something else I can't remember. Chapter 2 was grace, peace, and flesh. I haven't gotten to chapter 3.
@Kir: I was only there last year, and there was very few questions from 2 Tim... But I would still encourage you to continue studying 1 John because only 1 or 2 questions on the WT can change you placing at Nats...
This is my first year qualifying for nationals, and I have a question for you veterans. On the written test, how much emphasis is usually placed on the study book from the summer?
Thank you to everyone for your helpful tips and your encouragement. I agree that memorizing the studied book of the Bible (Ephesians in this case) is very helpful. There is a Scripture Typer group for anyone interested. Also, I recommend reading as much of the Bible as you can, even if you don't think it relates to Ephesians. You never know where you'll find a cross reference and some of the written test questions are on general Bible knowledge.

Ok
I meant to add at the end that we could put our word(s) on here. I'm going to start proof reading my messages before I post them :).
Oops! I'm so sorry I didn't explain what I meant by having a "Greek Word Potluck." What I meant was that we could all put a Greek word (that we considered to be a key word), it's English word, Strong's number, and maybe a shortened definition.
That's your own personal choice. I'm just going to stick with the memory passages (from all divisions).
I'm not exactly sure how to go about studying cross references. Would it be better just to stick with the memory verses?
What exactly is the "Greek Word Potluck"? I personally create titles and choose key verses in the beginning. This is just part of getting an overview of Ephesians. Later, you can go back and refine them. I don't think that it's a waste of time because it helps you know what is your own perspective about the book (chapter).
We don't have to this yet, but one of my sisters (I don't remember which) suggested having a "Greek Word Potluck."
Some time later I'll post some. I've been making a list of English words that I want to look up in Greek. I have been wondering how I know that I am choosing the right key verses and titles. Should I even try to create my own titles, or is it a waste of time?
If you have a good memory, I guess it would benefit to know a large amount of Greek words. If you don't, I wouldn't recommend studying too much Greek. I have over studied a lot on this part.
It might be helpful to make a list of all the Greek words in each chapter of Ephesians, even if they aren't key words.
1. You obviously have experienced how hard the test is. Studying logic and test taking tips will help a lot more than you expect.
2. Know Ephesians inside and out. You must know the content of Ephesians completely, thoroughly, and quickly. The easiest way to do this is to memorize the book.
3. If you haven't noticed already, most (if not all!) of the memory passages are cross-references to 1 John or Ephesians. Looking for cross-references in the memory passages is probably the most effective and efficient way to find them.
4. Read the verse you want to memorize before you go to bed. This really helps make the verses easier to memorize the next day.
5. Because they don't give a study guide for the fall, I suggest buying a commentary. It will really give you a greater understanding of the book.
I hope your studying goes well. :)
Thank you for creating this group and uploading these verses "Bible Bee Dogs." Thank you also for all the suggestions for studying. This is my second year at locals and first year at nationals, so I'm not really sure if I'm studying the right things. I'm really excited about the Bee!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Joy: Congratulations on making it to Nationals! That is a really great achievement! I know how overwhelming the material can feel in the beginning. I have a few tips that should help. I will them when I have enough time...
@Bible Bee--Primary ESV is up now.
Oops, I just realized that actually is more than two months 'til the Bee. I guess I was just so excited that it went to my head and made my math skills--well, not so skillful;) .
Thank you so much for all your encouraging thoughts, ideas, study helps, etc. I have gone from feeling very overwhelmed to feeling very blessed. And a very big thank you to whoever put all the verses on here. I'm going to tell my sisters (who are juniors) about all of this.
Can't wait to see y'all in LESS THAN TWO MONTHS!!!! To God be the glory; and as biblebee - SR said, whatever we place @ Naionals we are still winners.
How is everyone's studying going?
@Joy: CONGRATULATIONS on qualifying for Nationals!! Nationals is awesome! Here are some of the things that I do to study.
*Write out the chapter
*Memorize the chapter (with the verse numbers)
*Find the Key Verse and Key Words
*Find Greek Words
*Find Cross References
*Read Commentaries
*Study the context of the memory verses
*Study the content of the memory verses
*Write Questions over Ephesians and the memory verses
Some websites that I use:
*Scripture Typer (obviously :D)
*Memverse.com
*blueletterbible.org
*biblegateway.com
*greattreasures.com
*biblehub.com
I have started a Bible Bee blog where I am featuring other Bible Bee contestants and posting how my Bible Bee studying is going and some helpful Bible Bee tips. Here's the link: thebiblebeehive.blogspot.com
You did great on qualifying for nationals and no matter where you place at nationals you are still a winner! Just do your best and leave the results up to God!
it's my second year making it to nationals
and joy, congrats on making it! It's my second year locals too, but first year nationals! :D :D So, I have no suggestions on how to memorize, except, study hard, pray hard, use greattreasures.org, use Scripture Typer, and use memverse.
this is a helpful website that bible bee recommended: greattreasures.org. Joy, I have two things to say to you. first, I LOVE your name (that just so happens to be my middle name :D) and second, where is Primary ESV? I can't start memorizing with this group till it's up, 'cause that's what i'm memorizing.
Also, memorizing the assigned book (with the verse numbers) is helpful for quick recall, whether subjects in chapters or in particular verses.
Quizlet.com is a very helpful study resource. We used it a lot over the summer. Search "Bible Bee Nationals 2013".
Hello, fellow students of the Word and heirs of the promise! I'm a second year local contestant, but this is my first year to make it to Nationals, so I'm in need of tips, online resources, etc. If any of you old-timers have any ideas, I would love to hear them.
I look forward to seeing you all in November. To God be ALL the glory!
