FACT: The Bible is not a type of bee. Your welcome.
could you guys join group JesuSaves and dogs for Jesus? Group JesuSaves is known for Bible trivias. So if you like those you should join! It is a group for God. And both groups are clean of bad words. Group Dogs for Jesus is known for bravery and kindness. The group has been deleted by someone mean, but it just made another one. My brother was so sad because that was his group, and it had about 2,000 group verses current. So if you could join Dogs for Jesus we could make the group great again. Hi. Does anyone sing Scripture songs. We are documenting everyone who can sing 10+ verses from memory in English or Indonesian and everyone who can sing 1 or more verses in any other language. You can send videos to philjohn1558@yahoo.com or join us on Facebook at "Singing the Bible Worldwide" group and/or page. The World Record for verses in English is 211. If you want to try for a new World Record, a national record, or just sing Scripture songs casually, we would love for you to join us.
hello everyone I am inviting everyone in this group who is active to my group I just made named Active members ONLY. I am hoping to make a very active group. I am a very active person and I go on multiple times a day. Thanks! And you too John!
happy holiday season to every1 !!!!!!,!!,!,!
Well, I don't even know what Bible bowl is, except I've heard the name, but I *don't* think that the Bible Bee is like Bible bowl. biblebee.org!
No, it's not like Bible bowl at all! You should check out the link Brianna provided. : )
I can guess... something extremely similar to the Bible bowl...
If you don't know what the Bible Bee is, Aidan, then you should know. Go to biblebee.org.
I honestly don't know what the Bible bee is... but I know the pathfinder bible experience!
dude, if you people dont believe me, then look for a video of bible bee 2015. they specifically say: "john chang" which is my nmae. i am wearing a blue shirt. GOOD LUCK
isn't this Aidan the same guy who doesn't understand parody or humor. isn't he also the one who's never went to nationals.
join my group called bible bee Off-Season memorizers if you go to bible bee!
isn't this solpod the same guy who claims he is Muslim?
Welcome, John! No, you didn't fail - not if you made Nationals, and certainly not if you memorized God's word! I messed up pretty badly in my orals this year too; but God used that a lot in my life, and the verses I memorized were totally worth it. May God bless your memorization! And that sounds like an awesome orals group to be in, by the way. =D
I was in the same oral group as Taylor bontrager, Benjamin carver, and Elizabeth Che.
hi people I am John Chang from juniors 2015. I got 90 something on the test, so I went to nats and I failed like a 🌚boss
hola amigos, me no comprende English wordos.
well they suck at moderation
I think Everett C. is one, too.
I know Matthew M. and SavedByGrace are Moderators...
It appears that the moderators are not on here anymore... I agree it would be good to have the 2015 Nationals verses. Who are the moderators on here, anyway? :)
Idk if the moderators actually get on here anymore, but would it be possible for someone to add the 2015 Nationals verses? I have them if you need them. Thanks!
@Suzanne, this group is for all Bible Bee contestants and families, so if you're in Bible Bee, feel free to join!
Hello I am not in this group but anyone who is in National Bible Bee primaries plz join my group called Primary 2016 National Bible Bee!
Hello can I join your group?
Guys, please stop. I deleted the silly comments. I won't report you for spam this time, but I will if necessary.
Yes, please! (@Bible Boss, I am not an admin)
Can an admin take off the silly comments, please?
Guys, I would really appreciate it if you would stop posting silly stuff. Thanks!
Did anyone have the same spot they had last year as far as locals placement? I was 3 spots higher than last year at 116.
That's alright. Just please stop now. :)
Seeing everyone! :D Oh, and maybe you should delete those meaningless coments... Could you please stop posting all that silly stuff TyGuy3157, Bible Beastmode, I hate Hillary Clinton, and BIBLE BOSS?
So everyone, what is the thing you are most looking forward to about Nationals?
Well, if you mean memorizing them or studying 1John better, I like memorizing better. But I don't like studying the memory passages as much (like doing context etc.), and I like 1John better for that. :)
Do you like studying memory passages or 1 John best? I think I like memory passages best. :)
It's going pretty well. I've stopped school now. :)
How's the studying going, everyone? :)
Okay...I might be able to figure that out...xP
Yes Brianna there is a way to do it if you have a lot of verses and they are in a very orderly way like psalm 66:1 and then psalm 66:2 and so on when you push the first verse to review it the computer should ask you if you would like to review it all together. ;) hope that helped.
Hey guys, sorry this is late! Just saw you talking about how the 1 Corinthians passages were missing, so I added them. Don't know how I missed those! :P
I sure wish there was a way you could change the review frequency of more than one at a time(if anybody knows of a way then do tell). =/
@Hannah, under your settings (under 'review options') you should have an option to never review. I don't know if it actually works, though, because I've never tried it.
@Hannah not that I know of :/ It would be really nice if you could change a bunch at once though
Is there a way to make all your verses so you never review them? Without individually changing each and every one?
Well I just started high school, and I can't afford to take off very much at all. But we've managed it so I can finish all my school by 2:00 in the afternoon.
what is your schedule? for BB?
well we are not going off school totally i do five questions of math everyday and then a one page, essay, reading, or vocabulary exercizes and then i do copying and i do all of my homeschool from 8 to 12 o'clock and then i start memorizing from 1 too 9 o'clock and that is what i usually do :D
They're Senior passages. There is a different collection on this group that has all the passages:
https://scripturetyper.com/Group/View/4ad0323ee3/
I don't know who is the admin on this group, but someone must be, to have added this year's Senior passages.
What division are they from?
Could the admin please add the missing 1 Cor. passages to the 2016 NBB Collection. Thanks!
@Sophia: That's great! I've only gotten about 100 verses done so far. I'm doing school as well so it's not going quite as fast. :) Are you taking off school?
@Josiah, that's great! Tell her congrats for me :)
@Josiah Congratulations! :)

I have memorized at least 300 verses and only have 200 left I don't know if I can finish them by the middle of September but........I hope to finish them by late September! how about you?
I am sure it is much harder being a junior!!!! I usually memorize 10-30 everyday but I know that I have to memorize at least 10 a day
My little sister just got a phone call saying that she qualified!!!!!!!!!
xD @Bethany: You're probably right, and I would probably do something about it if I was admin. xP
Hey, guys, I think the 1 Corinthians passages are missing.
Well, I haven't used it since GS, but yes, it's usually really helpful for me. :) *hug*
How far have you gotten, Sophia?
There are so many verses!! trying to finish them as fast as I can!!!! xP
xD Do you like ST for memorizing a lot, Rachel? *hug*
Never mind, I found them on another group I wasn't a part of. :)
Are there the Junior National passages on here? I didn't see them, but I may be missing something.
did anyone qualify for Nationals?
if I was admin I could add them....
I gave access to last years verses.
@SavedByGrace I have them too. Obviously it's not exactly priority now, but it would be nice after Nats :)
I'm not an admin but I have them. :)
I think I could get them...but I'm not admin. :) I'm not 100% sure though.
yes I think that is a really good idea!!
@Katherine - I think that's a great idea. Do you know anyone who has access to last year's verses?
I am 160th not quite qualifying but close.
can I be able to add verses
I think that's a good idea:)
I was just thinking, since this group is a carryover from last year, it might be cool if we could keep this year's and last year's verses on it permanently; we could just add the new ones next year. Just an idea :)

Thank you yes to bad that you are not the admin xP any way umm whoever is the admin can you please add the primary verses on this group Thank you :)
@Hannah, some of the groups were from last year but have had the new verses added, some were just groups for locals, and some were recently started. It doesn't really matter if you join them all or just join one- they are pretty much the same. However, some groups are more active than others.
Why is there more than one ST BB group? What's the difference between them?
I would if I were admin, but I'm not...xP
does anyone know if somebody is going to add the primary verses to this group? @ Brianna wow you have been doing the bible bee for a really long time xP at least it seems to me like that :D a neat advantage to everyone who did the bible bee in 2013 xP I didn't last year was my first year in bible bee memorizing the verses was hard for me I did not finish my verses but going to nat's was fun!!
I think the 1 Corinthians passages are missing? 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 and 1 Corinthians 9:16-27.
Everett: It's not official yet, but I'm pretty sure we're going. :) Yes, if we go, it will be the entire family.
I have participated in the Bible Bee for 7 years now, including this year, but our family has done it for all 8 years. I could have done it in 2009, and now I wish I had, but oh well. Yeah I know! But as I'm reading through 1John, I'm realizing that it goes REALLY well with John 13-15 and Abiding! So I'm really going to enjoy going through it again, even though it is kind of weird. =)
Me to I am trying to study hard! how many years have you been doing the bible bee? I've been doing it for 2 years :) I can hardly believe that the book that were supposed to study is 1 john! xP I mean everyone thought it was going to be john 16-21 it is kind of weird that the bible bee people didn't finish the book of john and it is also weird because in 2013 1 john was the book people were studying!!
We have limited internet access, so I don't think he can get to Google+...I asked him and he said maybe he could join and get on there when he does his video calls.
@Brianna: Would Matthew be interested in joining the BB Alumni community on Google+?
Thank you! I'm praying! (and working hard) =)

Thanks for the encouragement! I hope you get into semi's!
@Hannah - Glad you can go this year! Is your whole family coming?
Oh okay. =) Then you beat my 10 year old brother! ;) This is his first time making Nat's. Yeah I did not expect to get that high and my goal is definitely to make semi's, but as for the traveling part, I live in SA, so I wouldn't have to "go." ;) I'm planning to finish early in October. You can do it! :D
No Brianna xP I am a primary but this is my last year as being one next year I will be a junior! you got a really good ranking I guess if you fight a bit more and if you go t TX you'll probably get into semi's that would be fun BTW when are you planning to finish your verses? I am planning to finish them in the middle of September at least i'll try!! xP
Thanks for adding the verses! @Hannah: Alright. That would be easiest. x)
Brianna: I already have a collection of all the Junior passages that I got from somewhere else, so I could just click "add" and it would add.
1 John verses added as well.
Are you a junior, Sophia? I got 15th.
What is everybodys scores? my score was 68
I could do that too...but you might have more time. ;) BTW, where did the rest of the verses go? O.o
If whoever is admin would make me a temporary admin, I could add the Junior verses.
Okay - Matthew doesn't use ST any more, he says 'cause he's alumni.
Oh. Just saw that Matthew is an admin here too. That probably would have been easier... but whatever. :P
Lol, no, I didn't. I wasn't actually going to. xP
Hope you didn't send that PM yet, because I just emailed him about it. :) I'll update you all as soon as he responds.
We should all PM him on Memverse so that he gets tons of PMs at the same time and decides to do something xP jk
It says "adds verses" under Steve W's name, but I don't think he or any other admin's have been very active on here lately.
Not unless the admin makes you also an admin. Then you can.
Is there a way for me to add a verse collection to this group? I'm not sure if or how I'm able to do that.
I'm not sure if this was already announced, but 1 John is the study book.
It's so exciting! Especially since she's never made it to semi's!!!
Yes, I did! *screams, then faints*
Good job! Did everyone see who got 1st and her score??? xD
I have a set ready with all of the Senior verses, if that helps. I made 68th. :)
Danika P., she was in semi's last year. We were talking about it when we first found out, and she was one of the ones we thought would be the top! xD @SavedByGrace: Yes, I will, if nobody does it before I get around to it. ;P BTW, what was your rank?
Does anyone know if this group plans on adding the memory verses for Nationals?
Who is Danika? And yes, that is amazing!
Danika was 2nd! Isn't that amazing?
The questions have different values? Oh...
You too! Grace told me your rank! xD
Congratulations, everyone! :D
Oh okay...but still, it would seem that all the questions have different values, and it would be impossible to calculate the number of questions you got wrong...O.o
I did a bunch of math and stuff with my score.
How do you know the number of questions?
I QUALIFIED!!!! I was #56!! I got 130 questions right!!!! I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got the numbers! Seniors have 915vs., Juniors have 795, and primaries have 618!!! And apparently they're all different!!! :D I'm glad there's a lot of verses! xD But apparently they have not announced the study passage yet! :P
Brianna: There are no more than 113 passages for Juniors... because that's how many cards there are. But some of the passages are reeeaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyy long...
And is the study passage not released yet?
xD Exciting! xD But our mom's gone and we can't get onto our families dashboard without her! argh! How many verses are there???
27th. The verses are released!!!!!
Okay I removed that post so I'll just repeat what I said. xP @Hannah: It's not Everett 'cause he's rank 30. We've found out a lot of people, but not 1st! :P @Grace W: What's your rank? (if you don't mind telling;)
Whups. =/ xD You can wait a few more hours, surely. ;D
Oh, okay. (BTW, not sure that he wants his last name out on the internet... jsyk.)
The scores STILL haven't been released! I have a feeling they won't release them until 7:00 PM, like all the other years... :( :'( But they're already releasing them in a different way, so I was hoping they'd do it sooner. I am also checking Dad's email about every 10 minutes to see if there's an invitation to Nationals... *hopes desperately*
I don't know who it is yet!
It might be Caleb. xP (jk... if it's anyone that we know, it's almost certainly Everett.)
I don't know - I want to see them too - but we're not even sure that they're going to post all the scores on the website for everyone to see. =/ I hope they do. We haven't been able to find the top senior yet. xP By the way, does anyone know? ;D We know a lot of the top ones, but not #1.
*can't wait for tomorrow* Does anyone know when the scores will be posted tomorrow? I will probably be checking every 30 seconds tomorrow. I am so excited and nervous and CRAZY!! *faints*
We just got back from award day. :D
It's the same way with me. ;P
Thank you! I write stories too, but they're not very good. :P
@Mommys Helper, I love the poem! It's beautiful! I've only wrote a few poems, (they were Really bad =P)instead i'm writing stories. =)
GUESS WHAT?!?! I just realized that on Bible Gateway, you have an option to read a passage in context, so you won't have to read the whole chapter of a passage to find the context! Step 1: type in a phrase or sentence of the memory passage in the search engine on biblegateway.com Step 2: Find your passage Step 3: Under the passage, it has a couple links: In Context, Full Chapter, and Other Translations. Click In context. And it will take you to the context of the verse!!! :D :D (Kinda late, I know. But still helpful for those who haven't taken the test yet!!
Okay. I might like to look at those. Thanks!
I wrote lots of poems before BB started... xP You can view lots of them here (if you want...) http://2timothypoetry.weebly.com/hannah-w.html
I like it! Do you like to write poems often? I've written several and would probably write more if I had more time! ;)
LOL, nevermind. I found it.
Guys, WHERE IS THE LINK TO THE BIBLE BEE TEST!?!?!? I can't find it anywhere!!!
That is a really nice poem Hannah! I used to have on just like it but I can't find it except my poem was about how God plans
I wrote this poem which is my prayer before the test:
Teach me, O Lord, to have humility,
I can do nothing unless you help me.
Allow me to think clearly and do my best,
But just to do that and to leave you the rest.
You oida that I want to qualify, Lord,
Equip me and arm me with your pneuma's Sword.
But let my prayer be, just like that of your Son,
“Not my will, O Lord, but let your will be done.”
Oh okay - it's not really needed since those verses are on other BB groups. :)
It looks like Matthew is. (It says Add Verses under his name.) I think there are five admins.
You know someone who's admin could add the DJ cross-references that Sarah and Katherine put together if they wanted to - I'm not sure who's admin on here...
Okay - that's what I thought. :) I had forgotten about NKJV.
ESV doesn't have the comma. What we did was sing it the way it's in the Messiah by Handel (there's a pause between each word). :)
NASB doesn't have the comma, but I don't know about ESV. It probably doesn't, though.
Oh okay. :) But the other 2 versions don't, do they?
NKJV has the comma between Wonderful and Counselor as well
Yeah, that is confusing. :) But I still like KJV best. ;P (we use it) So far with the Discovery Journal we've thought that they're being way too version specific, for example they say there are 5 names of Jesus in Isaiah 9:6(wonderful, counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace), but only KJV has that(wrong) comma between the words wonderful and counselor. It is really supposed to be "Wonderful counselor". xP

One thing that I think will be hard at locals is wording. Because in my version, (The KJV) in John 13:17 it says "happy are ye.." and the NKJV says "Blesses are ye.." so if a question ask at locals "In john 13:17 what are we blesses by doing?" I wouldn't even think the world 'Blessed' is in there. I'll just have to be careful. =)

I'm so excited to be doing bible bee this year! This will be my first year as a Senior.
Hello everybody, I added John 13-15 separate verses, John 13-15 whole chapters, and the memory local passages. Yes, a local 2016 group has already been created. The collections are the same for both groups so verses you memorize here will count in the other group as well.
There's several BB 2016 groups, but that's the main one. - Bible Bee Locals 2016 John 13-15.
Probably. xP He's not on ST any more since he's out of BB. I wouldn't think he's be the only one though. But like I said, there is another group for 2016, so maybe everyone should just join that one. ;P
There's a group here: https://scripturetyper.com/Group/View/2384d88254/ that has all the verses for this year. I think it's sort of the 'official' group, although there is a junior group.
I have the same question, Grace. Brianna, isn't Matthew an admin?
I don't know who's admin on here, but there is a group already that is (growing fast) called "Bible Bee Locals 2016 John 13-15". :)
Does anyone know if an admin is going to add the Local verses, John 13-15, and "update" this groups name?
I have a question. In john 13:2 the word translated as being ended can also be translated as having begun. As we continue on it does not appear that the supper was over, but was in progress so why was the word translated (at least in NKJV) as being ended.
Ok going to print mine when i get home!:)
To download them, right-click on the screen and then click DownThemAll! And it'll download them. (If you're computer's different than mine and doesn't do it like that, then........ Too bad, I don't know what to do. xP Sorry.)
Because the Bible Bee didn't send verse cards in PDF form to print off, I made my own. They're smaller than the BB ones (they're 3 3/4 in. by 2 1/4 in.) but I like them because you can carry them in your pocket or wherever. I thought some of you who use ESV might want them too (they're ESV (obviously)) so here's the link to download the PDF: http://www.pdf.investintech.com/preview/7a8e2894-28ed-11e6-837c-002590d31986/index.html
I was not expecting that because I didn't think it was coming out till the sixth. Now I'm rushing to get it all printed out.
i made a group for this years Bible Bee. this is the link: https://scripturetyper.com/Group/View/c75e29c4ef/
The Discovery Journal is out!!! xD I can hardly believe it!!! xD
All join the group Bible Bee Locals 2016!
@⚔TyGuy3157⚔, will you be participating in the Bible Bee this year?
@sarah, there has been a Bible Bee Locals 2016 group since sometime in 2015. There will probably be other groups that pop up for this year after the study materials are released.
As we look forward to Bible Bee, everyone please remember to pray for the staff as they try to prepare everything. I'm sure they're under tremendous pressure and would appreciate our prayers :)
Mine too, and some of our friends as well :)
Cute!
Our family did!!! xD @Anastasia: That's me. x)
Did anyone of you sign up for Bible Bee 2016?
i am so exited that bible bee is coming up and am going to start reviewing right away
I havent reviewed because theres no urgent need to and I have had a lot of things to do lately. Once the bible bee box gets here, I will prolly start reviewing :)
That doesn't mean there won't be(I'm super excited too!!! xD). I for one just haven't had hardly any time to review lately. That takes a whole lot longer than posting a comment. :P
I know this year's study doesn't start for another week or two, but will there be an official ST group for it? (I'm looking forward to it!)

(Look up the #MandelaEffect) The Lords Prayer in the KJV is not correct anymore in the KJV (how we remember "tresspasses" changed to "debts" and "those who tresspass against us" changed to "our debtors" and "ON earth" in Mt6,10 changed to "IN earth" - look it up!!!) and John8:32 has changed, as well as Isaiah11,6 changed from "Lion and Lamb will live together" to "Wolve(s) and lamb will live together"
Check out the Mandela-Effect-Wiki for more Information! http://mandela-effect-wiki.tk
PS: i'm not joking, i'm totally serious!
PPS: even wikipedia censors this topic... (see discussion on startpage in the wiki)
@Swag Nolan Hi is everything all right? Can I help or give you some information where you can find some help?
wow. y'all definitely know your bible!! That's amazing and I am working on memorizing/ learing more of the bible myself. The only way to get closer to God is through prayer and HIS WORD!!!!!
Moose have been coming to lick the van
@Baseball, No, we don't (that I know of)
Please join my group called memorizing scripture.
Yeah I did Noah... guess what it is of :D
hey uhh u don't get any money?
@Mommys Helper:did u change your picture?
baseball: You don't get anything but credit for being first... so if someone cheats their way to the top we give the highest non-cheating group credit.
wat do u get for being 1st
Yes, that would be very nice. :)
Thank you, TyGuy and Matthew! It would be nice if Scripture Typer had some way of not allowing you to add a verse that doesn't actually exist.
Well, all we can do besides ask them nicely not to, is just make sure we don't cheat. :)
yeah......tons of groups like angry bannna,Rouse,Bomb.com,and up the trunk are cheating.
I just removed a whole bunch of useless/negative comments, if you're wondering where they went. Not in our group, thank you. Not much can be done right now to stop you from cheating your way to the top, if you really want to, but remember that this is a Scripture memorization website; think about the impression you're giving of Christ's followers.
I think they write a really long reference, and that makes the thing think it is that many verses, but it is actually only a few words, so they can keep them reviewed, even with all those verses.
For like, "Psalm 0:0-555", The verse is, (I actually looked) "-verse 0 not found-" That's it! And some of those crazy passages don't have any words in them!
@Anna, you are right: they have quite a few passages (such as Psalm 1:0-1000) that don't exist. The only thing I don't get is how they can 'memorize' them and keep them current so they actually count!
@Brianna: Their collections have verses that don't really exist. So, they could have a passage like Genesis 1:1-100000. That's why we're not first anymore. @TyGuy: I don't really know how other than contacting the administrator of Scripture Typer. And I don't really know how to contact him :).
@Anna: I'm not exactly sure what you mean...
@TyGuy3157: Are you talking to me? Why can't I report people? Thank you for trying to get them to stop.
@Brianna: Most of the verses in the other group's collections aren't real. Has anyone reported this to the admin yet? I might do it on the forums if the page will load completely for me (it hasn't recently when I've tried).
we r sorry he is really mean sometimes but we kinda cheat so sorry about wat he said
We're not first! I'm working on reviewing. I have been super busy lately. :)
I live in Texas and I will make sure my parents vote (even though they were planning to anyway)
I am sorry that I did not look at the message wall in time but I prayed just the same. better late than never, though.
We SO need to pray for the primaries tomorrow. It's "Super Tuesday", the day that 1/4 of the Republican delegates will be given to candidates. This is the day that will essentially decide who our nominee for President is.
This is important. We should cover it with prayer. I was thinking that we could all pray for it at the same time, kind of like what we did for the BB. Will you join us in praying for a bit between noon and 1:30 (eastern) tomorrow?
And if you live in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wyoming or American Samoa (AK and WY are Republican only, and AS is democrat), go vote/caucus!!
Rejoicing in our great King and in His sovereignty.
We need to move back up to first!!
Join my group called Ruth Sword Study & Verses!
We're back to #2 again! =/
Now, my picture is not me, but my newest sibling, Gideon. Born January 29th. =D
That's odd :) And I was just about to say we're first, too!!
For some reason whenever I post, and then click renew the page, it shows my previous post twice! :P
We're first again! Keep reviewing or we're not going to stay there! ;P
@Delie - Same here, except I'm memorizing them in individual verses :P
If an admin adds more whole chapters of John, I can help boost our verses that way. By the way, congratulations to all of you who are still reviewing your BB verses!
Everyone review your verses! We've dropped back to #2.
join my group it is called bible bee locals 2016 !!!
Yeah, could someone please add the whole gospel of John. Thanks!

To import verses, you click 'add or import verses', and then you click the group you want to import the verses to, you click 'import verse text' and you click 'save scripture'. If the verse takes a long time to save, don't click it again several times, because then you will have several copies of the same verse.:)

First you click "Create a collection" and you name your collection and then you import verses into that collection and then you click on that group( it will appear in "master collections" and you can choose the verse you memorize that you have imported.
can someone explain to me how to use this application. I thought that it would select a first for you to memorize. sorry, I meant a verse...

Hi everyone, I think I have the Sermon on the Mount group working, but I'm not positive. Here is the link. Let me know if it doesn't work, and I'll try to fix it. :) You're welcome to join! :)

Hi, I'm Hannah W.'s sister! I competed in Bible Bee for the first time this year.
@Alyssa, if you end up making a group please share the link! I would be happy to join! Such a great passage to memorize!
@Hannah: Could I have a link to your group please?
Can any of you join my group? It's called christmas. Please invite peeple to join it!
Alyssa Tapenforth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will make a group for the Sermon on the Mount soon. I'll let you know when it's up. For those of you who don't know who I am, I am a Junior this year. My last name starts with "T", and I'm from Arizona. :)
I would like you to make a group,Alyssa.
I know most of you have probably already picked a passage to memorize, but I am going to memorize the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). I will create a group if any of you want to join me. If you want me to create a group, let me know. :)
can anybody join my group it is called Noah and is group 9 and we are doing 1 John and romans.
Thanks for joining my group!!
@Ben there should be in the top right corner
@Ben: If you're talking about groups in general you can find them here,
https://scripturetyper.com/Bible-Memory-Groups/
Or you can click on your "My Verses" page and look in the top left corner. The should be a button that says, "Join a Group", that will take you to the groups.
where do you find the groups?
anna can you join my group it is called memory cats i am sophia that you met at BB:)
anna moss will you join my group it is called noah and is group 13
@Allison: There are at least twelve badges :).
@Servant of the King, There are at least 6 badges.
i think i will join the off season group since Emily hamliton is in it...:)
@Ryan S: Here is an address for the "Off-Season" Group we were talking about, https://scripturetyper.com/Group/View/a7030d37e3/
there is one for starting a group joining a group collecting a collection doing an imported verse and reviewing my group is called noah will you join it Servant of the king. those are the badges i have .
So now that it has been a little while since they've made the badges, what badges do you all have or what can you get?

Just finished a group called John 13-21. Hope you all like it.
Yay!! We're back to first!

Audrey: Could you post the link for the Psalms group? Sometimes it's difficult to find a group :)
Oh.... I went ahead and made a group called "Memorize the Book of Psalms". Anyone can join, but don't feel like you have to! :)
@Nate Ok thanks! @Everyone could we do a vote for who wants Psalms and who wants John 13-21? Thanks!
I'd be interested in doing the Psalms. :)
@Ryan S: I'm not sure. I'll let you know when I have an answer for that!
join my group it is called noah and 1,300 verses
I'd be interested in memorizing some of the Psalms, although I don't know how many I can get through... :D
@Nate Do you know a person in the group who could add the verses so that we could do them in this group? Or would you rather do it in a independent group?
@Nate I guess that is true that we have six months! @Noah Zachary I do not have a brother named Andrew sorry.
@Nate: I have quite a few memorized already, especially after this BB! But compared to the whole book, yeah, it's a pretty small percentage. I may not complete them all, but I'll try. :)
@Ryan S: It is long, but then again we have 6 months! :)
@Audrey: All the Psalms!?!? That's alot! About how many do you have done?
is your brother andrew. Join my group.
I didn't win in 2013 that was Ryan Sinni I think. I am Ryan Schmitt
I was planning on memorizing as many Psalms as I could during the BB "off season". I hope to have the entire book of Psalms memorized by next BB. If anyone cares to join me, let me know and I'll make a group for that. :)
@Ryan: Are you the the Ryan S that won in 2013?
@Nate John 13-21 is a good idea but I think it is a bit long for memorizing. I have nothing against it though! I might just not get the whole thing done!
*Memverse... autocorrect...
I am on member we but just for the knowledge test they did before Nat.
I'm currently doing something with my brother, but I'll be done by Christmas, Lord-willing. After that, I'm planning to do the Ruth Sword Study.
@Ryan S: Are you on Memverse? We're talking about doing something similar over on their forums. The idea of doing John 13-21 is kinda floating around over there.
Or we could try a more challenging book or section...
Mainly the epistles are a good length.
I was thinking maybe 1 John or a book of similar length. If anyone else has suggestions I would like to hear them! Thanks again!
@Ryan S: I'm interested. Keep me posted!
In the past the groups on the Google Docs have tried to memorize stuff in the off-season. last year I think that they did Psalm 119 and the year before that was Ecclesiastes. Does anyone want to do a similar thing in this group? If so please put your suggestion on the msg wall! Thanks!
@Rachel: It seems like they said awhile back that scores would be released sometime in the month following Nationals. I know it's a really long time to wait! Nationals already seems so long ago.
It was only in the Senior. Do you know when the total scores will be out?

I'm a Junior and I entered my email but didn't receive my score. Apparently it was a glitch that only occurred on the Senior test.
I also put in my email address but did not get my score D:
Hope they release it soon :)
@Nathaniel Same, I can't wait to see my oral score (hopefully they'll give it separately so we can see how much the oral score counted compared to the written score)!!!
I put in my parent's email, but they haven't received my score :(
HORRORS! We're second place! Start reviewing, everybody..........
Yes, what Nathaniel said is true; I hope they will let us know our scores, too...
I know that some (but not all) of the Seniors did get test scores. If we entered our (or our parent's) email, then at the end of the test the scores were emailed to that address. I also hope they release the combined oral and written preliminary scores...
@biblebee That makes sense! Thanks! btw, good job at nats!
Are we supposed to get an email with our scores??? I heard some people got scores, but neither I nor my parents did, which I'm disappointed about. Maybe, like Carissa said, only Seniors got scores...
I am starting a group called "The Pentateuch verse by verse" anyone is welcome to join and if anyone would like to help me start it, I know nothing:)
I did not get any e-mail about my test score, which I am disappointed about.
The scores will be released. @Nate: I think only the seniors got their written test score...
@Ann Did you get the e-mail that included your written test score? That's all they've released as of now... I think.

where was the memverse/scripturetyper meeting?
join the group called mason
It was not found in the earliest known manuscripts, however in later texts it was included, so it ended up in most bibles though it is usually marked by italics or in the footnotes, however some versions omit it completely.
What do you mean, it wasn't originally in the Bible?
Okay, maybe not. We're still at home :P
Not sure - maybe noon-ish?
Correction to my first one: thinks, not things ;P
Matthew, what time do you get here today?
DUDE! The Bible is God's word no matter what man things. God meant for that passage to be where it is, so we should just accept that it's part of John! God works all things for good. :)
Yeah. I suppose they wouldn't say that about the test. But, I mean, if it wasn't originally in the Bible, I thought they might not have test questions about it. But if it is a mainly factual test I suppose they probly will.
Haha, no I didn't ask, if that's what you're thinking. I just think that since it's part of John 1-12 it will be asked. ;)
Ah. Is it just obvious or did the Bible Bee people confirm? :P
Do ya'll think that there will be questions on John 8:1-11 on the test?
I am packing also!! I am leaving tonight. I hope I can fall asleep before tomorrow, because we might get there at eleven.
@Ann: the information was in the "Getting ready for Nationals!" email sent on September 23rd. I think the only information in that email that is relevant to contestants at this point is the dress code.
It was in an early email they sent out to the parents.
Thanks! Where did you even find that info? I don't remember it being mentioned anywhere!
My mom is really confusing me while Is pack. Everything is Pink! It drives me crazy!!!!!!!
Correct. We had to look at that today too. :P
Hey, I remember someone telling me that the dress code for Bible Bee is black pants or skirt. Just wanted to confirm that, before I pack.
@Anna - Alright :) If they're ultra fine point we might use them, but if they're just regular fine point we might not because we need small signatures. ;) Thanks!
I am leaving Monday evening.
@Matthew: I'm bringing eight sharpies. I've forgotten the colors, but it's all normal colors that you could probably guess. If you don't end up using them, that's fine, but I'll go ahead and bring them anyway :). Looking forward to seeing you all in TWO DAYS!!!!!!!!!
Hmm!! Twirly! ONLY TWO MORE DAYS! I'm excited; how about you guys?!
We're leaving Monday too!! (I'm Buddy's sister ;P)
I'm so glad it's in Texas this year. We don't have to leave until Tuesday morning!
When are y'all heading out? We're leaving Monday.
Courtney finished the poster!
The current BB logo is only blue and dark red. I'll go ahead and bring all of them and see what the people "in charge" think. :P
I think that BB logo colors is enough(brown, blue, gold, and black).
Unless you do decide to only do BB colors, I think the more colors, the better!
Guys, the meeting is right after the Contestant Fun Night on Tuesday night.
I do Quizlet and ST. When will the meeting be???
I think the meeting is in the hotel lobby.
Also guys, I think most people staying there are business men so probably won't be many people there. I may be wrong though.
Oh. I'm glad. I really don't think that most flowers are edible.
Sorry, I misinterpreted my mom. That's the name of the room we are eating in.
What flowers to EAT!!??!!??!!!!!!!???????
Four days left!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Ben: We don't know what the real test will be like. I would guess that it would be more like the easier practice test we made. The harder one was modeled more after the 2013-2014 tests.
Nice your going really!!!!
I am flying to Texas tonight. EEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Matthew, I think that for the sharpies a lot of colors would be nice... however, if colors like yellow and orange are too light, they should be excluded. @Everett (And everyone else who helped make the test), thank you so much! It was wonderful, and extremely helpful. Thank you!
@Matthew- I personally think that we should bring whatever colors- the more colorful the sign, the better, imo.
Did y'all know that we are eating flowers for dinner Tuesday? Weird huh.
Are we gonna miss the fun stuff? I don't wanna do that! Everett, thanks! It was hard but very helpful. Is this what the real test is?
Maybe we should only bring black, blue, maroon(BB logo colors) and maybe yellow.
The MV and Quizlet meeting is in the senior room after the icebreaker and meeting of commanders. ;)
Hey guys, we have 8 Ultra Fine Point Sharpies in different colors, but I'm not sure if we need that many colors. Maybe just black, blue, red, and green, and probably not yellow, orange, purple or brown... Thoughts? :P
I really hope that I can memorize everything in time.
OH NO!!!' just trying to get everything into my Head!!!!
Tuesday night, 6:15 PM, at the same time as the contestant fun night. And that would be seven through nineteen, not sevenTEEN through nineteen. ;)
I don't think it matters too much, but under the Senior tab is says 1 Timothy 6:17-19 when that's actually a Junior verse as well.
Wait; so we're having the Quizlet and MV meeting at the same time? When and Where?

@Paisely - You're welcome! I actually meant to put Deuteronomy 32:44-47. Thanks for letting me know.
Thanks for sharing the tests, Everett! There was one question that I noticed on the Primary test that I think has the incorrect answer marked... It was "According to Deuteronomy 30:19-20, what were the people to do with the words of Moses?" Just wanted to let you know. :) Thanks again! It was very helpful.
TornadoZach, the webinar notes are on your family control panel. You will need to login, and they are under "Family Resources." You will probably have to scroll down quite a bit. They are called "WebiNotes." Hope this helps!
@Joy- I really like that idea!!
Hey, my mom was wondering, do you guys know where they have posted the notes for the webinars
That will probably work, Joy. Since now it looks like we'll be having the Memverse and Quizlet meetings at the same time anyways :D
@Matthew and @Cory: I wonder if we could bring the poster to one of the division parties Tuesday night (maybe two, if someone could volunteer to take it over to another room). I guess you would have to have someone in charge of the poster in each division, but then at least you wouldn't have to wait until the processional for all three divisions. Just wanted to throw the thought out there...

What are your real names guys? CPC, I understand how cold it is in Houston.
I highly doubt having it outside would work either, unless we did it off-site - which of course is highly impractical. Since Tuesday and Wednesday aren't going to work anyways it probably doesn't matter...
@Cory, okay, good idea! I think. We just don't want to make it too public. =P
I really hope there will be an extra day to go to the waterpark. Hopefully that day will be warm.
I live in Houston. So does ZebraGirl.
@Cari- ok, yeah, that's fine :) I'm just throwing out suggestions. @Matthew, since there probably won't be a meeting on Tuesday, you might just have to bring the poster to the processional for everyone to sign...
@Cori: Yeah, I don't know how well it will work... I guess we'll have to see when we get there...or when/if we hear back from Mr. Street. @S: From my experience in 2012 and 2013, there will be plenty of other people using the water park too...
I've lived here my whole life, in sweet ol' Texas.
Its funny though cause I'm Indian. Not Native American.
I'm in Pflugerville and it's just perfect out here! Just the mornings and nights that get you. See y'all there.

Other than that, I have a feeling we won't nearly be the only ones wanting to use the water park at any given time.

Woah! There's only one week until Nationals! I agree with everyone who has already said this. So little time! I'm scrambling to memorize them all!
I agree with CPC and Buddy!
Oh, sorry, I didn't realize someone else already posted that :)
@Grace Wanliss - Elijah raised the widow of Zarephath's son (1 Kings 17:17-24), Elisha raised the Shunnamite woman's son (2 Kings 4:32-37), and a man came back to life after being thrown into Elisha's grave (2 Kings 13:20-21).
The logo is just going Flip Flop!
@CPC - I know what you mean!
The National bible bee hopeful's logo changed too!
Hey! The logo flipped again!
@ Grace, you are welcome:)
Elijah raises the widow's son in 1Kings 17, The Shunammite’s son is raised by Elisha in 2Kings 4, and the dead man who touches Elisha's body comes back to life in 2 kings 13
In the Senior Practice Test it said that there were 3 miraculous resurrections in the OT, I can't find what they were! Do any of you know??
@ Anna, That's interesting! See you soon =D
@Matthew: I'm guessing Mr. Street hasn't written you back yet...? If we don't hear back from him soon, I think we should just stick with our planned time for the MV Meeting (3:30 on Wednesday). And yeah, I don't think we need an ST Meeting.
@Cory: I'll try to remember the markers. @Grace: When you said that your time was growing short, I immediately thought of John 7:6 (which is sort of the opposite of what you said) :). @All: See y'all in a week!!! I can't believe that Nationals is really almost here!!!
We were thinking not, since most everyone on Memverse is on ST too. Perhaps we can call it the "Memverse/ScriptureTyper" meeting ;) I don't want to be involved in planning yet another meeting when our schedule is already so tight.
Matthew, is there even going to be an ST meeting? I didn't think that there was :/
Yeah, they're all from one set of 422 questions. There's a lot of overlap, but a lot of the questions are different too.
Matthew, do your tests have overlap for each division's test? Basically, I'm asking if the Junior test has some Primary test questions, and if the Senior test has some Primary and Junior test questions. :)
I am no where close to finishing my verses! Only one week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Ann - My test had about ten questions on Greek and five on definitions. Usually they only ask like five or ten questions on Greek/keywords.
Yes, time is growing short........
@Ann, they are usually a part of the written test, but they're definitely not a majority; I think this year's local test only had about 10-15 questions on them, at most. It's probably best to just study the most important ones, and any others as you can; I would recommend Quizlet to study Greek words, since a lot of people have already put out sets on them.
I noticed the practice tests put a lot of emphasis on Greek/Hebrew roots, which I haven't been studying much. Are they a big part of the written test?
I don't really think you need to worry about all that, guys :)
Should I bring sharpies/markers, or 30 cents?? I wasn't around when this was decided.
Just a reminder to those who are bringing markers/30 cents to do so :) After all, Nationals is in a little over a week!
Thanks Everett and Matthew!! I've been looking forward to these :D
Thank you Everett and Matthew! These will be helpful!
Coincidentally, my group's practice tests are available at the same time. :)

@ZebraGirl - I don't think this group will be deleted after BB; they usually aren't :)
Hey guys! I've compiled a full-length practice test. The questions are comparable to those of the 2015 Local test. The Junior/Senior test is basically the Primary test + 25 extra questions. I'm also working on another practice test that will be much harder than this one; I'll post the link when it's finished.

They have to answer a lot of forms and sent out letters of all sorts. I think that it might take a while for them to send out all of the letters. I hope that I will get mine in time for nationals :)
Yes; I mean, all the ones that I have seen/heard of are by the same person. She's probably really busy too!
I think they're sending them gradually. I mean, it's hard for just one person (or even a few people) to write 360 postcards in one day :P
Rachel: I haven't gotten a postcard either.
I haven't gotten a postcard yet. Do you think they are sending them to everyone?
@Ben, My sister and I both received post cards from Mrs. Woody. @Zach, I sent in an audition (On the former deadline).@CPC, It's hard to believe there's only ten days left! I don't think that it is really 6%; it just seems that way=D I think they will probably choose a larger range this year... But that's just me.
@CPC: Well, it's actually not the top 6% that get to be in the Game Show; it may feel like that, but that's not a qualification :). Actually, last year, there were some people who were in the 30s for their ranking at Nationals who got to be in the Game Show. My personal opinion is that this year they may choose people with an even broader range of scores/rankings. But, having a higher ranking will probably increase your chance of being chosen :). Wow! I can't believe that Nationals is that soon! I'm nowhere near ready... :)
ONLY 10 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I sent my video in on Monday(former deadline). My mom said that they moved it back, most likely because they hadn't gotten many videos. I thought that only the top 6% got to be in the gameshow. Have they changed it???
I sent one in, how about everyone else.
The deadline for GS auditions is today.
My older sister got a postcard, but I haven't gotten one yet. Um..
is this group going to be deleted when BB is over???
I did to was it from Miss Woody my sister got it to my sister is Grace Wanliss
Did anyone get a postcard from Bible Bee? I did :)
oh yeah, I knew that. My dad told me that a while ago:)
@Grace- here's the address:
18615 Tuscany Stone //
Ste. 200//
San Antonio, Texas 78258 - hope this helps :)
HQ is not in Wilmington anymore. It's in San Antonio, but I don't have the exact address.
@zebragirl #1 #2 and #4 are all biblebee groups
I think HQ is in Wilmington, OH:) I looked it up
Thank you everyone! I don't know how I deleted it, but I guess I need to be more careful in the future. :) Like you said, I don't think I will be able to add it back in... :)
Could someone please give me the BBHQ address. TY! :)
We are in first place of all the groups on ST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Um.... I just looked at the Primary full release, and it had Psalm 103 on there. I'm not sure if it's just your account, but it shows up for me.
@ Alyssa, I have not had that problem. But as 'Buddy' just said, I have accidentally deleted a verse before. You can add it back under your regular account, but it just won't count towards the group.
@Alyssa - I had that problem with a different verse. I think I accidently deleted it from the collection, and I haven't found any way to add it back... :)
I just finished learning the Psalms so It shouldn't be very hard now.
Is it just my problem, or is Psalm 103 not showing up on the primary full release national verses? I added it to my account, but I wondered if anyone else had the same trouble. It would be nice to have it in its appropriate set of verses. :)
Does anyone have a motivation helping them? i have one, which is gymnastics. (Obviously I love gymnastics.)
I would say it's more of just a CR
Is John 1:51 - Genesis 28:12 considered a "quote"?
I still have a " few " verses to do. I think I can finish in time but I'm not sure! Yikes!
I know, right? TWO WEEKS. I am trying to pack everything into my head, but being my first year in Seniors it's pretty hard.
@Katherine- yeah, that's what I'm thining. Besides, if they're separate meetings, then we have more time to socialize xD Also, I'm not sure if we need a ST meeting- the majority of the people on here are either on MV or Quizlet anyway... it might be even more confusing to try to fit in three meetings.
@Lilly- Basically, they're meetings where everyone can meet the other people from the websites, and there's going to be games, and we're going to pray for each other :)
I know MV stands for mem verse.
what is the Quizlet, MV, and ST meeting?
I'm actually pretty confused myself :P Are we talking about combining the Quizlet and MV meetings, or the MV and ST meetings, or the ST and Quizlet meetings, or all three? I'm putting together the Quizlet meeting, so if we're combining with somebody else I guess I'll need to let everybody know. But I think everyone will get really confused if we do that.
It might get too confusing as well, since you've already put out the announcement to change it to a different day...
I sent an email to Mr. Street about combining the meetings, and I'm fine with whatever. It could be kinda confusing...but I think most people know pretty well who is in what community, etc... And we can always just say "This is the MV Picture", "This is the ST Picture", etc... And we can get a group picture of everybody... But whatever. I'm hoping though that any meetings set on Tuesday will work for me and Bethany... :)
It does get kind of confusing
If people really want to do a combined meeting, you not totally opposed to it, but I think it would get kinda confusing.
Lilly: If you don't like skirts/dresses, you could wear black pants.
@Matthew - Okay, thank you! We're planning the Quizlet meeting for Tuesday, and hopefully we can keep it there, but of course we don't know yet who's staying in the other hotel. I'm thinking we'll still keep it on Tuesday if possible, though, because it would be way too many complications now if we tried to move it.
@Anna, yeah, I actually kind of like the idea of combining the meetings myself, and mentioned that to Mr. Street. ;) But some other people are not really liking the idea of it being on Tuesday.
@Katherine - That'd probably be fine. I think the main reason they contacted me specifically about the meet-up is that I was the only one they knew about that was involved. :P I'm sure they'd love to hear from you. :)
@Ann - Yes, there is a dress code, but it doesn't mean you have to wear a dress or a skirt. You basically need to wear a black skirt/pants in all contest events (such as prelims, processional, semis), and they'll provide a t-shirt and a polo.
A dress code? I hope not! I am a girl, but I don't like dresses, skirts, or anything like that.
In the picture of the Nationals on the Bible Bee website, it looks like there was a dress code/guidelines. Was there anything about that this year that I just missed?
@Matthew, do you think it would be alright if I contacted the Streets directly? We really need someplace to meet for the Quizlet meet-up, and they haven't told me anything.
Look under "Promotions" in your inbox. For some reason, it always goes there for my family.
@Matthew: The Quizlet meeting is on Tuesday evening, so unless you wanted to combine the Quizlet and MV meeting, it would be much better if the MV meeting wasn't on Tuesday. Actually, combining them might work kind of well. It would make things simpler for those of us who are planning to go to both :). It would also be a great time for contestants to pray together before the competition. This is just a thought, though. It didn't occur to me until a few minutes ago, so if y'all don't think that it's a good idea, I won't be offended :).
I just sent an email to contest (at) biblebee (dot) org, respectfully asking them to consider increasing the number of passages (though not necessarily the time limit) and giving feedback on why this should be done. If anyone feels the same way about the Oral Round this year as I do, I would strongly encourage you to do the same ASAP.
@TornadoZach, they sent out an email update.
where was this three passage thing announced? I knew nothing about it.
The reason I'm asking, is I'm trying to coordinate getting something together with Daniel Street. They're trying to get us a separate room to meet in, since so many people show up. I'm guessing Wednesday may not be an option if we want a room, and I'm not surprised either, they're going to be extremely busy that day.
Question for those involved in the meet-up: Would we prefer to meet before prelims on Tuesday night, or on Thursday during Semi-Finals?
I have all the little verses memorized, it is just the HUGE one that I Haven't learned yet. I'm working on those. The Psalms are really hard.
Wow guys, we just passed up 20,000 verses on this group!!! Great job y'all!
@Kathrine: I totally feel your pain about the wait! My last name starts with A. =D
I'm not a fan of the new format either. The oral test was always my favorite part!
I didn't get around to memorizing any of the ER passages until after the test, but then I went into super crunch mode and got them all done before the full release came out. It wasn't fun, but it was my own fault for not doing it earlier. =)
@Cory, the only ER verses I memorized before the test was, Nehemiah 9:6 and Joshua 1:9 + all the John ones. :P
@Matthew- that'll probably be me :/ Next year I'll definitely be memorizing the early release, if they do that again this year- it would have helped me so much on the test!
@Grace- the usb drive on the lanyards was apparently for putting digital study materials on, and carrying around with you, so you could study wherever you go- but it wasn't really a practical idea...
I'm disappointed with the Oral Round format... They probably did it because of time constraints. My biggest problem is that now, for contestants who don't know all their verses, it's possible that they could be asked three passages they don't know. Which would be super embarrassing.
I agree with Audrey, the oral round is too short!
I'm guessing that each passage is worth 100 points?
Do any of you know what the USB Stick we received in the local BB box is for?
I think I am better at the writing part than the oral. I don't like speaking in front of people. Haas anyone ever gotten to the finals or semifinals?
I was so surprised when I heard that. Some longer passages will be nice, but it's about half the length it used to be :( Of course, it also means we won't have the eternal wait for orals! (I'm near the beginning of the alphabet, so I'm near the end :) )
Greatly surprised! Only three passages?!!!
I'm just wondering what lengths of passages they're going to be asking.
@ Cory, I agree with Katherine
I'm not sure how I feel about it...it just seems so short. I wouldn't really mind getting longer passages, though.
Wow! I'm quite surprised and.... sort of sad, actually. The oral round is my favorite part of all, and now it's so short. :(
November 17-20. What do you guys think of the new Oral Round format?
@Cory - I don't think we should specifically bar anyone from signing it; I mean, even if people didn't compete this year, they can still support and thank the BB crew. Just either make the poster really big or have people sign fairly small :) Also BTW, do you know who's in the stage delegation?
@Poster crew- James brought up a very good point on Quizlet- he asked if contestants who had aged out, or those who had competed in locals could sign it... I'm not sure- I think perhaps those who competed in locals should be allowed to sign it, but not those who aged out, since they hadn't taken any part in the competition this year- but, then again, it might be a good idea to let the alum sign it. Thoughts?
HELLO ZM! Glad you're on here. :D How are verses going for you?

Wait, yeah, why is the logo sideways?
@ Sarah (again) it is a good idea to study the passages outside john to but I don't go as in depth as I do in john
@ Sarah I mostly do words from john 1-12 but i also study the words on quizzlet 2015 Hebrew and Greek words
I am a junior
I live in Alaska(I am literally moving into north pole where there is a Santa who owns eight reindeer and reads all the letters to "Santa at the north pole")
I am 14
I'm wondering how to figure out what Greek words are important. Do you just look at ones in John 1-12 (i.e. light from John 8, resurrection from Jn11, and sheep, gate, shepherd, etc from John10)? Or should I look up words in cross references and memory passages? Also, should I study memory passages in addition to John 1-12? For example, know who's saying each thing, the context, and when it was written? Thanks!
I'm a Senior... as are the majority on here, I think.
I think I'd say most of us on here are Seniors :)

Is anyone a Senior here? I'm only nine!
Oh! It's sideways logo day on here too! (I'm sort of oblivious... ;P Jkish)
Lol Cory! xP I didn't start the group, and I think there's about nine admins! xP
I live in Houston Texas. What city do you live in????
I'm in Primary, and it is my first year tool. I think it's pretty neat that you guys are making a poster for Mr.U. Also, where do you guys live? I live in Texas, as I said in my first post.
YES IT IS, IV'E BEEN LISTENING TO PSALM 119.
@ZebraGirl, today's 3 weeks from the first day of Nationals. :)
Hey, to all who know, how long till Nationals?? I think that when it starts getting really close we should post announcements saying how long till the first day.
Hey!!!! I don't think that this site has all the wall posts uploaded. I am really confused.
Hey guys, not sure if anyone noticed, but I think we are first place in groups!!!!! I am in primary division.
@Matryoshka1 @ZebraGirl @Ben (lilly) - What divisions are you guys in?
I just remembered that I have to ask my mom first, but thanks!!
To copy and paste using a pc, you highlight by right clicking and dragging, and then you click ctrl+C. To paste, you click ctrl+V
this is my first year doing bible bee and I am in the nationals
Hannah: I will be doing nationals and this is my first year.
Brianna: how do I copy and paste into my browser??? you know, right???
Welcome, Matryoshka1, ZebraGirl and Lilly!!! We're so glad to have you here! How many years have you done BB? Will you be attending Nationals this year?
Matryoska: I use ESV as well. I use it because that's the version my church uses (which makes it very helpful for study/personal application) and because my dad decided to switch to it several years ago.
@ZebraGirl & Lilly: Mr. Upton is the executive director of the Shelby Kennedy Foundation. The poster should look something like this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xgscF2m7EBC_lzLxJibXBZUwHBD3ZNM1CkKZ6QjoBTo/edit (copy & paste the link into your browser). Lilly (I have a sister named Lily, btw!), that's very sweet of you to offer to do the poster. I think Courtney was going to do it, though. Thank you for offering!!! :)
I do mean translation, I guess I wasn't clear. I use ESV because my dad says that would be the easiest to memorize. I have some friends who use the NKJV because the words are not familiar to them so they won't stick in extra words.
BTW, what does the poster design look like???
Yes, I was wondering the same thing!! Is he some important person at Bible Bee or the Shelby Kennedy Foundation???
If you need, I can draw the poster. I love drawing and I am kind of good at it too. ( By the way, my dad's name is Ben, but mine is Lilly.)
Yes, I believe that she means translation. ESV stands for " English Standard Version". That's what she uses(and I use too!).
@Matryoshka1 By version do you mean Bible translation? I use KJV, cause that's what I've always used. What about you?
If you need any drawing utensils, my mom has a huge pack of sharpies with different hues(that is, if you need any).
It's been designed already- Courtney M. is going to draw it =D
There is a poster that is being designed????
@Ben(Lilly)- the poster is kind of a Memverse/ Quizlet/ ST project- the idea is that we're going to have all of the nationalists sign it, and then present it to Mr. U at the closing ceremony- keep it a secret from him though!! ;)
Matryoshka 1, you know what version I am using!!!
I will pray for your little brother also.
just for fun, what version are you using and why did you chose it?
I will pray for your brother, too
@Ben, no, I made a suggestion about the poster. Thanks hopefully he will get better soon!
@Grace, I will certainly pray for your little brother!
I read some posts from earlier and are you making a poster? Grace - I will be praying for you! My best friends name is Grace too!
@Grace- praying!
@Katherine- altho Matthew is sort of like a leader, since he's an admin ;P
Welcome Matryoshka1 and ZebraGirl! Like Everett said, we really don't have an official leader :) @Grace - Oh no! I'll be praying for him!
Could you all please pray for my little brother Cameron, he has croup really bad. Thank you!
Welcome to the group! We don't really have an official leader.
Hello, I am Matryoshka 1 sister. About Psalm 103 and Psalm 100:3,
I think that we should practice it saying for the long one "one oh three" and for the verse "one hundred three". I am not sure if we are going to audition. I would like to but there isn't much time left.
Hello me and my sister are newbies to this group (it is only our first year doing bible bee) and we would like to know who the leader is. it is kind of hard to tell
I am not sure how we will know? maybe if we are asked to say one of those and it is unclear which one we should ask
Go ahead and join - you're welcome! :)
Hi guys, can I be part of the group? My name's Lilly and I live in Texas. I'm nine.
I'm not auditioning - I'll be watching y'all in the GS though!
Haha! My dad either, Cory! xD
I'm going to do an audition- I would like to purchase a tripod first though- my Dad's not known for having the steadiest videos ;P
I'm hoping to do an audition, but I need to check and make sure it will be okay for me to make a commitment - we have a baby due in the time frame they gave.
I'm debating whether to audition or not...
@Cory - Definitely doing it! Probably tonight
I'll be doing a GS Audition...I'm going to do it today. :) Are you?
@Ann- the deadline to submit a video is November 2nd. I believe that in orals the judges will say 'Psalm 100, verse 3" or "Psalm 100, 3"- so it should be fairly clear :)
I might audition, but I'm not sure yet. Does anyone know what the deadline is?
I just noticed that Psalm 100:3 and Psalm 103 are both passages- how will we know which one they are asking us to recite?
How many of y'all are doing the GS audition?
Testify/Witness CR's: Isaiah 53:1-13?? :P Is there a way to change that?
Ok, I'll change it to Psalm 119:12 then! ;)
@Katherine- I think it would be fine to post about the poster on Quizlet!
I'm very fine with whatever verse is chosen (although my personal favorite is Psalm 119:12 :)). @Emily: Yay!!!
@Cory and Matthew - Do you want me to post some sort of announcement on Quizlet about the poster?
@Matthew - Hurray! But can you get them to email me too? I emailed them a long time ago about the Quizlet meet-up and they say they're still working on it. Being that there's only about a month left, I kind of need to know where we're meeting :/ @Cory - I'm fine with John 12:26, but I agree with Hannah, Psalm 119:12 would probably be best.
Haha! It'll probably come Monday or Tuesday, if my guess is correct.
@Hannah- I agree about the ST meeting! Psalm 119:12 is also a possibility, we just need everyone's response in order to decide *glares at everyone* ;P JK
Ohhh, I want that BB email to come soon!! Anyways, I think I do. XD
@Emily - that's good news!
@Cory, John 12:26 sounds good.
I'm fine with John 12:26, but my vote is for Psalm 119:12 "Blessed are You/art Thou, O Lord; teach me Your/Thy statutes!"
Are we doing a ST meetup? I don't really think it's necessary, since there's already a Quizlet and MV meetup and I think most, if not all, of the people on this group are either on Quizlet or MV.
@Cory: I think my mom read somewhere that they'd be sending out the orals info in the next BB email. I really can't wait for it either...!!!
Awesome!! Just to check, is everyone ok with John 12:26 on the poster?
Aha! The confusion is erased! I had a suspicion he might have been contacting me about something completely different earlier, and it was just me because he knew I was on ST and we were planning a meet-up. He just sent me another message in reply to the poster idea and gave me the thumbs-up on presenting it at the closing ceremony! We will get details shortly. :D
I really, really wish the BBHQ would tell us how much time we have for recitation, and how many passages :/
He appears to be confused as to the purpose of the meeting (BTW, are we actually going to have an ST meeting this year? I thought we were just going to have MV and quizlet meetings..) - he seems to think we're going to be quizzing each other or something. I would explain that these sorts of things are for prayer and socializing. Also, I would explain that altho there are some of the same people on the different communities, there are also many different people. Maybe you should put something at the end of the email saying: "By the way, is there any news about the poster idea?" I'm kind of confused too... :0
I just heard back finally from Mr. Street. However, I'm a little confused... he's just talking about the meet-up... not sure how to respond. Here's what he sent me.
Matthew, we would like to help you and the Scripture Typer community facilitate a meet-up at nationals. We have some options for you; but first I have a few questions to help me understand your needs better:
1. What is your goal for the size of this meeting?
2. Do you plan to coordinate with those interested prior to the meetup, or are you going to try to recruit interest at nationals?
3. Is this going to be mostly the senior division, or is this cross-division? Where is the focus?
4. What exactly is the different between scripture typer, quizlet, and memverse? Are you all one group, or is there different groups and different contacts here?
5. How long do you want to meet?
6. Is your goal to practice before prelims, or does it not matter to you if you meet after prelims?
7. Do you need anything specific besides a room? If I put you in a room where other people are/things are going on, will that be too distracting? Or does this require a lot of concentration/focus?
Looking forward to hearing back.
Daniel Street

National Bible Bee
@Audrey- you're right- we're not trying to sell the poster, or make it to appear that any of the websites have endorsed what we're doing, we just want to let them know that the poster was collaborated on by members of these communities :) BTW, are you an A. (second from the top on the seniors page)?
Hey y'all: Grace (W) suggested that I make all of the logos horizontal on the poster- what do you think? Do you guys like the poster better with the slanted logos, or the horizontal logos? I'm fine either way. https://docs.google.com/document/d/15lcwPMKEvNhimCQBE8WjivL2NgURzLqU9TEYwhL34W4/edit?usp=sharing
I think it's alright, because we are not trying to publish them or use them for any kind of advertisement.
My mom showed me the poster design. I could probably do it, though all the logos would be kind of hard to draw. Here's a question - aren't the logos copyrighted? Would it be alright for us to use them without permission?
Yes it is a bummer mathew
I am not Zach.B unless Zach.B lives in alaska :)
@sarah i actualy take a big verse and a small verese each day i consider a big verse 5 verses or longer but this is my first time at nationals
ONLY four weeks! Goodness gracious! That time just flew by!
There appears to be a lack of communication here... xP (Although it is only 4 weeks to Nats.)
If it starts getting too close to Nats and they haven't gotten back to you, maybe you should email them again.
@Matthew - no, they haven't emailed me either... I was hoping they'd emailed you :P
I was actually wondering if Katherine had any more news... I haven't gotten any more emails in the week that I was gone.
@Audrey- No he's not. Zach B. has an account named 'Zach' xD Very creative.
@TornadoZach: Are you Zach B.?
@Emily - you're right, I checked the rulebook and there is no time limit for starts and pauses for the oral rounds. Sorry about the confusion :P :)
@Matthew- the only update that I know of about the poster is that Zach wants to be part of the poster delegation. I was actually going to ask you the same question, since you're the one in contact with the Streets ;D
Yeah, that's right. In Game Show they've changed the rules up though. Haha :P
I'm pretty sure it's always been 30 seconds to start a verse and 10 seconds to pause both in Semis and Finals but never for prelims...? @Matthew Very true about "just enough" time =P
However, although there will be no direct penalty for long pauses during the Oral Round, more than a few seconds' pause will probably cost you points in the long run anyways - they only give you a little more than "just enough" time to quote the passages.
Emily, yes, that's correct. There is no time requirement for each individual passage in Orals, just for the entire test. The Challenge Rounds have the start-time and pause-time limits partly because they have no other time limit.
I thought there was a time limit for starts in both oral rounds and final rounds, but in the oral rounds you were allowed more time (like 30 seconds versus 10 seconds for the final rounds?). However, I am not positive for this year and you'd have to check the rule book :)
I thought the 30 seconds to start thing was only for the final rounds...?
@Matthew, maybe you should put Psalm 119:103-105!
Any updates on the poster thing?
@Sarah, yes, they usually will hold up a sign while you're reciting that says either "5 mins" or "2 mins" or something like that. I can't remember exactly (I'm usually just a little nervous :D) but I think you may get several signs held up i.e. halfway through and almost done. Keep in mind that there is a time limit as to how long you are allowed to pause both before you start reciting and in the middle of a verse, and there probably won't be any timer/warning for that. If you're really worried about time, I would suggest having someone time some verses while you practice so that you can get a feel for how long it will take you to recite a passage, and also how fast you need to recite to fit the right number of passages/verses in the allotted time (which hasn't been released yet for this year). But no, there's usually no timer, and it's mostly guesswork. Hope this helps!

@Sarah - In the past, they have held up a sign telling you that you have two minutes left.
In previous years, has there been a timer at orals so that you can see how long you have left? Or do they just tell you time's up? Do you get a warning that you have a certain amount of time (say 30 seconds) left if you haven't started yet? Thanks for all the study tips!

There are ~15 super long passages that probably won't be asked in Orals (Isaiah 53:1-12, Acts 17:19-31, etc.). Other medium-long passages would be the Psalm passages that are around 10 verses. I would consider any passage that fits on two cards to be relatively short. The idea of memorizing the short passages first is based on the fact that in Orals, a one verse passage is worth the same amount of points as a nine verse passage. There are also more "short" passages so you have a higher chance of being asked one in Orals.
I would like to ask the 'veterans' of nats what they consider a 'short' vs. 'long' passage? Short being one card? Long being more than that? Sorry, I'm just trying to get it all figured out.
@Ann: If you plan to only memorize the shorter passages, I would say focus on the overlapping and those you already know/love, so you can get more out of it. This is only my second year at Nationals (I'm definitely not an expert!), but I think the longest passage they asked in Pre-elimn's was about 11 verses, give or take. If you're going to memorize all of them, memorize the longest ones first, because those take the most time to get good at them. Don't leave all the short ones until the end, though! Try to spread it out, so, for example, you don't memorize all the James ones on one day and get mixed up with them.
I did it by putting all my verses in bags by verse number and worked from 1 verse passages up
On memorizing shorter passages first, how long exactly is short? Five verses and less? Ten verses and less? Thank you!
@Zach I do the same thin except not on rings but use neon flash cards to differentiate
Thank you Rachel and Cory!
@Grace (Wanliss)- here is the link to the official BB page with all the contestants: http://www.biblebee.org/page.php?name=nationals.natscores
@Zach, I find Quizlet very helpful as well!!
http://nationalbbprofiles.blogspot.com/p/home-page.html
Could someone give me the link to the National Bible Bee Contestant Profile thing, I can't find it! Thank you!
Reading through cards is a great idea- thanks!
I put my cards on rings and divide them into a word perfect pile, an in process pile, and a not memorized pile. I also read through each pile on a regular basis to be familiar with them all. I take a few daily from the not memorized pile and put them in process. when I recite a verse word perfect I mark it,
5 marks put a card in the word perfect.
Hope that helps
They discontinued them because they felt like they were repeating themselves, and could communicate better by emails.
Does anyone know what happened to the webinar?
I've heard that it's better to memorize the shorter passages first, since that's what'll most likely be used for the oral round, but I was wondering if Seniors should memorize senior passages first and then the others, or just do shortest first? (And the same for Juniors.) Thanks!
Thank you for those ideas! :D I might have them printed on card stock.
@TornadoZach: What everyone else said :) One way to practice is to have someone call out a reference, and as soon as you hear it you have to say the first phrase/sentence. Once you get good try doing it backwards.
@TornadoZach: I use Space Race on Quizlet to remember the first few words. I also sometimes look for math problems in the reference (ex: 8=2+6 and Deuteronomy 8:2-6 is a passage) :). Another thing that helps is telling a sibling that you have trouble remembering a reference :).
@Ann: I always send mine down to FedEx to have them printed on card stock. It's not too expensive, and I find that the cardstock is a lot easier to work with. Also, I don't have to worry about using up my whole stock of paper and the whole printer cartridge! =D
@Ann: Some of us made smaller cards by copying and pasting the text from the BB webpage onto smaller boxes, so that's always an option. (or you might be able to use someone else's if you use the same version) But yes, that is a lot of paper. =P
Thank you guys! It looks like I'll need to print out physical cards for memorizing too, I just never did, because it seemed like way too much paper to deal with, but it sounds like it helps!
@TornadoZach I agree with @Hannah and @Katherine_BB. I have found Quizlet to be very helpful
@All- Zach B. is willing to go onstage with the poster 'crew'
@Ann: As far as the self-correction, I do that too, and the only thing I can really say is that if you do it while you're reviewing, then mark it wrong (if you mark on your cards) and go over the whole passage, or that section of it, again.
@TornadoZach: One other thing that might be helpful is Quizlet.com; I've used that a lot for references.
@Ann: I think for the self correction it is mostly just a matter of focus and stuff. For me, whenever I quote and self correct I always put the passage in the wrong pile so I'll work on it more.
@TornadoZach: Come up with silly things :)
For example, how my brother and I remember Romans 10:17 is that the 1's and 7 are both "listening" to the big 0. My brother says he remembers Psalm 23:4 because the 4 is kinda like a valley. Revelation 4:8 because there's four creatures and the the '8' is the eyes (of course, you do need to keep in mind that there's Rev. 4:11 as well). Hopefully that's helpful, and helps you think of things that work for you!
do you have any ideas to remember the references?
There are many factors to consider. Unfortunately we don't know how many passages they're going to ask us in the time limit. As a general rule, always start over if you make a mistake, unless the passage is upwards of 10-15 verses. The only exception is if you feel that you're running out of time. However, if you speak quickly you will have plenty of extra time, so don't worry too much about it. Every word in Orals counts, even if it's just one word. For the self-correcting problem, it is mostly a matter of practice and focus. I'm sure you'll get it down soon :)
Sorry to interrupt the poster thread! Do you guys have tips on keeping self corrections under check? For example, I'll say something like "For God so loved the world that whoever believes in him- no wait that's wrong- that he gave he only Son etc.," and then I end up getting points deducted for skipping words AND adding words. I could start over, but I'm worried it will happen at the end of a really long passage or after using a start over already. Are there strategies for this, or is it just a matter of practice and focus? Thank you!
@Cory - Probably, if she's the one making the poster :) I think it would be kind of hard to get a group vote on here.
@Katherine- that's another possibility. Maybe we should let Courtney decide?
@Grace- BB hasn't officially released that info yet :(
How many passages will we have to recite in orals?

Thank you guys so much!
@Buddy: I don't think BB has released that information yet.
@All: Another good verse for the sign might be Romans 10:17
@Ann: You can find the rule book for this year in your family control panel on the website. @Buddy: I don't know if they've released that information yet.
@Hannah the verses will overlap and I think u were the reason we r now second
Here is the link to the 2015 Rulebook: https://www.biblebee.org/userfiles/annualdocuments/Rule%20Book%202015.pdf
@Ann: No, your questions are not silly :). Yes, you can ask for as many prompts as you want, but points will be deducted. Yes, you say the reference before and after each passage. I don't know where you can find the rulebook. It might be on your dashboard (Family Control Panel), or you can just try googling it (but make sure that it's the 2015 rulebook :)).

This is my first year going to Nationals, so my questions are probably kind of silly, but are you allowed prompts (with deduction, of course) at the oral rounds of Nationals, and do you say the reference before and after the passage? And also, does anyone know where I can find the rulebook? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the site. Thank you!
Does anyone know how many passages we'll be asked in the oral rounds this year, and how long we'll have to say them?
@Hannah - yes, when you select the collections, all the verses that you've already memorized will be counted as memorized, even for the other group. Hope that made sense!
I joined the Hopeful's group; will it automatically add the verses that I've memorized in this group that overlap with hopefuls to the total?
Everyone who is not in the National Bible Bee hopefuls group- please join!! We're trying to maintain our spot of second, but we keep slipping back to third!
Ok, thanks Matthew- I just got the email.
Lol. I did already sent it when you posted that, but if you'd like, I'll forward you the conversation so far. :)
It's hard to get anything out of Matthew... XD
Your second comment made more sense to me too!!!
If it makes you feel better, Emily, your second comment made sense to me. ;)
Lol! I was kinda afraid of that! xP
Your first comment made more sense to me than your second one XD
Meaning "rather than" not "along side of", if that makes any sense. I'm not trying to get more than one verse on the board, is what I'm trying to say. =P
I think John 12:26 would be a great verse for the board. I'm fine with any other one too, though. xD
Matthew- could you bcc me to the email if you didn't already send it?
The Streets are the National Event Coordinators; basically, the hosts for Nationals. :) I removed your post.
Nevermind...Looks like it was cancelled.
I was unable to get on the webinar today. Was there anything of importance talked about today?
OK, so I'm putting my vote in for John 12:26- it's short and consice and really communicates the message we want t get across.
@Matthew, that's awesome! This just might work!
@Katherine- I think you're the only one who can delete your posts (you can just call me Cory, BTW :))
I emailed Daniel and Katlyn Street; Daniel just responded and said they might be able to help! He asked me what exactly happened last year, and I'm not sure what to answer to that, so Katherine, do you mind if I give them your email so you can tell them about it?
@Everett: I like John 12:26; John 8:31-32 might be good, too.
@Rachel Irene: Yeah, Everett told me last night... XD
Katherine: There is a Seth at the Bible bee HQ, but the Seth on this group is not the Seth at BB. xD
@EstherbenSimonides, I've actually had that exact problem. And like Katherine said, if the passage is in a collection you created you can add it back. If not, the only way to add it back without deleting the whole collection is through the app (as far as I know). Good luck!
@Cory - My suggestions would be John 1:12 or John 12:26.
@CoryBryce: I think Seth is the guy who typically answers the phones at BB; he's part of their staff or something. @Hannah: XD
@Matthew- I definitely appreciate you willingness to help with bringing all those things for this project! That sounds good.
@Anna- I personally don't really care what color they are- I think it may be nice to have a colorful sign- it's up to you what colors you want to bring :) I should be able to bring a blue one, as well as possibly a lime green one and a pink one.(hopefully xP)
@BBJunior- Thanks- we're trying to keep the cost down as low as possible though, so if people have markers already, then we should be set.
Ok, guys- Bible verse for the poster- do we want to use Psalm 119:17-24 like Katherine suggested, or do we want to use John 20:30-31 since it was the theme verse for this year?(or another one?)
If you put the Sharpies in a plastic bag they shouldn't leak everywhere ;)
Do y'all want black, blue, or just random colors for sharpies? I think that I might be able to bring some.
I haven't emailed them yet... :P I guess I probably will tomorrow... I think we have some colored Sharpies, we'll have to remember to bring them.
I know you can get like a 10 pack of Sharpies for like 7 bucks at Walgreens
@Hannah- that's fine- I should be able to bring 1-2 sharpies. We just need a couple other people to bring some too. @Katherine- I see that there ISNA Seth in this group, but who is he? If they tell us that we can't go on stage and we decide to put it outside the room like you said, then yes, it would be wonderful if you could bring cookies :)
We do have some colored Sharpies, but we flying, and I don't think my dad would want to bring it (we don't want Sharpie stains all over our clothes! Yikes!) in case it leaks.
It's okay Annalise; I didn't realize till you said it! Now that you say that, though, I'm realizing what I said sounds very similar to what Katherine said...
@CoryBryce: I could probably bring cookies or something - whatever you need :)
@EstherbenSimonides: If it's a collection that you've created, then you can just re-add it to the collection or collections that you had it in (just click on your collection, then click "add or import verses"). If it's from one of the collections from this group, then I don't think you can do that; if you really wanted that verse to stay in the collections it was in, then you would need to delete and re-add those collections, but then any verses in those collections that you've memorized wouldn't be counted as memorized anymore. It's probably best to just import the verse back into your account separately. Hope this helps!
If I accidentally deleted a passage from my collections, is there any way to put it back?
You know, Seth is in this group; we could just ask him... :P
Good reminder Hannah! @Annalise, I think that the only thing that you can do for right now for the poster is to bring the 30 cents.
Matthew!!! Did you email them?
sorry Hannah, that sounded like I copied you! :P
Can I help at all with the poster? I'm totally willing to contribute 30 cents.
And I'm totally willing to contribute 30 cents (Mental note: put some change in the suitcase)
I know this probably obvious, but if we do end doing cookies, peanut butter cookies would NOT be good idea in a public place. I don't think anyone with severe allergies would eat something like that, but sometimes, even being near peanuts can cause an allergic reaction. I don't want anyone to end up in the hospital! Just a friendly reminder :)
OK, thanks for letting us know @Katherine- hopefully it won't be that way this year (Mr Upton doesn't seem like too scripted of a guy, but you never know :\.) I do like the idea of putting it out and surprising them with it. hopefully they'll tell Matthew we can, but they may not. We can discuss alternatives if they tell us no- one other thing we could do is give it to Mr. U at the square dance after the coding ceremony. I like the cookies idea, but (a) we would have to have someone get them (and I would fell bad having the Minicas get them, since they are bringing so much already xD), and (b) we'd have to make sure a hungry contestant didn't come along and eat them :P
I do like Psalm 119:17-23 - I would like to see what everyone else says though.
Oh, and I'd totally be willing to help buy a poster board or anything else :)
Okay, sorry about my previous post, I removed it, but didn't think it worked, so I posted a correction... :/
Anyways, I thought I'd let you know that there was something like this planned last year, and although it didn't work out, I emailed GraceAnn W to ask if we could present it to them on stage, and she said that probably wouldn't work because the Opening and Closing Ceremonies are scripted down to the second. (Sorry if I'm throwing cold water on everyone's ideas, but I thought you might want to know. It may have changed this year... who knows? :)) What she suggested was to get some sort of easel or something and put it up outside the room they use as an office or HQ. We could all chip in and buy cookies or something for them, too. :) As far as a verse, the only good one I can think of is verse 18 of Psalm 119:17-24. I'd put it here, but it's probably not any of y'all's versions :D
I would bring markers, but I don't have may ordinary colored sharpies- I think I have one black one that works and one blue one. XP
Oh, I forgot, someone needs to bring (permanent?) markers to be able to sign the poster with. Any volunteers? (Sorry if it seems like I'm not doing much xD)
@Matthew- actually, if you want to, you could contact the Streets- it might make it easier... it's up to you. From the best I can tell, poster board costs about 3(ish) dollars, so if there is ten of us that bring 30¢, that should about cover it for you. @Everyone- anyone want to add anything? Ideas?
@Emily- XP I'm fine with speaking onstage, if the other people that are going on don't want to. I would probably say something like: "Mr. Upton, we wanted to give this to you and the rest of the BB staff to thank you for all your hard work to make this competition so great"- or at least something to that effect. @Matthew- yes, if you could email HQ that would be great- but I would email the customer service staff at info@bb- tell them to either not tell Mr. U and as many higher ups as possible- if they want, they can tell him that there will be a group of contestants making a presentation, but not to tell him what our presentation is ;). @all- any ideas on a Bible verse for the poster?
@Cory: Okay. I think that I meant that I would want to go if everyone from MV went up. @Emily and all: It would be *very* nice if we could keep this a surprise for Mr. Upton, but my guess is that that's going to be just about impossible. With this many people who know about it, it's very likely that this will somehow get around to Mr. Upton that we're doing this. So I think that it's okay if someone emails BBHQ, since they're probably going to find out about it anyway.
@Matthew, Um, good. I think. xPxP Okay, we'll plan on you guys getting the poster board and Courtney drawing. I'm sure we all (or a lot of us) can pitch in on the cost for the board. Could you guys bring markers too? About contacting, if you're willing to do that as well, I kind of doubt anyone is going to be upset about that. :P The one thing I don't know is if they all wanted to ask just the staff so Mr. U didn't know, but I'm not exactly sure how that would work. @Cory, Lol! I hope at least all of us will have met you by then, and know who you are! I don't suppose it really matters anyway though. :D Do you want to be the one to do the talking? Because it was your idea? If not, I know that *cough* MATTHEW would also do a great job. =P So far we have Cory and Matthew that would for sure like to be part of the delegation, Audrey and Courtney wouldn't mind being part, and Hannah can be back up. Anyone else?
Emily, you have a strange way of convincing me into doing things. =P I'm sure our family can work out bringing the posterboard and Courtney drawing the design and everything. Would you guys want me to contact Mr. Upton, since I already know him, or someone else? I've met the Streets (National Event Coordinators) too.
As far as we are concerned, the only difference between Pre-Release, Remaining Release, and even Local passages is the categorization; and the only reason for this categorization is the release date and competition purposes. There will be no distinction at Nationals.
Is there some distinction to be made concerning "Pre-Release Passages' and 'National Passages'? My question is, aren't they just simply all counted as 'National Passages'? Or are they looked upon as a different category of verses?
Because I have noticed that they have been frequently organized and classified in 2 different categories.
Excuse me- when I said '@Audrey', I meant '@Paisley'- sorry, I was getting confused :)
@Anna- you said 'I don't want to go up on stage by myself either' (which obviously doesn't necessary mean that you want to go on stage, but means that you would consider it :P) Btw, do you think anyone will know me if I go up?? XD
@Audrey- the reason that I was singling Mr. Upton out is because he is the executive director, so we should put him as a name(if that makes since). I really like the Bible verse idea- maybe John 20:31 or Daniel 12:23- @All, suggestions?
@Everett- Lol- we all need to talk about this as well, but we should probably just say something like "we appreciate all the hard work that you and the BB staff have done to make this competition happen- so thank you"(like Hannah said). Obviously that can be expounded upon, but that's my thought at the moment.
@Courtney and Hannah- ok, good, I'll keep that in mind!
@All, so we need to contact HQ about this, and finalize what we are going to say on stage AND who will be going on stage. Ok everyone, add input!
@Cory_Bryce: Great job on the sign! I only have a couple of suggestions. What if the text at the bottom read, "Thank you BBHQ!" with a Bible verse either written out before it or just the reference? That would include Mr. Upton without singling only him out. Another option would be writing all of the staff at BBHQ's names out... Let me know what you think!
So.. are you guys just going to say a few words up there? Or give like a 5 min. speech? :P
If you really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really needed someone to go up on stage than I can do it (I'm thinking you won't need me unless everyone gets sick from reviewing/cramming too much; I'm your emergency backup ;)). You don't seem to have that problem, though! However, you do need to keep in mind that you have to have someone to say something like "This poster is in appreciation of all the hard work HQ has done, etc., etc."
@Nate: Here are some tips and ideas I wrote down that I thought you might find helpful (sorry this post is going to be so huge): Memorization tips:
-One thing I've kind of noticed is that, after I've used one method of memorizing for a while, I'll slow down on how fast I can memorize. Sometimes the novelty of your memorization system helps you memorize faster. :P
-For verses that have long lists of things (*cough* Galatians 5:13-26 *cough*), try drawing pictures, or coming up with silly sentences and acronyms. The crazier it is the more likely you are to remember it.
-Something I'm trying to do more of this year is color coat things. This is good for those tricky words that are really hard to keep straight, such as will/shall, to/unto, and that/which or introductions to dialogue. Even if I don't actually color something, if I decide that the phrase "answered and said unto them" is red, whereas just "said unto them" is yellow, I can just picture the color in my mind.
-Listening to a recording of a verse (or better yet, recording it yourself in your own voice!) is really helpful because you can just put on some headphones and listen to a verse while doing dishes, or vacuuming. Even if you are doing something where you can't focus on listening to the verses, as long as it's not distracting and you can just having it going the the background, it will still give you an amazing head start on a passage.
-You might have heard it before, but reading through the verses you want to memorize the next day right before you go to sleep works really well.
-If a verse is just not sticking no matter what, take a break, maybe don't look at that verse again till tomorrow. Usually when you try again you'll memorize it way fast. =P
-Understand what a verse is really saying! If you actually understand it instead of just memorizing random words, you'll memorize it much better (and more importantly, be able to apply it to you life!)
Tips of if you aren't going to finish memorizing all your verses:
-If you're not going to finish memorizing all your verses, make sure to be familiar with the other passages. On the test in previous years they'll ask questions about the memory passages, and if you're familiar with it you'll be much more likely to get the questions right.
-Prioritize your verses, making sure you have the shorter ones down well. While of course they can (and have) asked long passages in the preliminary orals, they typically save the really long ones for the final rounds. Last year they asked all short passages and then one long passage in orals. I of course can't say for sure one way or the other, but usually since they have a time limit on orals, they can't ask a whole bunch of really long passages.
Review tips:
-Make sure you have a good review system! There's not much more frustrating than spending a long time memorizing a verse, and then forgetting it before you review it. For me, if I make sure to quote a verse out loud as soon as I memorize it, I'll have it memorized better and longer than if I wait a while before I quote it. Even if I don't review it again for a while, it just sticks better.
-The basic idea of the review system I've been trying to use is I have three piles of cards that are varying levels of memorized. The ones I have a lot of mistakes on I'll review more, then the ones I only make a few mistakes on, and then ones I've quoted perfectly I'll review maybe once a week.
-Having someone mark on your cards the places where you make mistakes is helpful, because when you go back to try and perfect a card, you can see right where you need to work, and don't spend all your time studying a part you have down well.
@Cory: I'm not sure, but I don't think that I said that :). If everyone went on stage, then I would want to go, of course. But, although it sounds fun, I think that I would be really nervous and probably smile too much :). Also, not enough people know who I am for me to go up on stage :). (And I apologize too anyone who is bothered by my overuse of :)s in this post :D).
Oh, and like Audrey, if you need another person for going on stage, I'd be fine with that.
@Audrey- well, we'll see what everyone else says, but I'm sure that would be fine! @Courtney- ok, great! Just so you know, it takes a minute or two for the system to remove wall posts.
I also would be fine with going on stage if u need another person. If not, that's fine. @Cory: I'll check out your design. I'm sure it's great!
Now it's gone! I don't think I'm very familiar with the way this message wall works...
Oops. I tried to remove that second comment, but it's not leaving. :-/
I would be happy to draw something for the poster, if y'all so decide. :) We should bring it in that case, so I wouldn't have to draw it hurriedly or on the spot. I'll ask my mom to let us see your design, Cory, since we have restricted Internet.
@Hannah- it's actually kind of surreal that Nat's is so close.…. Looking forward to meeting those I don't know, and re-meeting those that I know :)
Thanks Emily and Hannah! (Apparently someone was trying to tell me that quizlet is better than ST or MV, because the made a (suggested) edit in which the MV and ST logos made a greater than sign which opened up to the quizlet logo- needless to say, I rejected the changes ;P) @Emily, yes, I believe this both Matthew and I want to be part of the stage delegation- I not sure, but I think that Anna had mentioned possibly wanting to be a 'go on stage person' as well- I'm not positive on that though. Do you want to email HQ, or do you want someone else to do that? @Matthew- Can you show my poster design to Courtney to see if she thinks she can draw it? @Zach, you should be on ST more.
See you all very soon! :O
Looks good Cory! @All: Let me know if there's anything I can do to help :)
@Rahel, I think someone is going to ask permission... We just don't know who or when! xD
@Cory, Ohh, I think that looks pretty cool! Nice work! I have no opinion on whether or not we put the group logos on the top or not, I think it'll be nice either way. :P I'd love to hear what other people think! And I think Matthew will be great at heading this up. xD xP You (Cory) and Matthew both sounded interested in being part of our stage delegation, right? Is anyone else interested?
How are we going to be able to go up on the stage to present it? I mean, is someone going to ask permission to do that?
Ok, so I don't know if this is exactly what we're looking for, but here is what I designed. We can remove the logos up to if that's what we decide(again, this is not set in stone, just to give ideas): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xgscF2m7EBC_lzLxJibXBZUwHBD3ZNM1CkKZ6QjoBTo/edit?usp=sharing
I just realized that we still need to nominate 3-5 people to go on stage to give them the poster. :P
Ok, if I design the poster, what I'm thinking(obviously, if I design the poster, we don't have to use my design), is that the BB logo will be on the middle, and at the bottom it will say something like "thank you Mr Upton and BB staff!" My question is, do we want to have the different logos along the top?(quizlet, MV, ST, etc.) Suggestions?
Great ideas everybody! I like the idea of having Courtney draw it(because although I've never seen her work, if everyone else thinks it's good, then Im sure it is) I should be able to design a poster later today- I'll probably put a link here later today if I get around to making Google doc of my idea. I don't think it's a good idea to put it on the fb page though, because Mr Upton and/or the BB staff are probably on there pretty frequently. Perhaps the idea about the processional will work- I actually would not have thought of that. Now is someone(let me just say that it will not be me) going to contact info@bb.org to get them to let us go onstage to do this, or will we talk to someone at nats? Aw, Matthew, but you're so good at being a leader!! If Matthew doesn't want to do it, then I nominated Emily since she seems to being doing a good job of filtering out good and bad ideas. @Carissa- oh,alright. It's probably better to just post a link :P
@Cory: I used html code to do it... I don't know why it didn't work... Probably cause ST doesn't allow it... @Emily: It doesn't look like you forgot anything. Thanks for laying that out clearly for us! :) @Matthew: Cause you're a decisive person who knows how to lead...! :P
And why do I have to be the one to organize things?? xP
I was actually going to suggest Courtney if we were going to draw anything for the poster. I'm sure she'd enjoy that. :)
Audrey: I'm with ya. I don't know what I'm going to do about MV; some minutes I want to join, others I don't. The main reason I want to join, though is to say I joined and I don't think that's a good reason. I don't need something else online I should check; and if I sign up, I know I will feel the urge procrastinate about studying and check MV. Don't apologize anyone, you're excited about this, and you just want to share your ideas, which is EXCELLENT!!!
Google doc link (if it doesn't automatically work, copy & paste into your browser:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/13zyqf52CtiRDVYjiBQxbW3r7QXEfb5cAoFaMUOrpAAc/edit?usp=sharing
I really should get on ST more, shouldn't it?
Cory! No need to feel bad. :P It's fine to hash things out! If you're okay with this being open to all peoples, let's go from there... I see what you mean about it being crazy hard to give everyone a chance to sign it. Paisley's idea will work great to help give more people an opportunity. Another thing, I don't know how practical this will be though, is to bring it to the processional and ask people to sign it when they come in or something... The other things we need to decide on are, who's going to bring it (and the same person, or someone else to bring markers. I personally think we should do blue markers xP but that can be open to discussion too), who's going to design it, what kind of design and/or text do we want on it, who will give it to them, and when! And maybe something else I missed.
Actually, I just realized that your link doesn't work...
BTW, how did you link text? (I only know how to do that in Microsoft Word xD)
Ok, thanks Carissa :D I just feel bad because all this discussion is going on... Ok, I really am fine though with getting everyone to sign it :) I think that the BBHQ will really like this!
@Cory: DUDE! Why are you apologizing?? *facedesk* Sorry, but there really isn't anything to apologize for! That's a good point, but I think we can figure out some way to overcome that... @Nate: The google study document for National Bible Bee qualifiers. It's really helpful.
Google Study Doc 2015
I hope you don't mind if I add to the discussion. :) I really like the idea of giving a thank you sign to all of the staff. Maybe instead of drawing a picture (or in addition to) write on it "Thank you BBHQ Team!" I agree that it should be to the entire team. One way to get lots of people to sign it (maybe even the parents) is walk around asking them if they have signed it. We could maybe even post on the Facebook page letting them know that they should sign a thank you sign for the team at Nationals, so that they (the families) are prepared. Just some thoughts. :). @Audrey: No, you're not weird! I feel the same way about having an account I wouldn't use. :)
@Emily H.: Thanks! I look forward to seeing you there as well.
@biblebee: da what doc? Never heard of it.
@Everyone- Sorry for sparking this conversation.... I really like Emily's idea, my only qualm is that the BBers that don't know about it will fell left out (how will we let everyone know without mixing some people- that's why making it exclusively MV makes it easier BUT of we decide that we want to try to get everyone to sign it, that's fine by me.) I do think that acknowledging the staff is an excellent idea, however. Sorry of I am creating dissension here... I definitely appreciate the input from Audrey and Hannah though.
@Audrey: If you don't like the Memverse review system, you could join to do the quizzes... ;D =P
@Nate: That's awesome that you qualified! =) I would agree with what Emily said about studying. Are you on the Nats study doc? It has to do with the studying aspect. @Hannah: You're not being rude. No concern there. My apologies for discussing this on ST...not MV. Most people aren't on MV these days so this was the best way to get hold of many of them. @Emily: I agree. We should also include the staff in this thank you. :)
I know this whole idea was originally Cory's though... :-}
@Everett: I don't know why, but I don't think I could bring myself to make an account for something that I wouldn't use. But I'm just weird. :)
@Hannah: No you don't sound rude. :D I think the only reason there's any question about who gets to sign it is because it started out as a MV meeting activity and then turned into something else (and right now this is probably the best place to get ahold of a lot of MVers because they're not on MV that much right now xPxP). One more thought, could it say "Thank you Mr. Upton and Staff"? Because they've done a lot of work too, and it wouldn't be possible with all their help as well.
@Nate: Ahh, that's so exciting you qualified! One thing I'd suggest, if you haven't done this already, for making sure you get the verses done in time, is calculate how many you'll need to memorize each day to get done on time (and it's usually a good idea to leave yourself at least a few days to review). If that seems like way too much to do, I'd say to try it for at least a few days. Give it a good try. You might be shocked at how much you can do (I was:). If you just can't though, that's fine! Don't worry about it too much. There's a bunch of tips on if you won't be able to finish all the verses, as well. :) Looking forward to meeting you, Lord willing, next month!
VVV I hope that didn't sound rude or anything. Just my thoughts; I don't want to sound like I'm trying to pressure anyone to do anything because that is SO not how I feel about this.
I like Emily's idea as well!
If you don't mind me butting in... As a non-MV'er, I'm fine with it just being a Memverse thing. However, if you do that, if would be nice if you talked about it on *MV* not on ST. And if only MV'ers sign it, it probably shouldn't be a public thing, so all the non-MV'ers or unactive MVers aren't going "whaaaa? How come I didn't hear about this?" Of course, this might sorta be a problem regardless of how you do it.
If you decide to let everyone sign it, you could also write something on the bottom like "Much thanks to the Memverse community for this awesome idea!" so then the credit goes to MVers.
I feel like I should join now, just to say I joined...
@biblebee: This is my first year doing the Bible Bee in general, so really all I'm doing this year is trying to get the hang of things. I didn't expect to qualify, so I didn't memorize the pre-release passages until after I found out, so that put me behind, and then working at a summer camp, so yeah...
Wow, large discussion going on here... :P Having it open to all contestants is probably best. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to have a place for MVers, a place for quizlet users, etc... But whatever is fine with me. @Emily: Oh, yeah! If Courtney is able to do that, that would be great. But I understand if she's not able to do so.
I like Emily's idea! It's probably best to give everyone an opportunity to sign it. @Audrey - You should just make a Memverse account and come anyway :)
And I would not be one of those people! just so you all know. xD
Just my thought are that, if it's to thank Mr. U, it would be pretty cool if it was open to everyone. And then maybe you could have representatives from each group give it to him. xP jkish
I kind of like the idea of doing a poster not specific to MV, if it's to thank Mr. U, and especially since y'all are talking about it on ST!!! xD Ohh, but what about this. Have a section where all the MV meeting people sign it, and then a part for the Quizlet people, and then if they're going to have a ST meeting, and also a part for anyone else who wants to sign it. That might get a little interesting when you have people two or all three of those groups though. I know Courtney is a really good artist, but I don't know if she's too busy right now.
If you know what I mean. :p That sentence came out a little mixed up.
ServantOfTheKing: You don't really have to worry about it. :) The point is that Mr. Upton gets thanked for all his work.
Cory, it would be fine to have a memverse exclusive board, but if we're going to present it in front of all the poor contestants who have missed out on the wonders of memverse, that wouldn't be doing all things with love. I know what it feels like to be in the "outside" circle, and it isn't really fun. If we want to make this board a public thing, we should open it up to all contestants. If we want to have our own board (memverse-ers only), we can do that too--provided someone volunteers and coordinates the whole thing. Does that make sense?
@Anna- I was going to actually say something to that effect concerning Mr. Upton. @Audrey- Ok, thanks! :) I'm *ok* at drawing(although I have to have something in front of me to look at while I'm drawing it), but I'm sure that there's someone much more artistic than me that can do it. Sigh perhaps we should open it up to all people... or have two boards like Carissa suggested- one for MV, and if everyone else wants to, a board for them to sign??? IDK, just throwing ideas around... where's someone with a take charge attitude when we need them?(
Matthew!
):P
I could be wrong about this, but Mr. Upton might not have time to read all that we say :). I think that we should open up signing the board to all Bible Bee contestants :). However, you really don't have to be active on MV, and it only takes a few minutes to join :). @Matthew: If you want, you could bring the board, and someone artistic could draw the BB logo on it (BTW, I am NOT suggesting that I be the one to draw the BB logo or whatever...I'm horrible at drawing! :)). It would probably be good if we did have someone who is decisive and a natural leader to be in charge of all this (again, NOT me ;)).
@Cory: No, I don't think you sounded mean at all! :) I completely get it! I would join MV if I time to do it (which, sadly, I don't).
@Carissa: Yes! I've been thinking about that (that Mr. Upton is in this group) this whole time!!
Ok, that makes me feel better :p (you desk must be fairly worn down in one spot! JK)
Cory! Don't apologize! You didn't cause any problems! *facedesk*
Sorry for causing problems :C
Y'know...I just remembered something...Mr. Upton is on here... :P Though I doubt he does much on here... ;) @All: Maybe two boards...? IDK... We just need someone who's really decisive to take charge of this all! :P Anyway. I'm going to post on the announcements the time and all... @Matthew: Won't you please, pretty please, bring it? *pitiful face* :P If you're not able to, I understand. :)
@Allison, that might be a good idea... I don't know, I just kind of like the idea of it just being just MV'ers, since we thought of the idea... if everyone decides that's what we should do, then I guess we should do it.
@Audrey- sorry if I sounded mean :O Because I wasn't trying to be- but think of it as incentive to join MV :P
If we're going to present the board at the closing ceremony, we should probably make it available for all contestants to sign, not just Memvers-ers... That seems kind of mean, as if we were in an elite social group above everyone else.
If it's for our own private use though, it can just be us.
Although technically you don't have to be on MV to come to the meeting, you could just show up :P
I think that 3-5 people going on stage is a good idea. And by the way @Everyone who wants to get in on the poster idea, JOIN MV! XD (Sorry for that little plug for MV...)
Yeah, that's totally fine. Please don't feel like you have to change it. :)
@Matthew- what is considered asking nicely? (oh, please, oh, please, oh, please! JK :P)
But this is a project that the MV people are working on- so if you want to get in on it, join MV... Now if my fellow MV'ers disagree with me on this, say something :P But it's my opinion for now that we should keep it exclusively MV people.
I agree with Audrey. You know, there ARE BB contestants that aren't on MV, so it might be better just to draw/trace the BB logo on it.
Is there any way you all could make the poster not exclusively MV? There's no way that I could keep up both MV and ST... but I'd like to participate. I'm on Quizlet - does that make a difference???
Haha! I don't know if I could or not... if you ask very nicely, I might try to do it. ;D JK Just one thing... I'm a horrible artist xP If you are going to present it and end up needing someone to do it, I'd probably be available... :)
Take that back... I don't know how much luck there is to it. Just hard work! =D
Well, Nate, everybody else already said everything I would have said, so just go with that. I definitely agree that they tend to keep the longest ones for semis and finals, so don't worry about the very longest ones too much right now. Good luck!
@Nate - I agree with Cory. You have a high chance of being asked to quote a short passage in Orals, and most of the time they save the long passages for Finals. One memorization trick I use a lot is to link the last word of a sentence/verse to the first word of the next sentence/verse. So basically take the verse you want to memorize and memorize that verse + the first word of the next verse. If the memory passage is John 3:16-17, you memorize "...that whoever believes in him should have eternal life. For". This might help you eliminate blanking after a sentence/verse.
@Cory: Okay...or maybe we could ask Matthew...since he lives so close... :P LOL! Who wants to draw it? :P @Nate: I agree with Cory. Is this your first year of making nats or have you made it before?
High Nate- for now I would focus on the short memory passages and the ones that are the best cross references to John 1-12
~Cory
(although don't count on me to bring the poster board... )
wow! I'm a Senior, and I'm only about 3/8 done! What memorization methods do ya use?
I may possibly be able to bring a poster board- I am also not opposed to the idea of going on stage(in fact I'd kind of enjoy it) :) I like HP's idea- Maybe we could draw the MV symbol in the middle?
@HectorProtector: What division r u?
Who has space to bring a poster board though...? :P
@HP: Thanks for the ideas! I like them! :)
@Nate: I finished up memorizing a little over a week ago.
Any kind of poster board would probably work for the poster. Somebody could write a big 'Thank you Mr. Upton" or something in the middle, and everybody could sign it. But if we did that, somebody would have to bring a LOT of markers and (of course) the poster itself. I don't know... Just some ideas. =)
How far along are y'all with your nats passages?
@Audrey: Yeah, a group of three or so would probably be best... :) Well, you don't technically have to use it, you're welcome to come to the MV meet-up anyway. ;) But, I do find MV useful and so if you have the time may I humbly suggest that you give it another try. :) @All: It appears that people like the games and poster ideas. :) Soooo...what should the poster be like...as in what should it be made of, and should it be blank and everybody just as sign it, or what?
A poster would be really neat! I don't want to go up on stage by myself, either :). @Audrey: You don't have to use your account, you just have to have it :). I used it for the quizzes in the summer but I'm not currently using it. I have to admit, one of the reasons that I joined was so that I could go the MV meeting at Nationals :D. @Kaitlyn: Yay! Tell your sister thank you for me! :)
@Carissa: I just don't know how it works, and it seems strange that you grade yourself. I might check it out again, though. :)
could present it, so no one would have to do it alone. Although I'm sure there are people who wouldn't mind going up on stage.
I think the idea of giving a signed poster to Mr. Upton is absolutely splendid. I know he's been doing a lot of work and deserves some appreciation. I also agree with Carissa that it would be better to present it at the closing ceremonies. Maybe a small group (3people)
National Bible Bee Profiles website!
This website is for National Bible Bee qualifiers and alumni to post profiles and share encouragement! It is not endorsed by the Shelby Kennedy Foundation and does not take the place of profiles on the Bible Bee website, but is another avenue for Bible Bee-ers to build community.
Come check it out at: http://nationalbbprofiles.blogspot.com!!!
@Cory: No, that'd be cool! :P You just have to talk to the BB Staff about it...and find someone who is willing to go on stage. :P Though, it seems like the closing ceremony would be better... IDK... @People! Do any of y'all have any thoughts about this?? :P Sorry, if I'm bothering y'all...
Just so you know, I don't want to be the one to go on stage to give it to him. =P xD That's a cool idea to give it to Mr Upton, though!
@Audrey- cool! Technically you don't even have to be an active MV member to come to the meeting.... Just have an account ;p @Carissa- I personally think he'd appreciate it! Maybe we could talk to some of the BB staff and get them let us come on stage for the opening ceremony to give it to him (sorry if this is kind of a harebrained idea, I just think it would be cool if we actually could do it =D)
And yes, I'm Carissa...or Cari. :)
@Audrey: How wast thou confused? Maybe I can help you...if you would like to give MV another chance... :)
@Cory: I'm a senior as well.
@biblebee(Carissa?): I tried once, and I got very confused.......
@Allison: Okay. =) Hopefully I can remember to bring something. :P @Rachel: *shrugs* Uhhhh.... :P @Cory: LOL! That'd actually be pretty cool! ;)
@Rachel- maybe we should give it to Mr. Upton? :)
Who keeps the poster? xD xP @Grace: I do believe it is 200.
@All, do you know how many questions Juniors will have on the written test?
@Audrey- I'm a Senior :) What about you?
Carissa, a poster to sign sounds like a great idea. That way we can all remember it (as if we could forget it...). =)
@Anna: I'm thinking it'll be over by then, it actually has been in the past. :) @Audrey: It's never too late to join MV. ;) @All: Any ideas for group games?
Now I'm beginning to wish that I was on MV! I love doing group games, and being the moderator/storyteller in the game mafia is one my favorites.
@Cory_Bryce: May I ask what division you are in?
That sounds good, Carissa! Do you think that orals will be over by 3:30? I don't remember the times, but I'm thinking that orals will run late (and some of us will probably be too exhausted to go directly to the MV meeting after orals :)). Group games sound fun, too!
That'd be fun. :) What do the rest of y'all think? :)
Lets play group games at the MV meeting! (mofia, four on a couch, etc.) :P Those are my thoughts. I may have to hold my peace though if you don't like them XD
@Hector Protector- the only thing that I remembered from the webinar that you (and everyone else) needs to know is that you need to say the full chapter references with the book, chapter, and verses (i.e. Psalm 1:1-6)
Alrighty people, before I post this on announcements, I wanted to check with y'all and get y'all's thoughts. THE MV MEETING! *Time* 3:30pm, Wednesday, November 18,2015. *Where* For now we'll say the hotel lobby, but as I get more info I may change that. *Other Info* I'm going to bring a camera and we'll get group pictures. Also any individual pics taken with MVers while at the meet-up don't count in the photo 'contest'. I may or may not remember to bring a poster thingie that we can all sign. Thoughts anyone? If so, speak or forever hold your peace. :P
@Matthew: Yes! :D @Rachel: Same here. :)
I'm looking forward to meeting him. :D
Robert Upton is a very funny/likeable guy... xD
Yessss. That was SO funny. xD And also in one of the very first webinars, he said "Man, that stinks." xD xP
@Emily: Thanks! That makes sense.
@Cory: Yes! xD That is definitely the best quote! xD
Best quote from Mr. Upton in the webinars: "Dude, that's terrible!!" XD
Not anything that hasn't been summarized in the webinar notes on your family dashboard...
I actually haven't been to any of the webinars so far. Has there been any important information given?
I concur with Emily. For some reason even though the Me and the Bee page is on our family dashboards, Mr. Upton keeps saying in the webinars that we will be able to put in our information for this 'when the page is "up"', whatever that means since it is already up...
@Audrey: I think (I could be totally wrong here though...) that the pictures you uploaded during registration were something completely different. Those will go on a "security badge" and (if you selected that option) in the program. I *think* the Me & the Bee page is where they'll take the pictures and everything for the National Competitors Page.
I like the app a lot. It's useful whenever I have nothing to do, like in the car or waiting in line.
I don't think the BB website is updated yet - the list of "national competitors" isn't available. But when it does open, shouldn't the pics we uploaded during registration show up?
Ok, I should explain probably... I think why I like online better is that I can type the whole verse out easier, and it helps with my spelling AS WELL AS my memory :P
The app is awesome! Way better than the website!!
@Rachel- I personally like the online version better than the app, but I don't mind using the app if someone else in my family is using the computer. There are some nice things about the app (such as being able to earn more badges), but there are other things I don't like about it (such as when you download it, it switches you to the points scoring method instead of the verses current ranking method.
I notice many of you use the app. Do you like it?
@Delie, you're welcome! Happy studying!
Thank you so much, Cory! It is a relief to have that done.
@Everett, you do it the same way as the picture(it's on the same page)- you click 'add file' for the birth certificate and upload a scanned image of your birth certificate. For the proctor ID, you put in the DL number of your proctor, and an uploaded photo of their DL (again, the same way as the picture)
~Again, hope this makes some sense! Cory
@Cory - Thanks! Do you know how to do the birth certificate and parent id thing?
In case nobody else saw this, here is the Nationals agenda- http://www.cvent.com/events/the-national-bible-bee-competition/agenda-54dee5ed7a0241fabb05c293a19578c5.aspx
@Delie, Here are the instructions I wrote up on how to change/add your photo for the BB- (1) Go to your BB family dashboard, (2) Click “Click here for family registration to the National Bible Bee” (3) Click “already registered” (4)Sign in with email and confirmation number (5) Click ‘my group at the top of the screen’ (6) Next to your name there will be a rectangle with a circle and an arrow. Click on this and select modify registration. (7) Click ‘Next’ (8) Click ‘upload file’ (just under select tee shirt size) (it will say 'change' if you already uploaded a picture) (9) Click browse on the screen that comes up and add your photo. Then click upload.(if the picture is too big, you will click the upload button and nothing will happen. To remedy this, you can either compress it (if you know how) or email it to the BB with your contestant ID and name.) (10) Continue to click next until you get to the page that says submit payment (if you’ve already paid for nationals, this is nothing). Click finish and you are good to go.
Hope this helps! (And isn't too confusing :P)
~Cory
@Delie - You have to upload a security photo on Cvent by the 30th. I think the Me & the Bee page is separate from that this year.
@ALL: How do I upload my picture to the BB website? Should I do that somewhere other than the Me & The Bee page?
@Cory: ST has messed up for me too. I'm considering just taking a break for now. And yes, I am VERY excited about Nationals!
Yes, it would give the same point deduction. I don't know if they include that in the verse text though- I'll have to check.
Ok, I have a new problem now. Even though it has my verse count current on the app, it shows my level as 4 even though I'm on 29 when I'm on my pc... this update is kind of frustrating...
Um... did anyone beside me notice that the scripturetyper.com/biblebee page reverted to what it was before(in other words it now has the 2014 verses instead of the 2015 verses... and this group is no longer mentioned at the top of the page!:O)
I am excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Matthew and Hannah- ok, hopefully the update won't be too bad...
@All- WHO'S EXCITED FOR NATIONALS!!!!!(I am :P) Only 7 weeks to go! Press on diligently to the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ!
@Cory - I'm having the same problem; I just contacted ST about it.
@Anna - Ok. Yeah, I'm always super excited as well!
I have not tried to review since about 2 PM this afternoon, since I noticed that things were completely different... They seem to be in the process of implementing the new points/badges system into the browser version of ST.
Sorry- correction- while I'm typing the verse.
Is anyone else's ST messed up? When I go to review it says 'Server Error in '/' Application.
DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the name 'TimeDiff''
Also, even though I do not type the reference, it disappears after I type the verse- which appears after I sit and wait for a 'loading' message to go away- which is a bit. Suggestions?
@Everett: I meant semis and finals. When I'm on stage for the Opening Ceremony, I'm too excited to think about the temperature of the room :).
@Anna - Opening ceremony? :) I think that's why some of the senior semi-finalists where jackets/sweaters.
I've never really noticed it being cold before... :P I would think it would be hot on stage with all the lights, but I didn't think one way or the other when I was up there - I was too busy. :P
@Ellie: Definitely check your version's cards. I think that omitting Selah gives the same point deduction as leaving out any other word.
Selah is on the ESV cards; I don't know if it is on the other versions' cards...
Is "Selah" on the verse cards? I edited it out of the verses but I forgot if it's on the cards or not.
@Everett: Well most of us haven't had that experience before (except in last year's orals). :)
@Annalise: The "Nun" isn't on the official verse cards, so no.
@Everett: Now we know why the finalists have long sleeves!
@ServantOfTheKing So, do we memorize "Nun" in the verse?
I knooowwww it's always super cold in the testing rooms! And the room where they line you up from tallest to smallest... And you aren't allowed to wear a jacket for that part!
You would think that would have occurred to me... :C
Ok, got it!(I studied Hebrew a little, so I know what you mean). Thanks!
Cory, that's indicating a new stanza. The question mark is Scripture Typer's only way of writing the letter of the Hebrew alphabet that appears in the Bible. Each of the stanzas is titled with one letter of the alphabet. This one is Nun. Does that make sense?
I live in Alaska, cold does not bother me.
When I went to type Psalm 119:103-105 it said "How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. ? NUN Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path." What's with the '? NUN' (I edited it out, but I was just wondering...)
Last year I remembered my jacket IN THE HOTEL ROOM after I was in the written test room. ;P

LOL Rachel Yep sometimes I'm like ok great its not hot in here but other times I'm like excuse me BB people do you mind making it a little Hotter! I'm near to freezing!!!! i hate forgetting my jacket wondering if the person sitting next to me is going to say would you stop shivering!!!!!!
@The Sword of Truth, please stop spamming the wall.
Hey, I like the rooms cold. XD
@Anastasia, Mr. Upton is the executive director of the BB.
Anastasia: The CEO of Bible Bee.
Hey Bible Bee friends! I was wondering if I could borrow five short minutes of your hectic schedules. =) You see, I hope to write an article on the Bible Bee to be published in a homeschool magazine and would love to include a few quotes about your opinion of the Bible Bee (You can fill the form out below easily). Here's the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/13xeMqahdF84orRmrgz-sQOfLmlhmN7PJUaXVSHP3k_E/viewform?usp=send_form May the Lord abundantly reward you for your help! :)
Haha! I was very nervous in 2013. My teeth chattered all through our tour :).
LOL! In 2013 before Orals, Mrs. McMahan saw me shivering and said "Matthew, are you cold?" I was like "Uh, no, just really nervous" xP
@Mommy's Helper- I added him as a friend! :P
@Ellie and Anna: I agree; at least it gives an excuse to shiver and have our teeth chatter! ;)
@Ellie: Yes, it's always so cold! I guess it's better than if it were very warm, but still... :)
@Mommys Helper: Yes. @All: great job on your verses everybody! :-)
Cool Cory! @All: Did you realize that Mr. Upton is in this group?!?!?!?!?!
Oh. Wait. Steve. I know what you mean now! Thanks! :P
Wait... @Steve: Post about MV...? Sorryyyy... I should know what you're talking about...but I have no brain... =/ Sorry!
@Mommy's Helper- Yes, I am!
I hope the orals get finished on time... that way I don't have to freeze for longer than necessary. :p Has anybody else noticed it's always freezing in the test rooms?
@Cari: Now you can post about MV ;P
Cory: Are you Cory (being a fool is not cool, but God is a precious redeeming jewel) on Memverse?
Sorry about that @Grace those were supposed to have gaps between them but the computer condensed it into one sentence.
@Grace, here is my list of key words for each of the chapters of John 7-12
7-37 or 38
8-12
9-5 or 26
10-9
11-25
12-25 or 26
Hope this helps!
~Cory
This is my first year to qualify, but I have been a "biblebee-er" for many years. I have participated at locals since it started.
@Carissa: Thank you! Delie took it :). @Hannah: I think that she means how many who qualified for the first time this year.
I wonder how many people get on here and are like 'look, it's a talking survival bracelet" :PP
How many Bible Bee-ers?!?! I don't know, lots. :P
I am a first time Biblebee-er. Just wondering how many others there are out there. :)
We are 5,001 verses ahead of the 2nd place group!!
@Cory: Probably it'll be at 3:30 or 4:00. :) It all depends on if the senior orals get finished on time...in previous years they haven't.
Senior Orals is 12:45 PM - 3:00 PM. This is the last competition event for Wednesday... So that would mean the MV meeting would be at like 4:00?
National schedule:
http://www.cvent.com/events/the-national-bible-bee-competition/agenda-54dee5ed7a0241fabb05c293a19578c5.aspx
Or I'll have an admin post about it...cause I can't. :)
@Cory: There is not yet. It will probably be on Wednesday after the senior orals have been completed. @Anna: I will do that. :) I like your picture. :)
Haha, Carissa! :D Unfortunately, I can never seem to stay 1st for more than a few hours :P. Would it be too much trouble to post something on the Announcements about the MV meeting at some point (but you don't have to do it anytime soon since Nationals is still two months away).
@Carissa- is there a time set for the MV meeting yet?
I see that there is competition to get the first place in this group. :P
haha! that's funny @matthew. I just found out that they're in my brother's homeschool group. Only one of them made it - a little higher than me.
Thank you, Paisley!! I had joined before, but I guess doing that extra step made it "think" again and realize that it hasn't added my verse collections and the like. Anyway, I'm so glad it finally works!
@Buddy - That's likely. You can add it back in, it might or might not count toward this group though.
It's not in my primary full release - maybe I accidently deleted it or something?
Haha, there's been at least three Martin families involved in BB over the years... One is in OH, and one is in MI. ;D
@Buddy- it's in the primary full release.
NBBGS Senior Finals airs in half an hour on NRB!
I can't find Hebrews 1:1-4 on any of the verse lists. Can someone please look into this?
Hey Hannah! I haven't had that problem in this group, but did have a similar with another group. You could try this: when you are on the group page click on "show my profile". Then click on the number of groups you are a part of (That box usually comes up behind the profile box). Click on the plus sign at the top of the group that you want to join. It should then ask you if you want to join this group. I hope this helps!
There's a Martin family that lives in OH. There is probably a Martin family that lives in MI, though :).
Hey, I've heard some talking about the Martin family... do they live in MI?
The 29th is my half birthday!😁
No wonder she doesn't feel like she's studying enough XD JK
@Steve: Oh, right. :P LOL! Sorry!
@Cari: You forgot the memorization part. ;P
@Cory: Sure. :) @Hannah: Are you sure you've joined the group?
I kept clicking on the passage to be added to my verses page, but they never add. This group doesn't show up in my groups, either, idk why. It's kinda annoying. Does anyone know why this is? Anyone else having the same problem?
Cory: I know how you feel...I never feel like I'm studying enough for nats... For me, I mainly just follow the SG/SS method...Greek/Hebrew words, CRs, Outlines, Key Words/Verses, Titles... I also read lots of commentaries and sermons on the book/passage, and things like that... Hopefully that makes a little bit of sense...
What does everyone do to study? This being my first year making it, sometimes I wonder if I'm doing enough.
@Matthew- I wasn't necessarily asking you to run them, but I know there have been rumblings that people would like them to run for Nationals... myself included.
Yes, I'm sure somebody could. If you're asking me, I'm not currently an admin, although I could be made one. :P I'm not sure who could... maybe Bethany M?
@Matthew, can a different admin from MV than Nathan run the Bible Bee quiz(Since he won't run them for Nationals)? It would be helpful for studying for Nats.
@Rhino- you should print out the corrected cards- if you get the corrected passages in the oral round, they will be based off of the corrected cards.
@Emily H. Ah, okay. So I should print out the corrected cards still? Thanks
@Grace, I don't want to put my full name online, but so you know who I am at Nationals, my name is Cory M.
It might just be since I added it before you changed it, it still shows up for me? I don't really know how that works. :P Thanks for telling me though!!
@Emily - That was a mistake I made a while back, and I thought I fixed it, but I guess not... :P John 6:66-69 is a Primary pre-release passage. I accidentally put in just verses 68-69, then changed it, but it might not have worked...
Do we have John 6:68-69 as a memory passage? Or was it added to the Primary pre-release on accident? I don't see it in the cards...?
Ah, that must be the correct reference. xP xD Lol
They must have fixed it then, because I only see Matthew 5:1-16 in that group. :P
Matthew, I asked the question in the wrong group, sorry. xD But the in the Junior remaining verses collection, in the "Bible Bee 2015 Nationals" Group, there is Psalm 5:1-16 in it. I think it's an error. :P
@Cory, Your welcome! I hope you study well! We should meet at Nationals! :)
Psalm 5 only has twelve verses Rachel. I don't see it in the Junior list here, maybe it loaded wrong for you. Psalm 51:1-17, maybe?
@Everett: Ah, okay. Doing first letter might be part of it, cause I type every passage out...
Why do the Juniors have Psalm 5:1-16? Is that a passage or what? I don't see it in my cards or remember it on the list.

@Carissa - On average I have 100-200 verses to review each day. It sounds like a lot, but since I use First Letter Mode, reviewing doesn't take that much time. Probably like 30 min. - 1 hour. Once the intervals get to two weeks though, everything will slow down a lot.
To all the people who have like 1000+ verses memorized on here...how in the world do you keep them all reviewed? How much time does it take each day??
@Rhino.... The Hampster??!- The BB said no more corrections would be made to the cards no matter what, so go ahead and print them.
Grace- Just so you know M@`od can also mean might/strength, which is the context that it is used in from Deut. 6:4-9 (Although the transliteration that you put from Joshua 1:7-9 is correct) Thanks again- I really appreciate you letting me study your set (this is my first year making it to Nats so I need all the help I can get :P)
Thanks Grace! Got it now! Good job at getting to first in the leaderboard as well.
Thomas: 3,531 to be exact. :D
@Cory, my sister is on Quizlet, so I put a password on so that only she and I could use it. The Hebrew words are a few key words from National OT verses, and I didn't think that they would be helpful to anyone. Because I picked them out, and I haven't gone through all of them yet.
How about I take the password off for a little bit and then tell you what it is in the description before I put it back?
Just make sure to study it so that I know you have the password. :)
@Steve: they said they're not making any more changes to the cards, so I think even if there are mistakes in them, that's what they're going to go by... I think all you need to print out is the corrected cards, (which are under a different heading on the download page), not the whole entire set of Senior cards again, thankfully!
Has anyone found a mistake with the NKJV verse cards? Jw cuz I didn't want to print out all the cards again lol.
Grace: Just curious- is there a reason there's a password on your Hebrew quizlet set and not your greek set? ( I understand if you can't or don't want to tell me, I was just wondering! :D)
Same here, lol! Yeah, the system is a bit confusing. :P
@Matthew: Yeah, I've done it before too. :-/ :P I did add it over on the other side, I don't know if it will count or not. But I'd rather have 2 fewer verses on the verse count than have to redo the whole primary list. :P I just haven't messed with the whole editing/deleting verses part to know how to do that very well yet.
You're welcome. I know, it was really frustrating for me too... but whatever.
@Mommys Helper- *Thank you for answering that- I understand now why that happened*... it's just kind of frustrating since I was at such a high ranking before. (I wouldn't have downloaded the app if I had know that would happen)... Oh well, guess it makes me work harder!
Whenever I review a verse I have to re-click "Review daily" in order for my points to show up on the board. Can someone help me?
With the new management, that's not extremely surprising @HectorProtector... They went for the well-known verses first. I would guess that next year will probably be different.
@Emily - Yeah, it's supposed to be "of" not "to". If you accidentally deleted it (I've done that a couple times :P) you can probably add it back in manually and hopefully it will still count toward your verses here...
Does it seem to anyone else that there is a disproportionate quantity of verses from previous years? It seems to me that almost every other passage is one they have given us before.
I know, I saw that! :O Cory: I answered your question on the help forum.
Thanks Cory! I'm pretty sure Grace is going to pass me soon if I don't start working on memorizing John 7-12 ;) @All - We have 10,000 verses current as a group!!
1000 verses current?!?! :O good job! Good job everyone in this group! You're doing really really well! I hope you all tie for first! :P
Hey, Everett, good job at getting back to first!! :)
@TBBB: Just updated my ST app. Right across from where it says "Groups" on your "My Verses" page, there should be a tab that says "NEW SEE ALL". Tap that, and it should show you the group leader board. Does that make sense?
I think there's a mistake in ST's Acts 24:15-16 KJV. It's supposed to say "void of offence" not "void to offence". I can't get the cards to pull up on the BB webpage to double-check my cards though.
And I tried to change it on mine and deleted it from my whole collection. *sigh* xP
@TheBibleBeeBunny, I think the reason why our group doesn't have a ranking on the page is because we have verse collections. Groups that do not have specific verse collections, have the group rankings on the page instead of the memory verse section. :)
@Cory: I was asking about the ranking of our whole group, not where each of us place in our group. Sorry for the confusion
Hi lover of God were glad that you joined!
@TBBB, there actually is, just go to members, and they are in order of ranking (Although it doesn't actually show a numerical ranking, i.e. #23, etc.).
@TBBB: No, I don't think so. It *is* a pity.
Lets just say...I'm having a hard time keeping my verses current... =/ Part of the reason is that my laptop's keyboard keeps cutting out... =/ Sorry that I'm not really helping keep us in #1 on the leaderboard... =/
Ah, alright! *sigh* This is getting confusing =P
Is there a way to look at the group leaderboard with the app?
My goodness, what confusion! =)
Oh, sorry, I must have missed them somehow. They're missing in Primary and Junior but there in Senior. :P
Uh, Matthew, really? Because I have Ephesians 2:8...and I haven't memorized those other two yet but I think I recall seeing them in the pile...can you double check?
@Cory - It might be because there's two leaderboards. For example, I'm ranked #105 in the Verses Current leaderboard, but I'm #420 in points accumulated.
Good point, @Katherine_BB
OK, I put in a request on the ST help forum about this.
@Everett and Matthew, you might want to look through the Psalms and make sure all the little intros ("A Psalm of David", etc.) are deleted, since they're not in the cards.
ya i know i was rank 293 and then some thing happened ( i don't know what) it say that i am now 1455
Uhhh... not really sure what happened. I was #469 ranking overall, and then I downloaded the app and dropped to #7760.... any ideas on what I should do????? I worked hard to get in the top 500.
Ya Acts 17:19-31 is missing the top three verses
I'm a little worried about all these errors.... I don't want to email HQ if someone else has already (I really don't want to bug them), but then again, I want to make sure everything is corrected.
@Matthew - Thanks for pointing those out, I'll make sure to memorize them even if I have no cards.
@Everett - I know what you mean!! I didn't review today and probably won't have time tomorrow either, so my review list is going to be pages and pages..... oh dear....
Ephesians 2:8, 2:13 and 3:8 missing from Senior cards too, at least KJV.
@Bethany - I believe they're missing in all the Junior translations :/ I emailed Bible Bee about it.
argh I didn't review at all yesterday and dropped 500 verses :P
Uh oh! We're back to 2nd again. I'm having a hard time keeping my verses current.
@Cory: Yes! I'm actually kind of glad that it is. I was able to go much faster on the computerized test. @Rachel: They're not missing from Seniors, are they? I know that I have the cards for Ephesians 2:8 and 13.
Did anyone know that the Nationals test is going to be on computers this year? That's what the BB said in the most recent webinar.
@ Rachel, she means the single verse cards.
1 Corinthians 15:50-58 is missing from the Senior NKJV passages!!! @Matthew, maybe you could email HQ about this as well? @Bethany Cooksey, what version and division are you? I'm not missing them... *sigh* (wonders how many mistakes I'm missing in the cards themselves...)
Bethany Cooksey: I may be misunderstanding you, but we don't have any verses from Ephesians 1. ;) Now I do know cards from Ephesians 2 or so are missing from ESV...
@Bethany Cooksey they're all missing? I have to check! =0
We are in first now!!! Kevin's bible group is down to zero verses. Someone must have found out. :)
All the Ephesians one-verse cards are missing!
Hi, @Lover of God! Welcome!
@BibleBee1215, what kind of mistakes? Are you Junior or Senior?
yeah I keep on finding mistakes in my cards
to bad were not first anymore
@Rachel - We'll have to ask HQ, but my guess is yes... at least with an error as big as that. I'm sure they will do their best to let everyone know about the errors. If anyone is really trying hard to do well at Nationals, they *will* be keeping themselves up-to-date. :P
My question is - what if someone never realized 19-21 are missing, and quotes it incorrectly at Nationals? Will they be out just because they quoted the incorrect card correctly?? :P
Yes I did. :) It should be Acts 17:19-31.
@Matthew: Did you email the Bible Bee about it? I'm wondering if I should memorize it the way it is on the card or in the Bible, and also what reference I should say.
The passage is supposed to be 19-31, not 22-31. They haven't put up all the correct cards on the BB website yet.
I just realized that Acts 17:19-31 is short of 3 verses.
How come that's not a corrected verse?
Did memorized all of Acts 17:19-31? Or did you memorize what was on the cards?
I have a question. As a junior, do I have to memorize both the junior and primary verses? thanks!
That's really funny! ^0^ @ServantOfTheKing
Haha, I know. I consider us 1st xD
I wonder if the reason why they jumped up there so quickly is because they have memorized "Job 1:1-100000" <--Copied from their list, by the way. =D
There is a group ahead of us that has 100053 verses current.
Do you think we can try to beat them by Nationals?
I'm mostly speaking to myself! I need to review more diligently.
Haha! Some of my verses need to be reviewed in six months, and I have *not* reviewed them enough for that! :)
There's another bug and my current verses is waaay above my actual current verses again, but if it puts us to first, hey, that's okay! xP
Hooray! High fives all around!
First place!! Good job everybody!
Yes!! Keep it up, everybody!
I think we could catch them today xP Let's go :D
Now we're just 156 verses behind the top group! We could easily be first by the weekend!
I believe they are working on corrected cards for all the mistakes that are reported.
@Cory_Bryce yeah, they told me to memorize what was on the card too... I guess we just have to memorize the mistakes. =/
@Eirene: The only thing I know of is to edit your verses so that those words aren't capitalized. I don't know if you want to take the time to do that, though. :)
On the Senior KJV cards, Acts 17:19-31 begins with verse 22. The first verse on the first card (labeled 1 of 5) is verse 22. I'll email BB about that today. I memorized it from the card, and when I went to put it in to ST, lo and behold, I was missing the first three verses! =O
Bible Bee said that the verse cards are the final authority this year, not the Bible... because they're using ESV11 and don't want people to get confused with different ESV translations from different years (i.e. ESV07).
I don't think you can do anything.
I have a question about my verse review on here. So, I want to type in the punctuation, but when I selected the option that would make me type it, it also made me type in all of the uppercase letters, even if they weren't necessary (like after a comma or something). Is there something I can do about that, or just go with it?
@All ESV users, Psalm 27:13-14 is missing an exclamation point at the end ><
@Everett Wow I never realized that!!!!!
@Delie That's great!!! I believe if everyone keeps their verses current and keeps on memorizing new verses we can be 1st soon!!
Good job everyone!! :)
Could one of the admins "unadmin" me? I would like to be able to edit some of my verses without messing up other people's passages :).
This group is less than 500 verses away from 1st! Great job, everyone!
They said if you find a mistake, e-mail them at contest [at] biblebee [dot] org.
I think that it would always (alway - hahaha) be the safest to memorize what is on the card. But it might be a good idea to email BBHQ and ask?
Should I memorize the mistakes on the cards?

In the Primary and Junior ESV cards, Psalm 33:6-9 is missing an "s" at the end of "storehouse."
@All KJV users
Colossians 4:5-6 has a mistake!!!
In the KJV Bible Colossians 4:5-6 says "speech be *alway* with grace" But on the KJV Junior cards it says "always"
Ps. Also ST has Philippians 4:4-5 (KJV) wrong.
It says "alway" on the cards and in the Bible, but ST says "always".
juniors have 183 passages primaries 152
Great! I shall print them... right now!
I'm so happy! Although I'll probably have to wait until Monday, because I want to get them printed on cardstock too, which means my dad has to do it at his work.
Yay! I'm sending mine down to FedEx to have them printed on heavy card-stock. I'll have to wait another day or two, but it's worth it.
Got mine printed, cut, and sorted! :D
I printed mine last night!
Cards are released!!!!!!!!!!
@Grace: Okay, I think ST might register everything in Central time. Not sure about that, but I think that's what it is.
@Everett: This website is so buggy.... you never know what's going to happen next!
@Grace: Perhaps they're in a different time zone?? :P
Wow! You guys stay up painfully late, or wake up really early!!! :0
@Everett: Yes my mom noticed that!
Did anyone else notice that they switched the Primary and Junior passages? Viewing the Primary passages links to the Junior cards...I seriously hope this gets fixed ASAP. Or that I'm completely wrong about this.
It got fixed. xD
And our group is advertised on the BB list below!
Um... I guess today is "Upside-Down Logo Day". xP
I wish that would happen more often when I'm memorizing verses. It has happened to me before, and some of my worst passages have become perfect overnight xP
Hooray! That happens to me all the time - "I don't know what I did but it works now." I just wish it could happen more often. :)
Thanks, Audrey! I don't know what I did, but it works now :)
@Everett: Can't you just download the app on as many devices as you want and just log in with your own ST account? I don't have pro (and I'm not very techy) so I'm not sure. But I didn't think it was complicated......
No. Earlier this week, I heard that it might be at the end of this week, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if we got cards sometime next week instead. I hope that it's soon! :)
@Everett probably if you use the ST app, but I don't really know anything..sorry!
Does anyone know when the verse cards will be released?

Is there a way to get the ST app (pro version) on multiple devices? I read something about having up to four "pro accounts," but I'm not sure what that means.
Ellie, that's the same thing I'm trying to do; and I'm not keeping up very well either :) Praying for you and everybody!
Go Ellie! You can do it! =)
Uh-oh... I looked at Rouse Circle of Bible Students, the group above us, and it looks like tons of people are joining it because it's first. Let's hurry up and memorize more verses! :)
I'm trying to get through ten a day but only did four yesterday, so today I tackle Ephesians 5:1-20... which might work because I partially memorized it last year.
That's great! I still think that we can make it to first before nationals, though!
Great job everyone! =) That's awesome!
Wow! Great job, everyone!
We're at number #2 already! :O
I want to finish by mid october... but with all the travel we have this fall... that sets a goal of 23 verses /day 7 days/ week... :O
Praying for y'all :)
Yes, I'm Elizabeth. (Sorry, I probably should have made that clear the first time! =D)
@HectorProtector, I'm guessing you're Elizabeth? :p Yes, that was so unexpected seeing you guys! Thanks, and same to you! :) hahah! I know, I never feel like memorizing in the car...
I calculated that I need to do about 14 verse per day, 5 days a week. Following that schedule I will have about a week to review before the competition. (I am a senior)
According to my math, if we want to finish by November 1st, that means Seniors should be memorizing at a rate of 8-9 verses a day (Not including locals or pre-release verses). Does that sound about right? (Math is not my strong-point.) :P
No, the pre-release passages are not included in the full release collections. Seniors must select the Primary and Junior verses as well :)
Do the "full release" collections include the early release passages? Also, do I have to select primary, jr and sr verses? Thanks!
All of John 1-12 are still here as far as I can see.
Did someone remove John Chapters 1-6?
Can someone add the complete John Chapters 7-12.
I don't know, Anna... I'm hoping tomorrow. x)
Everett, I put John 7-12 up. The passages should match with most of the National passages from John 7-12, although some of the overlapping verses were hard to work with... Anyways, there's nothing like a passage stopping a verse short of where it should have, like was in the other set (which was made before any of the Nats verses were released).
Has anyone asked BB when they plan to release the cards? I'm wondering if I should make my own :P.
Thank you so much Matthew! I was actually just going to ask about those figures. Wow, that's a lot of verses for us seniors. There are quite a few things this year similar to the first year in 2009. =)
Thanks Matthew! That's quite helpful, and its just nice to know how many verses you will have to memorize. xPP
@Matthew - I was going to ask if you could put up your version of the John passages that matches up with the memory passages. I'm still working on John 7-12 :)
@Hannah: I wonder if Everett did so I could put up John 7-12... He didn't tell me though... xP
@ALL: Here is a newly refined list of figures for the number of Nats verses. I goofed again on the Senior calculations (I missed a passage) so we're back to 1077. xP I'm about 95% sure these calculations are correct.
Primary:
Full number of passasges - 153 (141 w/o Locals)
Full number of verses - 553 (512 w/o Locals)
Full number of verses without overlaps - 552 (511 w/o Locals)
Junior:
Passages - 183 (171 w/o Locals)
Verses - 799 (758 w/o Locals)
Verses w/o overlaps - 719 (678 w/o Locals)
Senior:
Passages - 205 (193 w/o Locals)
Verses - 1077 (1036 w/o Locals)
Verses w/o overlaps - 880 (839 w/o Locals)
I guess somebody made me an admin? Lol, I didn't even ask for that, but okay. xP
@Steve It was great seeing you today! Good luck with your studying. I thought about doing some memorizing on the drive home today, but I took a nap instead. =) Oh well. I'll make up for it Monday.
I just finished editing my John 1-6 passages to fit with the Nationals verses. That will explain my drop in current verses (sorry, guys, it'll take a little longer to reach the top xP). Interestingly, if I added verses to a passage (which I did in certain cases), the verse count here was updated accordingly! =P
Alright! I'll try to even though I don't really know what I'm doing... :P
Everett, you can! x) If you do, try to keep them more or less along the same lines as the Nats verses if possible. :)
Anyone going to add John 7-12?
Hey, what happened to the individual verse sets?
Question: Do the full released passages on here also include the early released ones?
All we would have to do is almost double the verses we have now... I think we can do it! :D
This group is now 4th!!! I wonder if we might could get to 1st before Nationals :).
Yes, it has to be in Speed Mode and Type It. My "average" typing speed isn't quite as high as my real speed, either.
Haha, I actually use Speed mode but my average typing speed is slightly lower than my real average too (believe it or not xD). I don't use Type It mode that much.
Is someone going to post John 7-12 passages? :)
I heard that you have to be in Speed Mode for it to go up. Apparently if you're doing Accuracy mode it doesn't affect your average WPM.
I think the average is calculated based on the average speed you type on the "Type it" section. Because I usually skip that and go straight to "Learn" or "Memorize" my average is a lot lower than my actual typing speed.
Citizens! How does one get their average typing speed to go up? I'm typing faster, but for some reason my average always stays the same, even when I know my average is faster...
Anna: As am I. :) @SotK: Okay. :)
@Carissa, ah, well, I see. I won't bother spending any time focused on those questions. If it comes to that, I'll have to rely on my general Bible knowledge. :P
Haha! I'm rather excited right now :).
Anna: Oh, well. Yours was the more enthusiastic response. ;P
Oops! I didn't realize that Carissa was posting at the same time as me :).
Yes, it's official!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!
@Grace: Yes, it is on the website.
So its official? We ARE studying John 7-12 for Nationals??!
SotK: Are you meaning on the test? Well, one year there were quite a few questions of that sort. We were studying (If I'm remembering the correct year) 2 Peter and Jude correlated with it quite nicely and there were several questions on the National test about Jude.
Good guess Delie! I just saw that on the website.
The study passage is John 7-12!
How often do you all find questions on "other books of the Bible which relate or refer to the designated study passages and/or memory passages"?
@Nate - Usually there are some questions on the summer study.
From the Competition Rulebook... "The questions on the National Contest Written/Computer Based Tests will cover a wide range of Bible Knowledge including, but not necessarily limited to, information from the designated Bible study passages and memory passages of both the summer Bible Study Guide and National Contest, Hebrew/Greek word studies from those study passages and memory passages, passages using the same Hebrew/Greek root word in other books of the Bible and other books of the Bible which relate or refer to the designated study passages and/or memory passages."
Quick question, at nationals are we still tested on the Jn. 1-6 study guide with its cross-references or is it just on the national book/passage and verses?
Yeah, that's possible. I have wondered about that ever since I learned that the study passage was John 1-6. Oh and the full-release passages are up now... but the full-release collections do not include the verses from the pre-release collections so you have to memorize both collections.
The full release verses make it look like we are studying John 7-12 for Nationals, though I don't see that announced yet.
@Matthew: Well, good for you! :P
The remaining verses are out! :D
@Carissa - Well, I enjoyed it. ;D I probably got it from the same place Carissa did, Allison. :P @Grace - That was just asked about on the NBB Hopefuls group! :P I plan to get them onto that group tomorrow or Saturday, and although I'm not an administrator here, someone added my own collections onto this group, so that might happen again. :P Either way, we'll get it done. :)
Will someone add the rest of the National BB Passages to our groups memory verse section when they are released? :)
@SotK: I spy on people... Therefore I know stuff about people that they think I don't know. :P
Now I'm trying to rack my brain for all the reasons you both might know my last name... ;) I'm coming up empty handed though. :P
Although I am not a naturally extroverted person, I do look forward to meeting all of you. I'll leave the awkwardness at His feet and allow Him to do with it as He wills. :)
Everett: I *tried* to stay out of the way, but it unfortunately didn't work... *facedesk* And it wasn't funny...I was dying of embarrassment... *facedesk*
@Carissa - Haha, that was funny! I got out of there as soon as the cameras started rolling :P @Allison - That's why I keep my real name and username the same ;)
@Matthew: WAIT, WHA?!?! It was not fun!!! It was awkward! Especially since it was during the MV meeting and MVers were laughing because *I* got pulled into it! *facedesk* Oh, and when more details and maps are out for Nationals I will be setting up an MV Meeting. @SotK: I know what your last name is. ;) I do not promise what Matthew did, though. :P
Being interviewed was fun! ;D
@Allison - I actually know your last name... ;) And I will (hopefully, if I don't talk myself out of it) introduce myself to you at Nats if you don't approach me first. xD
I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it awkward to go up to people you know (who don't know you) and introduce yourself. "Hello, I'm......Servant of the King." Wow, that went well. :D There are disadvantages of not having a profile picture of yourself or sharing your last name. ;)
Yeah, I'm glad she joined you. xD Being interviewed was very awkward. ;P
Yeah, that's understandable. :P I'm just glad that Emily was pulled into it when they did it to me. :P
Haha. xP Well, it's only under certain circumstances I'm like that. xP (For example, being interviewed by the GS people... xD )
Ah, okay. I guess I learn something new every day. ;)
Lol! Um, sometimes. xD xP
I didn't know you had an introverted side... ;)
I think this year it will be less awkward because I've met a lot of the people before. xD But to those I haven't met....oh dear xP Lol...I'll probably retreat into my introverted side. xP
Anna: LOL! xD Thankfully there are enough BBers who don't feel awkward or at do it even if it is awkward. :P
*facedesk* Yeah, but still! :P
I can just picture all of us at Nationals within several yards of each other, and none of us will say hello for fear that it will be awkward! :) I don't think that anyone has mentioned this yet, but there's also the awkward experience when someone appears to know you, and you don't remember who they are until several months later :). But that doesn't happen much at all. @Carissa: Well, you once called me ma'am... :).
Matthew: No! I feel soooooooo horrible after we leave that I didn't meet them! Everett: Yeah! But it's so hard to go meet them... :P Steve: HA! Like agreeing that it won't be awkward will work?! Very funny! :P And don't call me ma'am. *facedesk*
@carissa *salutes* yes, ma'am! I guess we're meeting at Nats then. :P
Great idea! xD I only experience the awkwardness when I think about it. xD
guys guys... I have a simple solution so that it's not awkward... ;P you just both agree before hand that it won't be awkward. 😆
You really want to wait for another year??? xP I've done that a couple of times but whenever I get a chance, I try to talk to them, however short it may be. xD

@Carissa - Haha, I do that too sometimes but regret it when I realize that I won't see them for another year :P
Hannah: That is definitely the time where you just don't meet them until the following year. :P Or just resign yourself that if you do meet them you will die of awkwardness. :P
I know!! Or see them several times a day but don't go say hi till the third day! (that happened with me :P) LOL me too Carissa!
when the only conversation starter you can think of is, "So, are you ready?"
Matthew and Everett: Yep! I generally just end up not greeting them. If they come greet me then obviously I'll greet them, but I just don't usually initiate it myself after that. :P
The worst for me is when you see someone you know, and know that they see you, but you don't have the courage to say hi to them. Then after a few minutes you finally manage to greet them very awkwardly xD
Yeah, I guess it is true @Carissa. =P What's really bad is when you see somebody that you know well (when you've even planned a visit!) but for the first few minutes or hours you just stare at each other. xP Because you're so not used to spending time with them in person...
Matthew: Why did you have to put the JK, that was true. :P @Steve: NO! WE WILL MEET AT NATIONALS! AND I WILL HAVE TO JUST PUT UP WITH THE AWKWARDNESS! WE ARE MEETING AT NATIONALS!!!
wow thanks guys... totally just built up my confidence about going to Nats (NOT) ;P lol
Yes, it really is awkward meeting people at Nationals. The worst part is when you want to introduce yourself to someone and don't, think that someone will know who you are and they don't, or when you think that the person standing in front of you is someone that you know and they aren't :P. In spite of all this, I love meeting people at Nationals! :D
Haha...meeting people at Nationals is both fun and awkward. xD xP Awkward because....well... xP Hehe. Would make a good A+A post. xP
JOJO....... please don't just type random letters. That's spamming.
It's soooooo awkward... especially when you see them but you're too shy to go meet them... cause I've seen Matthew and Everett several times but have never actually met them. xP And at the Closing Ceremony I happened to sit beside Jordan S. (and I knew it!) but I never even said hi :P
For Carissa, meeting anybody is awkward as a rule. ;P JK For some it is more awkward than others though.
Steve: Apparently you haven't experienced the awkwardness of meeting people at Nationals xP Worse than it sounds!
@rachel what Carissa said! ⬇️⬇️ @biblebee oh come on, if it's tht bad I should meet u then... I don't want to make u feel awkward!
Steve isn't allowed to drop out even if he doesn't want to do all the studying!! :P @Steve: Um, wrong. It will be awkward. Very awkward. For me at least. :P
Steve: If you really don't want to do all this studying you know you can drop out. ;P Lol
Alright, well, make sure you have the Local passages too. Then let me know which passages aren't here and I'll see if I can fix it.
Matthew, add all three divisions of the verses and I still don't think they're all here..
Biblebee: Ik!!! soooo much studying... this will be rly hard for me lol. and no, it won't be awkward at all :D ;P
I put it in the description Matthew. No I am not going to Nats @Rose Garden :'(
Who's BUSY(😡 go away i am busy) (some one who's busy) Who's NOT(😜Come on in lets have fun) LOL
I am😂 Just sooo exiting Cant wait‼️
Who is Going to Nats😂😃who is not😥😩
They are all here. The Juniors will memorize the verses for Juniors and Primaries; the Seniors will memorize all three collections. (Maybe an admin should put this on the group description so there's no more confusion. :P)
No, all the verses are not here. I have them all uploaded on the 'Bible Bee 2015 Nationals Group. Anyone can join, even if they are not going to nationals.
Steve: I'm sooooo glad you're coming! I can't wait to meet you! ^Except I can wait...cause we have lots of studying to do and it'll be awkward... :P^ ^_^
three divisions I should say
hey are all the verses added in the three categories? I'm not sure they are..
Thats my little brother he wanted too say something Haha
Lll.lll.kllkkkkkkkkkkkvhdvdgr🐦🍉🚢🕒
U are not going to NATS⁉️
I'm doing nothing but feeling sorry for myself because I can't come :'(
😂 sorry for tht mistype :P So glad to hear that!! I still can't believe tht I can actually come! 😊

so you've got more verses then the primaries i guess you hope that there are just 600 verses rather then 650:)
I wish we were going too. :( Maybe next year. Hectorprotector: No, I don't know how to do that. Carissa: Oh, Ellia made it too? Tell her I said good job :) Rose Garden: I am a first-time Junior. @All: Do the Juniors have 600 Nats verses this year?
Last year we had 750. They haven't given us a specific number for this year though.
xP! Oops! I thought there was 800 verses for seniors.
But I am a little relieved (I'll be a senior next year) I always thought they had 800! x)
Steve: LOL! I think you had a mistype. :P Yes, all my sibs that could compete, made it. :)

I think it's 750
Oh, I think Seniors have 800 National verses total.
Tell me I'm wrong 😌
@Grace I hadn't seen that there were 800 total. Sorry about that. Did you find that in the rule book? I probably just missed it.

hey grace! 🌺:)
There are 227 individual verses (that is, not counting repeats in the overlapping passages). That also includes Locals verses.
@Hectorprotector do the math! 30% of 800=240
So its ABOUT that many, (I didn't count) ;)
How many actual verses (not passages) are there in the pre-release for seniors? I thought somebody might know, and I don't feel like counting them all up myself. =D
@Steve - All her siblings that are eligible made it. I'm not sure about her sins though xP
They seriously don't all get released till the 21st???? I thought it was the 14th - so my plan for when I was going to memorize all the pre-release verses matched that. Oh well, I think I'm just going to stick to my previous plan and have plenty of time to review. :)
Mommys helper what division are you in?
Umm...Steve...I think you have a mistype... :P
I set up a group under the name Bible Bee 2015 Nationals.
@biblebee did all your sins make it?? :)
Hi! Does anybody know how the 'print scripture memory cards' function works? I tried it and I was really happy, but then I realized that it cuts off the ends of all the long ones. Can anybody tell me how to get it to print all of it?
Congratulations to everyone! You all did an awesome job, even if you didn't make nationals! @Hannah: I wish y'all were coming to nats... =/
Oh and the pic is my reaction when I learned I made the top five in Locals in 2013 :)
Thanks! (If you were talking to me... Rose Garden got a better score :P)
I was hoping for better......oh well :/
You got a rly good score :)
Good job Vashta Nerada0! I know someone who got 120 in 2013!! :O Good job Rose Garden!! Oh sorry Anastasia. You did really well!!
This is my first year i did not really expect to be Ranked 79!!! i am a primary
you just grazed the top of it you could have gotten in!!!
Congrats everyone!
I got 143 :/
I was 119th in my group. *fistpump*
I was 119th in my group. *fistpump*
August 21st is a long time... Thank goodness for the early release passages!
Awesome! That's cool, because in 2013 I ranked 17th in Primaries! :)
I made Nationals too. I'm going because 1) my brother ranked 17 in his group 2) my ranking was 62 LOL
I MADE NATIONALS!!!!!!!! But we aren't going... :( I ranked 81!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOO SHOCKED!
I don't really know. They just said that materials will be released on the 21st.
Lol never mind! ;P
I'll find out in a few hours anyway. ~_~
Thanks Everett!
But will they announce the national bb book we will be studying?
If not are we supposed to just like have a "vacation" from bb studying until August 21?
Sorry for all my questions everyone... xP
Bible Bee said they would release the verses on August 21st
Will the BB release the other 70% of National verses on August 8th? Or will we have to wait? Thanks in advance
@Anna - I get it. Thanks!
@Hectorprotector: I believe that they are all already added. If you are a Primary, then you would select only the Primary early release passages. If you are a Junior, then you would select both Primary and Junior. If you are a Senior, then you would select Primary, Junior, and Senior.
Hey! Do any of you know if and when someone is going to add the rest of the Nationals pre-release? Thanks!
Does it not let you request to join?
I can't join the CoC clan 4 some reason
Yeah, they stayed with us for six days. :)
Wha? The A's were in MO? NO FAIR!!!!!!!!! :P I'm looking forward to the next one too!
Hannah: I know them all too... :) Anyway, the GS episode was quite fun to watch! It's kinda funny actually because the A's were at our house so we got to watch it with them. They hadn't told us where Nicolas had placed, so that was fun to find out. I'm looking forward to the next episode. :)
*sigh of relief* The test is done!
Congratulations, Delie! I'm so glad you made the semis!
@Delie - Wow, that's true too! It's so neat how close you guys were! Although I can imagine it might be disappointing for the others...
Yeah, Hannah, I made it a point last year to meet/get to know all the Semi-Finalists this year that I didn't know already. And I just happened to already know all of the GS contestants that weren't Semi-Finalists =)
Whoa I didn't notice that @Matthew and Delie. I'll have to watch it again Saturday (I would've anyway :)
You're welcome and thanks Delie! Wow Matthew you know all of them?!?!
@Matthew: I actually hadn't realized that until watching last night! Anna pointed out that if Bethany had gone for higher points on the last question, we could have had a tie that way too.
@Delie, it's a good thing you went for 600 on the last round, or else there would have been potential for a three-way tie for 2nd! :P
Yes, actually, I think I know... yes, I do... I know all of the Senior Game Show contestants, more or less. =)
Thanks, Hannah! Congratulations on completing your verses!
I'm done with all my verses!!!
Good job Matthew! Oh you know them all Matthew? Cool!
@Hannah - I know all four of them personally and I wasn't sure who I was rooting for... but I knew the outcome already so it wasn't a big deal. =P
Yay, I finally finished "officially" memorizing John 1-6 xD
She was awesome! So was Nicolas. It's cool that the two people I was rooting for made semis!!!
YAY! Can't wait to see her!
@Jojo and Awsomeness, I got a friend request from both of you, but I don't exactly know who you are...
Nope, she'll be on August 12th, I believe :)
Oh. Was Courtney an alternate too?
http://nrbnetwork.tv/Pages/watch_online.aspx Starts at 5:30 EST
Could someone post the link for the GS again? Thanks!
I know, I know, everyone thinks that, but did you catch that those who were announced at the Opening Ceremony weren't necessarily going to be GS competitors, they could be alternates? I'm hoping they'll at least let us know our alternate status this year. :\
You weren't? I thought you qualified!! Was Courtney on? Rachel: Me neither! :O
Sorry to disappoint you Hannah, but I wasn't on the GS. :P
Oh my, I CANNOT miss this episode. :D :D :D
@Hannah: Yes, she is :). She's in the same round as Nicolas, Bethany X, and Philip A.
Oh she's on the next one? AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait!
@Hannah: I know! I'm really looking forward to it, too! Especially seeing Delie (obviously)! :D @All: Don't forget to watch the National Bible Bee Game Show on Wednesday! Delie is on!
LETS REACH THE TOP By 2016!:)
HEY PPL WHAT DO YOU THINK NEXT YEARS BB CHAPTER WILL BE?????
I watched it naothe! I can't wait for the SRS so I can see Nicolas and Matthew and Courtney and Hannah and Delie and....
No, I don't think so @James, I have a lot more than 252 verses in my review list - something more like 450...
@Annie and Matthew, I think that on the group it's showing how many group verses you have on your review list, not how many you have current. But I don't know.
did u guys watch the NBBGS?
What is the CoC clan name?
"It", meaning the last NBBGS. :)
Yep! I watched it Wednesday and again today. It's awesome! *is waiting for 2:00 to come* Oh BTW welcome all new members! ( I know someone else just joined like 20 minutes ago... I forget the name though)
Yeah...I think it is messed up. I have 158 verses current and on one of my other groups it says I have 603 current!
I'm kinda confused that the list says I have 235 group verses current when I only have 112 verses current right now total. :P
I second what Delie said. It was really good!
If you missed Primary Finals on NBBGS last night, try to watch Saturday morning. It is a very exciting round!
I wish I played CoC... maybe I will sometime. :(
@Anna - Great to hear! Thanks for the information! Your sister's doc is very helpful :) Didn't know a lot of that, so I might take the PT again.
@Ellie - I use scratch paper to take notes of all the hard questions and set time goals.
@Ellie: No, but some people like to use scratch paper to help them remember what questions they want to go back to and change. I've memorized the eighteen multiplication table to help me with the test (5 minutes = 18 questions), so I want to use scratch paper to write that down.
What do you mean, using scratch paper, Anna? We can't take notes, can we?
@Everett: My sister (Joy) emailed the Bible Bee and they said that we can use scratch paper! If you're on the Bible Bee study doc, you might also want to check out what Joy wrote about keyboard shortcuts for taking the test.
I have the 2014 locals verses on here, so the memory verses didn't bother me.

I liked the format too. I was really really good at the paper version though, so I may have to adjust a few things in regards to timing and review. I hope they will allow us to use scrap paper like previous years... It's kinda essential for me :P
Yep, it was harder... I got the memory passages okay, I think, 'cause we got the CD and that makes it SO much easier. But I couldn't remember the Greek words or cross references. So, that confused me.
Lol, I had a hard time recalling the memory passages too. xP
I knew clicking would be a lot faster, and I was actually surprised that I only had 20-something minutes left... cause last year I had 40 minutes left :P But after all, it was a Junior test, and after all, it has 50 more questions than the test I took last year and after all, it's questions that I haven't studied for a year. :P
@Carissa: Was it an incorrect question?
@Cory: I know! I didn't realize clicking was so much faster than bubbling.
I liked that it was a lot faster for me than an actual paper test... I actually had time to review!(for once).
Hannah: It's rather hard to explain...
I didn't remember how Psalm 115:1-3 started until the second to last questions :P. Of course, after that I had to go back and change some answers.
What odd thing did you notice, Carissa? I also wanted to see if I could do it in an hour... I figured I could because in 2013 when the PRS still had 200 questions I was able to finish both tests (locals and Nationals). I could hardly remember any either @Carissa. :P
Oh, and lets just say I am glad that was not the real test and that I did not remember the memory passages well...
I took the practice test on Saturday. I was interested in seeing how the local test was while not being under stress... I must say, that was interesting. Anyway. I think the format will work quite nicely. Except for the odd thing that I noticed... But I'm assuming it is to help make sure no one can cheat...
@Jill: That's what I should have done, but once I got into the test I wanted to know how I did, so I answered all the questions. But I did play around with it a bit :).
The scores for this quiz aren't going to do anything for the Locals\Nats quiz 2015 (in case you didn't know that).
Yes, I think that's right Jill. I just took the whole test because I was interested in how much harder the Jr test was than the Pr test. Plus, I wanted to see how much I still remembered from Jonah and the memory verses last year.
We only answered some of the questions on the practice test. We looked at it as an opportunity to try the new format... that way the format is familiar on test day and we can focus on the test questions themselves. I think the practice run was also to help the Bible Bee office make sure things are running the way they expect.
Oh, I know that Delie. I was just hoping I did well, just because. :)
I liked the classmarker format better than I expected. @MommysHelper: I don't think we can use our scores from the practice test to guess whether or not we'll qualify this year, since it was on last year's material.
Yep, it was Matthew! Thanks. I only got 2/3 right... :P
Whoa, was the practice test last year's Local test then??? Interesting! O_o Anyways, I think that's fairly good. =P
Took the practice test; got 49 wrong. Is that good, because I was a Primary last year (and took the Junior practice test) and that I haven't studied Jonah for almost a year?
@Matthew, what I meant was that last year they gave us an exception. We could do it on a different day. (At least I think that's what they did, but I'm not certain.) The times are right, though. We probably will do it in the late afternoon, but with swimming and three different kids doing it...
Anna: Ah. Good point. Thank you, ma'am.
I was wondering that too Carissa... but Anna explained it.
@Carissa: It has something to do with memorizing in passages rather than verses, I think. It only gives you one successful attempt per passage for each time that you review/memorize it, so if you're doing the passages collection, then it will take awhile to get more attempts than verses.
I'm confused as to how I have *less* successful attempts than # of verses... But whatever...
@JillP, I think it can also have to do with whether you're using the passage collection or the verse collection. If you're using the verse collection, you'll have more successful attempts for the same number of verses (I think).
Welcome, Valor, #AWESOME !, and Lego!
That, and these guys have been working on their verses for quite a while already... :)
I think it's how many current verses you successfully type. You can't re-type them and get another successful attempt. So I may only have 22 verses current, but the successful attempts is how many current verses in this group I have ever typed successfully. Hope that explains it.
I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't clear on my original question... Can anyone who has a large number of "successful attempts" please explain how you got those high numbers? For example, Elsa (Mommy's Helper) has 22 current verses and 293 successful attempts. It only gives me credit for one success per passage per day, even if I successfully type the verse 5 times. Thanks.
@James - You're supposed to do it anywhere between 8 AM and 7 PM CDT. Since you're eight hours ahead, isn't that 4 PM-3 AM your time? So maybe you could do it in the later afternoon...
@James: I don't know. But the verses are on this group page.
oh and, does anyone know when the they're going to add the 2015 locals to https://scripturetyper.com/biblebee/ ????????
@JillP One thing about "successful attempts" is that for every passage (or verse) that you type out, you get another "successful attempt".
@Matthew I don't know when we're going to do the test. I mean, I don't know if we'll get an exception to having to do it on the 1st or something.
Those who have "successful attempts" numbering a lot higher than their current verses probably are using the single-verse option for reviewing John 1-6.
How is that some of you have such high numbers for "successful attempts"? It only counts one per day per passage for me. Am I missing something?
Thanks for spotting that! I guess I forgot.....
I second what Matthew says about the Bible Bee Logo...
And BTW I wouldn't use the Bible Bee logo on your group if I were you... it's protected by law.
Quote from below: The Primaries have one set of verses to memorize (as well as the Local verses, hence the overlapping of John 5:24 and 5:24-29); the Juniors have all the Primary passages plus some more longer ones (including John 1:1-18); and the Seniors have all the younger groups' verses plus their own. Can't really say exactly why they did that, though... :P @Washburn, the Senior National verses are already on this group, within the three Pre-Release sets and the 2015 Local verses. :)
Why are a lot of the nationals verses overlapping? I created a Senior nationals verses group because I couldn't find them anywhere else. Just in case you're interested :D . https://scripturetyper.com/Group/View/3197a8cce9/
Wow. That would be a bother, James.
@James - Wow, are you guys going to have to do the test late in the afternoon on August 1st?
Yeah! If they turn out the study guide on Fridays we can print it on Saturday. The first week when they turned it out on Monday at 8 a.m. it was 4 p.m. our time and we were at swimming until about 6 p.m. and our printer took a long time to print it all, so we couldn't do the study guide until Tuesday.
Welcome Miss Marie, danthe, and Princess! :)
Ah. That was where I was confused. On the list that the BB released the seniors were all on one sheet. So I assumed, obviously wrongly, that the senior verse collection would include all the primary, junior, and senior verses. Instead of just the verses that just the seniors memorized. This is just my slow brain here. My apologies. Anyway. Thanks, Matthew.
They're already all added as far as I know... (I made the collections) Like Hannah said, Senior verses will include both the Junior and Primary verses (and the Local verses).
I should have been more specific. On here, will more of the National verses be added to memorize. Because right now there are only like seven passages from the list on here. Thank you.
Welcome, sarah.s and Kaitlyn!
They said they were hoping to, Hannah. xD
Welcome, JillP, anonymous, Lego, and maci millican! :)
Carissa: They overlap. So if you're a Senior, you not only want to memorize the verses in the Senior collection, but also the ones in the Junior and Primary collections.
Will more of the National verses be added soon?
I didn't attend the webinar. Did they say they'd release each week on Friday?
IT IS NOT WEIRD, Hannah. XD It's awesome. XD
Not weird when you attended last week's host webinar! ;P xD
It is?!?! that's weird. But coooooooool!!
Week 3 of the Study Guide is out!!
Happy (late) birthday Anna.
It's your birthday?
Happy Birthday Anna!!! 🎈
Thank you, Delie! I wish that you could have seen the look of surprise on my face when I saw this :). Thank you, Hannah! I looked up allm the verses. Grace and peace to you, too! ;)
Have a wonderful birthday, Anna! (1 Corinthians 1:3, 2 Corinthians 1:2, Galatians 1:3, Ephesians 1:2, Philippians 1:2, 2 Thessalonians 1:2, Philemon 1:3 ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNA!!!!!!!
Great job in the game show Emma!
Okay, that makes sense. Thanks, Matthew!
Okay, that's fine Anna. That's kind of how I feel too -- didn't realize just how many cross-references there would be!
@Hannah: If you don't mind, I'd prefer not to. I already have a lot to memorize/review with John 1-6, local passages, and early release passages (and after that, I may continue with the rest of John), so I don't think that I'll be memorizing any CRs this year (except for the ones that are in memory passages).
Ellie: I think it'll be cool! Less to memorize, but the same amount of passages!
The Primaries have one set of verses to memorize (as well as the Local verses, hence the overlapping of John 5:24 and 5:24-29); the Juniors have all the Primary passages plus some more longer ones (including John 1:1-18); and the Seniors have all the younger groups' verses plus their own. Can't really say exactly why they did that, though... :P
Oh, does anybody know why the National verses overlap each other? Not just divisions, but within the same division. Like, there's John 1:1-18, John 1:9-13, John 1:1-5, and John 1:14. The last three are all within John 1:1-18.
BTW, the Nats verses are overlapping -- Juniors get the Primaries verses as well, Seniors get the Juniors and Primaries.
Oh houndz2012, in another group I'm in it's already added. I'll just add it, so I won't have to actually add all the verses. And thanks!
I can help with the cross-references. I will add the pre-release nats stuff too so you don't have to do so much of it. I am going to do junior pre-release. If I have time later today, I will add the other divisions.
Anna, Rachel, and houndz2012, would you be able to maybe help add cross-references? Cause... I have already added Testify and Believe (and am still adding to those), and I'll add the Jesus collection too soon... I think that's about all I can do (because I add to them like every day... and you know the Jesus collection will be pretty big when we're done with it...)
Who's ready for Week 2 of the SG and verses? (Who has already memorized the Week 2 verses?)
Yep! It's BIBLE BEE 2015 John 1-6.
We're just turning this into the All Things Bible Bee group, huh? =P JK
We're 15th on the leaderboard! Let's try to get to the 10th! BTW. houndz2012, would you mind if I added the Early Release Nats Verses?
I just typed out Genesis 1:1. But you know what I did the first time? I started typing, "In the beginning was the...." XP And the second time I did it I felt my finger reaching out in the direction of the "w", not the "g". :D
I'm sorry guys, I know I'm not being that diligent about adding cross-references. I get distracted easily. But hopefully over the weekend I'll get lots added!
And it's awesome that you were reading when you were 3! I was reading when I was four. :) But my little sister was reading when she was 2! (Not officially, but we did flash cards with her (to teach her sight-reading) and then we stopped and she said the word!)
That's weird, Thomas... was it on a different group that it said that? Or was it this group? If it was a different group, then that would make sense, because it only counts successful attempts if they are for that group. BTW, I saw you on the BB game show, and I was rooting for you! You did great. :D
It used to say I had at least 100 successful attempts but now I have 32.
I will add more as I go through. For now, I'm only adding up through Day 5.
'Kay. I'm only doing the Junior ones; do you know if they are all the same, or what? It's fine houndz2012, I think that I already had memorized them in a different group too.
I removed the chapter one single verses from this group and added them back on, so I don't have as many verses to review, forgetting that it would reset all of your verses as well. I am sorry. :(
Thanks! BibleBeeButterfly, why don't you add them how you suggested, believe, testify, etc. Thanks!!!
houndz2012: I can add some cross-references... would you like me to add them in different collections (i.e. Believe cross-references, testify cross-references) or in one whole collection of all the cross-references?
Congratulations houndz2012! I've only memorized the first 30-something verses.
I have memorized the whole first chapter of John!!!
I feel sorry for our printer, too!
:P
Our box came today! Yeehaw!
I can add some cross-references... would you like me to add them in different collections (i.e. Believe cross-references, testify cross-references) or in one whole collection of all the cross-references?
Wow. I have lots of cross-references already...
IKR!!! It's fine that you added those passages, Anna. If any of you want, you can also add cross references. I think I will in a little bit. :)
Yep, it's okay :) I feel so sorry for our poor printer... :P
Oops! This is Anna on my brother's account :).
@Hannah: I didn't realize until just now that you had offered to add them. I hope that that's OK.
Oh. Thanks houndz2012, but Anna added them (thanks Anna!) If you want, you can undo that.
I just added it! I hope that no one minds :).
I just made a collection of the local memory passages. Do you want me to add it to this group, or do you want this group to be just for memorizing John 1-6?
If you want, you can make me admin and I can add the verses because I am already adding them for a different group.
Wow. the study guide looks a lot different than the SS! A lot harder, too.
Oh there, we got it. Off to study! :)
Too many people are doing it at the same time! We got the email early in the morning, so we beat everyone to it. ;) ;P
We're trying to login to our control panel but it won't work! Eek! HELP!!
The BBSG is released!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And about 30% of the national passages!!!! Most of them are from John!
You can just go into the folders of verses (chapter one, chapter two, etc.) and select "review all verses combined together" until they do.
Would it be too much trouble to add a collection with whole chapters? Don't worry about it if it is.
Yayyy! xD *should really get some verses current on here* xD xP
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow... :)
We got our box two days ago...only 2 days till we get our study guides!
They are, Bethany! I can't wait for mine to get out of the drier!! :P
Wow, the new shirts sound really cool! @Emily: Yes, now I remember! Good memory!
Yay! yeah. And there's not even a paper with your name on it to put into the nametag! :S
Our box cameeee! xD And yes, the Seniors have a darker blue, the juniors a little lighter blue, and the primaries have the lightest blue ;) The name tag/usb drive thingys are neat...I wonder what we'll use the nametag things for.
(we got our box today.) And when I said "they" in the first comment, I was talking about the shirts.
On the nametag you can open something and there's a thumbdrive inside!! Cool!
Mom said, "The mail truck's pulling in!" I ran out as fast as I could and I saw it while she was getting it ready and I started screaming and laughing. She just smiled. :P
We also get a name tag for each person, some bookmarks, some tracts, and a bunch of other stuff.
It's a really pretty color.
They were all light blue, but the Seniors were a bit darker than the Juniors, and the Juniors were a bit darker than the Primaries.
Oh, hmm! Past years it's been UPS (for us, at least)
@Hannah: My box got delivered from the post office.
@Emma: I haven't gotten my box yet, did your box come through the post office mail or UPS?
That's kinda interesting about the new shirts/possible color change. It'll be nice having new tshirt design though! =)
@Bethany: If you are who I think you are, (xD) did I meet you between JR and SR orals, in the hallway, with Rosie A and Carissa P?
It seems like that if we all have the same color, it will make things really confusing at Nationals. Anyway, I hope that Seniors still have red because I have a red notebook, folder, three ring binder, and Bible :).
@Emily: Yes, learning passages and verses helps me a lot! I'm not sure whether I've met you or not. Your Bible Bee picture looks kinda familiar.
What?! I like the new logo but I'm not sure if I'm happy about the change of colors... :P
I am in my last year as a primary so I don't know
I wish they'd kept the old BB logo. It's a lot nicer. Are all the division's shirts light blue?
The shirts are light blue and they have the New Bible Bee logo with the word BELIEVE in the front. And in the back the have John 1:14.
No, Bethany, that's great! :D Are you memorizing passages and single verses? I think that's a super good idea, it'll help you remember about what verse goes with what number. :)
(I think I met you last year at nats...maybe!?)
Emily H., Congratulations on finishing John 1-6! You really are first place because I haven't memorized as much as you have. Besides, my verses will all need to be reviewed tomorrow. :)
We haven't! What do the shirts look like?? =P
No, we didn't. I don't know when we are supposed to get it. But then, we Oregonians always get our box at the wrong time. :)
hey. Did anyone else get their bible bee box?
Are you all planning on coming to the Memverse quiz(zes) today?
Anna: Maybe... IDK Thanks though!
I am so sorry BibleBeeButterfly! That is terrible!
@Hannah: Oh, I'm so sorry! :( I've heard something about Word in the Family having a get-together up in Ohio, so maybe you'll be able to go to that. I know that that wouldn't be quite the same, but there will probably be some of the same people there :).
we got to see it! oh man!
Terrible bad news, everyone. Turns out, my dad doesn't even has enough vacation time left for us to go to Nationals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :'(
Yes, I had missed it too. I do wish it had continued the Juniors though! :(
@Anna - Yeah, I figured. :) We did watch the NBBGS yesterday... I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't continuing the Juniors. But it was good to see that Primary show, since we missed it the previous week.
Yes, I watched it Anna! Thanks to Matthew, who told me at the very last minute about it.
@Matthew: You probably already know this, but some versions (including ESV) do not have verse 4. That's why I didn't include it in the collection.
@All: Did anyone else watch the NBBGS on CTN yesterday? We were expecting a Junior show, but it was a Primary one: Samuel's!!!
I think you have to add it in separately.
John 5:4 is omitted in the John 1-6 passages Collection (I guess whoever added them uses ESV)... Will I still get credit for that verse or do I have to add it in separately?
Great job, Emily! Keep it up!
Oh, I hope we can see the Junior shows!! Wow, congratulations Emily! That's CRAZY! I haven't even finished John 1!
Good job Emily! You and Everett have amazing diligence!
Congrats Emily for finishing John 1-6!! xD
Saturday at 1 PM is a really bad time for us… We may not get the rest of the Junior shows :(
Yes, they said at the webinar that NRB decided to canceled the Junior show... We found it last Saturday on CTN (I think xP), I'm not sure if they'll keep playing it, or what they're doing, since we only watched it that one day. He did say at the webinar they'd try to find a way to air the Juniors even if none of the channels want to play it. Hope that helps!
I'm not sure... I didn't listen to the webinar.
Did they talk about the changes in the broadcasting in the webinar?
I'm pretty sure you can watch Juniors on some CTN network...
By the way, the game show host said I was from Haskell, Tx. I don't even know where that is! Haha! my mom looked it up )
Thanks everyone. has anyone watched the game show on the other networks? I am wondering if they jrs were cancelled or if I can watch somewhere other than nrb network.
Even though I already knew Meredith would make it to Semis.
Oh yes, good job Emma! (And Thomas) I wasn't sure if I was rooting for Meredith and Emma or Thomas and Emma! :) I was hoping that all of them would do really well, and they did!! Wow Everett. Congratulations!!

Oh yes, congrats to Emma as well! I really enjoyed watching you! @Matthew - thanks! Thank you Anna and Adeline for adding the verses. :)
Congrats Everett for being the first one to finish the whole six chapters!!! :D
Thanks Anna, yes that was me. It was fun to watch and everyone did a great job!
Congrats to your brother! All my friends and family that watched thought he was just so cute and did well.
@Everett: Thank you! I'll tell him that you said that! I think that Emma may be on this group, too, so great job, Emma!

Hannah - Okay, I heard that too. Good point about Bible Gateway.
Anna - Congratulations to your brother! He was so cute and did super well! :D
EVERYONE: IF YOU USE BIBLE GATEWAY, THEN MAKE SURE TO READ THIS. IF YOU OPEN UP JOHN 1-6 ON BIBLE GATEWAY, IT WILL NOT SHOW THE WHOLE CHAPTER OF JOHN 6. BUT IT WILL IF YOU PULL UP JUST JOHN 6. SO I PULL UP TWO TABS: ONE FOR JOHN 1-5 AND ONE FOR JOHN 6. JSYK.
Everett: I had heard that they had cancelled Juniors. It could just be a rumor, but I'm pretty sure it's not. I'm looking forward to watching it tonight, Anna! :D
Nate: Welcome to Bible Bee! I would not encourage you to try to memorize John 1-6 word-for-word (though I won't discourage you!) because that's not really part of the test. I would say that it would be a good idea to work on the Study Guide more than the verses, because there aren't Orals. But make sure to review the verses often! Memorizing the book/passage would be helpful, but it would take up time that you could be studying. It comes along easily with studying, though, at least it did for me last year. memverse.com is a great Bible memory site! I also use biblehub.com, biblegateway.com, and greattreasures.org.
Oh, and I forgot to say that the shows are also now on Christian Television Network. On Saturday, they aired the round that Cosette and Elizabeth were in, so I guess that that they might continue with Juniors!
I don't know. I guess we'll find out. I sure hope that they didn't cancel it!

Did NRB cancel the Junior show, or are they just revising the order that the shows are aired in?
Hey, everyone! NRB has changed the order of what shows will air when, so my brother Samuel's show was on Saturday! If you want to watch it, you'll have to pay NRB five dollars.
I don't know what I can, but I will say that I am under the impression that my favorite seven year-old (now eight) will be on tonight! I think that y'all will know what I mean :).
Hi! I'm probably going to end up saying what everyone else says, but here are some things that I have found helpful. First of all, memorize the twelve passages word-for-word and complete your Bible Bee Study Guide. Right now, you're probably planning to do that, but contest-wise, if you don't finish both of those (even if you do a lot of extra studying), you probably won't do very well.
Write summaries of each verse. Well, mine usually are meant to summarize the verse, but it ends up being more like I'm writing my own version :).
Review the BBSG a LOT. It's very important that you know the material really well. Going on bunny trails with studying is fine (and great!), but the stuff that you really need to know is in the BBSG.
Lastly, make reasonable goals. Some people might tell you that you should make really high goals, but if your goals aren't reasonable, then you probably won't stick with it. This might not be true for everyone, but it's definitely that way for me.
I hope that this wasn't too many tips :). If you need more, I have some on my blog: sweeterthanhoneyblog.blogspot.com
There are also some tips from a bunch of contestants here: https://quizlet.com/44790662/share-your-bible-bee-tips-flash-cards/
Enjoy studying John 1-6!
Thanks! And I am in the Senior age division.

http://inductive.indubiblia.org/john-1 This is the site I used. Scroll down on the left and there's more info. biblos.com and blueletterbible are other great tools and they provide commentaries. If you want a commentary for the whole passage, go to bestcommentaries.com for some good choices.

Welcome to the Bible Bee, Nate! You'll definitely learn a lot through this study :) What age division are you in? I recommend that you learn the background/historical context of John and create titles/summaries for each chapter or section. Then, if you can, try to memorize the book... it doesn't have to be word for word. When the verses come out, make sure that you thoroughly research the context and understand each passage. Do the study guide and know everything in it and you'll be good!
Is it important to memorize it word for word? And what websites or commentaries do you recommend for researching the background of the passage/book?
Knowing the background of the book and memorizing it are two things you should definitely do. :)
This is my first year participating with the Bible Bee. What would y'all recommend me to study/memorize/practice?
Yes. I only added the ones I already had memorized (John 1:1-29) plus a few more. (BTW, I hadn't memorized those verses before BB, I had memorized them at church with my Bible (not during the service :P))
One big thing in Memorizing the verses is not adding them all at a time. I did that once, and the next day I had A LOT to review.
:)
Oh, that makes sense. Thank you Adeline, too! :)
@Bethany: You're welcome, but Adeline was the one who added most of them! :)
Anna, thank you so much for uploading all these verses! This is so much fun!
We're at over 1100 verses as a group :D
It was a snapping turtle. Good job houndz and Andrew!
When you select a collection, just add it in ESV even if it says NKJV or something else.
Was it a snapping turtle? just to let you know houndz2012, box turtles have very bright shells.
Are there ESV versions of the John memory verses? If not, are they going to be on here anytime soon?
Wow Everett! How do you memorize so much so quickly?!?!
Nope, it wasn't a box turtle. This turtle can be kind of dangerous.
Wow Everett! How do you memorize so much so quickly?!?!
A box turtle or whatever they are called? ;) I don't know my turtles very well, but that is really cool!
Guess what?!?! We have found lots of painted turtles in our yard, but then we found a different kind of turtle! With a plain shell! and he was lots bigger! Anyone wanna guess what it was?!
@Anna - okay. I agree that John is quite different from a lot of the other books. It has a nice mix of narrative and teaching in it!
@Mathew Minica- thank you :)
@BibleBeeButterfly- Yes I am :)
Wow Anna. Hey, did y'all know that John 1-6 has 284 verses!? That's almost 6 times more than Jonah! (48 x 6 is 288)
@Everett: Yes, but I wasn't memorizing it as fast as y'all, and it's still far from word perfect :). I thought that it was a lot of fun to memorize! It was very differect from any other book that I've ever worked on.
Wow James!! Cool, Matthew! :)
@Hannah - Not sure how often Cosette checks this... Yes she is. :) She attends our Locals too!
We only have been able to see the Junior NBBGS.
:(
My score is: Level 47 | 33674 | 15 Badges.
I live in Crete... I've been to Bible Bee these last two years!
:)
Cosette, are you the same Cosette that was in the NBBGS (National Bible Bee Game Show)?
@Anna - you already knew ALL of John 1-6? This is a lot of work to memorize :P
Wow! Now this group has 818 verses!
My score is: Level 19 | 4123 pts | 9 badges
It's good for a beginner (how long have you been on ST)?
it's reallllllllyyyyy bad
Level 3 | 193 pts | 3 badges
that's my score
It didn't. You didn't have soccer until September of last year.
the year before last we went but last year my soccer stopped us
I'm going to that Lancaster Auction- two hours away from home
More than five hundred verses on this group! Yay!
Thanks BibleBee1215! Yep, I missed it again too. And Saturday we're going to the flea market, and we'll be there when it's on! :( :(
We're in Lancaster on Saturday-now I'll never get to see this episode
And we missed the game show again.
BibleBeeButterfly, I was at Nationals last year, WOW, I can't believe you wrote that!!
It didn't work though, because our internet was acting up. :( And I won't get to see it Saturday either, because I'll be gone! :'(
http://nrbnetwork.tv/Pages/watch_online.aspx
Really, it's happening tonight? How do you see it?
*can't wait to watch NBBGS tonight*
John 1 and John 2 questions are completed! If you want a copy of them, send me a message with your email address, and I will email them to you. :)
Katie: LOL, so you might be the youngest Junior this year! I was probably the second oldest Primary last year. :P No, I know nothing about the guide except that it comes out on June 1. I wonder if they'll still have greek words...?

BB study guide comes out by June 22.
@Hannah: I would still be a primary if I were born 26 days later! :D And this is not BibleBee1215 first year, I met her at nats last year. Do yall know much about the bible bee guide? I don't know much about it at all!
@Hannah: I saw it, and will try to reply when I have time. This week and the next are very busy, so it might be awhile.
BibleBee1215: Is this your first year in Bible Bee? Oh my. Try to continue memorizing 10 verses per day and you'll find out how hard it is! About you being the youngest Junior... LOL, I'm probably the oldest Junior who is still 11. Because last year I would have been a Junior if I had been born 8 days earlier. :O And my BFF would have been if she had been born 5 days earlier. But she's not doing BB anymore :( :'(
Wait... SoccerLuver.... you thought it might be just a hymn? WOW. I didn't think it was that good at all. I just put it on the email I sent out 'cuz I thought it would be fitting.
And I think we're all going to have a looooooong E-news thing in our post office tomorrow morning! :P
Hey Mommy's Helper! Ik you :p :p
BibleBee1215: Yes, I know who wrote it.
It was ME! :P LOL, you thought it probably wasn't me? hehe
hmm.. someone's trying to play top it... ;P
@hondz2012, hey, it shouldn't be hard if you've already done a year of BB. I'm doing TWICE that number per DAY. And I'm probably the youngest Junior right now.
you kind of cheated if it is the BibleBeeButterfly (Mommys Helper)'s poem.
Just stop posting. You don't know. Weren't you the one who asked me?!
Fight the good fight, all ye saints of the Lord,
Fight the good fight, with the sharp two-edged sword;
It will destroy all who are not God's friend:
This sharp sword, the Bible, will win in the end!
Finish the race, all ye people of God,
Run on the narrow path, don't stray abroad!
Come now, keep going, don't rest, do not wait;
Continue to run till you pass through the gate!
Keep up the faith, oh, do not fall away,
You must keep going until Judgment Day!
Do not doubt God, but in him place your trust;
Those who do not are destroyed, for God is just.

@BibleBeeButterfly, do you know who wrote that?
yeah I was confused, but now I know. My mom was listening in on the webinar yesterday. I think the best way to memorize is to copy the verse down over and over then try doing it w/o looking at the original verses. (or usingScriptureTyper!)
Bible Bee 1215: The Sword Study book is Ruth. The Sword Study and the Bible Bee are two different ministries now.
I'm not focusing on memorizing the book, I'm focusing on studying the book! Hopefully memorization will come along with studying, like it did last year! (Okay, I did have to try to memorize a few verses last year... but most of it was just from reading it over and over and studying it!)
Do we all add our own verses here? cuz it's not letting me click on those already added.
IKR, Hannah! I was really surprised they still announced the book/chapters instead of waiting for June 22... but hey, I'm not going to argue!!!! :D
IKR! BibleBeeButterfly! I am going to try to memorize 5 verses per day. That should take about 8 weeks. This is going to be hard!
Now I know its John 1-6
Now trying to memorize 10 verses/day
I thought the book was Ruth yesterday!
Can't believe it's been over a year since I woke up on June 1 at like 5:00 AM to open our BB box and was shocked it was Jonah!!! :O
Hey guys! I've already started studying!!!!!!!!! :) BTW, Anna, I sent something to your pots office
@Anna - oh, okay. Thanks!
Anna, you are added as a moderator. :)
Yeah I think Anna's correct
Anna, you are added as a moderator. :)
Thanks, Anna M for inviting me to this group!
@Everett: If you have your version set to ESV on Scripture Typer, then she wouldn't have to add it in all four versions.
Thanks for inviting me to this group! Adeline, I was already working on memorizing John before we found out what the study book is, so I have a collection of chapters 1-6. If you want, you could make me a temporary admin, and I could add it to the group. The collections are made up of passages (3-6 verses). I'm enjoying studying John, and am looking forward to studying the rest of it in the next two months!
I will try. I don't add verses to groups on ST very much. :)
Do them in NASB, ESV, KJV, and NKJV.
what version will the verses be in?
hey!! Let Bible Bee 2015 begin!!
